Did you install docker desktop?
well yeah
ahah
ok restarted
but still saying this
yaml: line 1: did not find expected ',' or '}'
ok worked
now what? :D
sir?
lol hold on. I’m in a meeting. Give me a little while and I’ll reply.
bro is in a meeting and using discord at the same time, never heard of that, thats wild
imagine jeff bazos in a metting and using discord meanwhile
😂💀
I’m not flush with cash like Bezos is though 🤣
hahahaha sad true story
lol yup! Ok... what's the question?
it worked the thing about the file stuff
what do i do next?
Oh, that... so, you got the docker compose file to run?
Did you figure out what port AdGuard is running on? I thought it was 3000, but I could be wrong. It should be in their documentation.
yes
idk how to check
like idk honestly, i dont really understand😅
Did you check their docs? https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdGuardHome/wiki/Docker
They say http://[ip address]:3000
ip address of my mac running the docker or router or?
IP Address of your mac.
Woot!
let me do all the setup one sec
Nope.
I would reserve the IP in your router for your mac OR setup a static ip on your mac.
now how do i do this? https://ibb.co/87kLJ3T
reserve?
i need to fix the problem that i had earlier which was that, if i used the wifi when ha was off, it didnt work
meaning when adguard was off, my wifi couldnt work
Right. We've fixed that.
BUT, if you turn your Mac is off, you'll still have the same problem.
And yes, DHCP reservation.
ok but wait wait
but then how do i tell my router to use adguard
because if i do the same that i did with HA then i will still have the same problem
it will not work until my mac is on and running adguard
like what do i need to do now to set it up?
Remember? I told you this... Moving AdGuard to your Mac means it needs to stay on.
AdGuard needs to run on a 24x7 machine.
ok but lets say for some reasons i lose power right?
and then i restart my mac, how does my mac connect to the internet and be able to start adguard without wifi?

will it still be able to start?
The docker container will automatically start. You don't have to do anything. So, your Mac will boot and then the AdGuard docker will start on it's own.
also is there a way to tell my mac that every time it turns on, i want him to start docker and start the container?
It does it automatically.
well not the app tho
u sure?
do i need the docker desktop app to start?
Nope
Yes. That's what this line does: restart: unless-stopped

GAD DAMN
thats some cool shit holy
if my mac goes to stand by/sleep mode does the docker stop?
because if stop using it, it will turn off the monitor etc
The docker engine will start on it's own and any containers. However, JUST to be safe, in Docker Desktop, go to settings and make sure to check the Start when you sign into your machine.
okok one sec
Sleep mode might be a problem.
I'm not sure what docker desktop will do if the machine goes to sleep tbh.
its fine its fine, ill remove teh sleep mode thing
ok so, wait sorry, how do i set up adguard now?
The same way... in your router, first setup a DHCP reservation for your Mac (or set a static IP on the Mac) and then point your DNS server to it.
this right?
Yup. Looks like it.
- Click on the "Edit" link next to an existing DHCP lease, and then onthe detail page that comes up, check off the box for "Static Lease Type" and then "Apply >"
- Scroll to the bottom and click on "Add static connection +" and fill out the host name, IP address, and MAC address on the next page, then click "Apply >"
option A or B?
I don't know? I guess static lease type?
if i do static lease type i can manually change the ip of the mac now
thats what we want?
and change it to adguard?
BRUH wdymmm
idk
i donnt fucking know what i am doing
😂
lmfao... how do you think I learned everything? I made LOTS of mistakes and did lots of reading. 🙂
fair enough
but, so now, i need to put the adguard ip on my mac ?
like instead of the mac ip?
They are the same 🙂
Yes sir
ok so
what do i need to put there then?
what do i need to put in the static lease type
or just enable it without changing ip?
Just hit the apply button. Don't change anything.

so thats it?
oh wait, now i need to put the ip of adguard (this: https://ibb.co/8XYPhPR) to the router?
like i did with adguard home HA?
Nope. Leave it alone.

In your DNS server settings in your router, set the first DNS server to be 192.168.1.189
Yeah, I think it's in that IPv4 DNS: dropdown.
I don't know... didn't you have this setup before?
yeah its where i did it for adguard home HA
ok it works
but wait
as i put it in the Ethernet settings, does that mean it will only work with ethernet connected devices?
do i need to change for all of these?
I don't think so.
the ui
interface as in ui
Add the AdGuard integration and point it to your Mac ip address (192.168.1.189)
i just tried, and it gives me failed to connect
Do you have a firewall on your Mac?
Also, you're not using SSL so uncheck both of those.
not sure, but first of all, my mac is not connected with ethernet
And you'll have to make sure your username and password match (obvs)
of course
Eh, that shouldn't matter... you WANT it to be, but you don't have to.
wait
i would prefer to use ethernet for this
do i need to setup a manual address for the mac?
Yup. You'll need to setup another DHCP reservation in your router.
Different network interface... different IP address.
Can't have 2 interfaces (ethernet and wifi) using the same ip address and connected at the same time.
Networking 101
so wait
now i need to go back and change the ip of my mac from the router using the ip that its showing on the mac settings?
If you want to use ethernet, yes.
what about adguard settings?
Dude... should take you 5 minutes or less now.
Those stay the same. DO NOT TOUCH THEM.
That's a local IP address. Find the one that starts with 192.168.1.
In your terminal, type in ip a and see what you get.
i plugged in the ethernt and turned off the wifi, but i cant see my mac
and if i search stuff on internet it says i am not connected
so ethernet is not working for some reasons
Hmmmm, that means it's not getting a connection from the router.
OR... no, wait.
AdGuard.
shit.
🥲
In your router, set the IPV4 DNS back to normal.
thats what i tried..

but nop
oh wait
that
yeha no, not working
ok wait
its working the ethernet now, let me try set it up again
something is not working again, the ip was the same as the other, so i put everything back together but it doesnt work…
AHHAHA I AM RETARD
i forgot i stopped adguard

HA integration still gives me "Failed to connect"
lol are you calling me old?
lol you could just ping me 🙂 But... let me read... so, you got your ethernet setup, but HA still isn't seeing adguard?
Eh, I do too, but it's fine... I'm still technically helping you and half the time I bounce around so much, I forget to come back
thats why i just send a normal message
seemes like you see the white dot of the chat without needing of ping

Sometimes, if I'm actually paying attention to Discord lol But like I didn't see any of those last night.
Alright... so, what's the ethernet ip address of the mac?
fair enough
AND... do you have firewall on?
192.168.1.186
i have defualt settings
Wasn't that the WiFi one?
😅
it uses the same now
i turned the wifi off and now its using that for ethernet
its off yes
Ok. So, try your integration again... make sure SSL is turned off (both checkboxes)
Ok, and if you try to add the integration again, does it go through?
yep not working
i think theres something wrong with the port
cuz to get to the UI website i dont need to put the port
Whatever name you want 🙂
What's it saying when you try to save it?
Is Redirect to HTTPS checked or unchecked?
i never had it checked
but neither "enable encryption"
and if i check it and put a random name to the "server name" i cant save it
Ok ok... let's try something else. Can you remote into the HA console? Did you install the Advanced Terminal and SSH addon?
yes
Ok, ssh into the HA console and try curl http://192.168.1.186:3000 and see what it says.
Ok, that's the issue then... is your rPi ethernet or WiFi?
ethernet
Try ping 192.168.1.186

lol input from the keyboard.
Ok, so it can ping your mac, but can't get to port 3000

You're able to open adguard web on the mac, right?
And you're SURE the firewall is off?
yes
🤔
The ONLY thing I can think of is that the adguard conf port (3000) is being blocked for some reason.
But port 80 does... which makes sense.
Ok, in your ssh, try curl http://192.168.1.186
➜ ~ curl http://192.168.1.186
Found.
ahaha doesnt seem good
No. That is good.
That means that HA can connect to Adguard.
And you're sure your username/password is correct?
Maybe try resetting your password just to be sure.
yes
i am sure its corerect
cuz if i try to log in in otehr devices it works
@olive spire
my wifi is gone
like nothing works, nothing loads
wtf happened
i didnt click anything
wait wtf, my mac just went offline…
idk
i have no clue
my mom told me we didnt have internet it was true
i wasnt able to access anything
i went and remove the IP address of my mac from my router, so now its working without adguard
so i had the IP of the mac under "Broadband Connection (Ethernet)"
should i put it in Network "(Home/Office)"
whats the difference from "Broadband Connection (Ethernet)" to "Ethernet"
bro i have no idea what i need to do and what i am doing wrong for this adguard thing
🥲
if i try to load the ui of adguard website it doesnt work
i just see it now
my mac ethernet ip changed
its 169.254.173.126
welp
i think i might have fixed
by going to the mac settings and specifing the IP to use
nvm the UI of adguard is not loading anyway...
nothing is loading after putting the IP back in Ethernet settings on my router
if i try searching anything on my mac on google it says “no internet connection”, if i go to the network settings it says “Ethernet” connected.
💀
Ok. Catching up. Hold on.
Ok. That’s just weird. So, the IP of you Mac went away? Where were you seeing Broadband connection and Ethernet???
yeah
in network settings tab
under network connections
The IP should be under Ethernet.
But, I still don’t understand how it lost the network connection.
and not unduer broadband?
Take a screen cap.
Yup
