Thanks. I'm just trying to get "all the right stuff" in my cart, so I can send it to the spending committee ๐Ÿ™‚

fathom spire
#

so

#

i think you're good on no yellow springs

#

seems it comes with them

languid thistle
#

neo kit already has the upgraded springs. just need the pipe and the two-gear extruder?

fathom spire
#

the aluminum extruder you can upgrade later since it comes with one but it's the shit design

#

the capricorn tube is a 100% must

languid thistle
#

And some PLA and maybe some spare nozzles? 0.4m?

fathom spire
#

i would literally put the old one in a box and never use it

#

dont buy spare nozzles

#

if you want a new nozzle that's fine but dont buy cheap brass

languid thistle
#

copper?

fathom spire
#

i use these

#

copper plated are harder than brass so they dont get shredded when you use abraisive filaments like glow in the dark or wood fill or whatever

#

yet better than stainless steel / hardened steel because steel fucks up the temperatures

languid thistle
#

I'll cross that bridge when I get different filament. For now it's mostly going to be shop-jigs, holders, etc.

fathom spire
#

so you have to offset temperatures when you use steel ones but not copper plated

languid thistle
#

So from the cart above, just need the updated metal extruder with two gears? Digging.

fathom spire
#

brass is fine to start out with but if i started over i would replace mine immediately with copper plated

#

the nozzles wear down no matter what goes through them for brass

languid thistle
#

orly? that's no good?

fathom spire
#

comgrow isnt really an option when people say "what filament do you use"

#

it's probably a rebrand of some chinese stuff

#

hatchbox is pretty good

languid thistle
#

btw, how do I get designs onto the printer? It's not networked, right, so need sd card?

fathom spire
#

i am lucky i can get inland brand locally or on amazon

#

if you can get inland brand i'd suggest that cuz it's good and relatively cheap

#

otherwise try hatchbox, sunlu, esun

#

then there are lots of fancy filament brands that overcharge for cool colors like filamentium or proto pasta or whatever

fathom spire
#

you can run an octoprint container on proxmox if you want

languid thistle
#

printer will be in my workshop, long way away from the proxmox

fathom spire
#

i have a $8 knockoff pi camera connected to the csi camera port on each pi

#

otherwise you can use microsd or sd card whatever that printer uses

languid thistle
#

One of my pi, which I don't know where it's gone, has a camera tophat

fathom spire
#

cool

#

you can use a pi 3 or better

#

or pi zero 2 w

#

you can also technically use an old android phone or something via a community hack but i wouldnt use that myself

languid thistle
#

I'm trying to find the upgraded extruder on amazon again

fathom spire
#

you might want the dual connector variant

#

it's the same thing just has a spot to put a tube on both sides (like directly to a dry box to keep filament dry)

languid thistle
#

amazon au seems to mostly have eSun and Comgrow brand pla

fathom spire
#

weird

languid thistle
#

"Ships from Australia" probably limits it a lot.

fathom spire
#

esun isnt bad i've never used it but plenty of people like it

#

i've used a multicolor eryone that was good

#

i really like ttyt3d silk rainbow pla too

#

i wouldnt use that as your first roll tho

#

silks expand when printing and layer adhesion isnt as good as non silks

#

but they're really cool for printing stuff

#

plenty of good brands / colors just not always cheap

languid thistle
#

Will just buy some esun for now. Easy to start, local shipping. International super slow right now

fathom spire
#

yea

languid thistle
#

Can't find the dual-gear extruder locally yet.

fathom spire
#

you can get it later

#

to start out the stock one is fine

languid thistle
#

Or decent quality??? nozzles?

fathom spire
#

because it's the aluminum version

#

the stock plastic one breaks when you bend the arm to replace filament

languid thistle
fathom spire
#

mine broke within 2 weeks of owning the printer on 3 of them lol

#

just dont buy nozzles for now

#

it comes with one pre installed and at least one extra

languid thistle
#

Only $7 ๐Ÿ™‚ ok

fathom spire
#

you arent gonna need a new one in a week..

#

more like multiple months

languid thistle
#

So, minus the nozzles, looks like everything I need?

fathom spire
#

if you post on reddit.com/r/3dprinting anyone who knows their shit is gonna tell you to buy a good nozzle and not worry with a 20 pack of brass junk

#

i think so let me look

languid thistle
#
#

Getting black, orange and purple. My colours :0

fathom spire
#

ya looks good

#

if you end up buying it all let me give you amazon affiliate links to all that tho :x

#

free $

languid thistle
#

Sure

#

Would your affiliate links work in AU shop?

#

My wife is awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

fathom spire
#

i sent you a pm

languid thistle
#

wonder if it's worth holding out for any black-friday sales?

fathom spire
#

maybe
