Please use imgur or other image sharing web sites, and share the link here.

Image posting is blocked in most channels to discourage people from sharing text as images. Sharing text as images assumes that everybody sees the world as you do, which isn't the case. Some people are colour blind, or have visual impairment that means they can't make sense of an image of text.

Ah... Tuya

spice wolf
#

ah is it not allowed in the sub?

crude canyon
#

No... it's just a brand well known to be utter shite

#

The only good thing about it is the price

#

99% of people that buy Tuya regret it

spice wolf
#

Yh, i’ve installed them in my ceiling light and don’t really want to rip them out

crude canyon
#

1% are lucky and buy some of the few non-junk Tuya devices

spice wolf
#

is there any way to force apply custom definintiion?

crude canyon
#

Not that I know of

spice wolf
#

or use something other than brand name or id

crude canyon
#

That device is so far from standards compliant that it's not even funny

spice wolf
#

like ieeeAddr

crude canyon
#

Most Tuya is less badly behaved than that one

#

And that's saying something

spice wolf
#

ah that’s a shame

#

I got baited because there’s is similar looking branded version which is officially supported on z2m

#

and the manual even says that brands name

crude canyon
#

Send it back?

spice wolf
#

yh the value is not significant, its £4, but its more the effort wiring it into the ceiling light circuit

#

And also curiosity of trying to make it work

crude canyon
#

I understand... but... if that side is so badly behaved do you want to risk the electrical side also being bad?

#

I mean... it's only your house burning down. That's fine? Right 😛

spice wolf
#

True

#

this is the one that’s supported

#

looks and feels the same

crude canyon
#

And the database entry is blank for manufId and modelId?

spice wolf
#

Database entry

{"id":7,"type":"Unknown","ieeeAddr":"0x70b3d52b600aa863","nwkAddr":36884,"epList":[1],"endpoints":{"1":{"epId":1,"inClusterList":[],"outClusterList":[],"clusters":{"genOnOff":{"attributes":{"onOff":1}},"manuSpecificTuya_3":{"attributes":{"powerOnBehavior":2,"switchType":0}},"genBasic":{"attributes":{"appVersion":100}}},"binds":[],"configuredReportings":[],"meta":{}}},"appVersion":100,"interviewCompleted":false,"meta":{},"lastSeen":1714999281469}

glad shard
#

The device is probably shit... If it's not reporting it's model and manufacturer, that's a huge red flag.

crude canyon
#

Buy something not Tuya

spice wolf
#

fair, thanks! will rip this out and buy shelly or sonoff

crude canyon
#

Well... maybe not Sonoff

spice wolf
#

shelly it is haha

crude canyon
#

Sonoff's just slightly better than Tuya

glad shard
#

lol Shelly > Sonoff

#

Or, if you're set on Zigbee, Aqara T1 is also a good relay as well. (Albeit a little pricier)

spice wolf
#

interestingly, i wanted to test if having this relay connected to this light will allow my battery powered zigbee devices to connect upstairs (where normally the connection doesn’t reach)

#

and despite it not being supported, it acts as a relay just fine

crude canyon
#

Innr plugs are awesome routers

spice wolf
glad shard
#

Their bulbs are good too.

spice wolf
#

was a hobbiest move, didn’t really need to mess around with this

#

and now partly regret it
