junior cargo
#

😅

olive spire
#

Did you install docker desktop?

junior cargo
#

ahah

#

ok restarted

#

but still saying this
yaml: line 1: did not find expected ',' or '}'

#

ok worked

#

now what? :D

junior cargo
#

sir? ponder

olive spire
#

lol hold on. I’m in a meeting. Give me a little while and I’ll reply.

junior cargo
#

imagine jeff bazos in a metting and using discord meanwhile

#

😂💀

olive spire
junior cargo
olive spire
#

lol yup! Ok... what's the question?

junior cargo
#

what do i do next?

olive spire
#

Oh, that... so, you got the docker compose file to run?

#

Did you figure out what port AdGuard is running on? I thought it was 3000, but I could be wrong. It should be in their documentation.

junior cargo
#

like idk honestly, i dont really understand😅

olive spire
#

They say http://[ip address]:3000

junior cargo
olive spire
#

IP Address of your mac.

junior cargo
#

i am in..

#

😂💀

olive spire
#

Woot!

junior cargo
#

let me do all the setup one sec

junior cargo
#

should i change anything here?

olive spire
#

Nope.

junior cargo
#

no static ip ok

olive spire
#

I would reserve the IP in your router for your mac OR setup a static ip on your mac.

junior cargo
junior cargo
#

i need to fix the problem that i had earlier which was that, if i used the wifi when ha was off, it didnt work

#

meaning when adguard was off, my wifi couldnt work

olive spire
#

Right. We've fixed that.

#

BUT, if you turn your Mac is off, you'll still have the same problem.

#

And yes, DHCP reservation.

junior cargo
#

ok but wait wait

#

but then how do i tell my router to use adguard

#

because if i do the same that i did with HA then i will still have the same problem

#

it will not work until my mac is on and running adguard

#

like what do i need to do now to set it up?

olive spire
#

Remember? I told you this... Moving AdGuard to your Mac means it needs to stay on.

#

AdGuard needs to run on a 24x7 machine.

junior cargo
#

ok but lets say for some reasons i lose power right?

#

and then i restart my mac, how does my mac connect to the internet and be able to start adguard without wifi?

#

will it still be able to start?

olive spire
#

The docker container will automatically start. You don't have to do anything. So, your Mac will boot and then the AdGuard docker will start on it's own.

junior cargo
#

also is there a way to tell my mac that every time it turns on, i want him to start docker and start the container?

olive spire
#

It does it automatically.

junior cargo
#

well not the app tho

junior cargo
#

do i need the docker desktop app to start?

olive spire
#

Nope

junior cargo
#

or its in the background?

#

AH REALLY?

#

its that good?

olive spire
#

Yes. That's what this line does: restart: unless-stopped

junior cargo
#

GAD DAMN

#

thats some cool shit holy

#

if my mac goes to stand by/sleep mode does the docker stop?

#

because if stop using it, it will turn off the monitor etc

olive spire
#

The docker engine will start on it's own and any containers. However, JUST to be safe, in Docker Desktop, go to settings and make sure to check the Start when you sign into your machine.

junior cargo
#

okok one sec

olive spire
#

Sleep mode might be a problem.

#

I'm not sure what docker desktop will do if the machine goes to sleep tbh.

junior cargo
#

its fine its fine, ill remove teh sleep mode thing

#

ok so, wait sorry, how do i set up adguard now?

olive spire
#

The same way... in your router, first setup a DHCP reservation for your Mac (or set a static IP on the Mac) and then point your DNS server to it.

olive spire
#

Yup. Looks like it.

junior cargo
# olive spire Yup. Looks like it.
  • Click on the "Edit" link next to an existing DHCP lease, and then onthe detail page that comes up, check off the box for "Static Lease Type" and then "Apply >"
  • Scroll to the bottom and click on "Add static connection +" and fill out the host name, IP address, and MAC address on the next page, then click "Apply >"
#

option A or B?

olive spire
#

I don't know? I guess static lease type?

junior cargo
#

thats what we want?

olive spire
#

Yup. Go with that 🙂

#

It's your network... you get to choose lol

junior cargo
#

and change it to adguard?

junior cargo
#

idk

#

i donnt fucking know what i am doing

#

😂

olive spire
#

lmfao... how do you think I learned everything? I made LOTS of mistakes and did lots of reading. 🙂

junior cargo
#

fair enough

#

but, so now, i need to put the adguard ip on my mac ?

#

like instead of the mac ip?

olive spire
#

They are the same 🙂

junior cargo
#

oh

#

cuz its running on the mac?

olive spire
#

Yes sir

junior cargo
#

ok so

#

what do i need to put there then?

#

what do i need to put in the static lease type

#

or just enable it without changing ip?

olive spire
#

Just hit the apply button. Don't change anything.

junior cargo
#

so thats it?

#

like i did with adguard home HA?

olive spire
#

Nope. Leave it alone.

junior cargo
olive spire
#

In your DNS server settings in your router, set the first DNS server to be 192.168.1.189

junior cargo
#

here?

olive spire
#

Yeah, I think it's in that IPv4 DNS: dropdown.

#

I don't know... didn't you have this setup before?

junior cargo
#

ok it works

#

but wait

#

as i put it in the Ethernet settings, does that mean it will only work with ethernet connected devices?

#

do i need to change for all of these?

olive spire
#

I don't think so.

junior cargo
#

that sounds like a 95% sure

#

lol

#

but now how do i add the interface to HA?

olive spire
#

You don't add an interface to HA. Stop using made up words 🙂

#

lol

junior cargo
#

the ui

olive spire
#

You want to add the AdGuard integration.

#

Yes.

junior cargo
#

interface as in ui

olive spire
#

Add the AdGuard integration and point it to your Mac ip address (192.168.1.189)

junior cargo
#

i just tried, and it gives me failed to connect

pine martenBOT
junior cargo
#

oh wait

#

i fucked up

olive spire
#

Do you have a firewall on your Mac?

#

Also, you're not using SSL so uncheck both of those.

junior cargo
#

not sure, but first of all, my mac is not connected with ethernet

olive spire
#

And you'll have to make sure your username and password match (obvs)

junior cargo
#

of course

olive spire
#

Eh, that shouldn't matter... you WANT it to be, but you don't have to.

junior cargo
#

wait

olive spire
#

What?

#

lol

junior cargo
#

this is how my mac settings says

#

is that correct to be like that?

junior cargo
#

do i need to setup a manual address for the mac?

olive spire
#

Yup. You'll need to setup another DHCP reservation in your router.

junior cargo
#

what?

#

wait what

#

why?

olive spire
#

Different network interface... different IP address.

#

Can't have 2 interfaces (ethernet and wifi) using the same ip address and connected at the same time.

#

Networking 101

junior cargo
#

so wait

#

now i need to go back and change the ip of my mac from the router using the ip that its showing on the mac settings?

olive spire
#

If you want to use ethernet, yes.

junior cargo
#

what about adguard settings?

olive spire
#

Dude... should take you 5 minutes or less now.

#

Those stay the same. DO NOT TOUCH THEM.

junior cargo
#

ok but

#

it literally say its illegal the ip

#

😅😂

olive spire
#

That's a local IP address. Find the one that starts with 192.168.1.

junior cargo
#

ah

#

i am having a problem finding the device tho

olive spire
#

In your terminal, type in ip a and see what you get.

junior cargo
#

i plugged in the ethernt and turned off the wifi, but i cant see my mac

#

and if i search stuff on internet it says i am not connected

#

so ethernet is not working for some reasons

olive spire
#

Hmmmm, that means it's not getting a connection from the router.

#

OR... no, wait.

#

AdGuard.

#

shit.

junior cargo
#

🥲

olive spire
#

In your router, set the IPV4 DNS back to normal.

junior cargo
#

thats what i tried..

#

but nop

#

oh wait

#

that

#

yeha no, not working

#

ok wait

#

its working the ethernet now, let me try set it up again

#

something is not working again, the ip was the same as the other, so i put everything back together but it doesnt work…

#

AHHAHA I AM RETARD

#

i forgot i stopped adguard

#

HA integration still gives me "Failed to connect"

junior cargo
#

sir?

#

🤌

olive spire
#

lol are you calling me old?

junior cargo
#

no idk ahaha

#

i didnt know what to say

#

💀

olive spire
#

lol you could just ping me 🙂 But... let me read... so, you got your ethernet setup, but HA still isn't seeing adguard?

junior cargo
#

yeah

#

i dont want to disturb, a lot of people gets mad if you ping them

#

💀

olive spire
#

Eh, I do too, but it's fine... I'm still technically helping you and half the time I bounce around so much, I forget to come back HackerBongoCat

junior cargo
#

thats why i just send a normal message

#

seemes like you see the white dot of the chat without needing of ping

olive spire
#

Sometimes, if I'm actually paying attention to Discord lol But like I didn't see any of those last night.

#

Alright... so, what's the ethernet ip address of the mac?

olive spire
#

AND... do you have firewall on?

junior cargo
junior cargo
olive spire
#

Wasn't that the WiFi one?

junior cargo
#

😅

junior cargo
#

i turned the wifi off and now its using that for ethernet

olive spire
#

Ahhhh, ok gotcha...

#

1 sec

junior cargo
#

its off yes

olive spire
#

Ok. So, try your integration again... make sure SSL is turned off (both checkboxes)

junior cargo
#

no wait

#

it was already off

#

thats what i meant sorry

olive spire
#

Ok, and if you try to add the integration again, does it go through?

junior cargo
#

yep not working

#

i think theres something wrong with the port

#

cuz to get to the UI website i dont need to put the port

junior cargo
#

and so port will be 3000?

#

wait

#

what server name do i need to put then?

olive spire
#

Whatever name you want 🙂

junior cargo
#

i am confused

#

i cant even save the configuration

olive spire
#

What's it saying when you try to save it?

junior cargo
#

its just grayed out

#

for what the guy says he removed "redirect to HTTPS"

olive spire
#

Is Redirect to HTTPS checked or unchecked?

junior cargo
#

i never had it checked

#

but neither "enable encryption"

#

and if i check it and put a random name to the "server name" i cant save it

olive spire
#

Ok ok... let's try something else. Can you remote into the HA console? Did you install the Advanced Terminal and SSH addon?

junior cargo
#

yes

olive spire
#

Ok, ssh into the HA console and try curl http://192.168.1.186:3000 and see what it says.

junior cargo
#

curl: (56) Recv failure: Connection reset by peer

#

this

olive spire
#

Ok, that's the issue then... is your rPi ethernet or WiFi?

junior cargo
#

ethernet

olive spire
#

Try ping 192.168.1.186

junior cargo
#

PING 192.168.1.186 (192.168.1.186): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=0 ttl=64 time=0.533 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.661 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.603 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.553 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=4 ttl=64 time=0.605 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=5 ttl=64 time=0.511 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=6 ttl=64 time=0.525 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=7 ttl=64 time=0.526 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=8 ttl=64 time=0.548 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=9 ttl=64 time=0.485 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=10 ttl=64 time=0.569 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=11 ttl=64 time=0.599 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=12 ttl=64 time=0.498 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=13 ttl=64 time=0.555 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=14 ttl=64 time=0.704 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=15 ttl=64 time=0.553 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=16 ttl=64 time=0.760 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=17 ttl=64 time=0.436 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=18 ttl=64 time=0.580 ms

#

it doesnt stop HHAHA

#

💀

olive spire
#

Yeah, hit cmd+c

junior cargo
#

bruhhh

#

thats copy on mac

olive spire
#

Or crtl+c I can't remember which one. lol

junior cargo
#

ahah wait

olive spire

Shhhhh I hate my macbook.

wtf is thiss

#

64 bytes from 192.168.1.186: seq=82 ttl=64 time=0.667 ms ^C --- 192.168.1.186 ping statistics --- 83 packets transmitted, 83 packets received, 0% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max = 0.436/0.616/0.815 ms

olive spire
#

lol input from the keyboard.

#

Ok, so it can ping your mac, but can't get to port 3000

junior cargo
olive spire
#

You're able to open adguard web on the mac, right?

junior cargo
#

yes

#

without port

#

i just use the mac ip

olive spire
#

And you're SURE the firewall is off?

junior cargo
#

yes

olive spire
#

🤔

#

The ONLY thing I can think of is that the adguard conf port (3000) is being blocked for some reason.

junior cargo
#

if i try to 192.168.1.186:3000 it dosnt work

#

(on google)

olive spire
#

But port 80 does... which makes sense.

#

Ok, in your ssh, try curl http://192.168.1.186

junior cargo
#

ahaha doesnt seem good

olive spire
#

No. That is good.

#

That means that HA can connect to Adguard.

#

And you're sure your username/password is correct?

#

Maybe try resetting your password just to be sure.

junior cargo
#

i am sure its corerect

#

cuz if i try to log in in otehr devices it works

junior cargo
#

@olive spire

#

my wifi is gone

#

like nothing works, nothing loads

#

wtf happened

#

i didnt click anything

#

wait wtf, my mac just went offline…

olive spire
#

Wait what???

#

What happened to your Mac?!?!??

junior cargo
#

idk

#

i have no clue

#

my mom told me we didnt have internet it was true

#

i wasnt able to access anything

#

i went and remove the IP address of my mac from my router, so now its working without adguard

#

so i had the IP of the mac under "Broadband Connection (Ethernet)"

#

should i put it in Network "(Home/Office)"

#

whats the difference from "Broadband Connection (Ethernet)" to "Ethernet"

#

bro i have no idea what i need to do and what i am doing wrong for this adguard thing

#

🥲

#

if i try to load the ui of adguard website it doesnt work

#

i just see it now

#

my mac ethernet ip changed

#

its 169.254.173.126

#

welp

#

i think i might have fixed

#

by going to the mac settings and specifing the IP to use

#

nvm the UI of adguard is not loading anyway...

#

nothing is loading after putting the IP back in Ethernet settings on my router

#

if i try searching anything on my mac on google it says “no internet connection”, if i go to the network settings it says “Ethernet” connected.

#

💀

olive spire
#

Ok. Catching up. Hold on.

#

Ok. That’s just weird. So, the IP of you Mac went away? Where were you seeing Broadband connection and Ethernet???

junior cargo
#

under network connections

olive spire
#

The IP should be under Ethernet.

#

But, I still don’t understand how it lost the network connection.

junior cargo
#

and not unduer broadband?

olive spire
#

Take a screen cap.

junior cargo
#

wait can we talk in dms? so at least i can send you pictures

#

easier

olive spire
#

Yup
