#Do Switchbot Curtain 3 connect via matter to HA?

I am getting the switchbot curtain 3 and would like to connect via matter to HA. I have the matter addon in HA. Can I just have HA discover it that way or does it require a separate hub to work? Or should I just try Bluetooth? It is in a room across from the HA server but might be close enough if I can get it working.

I read online that you need the Switchbot hub to convert their protocol to matter.

May want to validate what radio they are using between the hub and the device

yes it is working fine with the hub and curtains through home assistant. The curtains pair to the hub over bluetooth and the hub connects to home assistant matter integration. It also receives the temperature and humidity sensor values in HA from the hub cable. You have to make sure to add the curtains and sensor entities in the switchbot app as secondary devices in the matter setup

I have Curtain 3's and did have them in HA over Matter via their Hub that supports Matter. But I don't use it anymore because I've had a much better experience using ESP32 BT proxies. They fail a lot using Switchbot's own hub but always work with the proxies in my experience. And they work fast too as long as the proxy is nearby. ESP32's are also far cheaper than a hub. So it's easy to buy like 4 of them and spread them all over your house if necessary.

Yeah I may do that

I got it working with the hub

im connected to it via matter. It doesnt appear in the switchbot app as a matter secondary device like the other two sensors do and it doesnt appear in home assistant. how do you have it connected?

I'm pretty sure it's coming in through the "SwitchBot-Mqtt" / "SwitchBotMqttApp"

#

I was using switchbot cloud previously but couldn't get the extra info out of the hub as you say

#

that app doesn't work perfectly, btw, every time I have to restart home assistant for an update or anything it needs its processes restarted manually

i did not know switchbot supported mqtt. I might look into that. But the matter integration is working fine aside from light sensor.

Of course I threw the hub 2 cable out without noticing it had the sensors on it

I may ditch the hub and just use a bluetooth proxy
