today i installed homeassistant on my esxi 7 server. I use the file 'haos_ova-8.5.ova'. When i try to add the mqtt integration, i had to fill the field 'broker'. I don't know what to enter. The field is also not described in the documentation. Please help.

the ip address of your mosquitto/mqtt broker

Where is your broker? Do you have the mosquitto add-on installed?

#

Or do you have it running somewhere else?

#

To use the mqtt integration, you first need a mqtt broker

#

If using the add-on, then it would be the same ip address that HA has

This is my second homassistant instalallation. I try to install mqtt-integration instead of mosquitto add-on. Thx!

you do need the mqtt integration, but that is only used to tell HA where your broker is, so first you need the broker (add-on)

#

Remove the integration. Install the add-on. Start the add-on. Give it a minute to start running. Then restart HA. Then go back to integrations and the broker should be discovered and it should ask you if you want to configure the integration
