#out of curiosity if i wanna extend the

An AP is basically a router without any routing capabilities. As long as you use the LAN ports on the router (and ideally it supports AP mode) it's fine
i noticed that the router i have has a wan port(tha t s the one connected to the isp router) 2 ports numbered(the lan ones, main pc and server are connected to those) and an iptv/3 port. never heard of that what is it"?
also you mean i should plug the cable coming from the router that i already have in the lan port of the new router?
Yes
why is that? i was thinking the internet needs to come in the wan port like for the other one? if it s in the lan and put in ap mode it won t create a new network?
You've got that the wrong way around
If you connect the WAN port you'll create a whole new network
oh yeah that s what i mean t by the question. my phrasing was better in my head with the intonation xD
well thanks. then i ll see which is cheaper of those 2
i m guessing i want a gigabit one wether ap or router since that s what the switch provides as well
You'd be hard pushed to find one without a gbit port
i also saw those plug in socket extenders that have an ethernet port? are they any good?
for some reason i see some with only few hundread mbs not gigabit. and they re much more expensive than normal routers
@pulsar kettle When using Discord's Reply feature it defaults to pinging the person you reply to, which can get frustrating for the target. Use Shift + click on the Reply option, or click @ ON to @ OFF to stop this - on the right side of the compose bar.
You have to change this every time (thank the Discord devs for that).
Then you're shopping in the '90s
1 more thing. i see on some routers with dual band that they say sth like 600 +1300Mbps
that means the 2.4 is 600 and the 5ghz is 1300?
ofc i didn t really expect getting it. idk why it s like that but i should have 1.5gigs. it s certainly faster than it was before but i never once got the advertised speed on any plan
i m guessing 500-600 is ok for the 2.4gbps right? smart devices won t need more than that i guess
Well, you won't get close to that unless you're living in the arse end of nowhere and can max out your channel widths
But most smart devices won't even be using 10 Mb/s
oh yeah about channels. i was thinking on switching a bit around to see how it improoves the speed and find a stable channel that won t interfere with zigbee cause i m planning on getting on that as well. I noticed in the past that if i switch channels devices become more unstable. is it something normal?
meh i guess in an apartment building every channel would be crowded anyways
would you suggest separating back the 2.4 and 5 ghz network and merge them on the other router since there are very few devices that connect to that?
What problem do you have that you're trying to solve?
devices dissconect due to range mostly that would be the problem
and i think it might also have to do with the fact that the 2 bands are merged together but i m not sure
Probably not, unless your router is kicking clients to get them to connect to the other band
