bru it can see from so far though
wtf
it literally sees me from outside the room๐
Probably reflecting heat off the wall or another surface.
heat? wdym?
PIR sensors read infrared (read thermal) energy.
The infrared sensor filters out other light wavelengths
ah
mh ok i see ty
i am having problems with the basement, idk why
it wont turn on the light when it detects me๐
That might be signal related, but not sure. Do you see it detect you in HA?
yeah
it takes like a second for some reasons but ye
Post the automation.

Hmmmm, yeah. Maybe just a crap bulb or interference? I had a bulb that was acting like that and it ended up being the socket it was connected to was faulty. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
sorry being busy this last days, i just want to make sure, you said that the aqara motion sensor is very good and good for wide/side stuff?
No worries... Yeah, the P1 or the Hue (the Hue > P1 imho).
the aqara is currently on sale, so i thought about getting that one
but i am still unsure on what to do for the three switches, as the aqara is for an automation for that
yeah
I thought you were going to go with relays or something behind the switch? No? I can't remember...
we said tp link
Ohhhhh right!!! yeah, now I remember.
It wouldn't be my first choice...
its not bad
It's not, I'm just not a huge fan of Kasa kit.
i do have one already in the kitchen..
Personally, I'd go with the aqara single rockers, but that's just because my aqara rockers work so well.
But, they are more expensive.
If you already have Kasa stuff, go with the Kasa ones? I dunno.
Yeah, and that's why I don't like Kasa.
But I also have Tuya stuff in my house (only WiFi), so I can't really complain about cloud requirements (even if I'm using localTuya)
actually i realized that tp link boarders or whatver they are called, the things around the switch are way too big to put all 3 together
so i would need to get also a thing to make them stay together
whats the degrees angle of the HUE?
i just tested ikea motion sensor a bit more, and yeah they are so unreliable, sometimes they turn on right way, sometimes they take like 2 seconds, sometimes they just dont do anything, and then it takes them at least 5 seconds to tell that is clear..
๐
so for the automation i had downstairs i think it just a motion sensor problem, lights are working pretty good
damn , see i went in front of it and it didnt even turn on
Not sure. I think something like 120? Iโm working ATM, but I can see if I can dig up an info sheet later.
i went for it...
50 bucks
๐
Nice! Hopefully you like the P1 (I do, but it's always subjective lol)
more then i like it its more if it works for what i need to ahhaa
Woot!!! New TOYS!!! Let me know how it goes!
hopefully they work how i need them too!
If not, you can force them into submission. ๐
how do i connect aqara to zigbee stick?
and do they already give a battery inside?๐ฎ
(btw its so small lmao)
I know! The size is awesome!
Put it into pairing mode by holding the small button on the back for about 5 seconds and it'll blink on and off.
perfect ty
is it normal that it takes about 30 sec to say "clear"?
to change state?
Z2M, right?
yes
You can adjust that... in the device in Z2M, go to Exposes. Click the button on the back of the sensor and then adjust the detection interval down to 10.
But you have to be quick.
Z2M its MQTT right?
No, Zigbee2MQTT
Go to exposes... then, put your cursor in the detection interval box, adjust it to 10. Then QUICKLY press the button on the back of the sensor.
whats the difference of doing it here and directly in HA device tab?
Easier in Z2M because it's a pain in the ass trying to get the cadence right for it to take the setting.
oh ok
Sometimes it takes me 3 or 4 tries to get it right.
gotta remember that then
It's the only downside to the P1 (imho)
But, you'll know you have it right when it blinks twice.
What I basically do is click the back button a bunch of times, then make the change in Z2M. It'll blink twice and be happy.
yeah or even other tabs
i also get this
Yup. Like I said, it's a pain in the ASS.
Nope. That's just a get.
It'll try to save as soon as you change the value in the textbox.
So, click the button on the sensor a bunch of times... change the number in Z2M, and then click the button again. It'll eventually blink twice.
If I can do it, you can do it... quit complaining so much. lmao
ok let me see
(fortunately, you only need to do this once)
What?
ITS soo goood
it sees me so far and with a great angle
Told ya ๐
Plus, bonus... battery is supposed to last like 3-5 years. Probably a little less with higher detection rates though.
But the one I've got here in my office has been going for over 6 months now with TONS of detections and still reporting 100%... soooo, yeah.
niceeee
@thorn fossil
i have a question about switches and electricity
do you know anything of them?
Sorry!!! I was AFK. Ummm, Iโm not an electrician, but Iโll try to answer?
welp i am having a problem with a switch, the thing is that its a 2 way switch (i am think its called like that i understood correctly)
theres two switches that controls one light, and when i changed one switch to be smart, the light just went crazy and started blinking without stopping
also look how well it works!
