Well, I can't seem to find a more recent post on the forums about this beyond this one:
https://community.home-assistant.io/t/need-a-recommendation-for-a-usb-hub-for-aeotec-z-stick-gen5-z-wave-plus-usb-on-raspberry-pi-4/621864

The recommended hub is backordered for a few weeks and I'm looking to see if anyone else has an alternative recommendation.

I don't have a specific one, but a style. It needs to have it's own separate power supply, and do USB 2.0 standards.

I think they want a USB 2 hub due to fear of interference. An extension cable should fix that though.

That's not what I meant. A ZigBee stick (Zwave probably too) should have some clearance to USB 3 ports which can be achieved by plugging it in with an extension cable: #zigbee-archived message

The reason to use USB2 hub for that stick is that the Gen5 (not Gen5+) has a hardware bug that makes it not work on a USB3 port. I don't think the USB extension changes that.

Oh. I have fallen into the trap of assumptions again. Thanks for letting me know.

USB extension cable is generally a good idea. I can't say if it's helpful or necessary in the above case though.

as an alternative you could maybe look into using usb over network and just plug the dongle into another machine
