Because despite them being awful, they're everywhere. Tuya sells their software to anyone too cheap to write their own, those people then hack it until it sort of works on their devices and voilà, a "smart" device. Except you end up with things like a heater showing up as a fan with a "hot" switch and a "hotter" switch.

Not sell your data. Nicer colours, smoother brightness and colour adjustments. A Philips Hue lamp (for example) doesn't need WiFi and works completely locally. As such you can also bind it directly straight to a button so even if HA isn't running you can control it.

Home assistant works out of the box just buy a green and skip any custom cards/integrations just use the default dashboard. Optionally you could switch to Homey or a Homey Pro 2023 the latter for 600Euro with no possibility of customisation. In both cases you would have to skip the project described in this thread and opt for something else.

Theres an unoficial integration you can easily install on the Homey meeting your requirement no effort needed (you can do the same in HAOS with minimum effort). Please note that 95% of the requirements you have stated in this thread is not supported on the Homey.
