#Okay fair enough, hard to get some

Really it comes down to country, budget, and goals
North America's prices for Z-Wave are more reasonable than the rest of the world, where Zigbee devices can be 1/3 or even 1/4 of Z-Wave prices
However, in high density housing the 2.4 GHz band is likely to be saturated, so Z-Wave will be more reliable
For me, I'm in the UK and in a detatched house, so Zigbee made far more sense, particularly with a target of over 100 Zigbee or Z-Wave devices
I'm in the Netherlands in a row house. Don't know about the 2.4 since most use the 5g band here so would maybe need to check with a signal app to check how saturated the band really is here. Prices are definitely up there for the Z wave stuff though and I've noticed that the selection isn't very big. So was wondering if stuff from say Aqara might be of such quality that going zigbee wouldn't pose a problem at all
Would just hate to have bought the stuff and for it to not be reliable once it's in the walls
But the Z wave security people are always teetering about is a little too much hearsay imo since they both have the 128 bit encryption setup. So it's hard to get people that have actually used both systems with quality brand equipment.
And the thing that people say z wave is slower... idk what to make of that for real case scenarios honestly
I'd def not have a 100 devices though, I think closer to maybe 30
Thanks for the insights
think I'll prob go with zigbee
My own mesh is largely a mix of Innr and Aqara
Do you evere have problems with certain devices becoming unresponsive or dropping out of the mesh?
Or is it just stable like hardwired lights
Not really, only when the batteries die
Then again, there's rules to follow - pinned over in the #zigbee-archived channel - for a good experience
Also, I don't own the brands known to cause problems - Osram, Sonoff, Tuya
Sounds good so far, heard it's best not to mix the two z wave and zigbee too much and do have tuya lights from action at home via wifi
Eh, you can have both - I did for long enough - you just have to build out both meshes
Okay
Thanks I think going with Aqara seems like a safe bet from what i can tell rn
So i'll prob order some things with them, thanks for the advice was really helpful.
Most of my mesh is Aqara - where you can buy the E1/T1/P1 ranges rather than the original
They cost slightly more, but they're Zigbee 3.0 and better behaved
(also longer battery life)
The FP2 is WiFi from memory
Yah seems so
Aqara is a mix of Zigbee, WiFi, and probably Thread/Matter
