Does the aqara remote switch require an aqara hub to work with home assistant? I bought the switch and completely forgot about a hub

Belongs to #1284966353798697001 but you'll need a Zigbee Gateway. This can be Aqara's own hub, or a ZigBee dongle like the SLZB-06 and configuration of Zigbee2MQTT, although I've heard that Aqara devices are sometimes picky with 3rd party bridges

My bad - I definitely thought I read the posting rules right. So any zigbee hub/dongle could work, but might be picky?

What's the cheapest dongle?

And it seems the hub can be connected anywhere in the house as long as it can connect to the wifi? I'm used to zwave hub/dongle that has to be connected to host machine

Exactly. I've seen SLZB06 recommended a lot (in terms of Zigbee dongles in general)
