Nothing I have is google branded, I'm afraid. Just the HAY and these Nanoleaf Matter bulbs - I'm a bit confused where Google or Google Home comes into play here

#

Right, right, the phone is Android ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ You're telling me that I need to borrow somebody's Google Hub once to kickstart it, then I can return it?

#

I got a Google home mini, I'll see if using that evil rat bastard works. Damn you, wiretap! ๐Ÿ–•

That's so stupid (on Google's end). Any advice on how to confirm if what I have is a v2, or is Google going to be my friend here?

Note: The Google Nest Mini (2nd gen) has a wall mount screw slot on the back. If your device doesn't have a wall mount screw slot, it is a Google Home Mini (1st gen).

Darn........ Welp, guess I gotta go get one

@elder temple Got a home mini gen 2 set-up and connected to the same network that the HAY is on, but same deal.

Am I misunderstanding, do I need to add the lights to my Google Home network first, then I can see them in HAY? My intent is to unplug the Nest hub when done

HOLY SHIT EVERYTHING WORKS ๐ŸŽ‰

I added a bulb via GH, unplugged the Home Mini, and now I was able to add a second bulb using HA Matter explode

This "kickstart" method seemed to work! However I had to do two things:

  1. Factory reset the nanoleaf essentials matter bulb
  2. Add via code, not QR

Beers on me, eh?

Even the fkn color control works, which iirc the update notes for HA said wasn't supported yet!
