Hi, I am new on Discord only for Home Assistant purposes. I do not know where to write and how to contact anyone from Home Assistant but I am doing a project for the client who wants to use Home Assistant. Oh, great. Thank you. I am not controls specialis but rather mechanical consultant but want to make sure system I select can speak to Home Assistant (client wants to use it and I never heard of that).
And based what you pasted I can see Samsung systems can speak to Home Assistant through some additional "controls"? Am I right? 🙂

Yes, uses esphome as the interface between the heat pump and HA. You can also use the smart things but you'll need to spend a lot of money on the right adapters + it is not as flexible as the above.
Personally as this is a professional type service you are offering I would advise it's possible but the client needs to research options via the HA community, or push them towards smart things instead.

No it's not Samsung's SmartThings, entirely different but it can connect to SmartThing's

Oh, ok I think I get you now. Usually as mechanical I do not go so deep with controls (espacially smart) so did not know about that smart Samsung stuff.
So summarizing- Home Assistant can work on Samsung standard controls by using ESP Home or on Samsung smart things (but then it is a bit more complicated and more expensive). Am I get that right now :)?

SmartThings will be simpler, but much more expensive and I don't think allows as much control (I'm not even sure what's exposed in Home Assistant via this approach). Esphome is very DIY, quite complex and requires some understanding of the NASA protocol the Samsung climate system uses.
Another option is the modbus adapter too. But I've only ever used esphome to control.
