Hi folks! I need to get a couple of new smart bulbs that I want to use with Home Assistant. Ideally they should work with HA without an extra app or account from any external company. And they should be able to change colors. Which bulbs do you recommend?

Looking for advice about a device to buy? Remember to provide guidance on:

  • Which country you're in
  • What your budget is
  • What protocols you prefer (eg Zigbee, WiFi, Z-Wave)
  • Any features you want (such as power monitoring, dimming, etc)

Sounds like you want Zigbee bulbs

Germany, budget is secondary, protocol secondary, but no hubs or accounts, dimming and color

Hue's bulbs (Zigbee) are pretty much the gold standard

#

Innr and Gledopto do good bulbs too, and Ikea's CT (colour temperature white) bulbs aren't bad - all Zigbee

No, they're not

Sorry, are we talking about Philips Hue?

Yes

#

They're Zigbee

#

Any Zigbee device works without the manufacturer hub

I can use those without the bridge. But I cannot put them in pairing mode and so forth.

Yes, you can

Nope.

Nope

Ok.

#

You do you

#

I'll sit over here in reality and leave you to it

Okay. Then tell me how I can put a Philips Hue light into pairing mode without the Hub please 🙂

Why don't you read the link I posted, that you ignored in favour of repeating yourself and telling me I don't know what I'm talking about

#

And on that note, I'm done here

good luck

If you have a Hue bridge already you can just use that to reset them anyway, no? And new ones are in pairing mode out of the box so if you're talking about adding new bulbs getting them into pairing mode is not an issue.
