So far I've only been able to find the new Bluetooth network map by going to the bluetooth help page in the troubleshooting section and launching it indirectly from there. I've been looking through the home assistant menus and settings page and can't find it directly. Can someone tell me what menus I need to traverse to launch it?

Hi there. I noticed since updating to 2025.6.0 (I think or maybe it was when i did 2025.6.1) my rainfall entries from Ambient Weather integration starting either rounding up or down. For instance my daily rainfall showed as 0.00 inches although we had rain today. What's even more odd the graph actually showed the accumulation but the value was still zero. I restored to my 2025.5.3 backup and things show appropriate again. Is this an Ambient issue to troubleshoot or something else?

So, I have two iPad 7th gen's I am using for wall mounted dashboards. I have everything literally 99% perfect on how I want them to behave... except when the device's display is off for a prolonged period of time, the dashboard after waking up from a home assistant automation reports that it's lost the connection, reconnecting... and just stays there. It never refreshes the browser in the companion app.

I have browser_mod sending refresh triggers every hour, but do I need to do it more frequently to keep it alive? I also have the companion app specifically set to not kill background connections after 5 minutes.

i am attempting to install home assistant/music assistant on a raspberry pi 4 and then have it talk to my bluetooth speakers. I can get the raspberry pi 4 to talk to the speakers, i can get musicassistant to pair and connect(i even get the audibe connect from the speakers), but I cant get it to identify it or register it as an active connection. I have tried the current home assistant 15.2, container home assistant with docker and raaspberry pi lite os, and homeassistant core. i seek a process to make this work. please!

Brain dumping here because I am not sure I will not have the time to do so tomorrow.

It is fully possible to have Add-ons prevent the startup of home assistant nd prevent the supervisor from starting.
In such a case you get the error "error returned from supervisor. System is not ready with state setup."

In my case, the easiest way to reproduce this is to create a new custom add on in Home Assistant and add the repository. if the custom add on repository uses the same exposed ports as another add on. The compilation will fail. Supervisor will try to boot this if you click on start and then reboot Home Assistant in the middle of it.

During Boot, the supervisor will see that the image needs compilation, will try to pull everything from docker. This will fail, obviously, because exposed ports are already used. But the supervisor is not made to understand at that time that the compilation can fail and it will quite simply error out and reboot again and again.

The easiest way to get out of this is to use what I found to be an undocumented recovery console by pressing F-10 on the machine. This allows you to have a fuller Linux terminal which allows you to go to the Add-ons dot json file.
Editing that file using vi and removing the reference to the aforementioned add-on will allow the system to boot again.

Googling this issue yielded almost no results, so I think there should be some documentation about how to get into the recovery console first of all, and ideally to document that add-ons may in fact prevent supervisor from starting correctly, which yields to "The system not ready with state setup error".

It is currently quite late where I am, and as such I will not be following up on here today, but I will try to provide more detailed description, screenshots, and appropriate documentation later this week. Any help from the actual Home Assistant team would be appreciated.

TL;DR docker implementation may prevent supervisor from running, which prevents HA from turning on. State is unrecoverable if you don't get into recovery console. Request documentation of recovery console, and of potential issue with supervisor as explanation for "state not ready" bug which seems infrequent but still ppresent and recurring enough that it warrants docs.

Hi I have this TP Link Archer C6 AP. For few days I am having an issue where my AP out of nowhere starts to give me high ping for few hours and randomly gets better. During this issue I have noticed that sometimes when I change wifi channels. The issue subside. The other way to fix this issue is to turn off the wifi radio on the device but I can't afford that. This makes me think whether this is an issue of 2.4GHz network congestion which does not explain why my router gives very high ping during this issue on 5GHz and wired connection as well. This suggests that either I am getting attacked or this router's CPU and memory is getting overwhelmed that I cannot monitor on this router because Tp Link did not share this information.

I'm new to HA in the past week. I ended up installing on an old macbook running MacOS 11 with VirtualBox. After playing around with HA one evening, I awoke in the morning to an unavailable for weather forecast. As far as I could tell the only requirement was an Internet connection. After removing the integration, adding it back, and repeated failures, I found a thread that suggested using Google DNS servers (I was using Quad9). I made the change in HA's system settings and found I was back in business.. for another few hours. I came back to the same issue but now with all of my Internet required integrations I had added since.

Now a bit of a tangent, I had sweeping issues throughout my home with my Internet connectivity last night and my router was still using Quad9 DNS. After a troubleshooting a bit, I just switched my router back to Google DNS which seemed to stabilize everything. HA was working fine again until I woke up this morning to find everything in HA unavailable until I reset the network configuration in the HA UI.

Since I'm new I haven't figured out what an ideal setup is, but I'm starting to have my doubts that running a VM inside an old host system is the way to go. I don't feel I have a very good sense for what the root cause is for HA to stop resolving DNS after sitting idle for a period of time. I do have the sense that this is frustrating and uncommon. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find more expertise on how to properly troubleshoot if/when this happens again?

I somehow got frigate working on a dell3050 with a 4tb SSD USB for storage. I can't believe it but it works. So far two cameras, 1 with object detection, openvino brought the CPU down from 95% to about 30%. Can't believe it.

The problem is in HA, so an issue should be created in the Core repository about the Matter integration.

On further trial&error, it seems that the matter python server is showing correct values whenever I change something directly at the fan, but it is (partially) incorrect when I change something over HA, e.g. change of speed: PercentSpeed (target speed) is shown correctly, but the PercentCurrent (actual speed) is wrong. I am desparate for help. I've had an HA instance running in a proxmox VM for years and it was all humming along. I finally got the time and energy to upgrade from 2024.10.4 and it took me 3 days of figuring out which integration was preventing. Got it upgraded and started adding back the disabled and deleted integrations and tweaking configuration.yaml and now I am completely locked out of the gui. HA runs, but port 8123 is not open. I have a Tasmota wall switch (in smart bulb mode) that I can press the on/off buttons and I can see switch.linkind_switch_2change state. I have a Flood light that has an entity light.flood_cam_1_flood_light that I would like to tie that button press too. So if I hit the button on the wall switch it'll turn the flood light on and off.

Hello, I wasn't really sure where to put this, but is there a place to provide feedback to Home Assistant maintainers on contribution processes?

Every once in a while I find a bug or improvement to make, or I review a PR on GItHub. But nearly 50% of the time I run into some weird process issue or bureaucracy that makes me not want to touch it every again. Most frequently, I run into just a lack of documentation of expectation. How am I supposed to navigate:

  • which contributions should be approved by maintainers before a PR should be opened
  • which contributions need a separate issue before a PR
  • which contributions should be discussed in the architecture repo before a PR
  • which things can just be a PR from the start
  • which bugs are really feature requests

Most recently, this came up with reviewing a PR that was fixing a unit. Because the unit is used in a few components, my review recommended adding a constant. Turns out that is incorrect. I cannot find anywhere in the dev docs a concrete list of "x type change requires discussion." In another PR: no conditionals in tests. Again, this is a rule that makes sense, but I can't find any docs! There's a tiny list on writing tests here (no mention): https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/development_testing#writing-tests-for-integrations The tests section in the component checklist is only one sentence: https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/creating_component_code_review/#7-tests

Another thing: there are at least 4 different contribution checklists

To be clear: these review comments are perfectly reasonable rules, but I cannot find any documentation of them, which makes me feel like a useless reviewer.

At the bottom of every PR is an instruction to review two more PRs, but to put it simply, there is so much red tape that my reviews just don't ever feel valid anymore. It feels trivial to invite people to leave reviews if there is no rubric to work from and a maintainer may nullify the review anyway.

Hey all, I'm attempting to migrate HA Core running on a RaspberryPi 4B on Debian to an HA Green by restoring a backup. After an hour or more, the UI is still down, I can ping the IP assigned to homeassistant, but there's no obvious signs of progress. I've left it running for up to 2 hours and had the same result.

I attempted to set up the HA Green enough to install an update (not beta, though), then attempted the restore, and still had the same issue.

I don't know what happened, but for some reason none of my binary presence sensors work now. "This entity is no longer being provided by the template integration. If the entity is no longer in use, delete it in settings." Everything was working just fine yesterday. And yes, I do have things defined in YAML.

I heard a lot of good things about the Bubble Card integration, so I went to HACS to install it. After I did, I went to click out to a different area of Home Assistant, and the UI became unresponsive. After several F5/refreshes, I was able to get to HACS and uninstall the addon. That seems to have reverted things. I'm not sure what happened. Has this happened to anyone else? Wondering if it's a PEBKAC issue.

i've got a super weird thing with HACS looking different and acting different to what i remember, and there's some things that don't make sense

Hi, new user here. Recently moved into a new home with a number of "connected" devices all using their own apps. Had a rPi4 lying around, so decided to give HA a shot and loaded it up to try and get these devices into a unified structure. I'm running into an issue where HA is using an unbelievable amount of data (17.3down/17.5up GB) in only 20hours. Is there any way to figure out what is using all this data?

Hi Guys, I'm not sure where to begin. I'm an IT guy and I'm about to inherit a hefty bit of kit, host servers, QNAP and Dell SAN's, couple of Cisco PoE core switches. Also, in the next 8 to 12 months, about to move into my own home and I want to go nuts, automation wise. But I have very little knowledge of HA. Sure I've installed it on a Pi but as I was renting the place I was limited to how integrated I could become so I sort of gave up. So here's the question(s) What's the best platform to install HA on? Will it run in a ESXi (free) environment? If I load the VM with 8 cores and 100GB RAM will it make any noticeable difference? In case you're wondering what I have planned, it's the usual, automated entry/exit, multi room audio and Jarvis style interaction, possible home grown LLM AI depending on system constraints, multi room lighting, managed external lighting, video, audio and security. Basically I want to do it all but unlikely ever will. So where do I start? All input welcome, even if it's to tell me don't try....I still will 😂

If it helps to narrow down, Using HASS with konnected integration and getting an error when using any type of switch. I get websocket errors and i cannot for the life of me figure out what is the issue.

I moved from the ikea dirigera hub to a sonoff zigbee dongle (ZHA), and I am now migrating my network.
Everything went fine, except a little thing: When I tried to bind my styrbar (https://www.ikea.com/es/es/p/styrbar-mando-distancia-inteligente-blanco-30488363/) to 4 devices (tradfri lights), it only works for turning on/off the lights and their dimming, but the left right buttons are not changing the color.

I want to avoid setting up automation for that, I would like the bindings to be native instead. What's the way to fix this? where should i start?

Hello, today I realised that all my energy dashboard historic data was gone after updating to OS16. I was able to restore the data from yesterday backup.

This is very weird, what can have caused this apart from an update issue if no entity has been deleted? Thanks!

I've got one that I suspect someone has found a solution to, but I don't see it. Has anyone found a convenient way to get a robo mower through a fence in a manner that won't/shouldn't allow a medium to large dog to also get out? I'm thinking something like a "dog door" that opens from a proximity sensor is going to be the closest to an out of the box solution.

Hi all. I have a Deye / Solarman PV/Battery system, and some ewelink controlled smart switches. I want to combine the battery State-of-Charge from Solarman, and the predicted PV output from my solar panels and the time of day to control one or more of these switches which run power heavy water pumps. I can't use the actual PV output because when the batteries are full the PV output = electricity used and NOT the amount the PV panels could be producing.

I know that HA has an integration Forecast.Solar which can preidtc my PV output. I have an API key for Solarman which can get the battery State-of-Charge, and EWElink has an API which can be called to query and control the switches. So the building blocks exist.

I have a Linux server with limited memory which could run HA as a Docker instance, but that won't run HA plugins (like the EWElink plugin). There are not currently integrations with Solarman and EWElink that will run on HA Container - but I have Python skills and given an existing integration to use as a starting point I can probably create integrations for both of these and contribute to the HA ecosystem.

So, here are my questions:

  1. Are there any existing integrations for EWELink and Solarman which are not in the online integrations database?

  2. If not, are there any decent integration sources that I can tweak to make Solarman / Ewelink integrations?

  3. Or would I be better off just writing a CRON initiated batch script to query the Solar forecast and Solarman APIs, decide whether to turn the switch(es) on or off and then call the EWElink API to make any switching actions?

When I click on developer -> states everything hangs for 5 to 10 seconds. As long as I don't click on that tab everything seems to be OK. this is nothing to do with the number of devices or anything else as it was working fine just a couple of weeks ago and I haven't added anything. 2025.7.1 presently installed. I'm not sure when this new problem triggered. I don't know where to post about this and what section because there's so many sections in this channel. It's hard to figure out where to go.

Don't know where to ask this since the dev channels seem to be gone, but can I override the "triggered by" message when calling an action via the REST API? For example instead of "triggered by action Home Assistant Core Integration: Generic toggle" it should display "triggered by RandomsNewApp". I couldn't find anything regarding this in the documentation, but when calling the same action via an automation or script it does correctly show the name of the automation/script.

From my understanding, zigbee devices create a mesh network. The coordinator (in my case, HA with a ZBdongle-e) needs to pair with the device initially, but can rely on other devices to pass data back and forth.

I have 2 SNZB-02D sensors, one on the top floor landing, and another in the bedroom. The top floor sensor is feeding data back to HA, but the bedroom one isn't. The top floor one is about 5 meters away from the bedroom sensor and has line of sight to it.

If zigbee creates a mesh, doesn't this mean the top floor sensor should be able to relay data for the bedroom sensor back to my HA?

Hello all, total home assistant newbie over here (also new to this server so go easy if I posted in the wrong place). I have tried/lost focus hehe to setup my home assistant yellow with all the things ppl online recommend to put in it multiple times before. Im an absolute computer novice and have found the learning curve a bit too steep to trudge up alone, yet I still really want to use this system because I want fully local and private control over my smart home environment. I decided to use Claude to help teach me how to do things. But here's my concern, it's knowledge base is a little out of date (Jan 2025). I was thinking of putting in the work to combine all the home assistant update announcements (and their nested articles) into one pdf and feeding it into claude to update its knowledge base as it gives me recommendations for how to setup. My question to the group is this: Has this been done before? Is there anyone who has created a master document of home assistant updates or better yet has already fed all of this into an AI I can query for advice?

Months wasted...... Work in IT and can manage all types of services, but just cant manage to get HA where I need IT to be. On one hand I feel like I should just buy some more hardware to run it. OEM stuff, greens and yellows etc...... But on the other I feel like I know enough to run anything. Why is HA so hard for me to get at a spot where I can finally get rid of this Uh-LEX-uh and keep it home.

Currnet home has a bunch of Amazon switches, and other Amazon Uh-LEX-uh crap that I have been slowly changing to ESPs and Zigbees and WiFi. Hi everyone, I’m having a really frustrating experience with the backup and restore process in Home Assistant.
I created a full backup directly from the UI, never set any encryption password, and now when I try to restore it, I’m being asked for a decryption key that I was never informed about or given a chance to set.
I’ve spent days setting up my system, carefully configuring everything, and now I can’t even restore it, it’s incredibly discouraging.
If encryption is applied by default, there should be a very clear prompt or option during backup creation. Right now it feels like I’m locked out of my own setup, and I’m honestly disappointed.
I’d really appreciate any help or clarification on how to proceed. Thanks.

Hey everyone! Trying to migrate my Z-Wave switches from SmartThings over to HA and running into some issues. Got an Aeotec Z-Stick 7 set up with Z-Wave JS integration, but I'm having trouble with inclusion.
Testing with a GE ZW4003 switch - managed to exclude it from SmartThings just fine, but when I go to "Add Device" in the Z-Wave JS integration, it just sits there spinning on "searching for devices" forever. I've tried the single press up on the toggle like the manual says, tried getting closer to the stick, but nothing.
Anyone run into this before? Is there some trick with inclusion strategies or security settings I'm missing? The switch doesn't seem to go into inclusion mode at all - no LED activity or anything.

You have to exclude the switches first in my experience if they were included somewhere else. You can do the exclusion and the inclusion inside of Z-Wave JS I believe. For more #1284966617670881350 zwave tag

Hello Guys,

I would like to ask you for help . I configured github based on this https://community.home-assistant.io/t/sharing-your-configuration-on-github/195144. It works as described.

But I would like to add also blueprints folder and its subfilders. It is not possible. even if I remove * form gitignore file. Doeas anybody tell me why? Or what I should do to add my blueprint to guthub other way than manualy?

hello, i'm trying to troubleshoot my semi-broken HA yellow
currently it's kind of running but all integrations requiring internet access are not starting/loading, for example weather (via met.no integration)
overall HA restart takes very long time but i got no clue where to start tbh

i had hass agent working with mqtt but i moved my whole pc and redid my network moving apartments and now it doesnt work, i just get

I have a Raspberry Pi 5 with a Sonoff Zigbee dongle. For the past couple of days, I've been trying to bump up the signal distribution in my house. I've installed 'Zigbee Smart Plug' units (Z2M/HA flagged them as Tuya) across the property, and they don't seem to want to connect to my Sonoff Water Valves. They just connect to each-other. The closest plug to my Pi is sitting at 150 LQI, and 30 feet away is (among other things) one of the Sonoff water valves, LQI hovering between 12 and 20. I've tried rebooting the Pi, I've tried moving the plugs around after a couple of hours, nothing seems to work.

Is there a helper i can use that'll sum the changes to a sensor?
My fridge reports its kWh energy usage, but i think it's like lifetime or yearly (since its value is at 3000kWh) which is more than my entire houses actual quarterly power usage.
I want to track its monthly usage, so I need a sensor helper that will ignore its actual value, and just record the changes.
Eg, if we start when its 3000, sensor would be 0. When it changes to 3100, sensor would be 100.
And resets start of month

The energy dashboard manages it (i added the fridge kWh sensor to individual device list)
But I'd like to use the value elsewhere, so I think I'd need to make a helper to do the above??

Hi everybody. A noob here trying to get started.
Just activated my HomeAssistant Green and installed the ESPHome add-on.
Now I am trying to get the homey Energy Dongle connected as described in this post on the forum: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/how-to-connecting-the-homey-energy-dongle-to-home-assistant-with-esphome/878962.
But I think I am stuck here. Do I need to connect the dongle to the HomeAssistant but how do I 'flash' it using ESPHome? I only see the 'New Device' button.
Did I miss any references or tuturials that help me along?

I recently had my original proxmox machine corrupt. I had to reinstall proxmox, and with that, lost all configuration i had with my HAOS setup. on this new instance of HAOS, no devices are found, either automatically, or manually adding a new service (i.e. sonos doesn't find my sonos speakers). I assume this is because they were already linked to my old HA setup. Could anyone help me out?

Anyone to help me get back my Let'sEncrypt config, that was working very fine until a few days ago and now cannot renew my certificate, saying "Timeout during connect (likely firewall problem)" in the logs. There is no firewall action in this, I checked my network (which has not changed since it last worked), there definitely has a problem in HA which prevents the certbot to find the came-challenge it's looking for. I really need help debugging this…

PS : I'm not sure where to post this, it is a Let's Encrypt addon config (or interaction with HA) problem…

i just installed HA (Yellow) on completely new SSD and restored backup into it (old SSD is 240GB, new is 512GB)
when i go to Settings - Storage i see that 52% is used with 12.3GB free and new line called "eMMC lifetime used" with 10%
previosuly on old one i would see something like 20% used from whole capacity of the disk
is this normal after restore or some new way of showing things?

and one more thing - i can no longer connect to HA from outside from phone (using DuckDNS + NGINX HA SSL proxy, no errors in the logs), it complains about date on HA certificate

It's been a while since I actively managed my instance, for example rooms and areas didn't exist, so now I'm thinking it's time to go over and organize everything again. (Some rooms have changed purpose, For example "bedroom_ceiling" is now actually the home office and not in bedroom") Would you recommend setting up a new instance parallell to my current and then "copy" things over, or going through and updating / editing all entities?

I'm not sure which category this goes in- my HA install (Docker) seems to not be able to detect things on wifi. I have a suspicion it's a simple issue (possibly with passing through network to the container) but not sure where to start. If there's a way to just validate if HA can access wifi at all that would be helpful

I just installed HAOS on a M.2 SATA SSD and uploaded it on a new mini pc to upgrade from the HA Blue.
Issue: No "Quick Reload" option in the "Developer tools-Check and restart-Restart" link. My HA Blue is up-to-date and it still has that option.
Question: Should I re-do the HAOS installation or is there a simple way to get that "Restart" back?
I sincerely don't know if I screwed something up or if it was just a bad install issue.

Hi all,
I have since a while back encountered the following issue with my HA installation on "Blue".
I ask it to turn on the light but nothing happens and then I ask it to set the ligths to like 50% and it turns on the light at 50%.
When I look at the dashboard HA states that the lights are turn on but they arent. and I see that it a light is turned on at like 60% and i then ask it to set the light to 50% its adjusts the light toi 50% and the light is turned "on"
anyone recognize this and know what I shall look for? its quite enoying.. It has been like this since at least 3 updates back.

I think I found a bug in the communication between EspHome and HA. Before filling a bug,I would like to see if I can fix it. That involves hacking the interface between the two software stacks. I know how to "reach" the Docker container running EspHome, and changing code on the fly to see what's going on, but how can I reach the (running) HA code to add debug logging where I want it? I'm running Supervised (of course).

Having trouble with some new automations with Aqara water sensors. I write them and save them, they work (with some issues) , but they do not appear in the automations listings. They do appear at the bottom of the YAML automations file. Automations?
