@viscid orchid Which is correct.
Enter and leave zone wasn’t working properly after upgrading so I downgrading back to 0.112.4. I did however delete all my automations and start over in 0.112.4 after downgrading.
@hallow raptor you restarted HA after seeing the "OK" in the logs for duckdns?
Yes with no success.
You still have automations that require mode, so it’s probably failing the check and not restarting
No I don’t lose connection. Can I post my automations code?
You said that you deleted all your automatons, but it’s clear from the log that you still have some and they rely on a feature from 0.113
Something is fishy
there's a config check that happens before a restart. If an error is found, it won't restart and you likely have a notification in the lower left corner
I deleted all from the automations. I didn’t physically delete the coding automation.yaml
No. All my automations are in that file.
so you did not delete all your automations, heh
I did from the configuration>autiomation. Then I redid all the automations. Maybe something didn't delete properly.
Can I just delete all the coding in there and redo it?
I deleted and it's rebooting now.
you can cut everything out and paste it all into some other file if you want to recreate it later
I'll just recreate them.
Couple things I wanted to change anyway. Awaiting reboot now.
It’s WORKING’
🎉
@sly kindle I truly appreciate the assistance!
Does Home Assistant support mstream ?
Just about to download the docker image traccar by hassioaddons and I notice there's a different image for armv7 and armhf. I thought these were the same thing? I'm using an rpi 3b+, so just looking for advice on which to use https://hub.docker.com/search?q=hassioaddons%2Ftraccar&type=image
If you can log in to your HA container with terminal, you could run ha info to see information about the architectures your device supports.
I'm sure it used to be displayed somewhere in the UI too but I can't remember where.
Running "uname -m" returns "armv71". My question is, I thought armhf was a reference to armv7, and if so why are there two images
Can't help you there, sorry
I'd probably go for the armv7, no idea why they made two.
I'm wondering if one is meant to be armv6 for older rpi devices
Perhaps, though officially nothing below a 3B+ is supported.
Well, not recommended, anyway.
Eh, they have armv7 and armhf images for all the containers so I guess I must just not fully understand the difference. 😄 A google search indicates they're the same also. Would be interesting to find out what the difference is.
Running "dpkg --print-architecture" returns armhf. I guess armhf might simply be referring to anything running armv7+, while the armv7 image isn't compatible with armv71+?
I'm having a bit of a problem with autodiscovery and Mosquitto. Until now I have been using some tasmota devices, and simply by pointing those devices to Mosquitto and giving the correct credentials, they were automatically discovered by Mosquitto and added to Home Assistant.
Yesterday however, I installed P1 Monitor and also pointed that towards Mosquitto, but no new devices show up in Home Assistant. What could I be doing wrong? Note: I don't really know what is needed for autodiscovery, since it automatically worked for my Tasmota devices, and I'm also a layman in MQTT. So I might be overlooking very basic things.
edit: also posted to integrations channel
I'm trying to use the hassioaddons traccar image for docker (https://hub.docker.com/r/hassioaddons/traccar-armhf), however I'm getting an error which crashes the container on startup.
"curl: (6) Could not resolve host: supervisor"
"ERROR: Something went wrong contacting the API"
I imagine it's because I don't have the supervisor installed (installed home assistant in container). Is it possible to use these images without supervisor?
I'm not sure, as I don't use it, but in general, even if you install your own Home Assistant Core on, say, Ubuntu + Docker, you can still run everything via Supervisor and get it all to work. In general many add-ons expect the Supervisor REST to be present; for Ingress, for config.json, for probably lots of things that I'm not thinking of off the top of my head...
That will still let you run other things on your Host OS, but let the whole HomeAssistant ecosystem work mostly as expected
Right, so might be worth moving away from the container to the supervisor approach. Do I remember hearing that supervisor is less of a focus for upgrades/improvements than other install methods?
This is what I was thinking about
Don't really want to move towards this unless it's likely to be supported in the long term
In regards to the motioneye add-on and the uploads of motion detection snapshots I finally got it to work with google drive!! Although whenever motioneye is restarted the link is revoked and have to create the key again. Is there a way around this? Ideally I'd still like to create a nodered flow to alert me to telegram of motioneye alerts but had no success yet.
anybody can tell me why glances has this weird cpu consumption pattern?
https://imgur.com/n8KSnzR
hm, HA too has a weird timeline
https://imgur.com/a6krgre
@wheat shadow addons are for installs with a supervisor.
Yeah, figured as much. Is it likely that you'll move away from supervisor support in future? I don't really want to set it up if it's unlikely to be around for long
After the initial announcement that the supervised version would be deprecated, there was quite an outcry from people still using it. I believe the official decision is that there are no longer plans to deprecate - by extension, I'd take that to mean there's still going to be plenty of support for it.
@wheat shadow The HA OS install uses docker and the supervisor. They are what define the installation/project. Duplicating that install on an OS of your own choosing is where things start to go wonky. So that link above defines what is supported for such an install.
Thanks for the link. I'll do some research
Hi folks, is there a way to undock node red from Hass for more screen real estate? Or some other method? Could have sworn I saw this at one point, but I can't find anything on it.
I'm getting messaged that my cert is about to expire from Let's Encrypt but all I'm seeing is old guides for the auto-renew, can anyone point me in the direction of an updated way to check this out?
Hey guys is there a other addon that still works or a way to make it work again? https://github.com/Tig3rch3n/HassIO-addon-diyHue
What are you trying to do, Zyankali? Just control Hue bulbs?
i using zigbee2mqtt and that works fine i want to get rid of my hue gridge but i wanne still use the entertaiment mode , cause i got an ambilight tv
with hassio i cant just install diy hue like i would use an rasbian os or?
Maybe. Add-ons are just Docker containers with random software inside. You could look at what that add-on runs and set it up yourself on another device.
Hi. I did install wireguard addon 0.3.2 on supervised Hass. System is ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS. I cannot manage to connect to the vpn from ios device when I am on LTE (but interestingly enough, I do when connect to home wifi); log report "Handshake did not complete after 5 seconds, retrying". Anybody can give me a hint? txs
I have a similar issue connecting to my local Wireguard installation directly in Ubuntu from inside my network
one day I will care enough to track it down, but it's not really an interesting use case
I'm sure it has something to do with hairpin NAT or something
@viscid orchid but you may connect from the outside? 🙃
Yes, which is the only part that matters
exactly.
in my case I think it has to do with routes, but I have spent the full day reading posts and changing the setting and went out of ideas ...
Oh, sorry. Misread your original comment 🙂
nopro. but I am going to be out for a few days and really need to get this up ...
hi all. in the File editor add-on is a button "Git" with init/commit/push. where/how can i setup this function?
Use the terminal. Type git init, follow the instructions.
If you're new to using git, the GitHub website has great guides.
ok thx, im understand, familar with git, was thinking there is a posibiliti to configure this in HA config
No. It's an editor/terminal thing. You need a .git folder present.
Hello, is the mosquito mqtt adress the same as the ip adress of the home assistant?
yes
thanks!
@viscid orchid sure it's not DNS?
oh I only read as far back as your comment my bad
could be DNS, could be borked port forwarding, could be some other firewall thing
once I updated my local DNS server it correctly reported the internal IP of my PI
and I could connect again on the wifi
I need to figure out this issue with let's encrypt, so I can get it to auto-renew now
I'm sure the broken in-network VPN connectivity on my setup is something simple, it's just not a use case that I need. I'll dig into it one day when I'm bored
I feel you, I also have a "only when I bored" list
but I know blocking WAN redirects is also an issue
with VPN/SSL
mine was trying to go out then in, and my firewall said nope
even tho the port was forwarded
LOL
logging with Wireguard is poorer than OpenVPN, so it's a bit harder to see what's going on
ahh
OpenVPN could spill its guts if you wanted
I used to, but switched to Wireguard because it seemed like all the cool kids were
Anyone know how to get access to the Unifi add-on data folder?
@crimson granite posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/c9r54RjKVh/
hi folks. issue setting up a switch with the rpi-rf addon/platform as described here: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/rpi_rf/
i am using homeassistant-os and added the following part in my configuration.yaml:
- platform: rpi_rf
gpio: 17
switches:
bodenlampe: #1000
code_on: 1115473
code_off: 1115476
pulselength: 305
protocol: 1
billyregal: #0100
code_on: 1118545
code_off: 1118548
pulselength: 305
protocol: 1```
it fails to validate the config (wheel just keeps spinning without error message) and after reboot, the switch is not created.
are there issues with rpi_rf on homeassistant-os?
oh and by the way. the code is copy & paste from my previous home assistant install and works fine on a current homeassistant_core setup on another raspberry.
are you using a 64-bit install?
no, 32
Always run the configuration check command when you make changes. Don't trust the UI check - it misses some problems.
you'll need to deal with the config problem first
as soon as i remove the above paragraph from the config i can successfully validate again
this is an #integrations-archived , not an add-on
oh. ok...
- Please move to #integrations-archived , 2. run the check as described by the bot
RobC dont know what changed it, but it works now. ran the check command before readding the code again, saved, validated and then it worked fine.
what version of HA?
113.0
Mine too, on 112.4
latest version needs 113.2 or newer
Looks like it's upgrade time
Thanks
Hi i create a local network with samba share (HASSIO) , but i not at home and i would access to this network (i have a internet connexion) and differents files to home assistant config. .I have nabu.casa acces but i can t adding files to custom_components .
i have SSH server , but how to acces to HASSIO files config ? Regards.
You SSH in... and you use the terminal.
Once you're connected, use pwd to see what folder you're in and ls to see the contents of the current folder. Then nano or vi to edit files.
If you don't recognise those commands, find a guide online.
i see a console nano 4.6 but i m lost !
It's going to be difficult to help you if you don't know how to use a Linux system at all.
I suggest looking on the internet for a guide.
Ok thank you for your help. Regards
Hi sorry, i have also access to my config with nabu.casa but i dont know how to copy HACS on custom_components. Regards.
Hi, I'm using motionEye to display 4 rtsp cameras but 62% cpu is suddently using. Is it a solution to decrease this CPU usage ? thanks
Hi sorry, i have also access to my config with nabu.casa but i dont know how to copy HACS on custom_components. Regards.
@light pier If you can't access the file system, you'll have to use something likewget. Again, it's Linux...
I have access on config system , config, custom_components, ... but copy/coller dont work and i cant upload several files
So wget/curl then 🤷♂️
HA is really great and tries to make things easy for you but sometimes you need to learn about how it works.
😫
Is there a way to revert to a previous version of an addon with supervisor? I updated deCONZ and now it won't start.
no, you need to restore the previous addon version from a snapshot
@viscid orchid thank you for your help yesterday with my wireguard addon issue. I gave up with the addon, and built a pivpn with wireguard. Working like a charm 😀
I like addons for things that have a direct relationship to HA in some way, but not so much for other things like PlexMediaServer or Wireguard or..
Hello, can someone explain what"Add the following to resources in your lovelace config:" means? is the lovelace config the one i can edit with the raw config editor?
If you’re managing Lovelace through the UI, you should manage resources via
-> Dashboards and use the Resources tab
And if you install a custom card from HACS, it does it automatically
Those instructions are already outdated because resources aren’t specified in the Lovelace YAML anymore
@blissful loom I was really excited to help solve that one, could you please break it again and go back so I may feel of some use?
Yeah hard to understand everything if you can't tell which information is relevant and which is outdated
@eager ravine that's why I couldn't figure out my auto-renew on let's encrypt
old docs
new docs not so easy to find
yeah, but this happens when there is so much development. still impressed of all the things you can do with ha
The direction is for most of that stuff to be handled automatically or through the UI for most users. The jumble of old instructions is why that’s the direction 🙂
@viscid orchid I totally get that, just wish I could /dev/null the old docs most of the time
Many components and cards have ‘1. Install through HACS, 2. Done’
‘Manual installation:<page of text>’
And the latter is often outdated in some way
@viscid orchid yup, but there are some guides that also have you trying old methods of install of requirements and those old methods no longer exist or no longer work
Hi all, can anyone help with the configuration of let's encrypt with DuckDNS? I can't get it to start (also no log file to tell me what's wrong)
@weary stratusAzle242 😀 let´s break it in September. I need my vpn in August. Txs
@hexed compass the duckDNS addon doesn't have a log?
@blissful loom sure if I remember in September
I get an error in my duckdns log, multiple times like this:
"type": "urn:ietf:params:acme:error:rejectedIdentifier", "detail": "Error creating new order :: Domain name needs at least one dot", "status": 400, "identifier": { "type": "dns", "value": "u"
Apparently I removed the dash (-) in the config, leading domains:
@topaz summit posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/SjTv3nnnMg/
@hexed compass the duckDNS addon doesn't have a log?
@boreal bane It has a log option, but the log is empty
@hexed compass restart the addon and then go to the logs page. Theres also the refresh button on the log page to use
@hexed compass restart the addon and then go to the logs page. Theres also the refresh button on the log page to use
@sly kindle I can't REstart because it never started..:(
I click the refresh button and the log is still empty
@hexed compass if it isn't starting then there would be no logs
check the supervisor > system page instead
@sly kindle Ok, this is what I get:
ERROR (SyncWorker_3) [supervisor.docker] Can't start addon_core_letsencrypt: 500 Server Error: Internal Server Error ("driver failed programming external connectivity on endpoint addon_core_letsencrypt (6c71aeb01b3c5b208aee831221a8d2041cd04735c3233b82): Error starting userland proxy: listen tcp 0.0.0.0:80: bind: address already in use")
are you starting duckdns addon or LE addon?
Because that message is about the LE addon
and you have port 80 in use
somewhere
@sly kindle DuckDNS is running. I am talking about the LE addon
you don't need the LE addon.
Duckdns addon already uses LE when you set "accept_terms" to true
Didn't know that... So why my site states "Not secure" at the browser?
did you configure http: in your configuration.yaml?
yes
Uncomment this if you are using SSL/TLS, running in Docker container, etc.
http:
base_url: XXXX.duckdns.org:8123
Now I see... I guess it is under the category of RTFU
So should I comment it?
@sly kindle I am running my HA from a virtual box on windows. Does it count as a docker container?
acutally base_url is deprecated
that's not what you want to add, it's the ssl_ lines which point to your certificate files
ssl_certificate: /ssl/fullchain.pem
ssl_key: /ssl/privkey.pem```
That's what you should have
and yes uncomment it, but don't leave a space in front of http:
To answer your other question, if you are running a vm of HA OS, then it is using docker, yes.
ssl_certificate: /ssl/fullchain.pem ssl_key: /ssl/privkey.pem```
@sly kindle Changed to that and now the server isn't coming up after a reset.
By the way, thanks for the support, I highly appreciate it
Ok, it did come up but still as a none secured page
@hexed compass for https://local_ip:8123 ?
that would be expected. You should see a warning page
Does https://your_duck.duckdns.org work?
yes
Without the :8123 at the end it worked to reach my router (as expected), but with the :8123 extension it does not work
But the android app works... in the app the URL is configures as https://xxx.duckdns.org:8123/
@sly kindle OK it works!!!
that's a matter of what ports you are forwarding
@sly kindle Thanks a lot for the support, and helping me understand this concept
443 to 8123 means you don't need to add :8123 at the end
8123 to 8123 means you would add :8123 at the end
Or if you are using both of those on your router, then it wouldn't matter, but you might forget
8123 to 8123 means you would add :8123 at the end
@sly kindle I use this
http://hassio.local:8123/ now does not work. Any idea why?
check your actual hostname at supervisor > system > host card
in the ui
does it say "hassio" ?
or does it say "homeassistant" ?
Host system
Hostname hassio
System HassOS 4.11
Deployment production
yes
now I did with https, but now it's not secured using that..
right. You are forcing ssl. So now it is always https
The certificate is not valid for the local ip address.
I understand
So would you suggest using the duckDNS link even when I am on my local machine?
it's up to you. If it works, sure
Some people have routers which don't support hairpin nat
so they are unable to use the domain name within their own network
I understand
@sly kindle A serious thanks to you!!! I am on this for several days and couldn't find an explanation all across the web (maybe because my noob questions wasn't even correct). It's really nice to have a chat based support like that. 👏
@sly kindle I know it's prolly outta the scope but I run DNSmasq and have my hostname pointed to the internal ip so the request never makes it to the outside world 😄
so no matter what portforward status is it works
Has anyone got the NUT add-on to work on hassio?
Where is the influxdb database stored in HassIO? My addons folder is empty.
Inside the add-on itself.
Add-ons are Docker containers. Think of them like a mini virtual machine.
So SSH-ing into HassIO wont find the addon?
If you can SSH in to the host, you'll be able to see what Docker containers there are and how big they are.
Alternatively, install the Glances add-on.
Actually, I think Glances only gives a total addons size, not per addon. 😦
Since I have HassIO in an VM I would think I could get access to the host there. But If I hit enter in its terminal it just asks to log on to HA and not the host system.
That's intentional. You're not supposed to go poking around the host or add-ons really.
Glances looked so cool Im gonna install it anyways
If you use the community Terminal add-on, you can run docker images to see sizes.
Is the community one better than the offical one generally? I couldnt really find the differences.
There are many differences, and they're all listed in the documentation.
The main reason I'm suggesting it is in that list too:
Has the option to access the Docker instance running on the host system.
🙂
You can't do that with the official one. The official SSH only lets you get to the HA container.
There we have it. Influxdb-amd64 at 546 MB 🙂
grafana at 852.... whaaat. I only have one 3 panels in one dashboard in grafana.
Yeah... add-ons aren't always the best way to do things. You can get fairly pretty graphs without any of that.
Thanks a lot for the help. I've learnt alot. 🙂
Hey guys! I'm having some problems working with InfluxDB. It works great to get queries from Grafana and doing some visualization. However, I wonder how to do data averaging and purging old data. For example: I'd like to store all real-time sensor data for about 30 days, all hourly averaged sensor data for a year and all daily data indefinitely. I have found some guides on how to average data for one property of one sensor, but I even have some problems trying to set that up, let alone automating that for all sensors. For example, I don't really know where to enter the commands.
I'm running HassOS on a raspberry pi and my supervisor logs are being spammed with the following every 5 seconds:
20-08-02 18:02:56 ERROR (MainThread) [supervisor.homeassistant] Can't update Home Assistant access token!
I think its because one of my addons was ip banned; ip_bans.yaml:
172.30.32.2:
banned_at: '2019-08-01T00:19:58'
How can i figure out which addon has this docker ip so i can fix the issue?
If things are being banned, why not add that whole subnet to your exceptions?
I could do that i guess but i'd rather know what addon is having issues first
Sure... but if it's only having issues because it's getting banned, there's not much to investigate.
I cleared out the banned ip and whitelisted the addon docker subnet and the errors in the logs stopped. I still wish I knew which one had issues but oh well.
Since updating DeConz addon to 6.2.3 it no longer will start and the log in the gui for the addon is blank to even try troubleshooting. I don't have a recent snapshot to roll back (lesson learned to snapshot before updating addons). Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot why it won't start or even log?
Check the Supervisor logs when add-ons don't start.
And if you're still stuck, ask over in #zigbee-archived
@cunning wolf Thank you, looks like a configuration option changed and supervisor logs helped me figure it.
@cunning wolf Do you know how I can find the host for my InfluxDB add-on?
Not a clue, I don't use it. Someone else here should know.
You held your breath for too long 😉
Yes, I did. Copied this into my configuration.yaml:
influxdb:
host: a0d7b954-influxdb
port: 8086
database: homeassistant
username: homeassistant
password: <yourpassword>
max_retries: 3
default_measurement: state
I cannot connect:
Cannot connect to InfluxDB due to 'HTTPConnectionPool(host='a0d7b954-influxdb', port=8086): Max retries exceeded with url: /write?db=homeassistant (Caused by NewConnectionError('<urllib3.connection.HTTPConnection object at 0x7f718c3a30>: Failed to establish a new connection: [Errno -3] Try again'))'. Please check that the provided connection details (host, port, etc.) are correct and that your InfluxDB server is running and accessible. Retrying in 60 seconds.```
Using duckdns, adguard and https setup. I assume that might be related.
Doubtful
If you open the webui of Influx from the addon page, what does it say in the Configuraton tab?
Defaults, I guess? At least I didn't change anything.
auth: true
reporting: true
ssl: true
certfile: fullchain.pem
keyfile: privkey.pem
envvars: []```
No, Open WebUI from the addon page
Did you make sure that the addon started? And created the database?
No, host shouldn’t be changed for this
I’m thinking that maybe boxcee added stuff to configuration.yaml but didn’t actually configure or start the addon
Oh, misread.
It shows one connection: Connected: http://localhost:8086 (default), kapacitor connection http://localhost:9092.
Yes, homeassistant. Here, I uploaded the three screens: https://imgur.com/gallery/l4Uc3cs
thanks
logs from the addon?
also, maybe try using "ssl: false"
looks like that doesn't affect the database connection, though. restarting the addon and HA would be my next steps
I see there is also a ssl setting for the config: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/influxdb/#ssl
Didn't touch it yet though. Changed the ssl: false for the addon only and restarted HA (and the addon).
that looks promising
No success. Will continue tomorrow though. Thanks for the help!
np, good luck. I don't recall having issues having it connect, but it was a while ago and I don't use ssl
Hey all! So I recently moved to a new place and have realized that I am now behind a CGNAT. Was hoping someone could help me choose which would be better suited for remote connections to various devices within my LAN.
Wireguard or Zerotier?
I have a local ubuntu server running HA and it's various add-ons (NginX, Node Red, ESPhome etc..) as well several other docker containers such as Plex/Radarr. Also have several other devices in my LAN I usually connect (couple RPI's and DIY devices).
Anyone familiar with the two?
you're just looking for remote connectivity or what?
Yeah. And I don't have access to my ISP supplied router to do any port forwarding.
can your ISP router be put in bridge mode?
I'm assuming that you have your own router asking this
I don't think so. Don't have access. I have my own router I would wish to use but I would still need to use theirs (it's an all-in-one gateway/router/wifi AP)
what ISP, what country,
Gigamonster fiber in US
your ISP's SSL cert expired
lol I know Gigamonster is shit now that I'm using them..
no, that's not what I was saying at all lol there was something stuck in my keyboard
What are you asking?
I edited my comment I was trying to make
I would get on to their support and ask
because from a brief look at the website its saying using their router is optional
I've tried calling to see if I could get access to the router. No go.
that's not what I said LOL
call support and ask if they can put it in bridge mode so you can use your own router and not theirs
Yes. So I've called twice and asked to speak with a technician. Each time they said they'd have a tech call back. Never received a call..
Will be calling tomorrow AGAIN. I will ask that question.
it seems awful dumb to not allow port forwards
we have an ISP here that's CGNAT, they allow you access to the CPE
but it doesn't matter because packets will never get to you to be forwarded LMFAO
I know. That's basic stuff to have for a end client to have. The person I talked to trying to get in contact with support was dumb AF
well when you get on the phone with support let them know their SSL cert for their website expired yesterday also
haha alright
@empty prairie posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/g5rfhyx6td/
@viscid orchid , that one was for you.
Also opened an issue here: https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-influxdb/issues/86
Okay, seems that I have added the community addons repository twice and then removed the first one. I assume this generates a new slug/repository and therefore the host setting does not match anymore.
That is not possible 🤔
Frenck is probably right that you added a fork of the repo at some point
I am sure he is right. From my perspective everything looked the same.
Can I list them somehow? I still have the 'second' one configured. Then I could share the repo link.
not easily
yeah, but that does not say much
Found it:

Those are 2 compleatly different things
Damn, okay.
in chrome, open dev-tools, and paste this in the console tab:
document.querySelector("home-assistant").hass.callApi("GET", "hassio/supervisor/info").then(e => {console.log(e.data.addons_repositories)})
Wow:

1: "https://github.com/hassio-addons/repository"
ah.
the one with .git is wrong
in the store, click the 3 dots -> repositories, then remove the one that is wrong
That is also fun: https://imgur.com/gallery/1VE76t4

Thanks a lot for the debug!
It should be, run the command in the console after to verify
Hi, I'm trying to create a wifi router with my Rpi 4, HA installed inside with this addon : Hassio Hostapd Extended.
It well create the wifi network but I can't connect my Shelly 1 to this new wifi network...
Here is my Hostapd configuration :
ssid: wifi-rpi
wpa_passphrase: XXXX
channel: '6'
address: 192.168.2.1
netmask: 255.255.255.0

Using NGINX Proxy Manager and AdGuard. When I try to open up UI For NGINX Proxy Manager (which opens up the website: https://domain.duckdns.org:81), I get an ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR.
My external URL is https://domain.duckdns.org
My internal URL is https://IP_address:8123
My configuration.yaml HTTP integration is commented out.
Home Assistant is on a static IP. I did not change it's DNS servers. My router is set up to point to Home Assistant is primary DNS for IPv4 and IPv6. Secondary is Cloudflare.
I think I set up a split DNS correctly:
What am I doing wrong?
split DNS:
->AdGuard->Custom filtering rules: ip_address_of_HASS domain.duckdns.org
->NGINX Proxy Manager -> domain.duckdns forwards over HTTP to ip_address_of_HASS over 8123
Any idea how I can add ssh? teh community addon does not show for me
look at the bottom of the store page 😉
Hi all. Motioneye addon - Is there anyway of getting to the config files? They don't seem to be in the normal /etc/ folder. I'm running hassio supervised on ubuntu. I'm looking for the config file that has the camera IP addresses assigned as in the gui there is no way of modifying them without deleting the camera. cheers
look at the bottom of the store page 😉
@dark yoke I have two instance of HassOS. I am migrating. One I installed a month ago with VMware image has it under official addon. The new NUC HassOS image I installed last week don't have it anywhere in add-on store
Right, there is a line of text at the bottom of the store that tells you why 😉
Hi, how can I add: https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-ledfx to Hassio?
Im trying, and Im getting this in add-ons: https://ibb.co/DR7K22t
It looks like that repository is part of the HA Community Add-ons, which you already have listed. Can't you search for it in the add-on store?
If not, try adding this to your repos: https://github.com/hassio-addons (the parent of the project you're trying to add).
Well its not in the Official add-ons
And adding "https://github.com/hassio-addons" as a custom repo doesnt do anything (because its the default?)
@plucky gyro that is not released
you want to go by what you see in the store, and not at github. If you were to add the hassio-addons "edge" repository, you would see ledfx https://github.com/hassio-addons/repository-edge
Hi, could someone point me in the right direction, why I cannot update AdGuard Home addon DNS blocklists?

The backup tar file from Motioneye - Can I modify this in notepad, save it and restore? Just the url/IP line for the camera.
whats the x86 equivalent of homeassistant/armv7-addon-mosquitto:5.1 ?
The backup tar file from Motioneye - Can I modify this in notepad, save it and restore? Just the url/IP line for the camera.
@austere sierra I personally haven't used Motioneye, but to view tar files, you can use 7zip or winrar.
Hi everyone, I'm having trouble with my ESPhome. When I add a device it works and shows up in Home Assistant, but doesn't show up online in ESPhome. Any ideas?
@ripe junco Have you tried refreshing the page?
@austere sierra I personally haven't used Motioneye, but to view tar files, you can use 7zip or winrar.
@torn seal Yep unzipped it with 7zip and opened up fine in notepad++.
Looking for some help understanding MQTT. I have MQTT broker installed, but I don't see any way for me to add devices such as light switch and sensors. I want to be able to share the state state of devices with other system and HA instances.
Am I missing a component?
So I have no MQTT clients, this may be my missing component, my goal was to publish states of my zwave and zigbee devices with my other HA instance.
while you could use mqtt for that, you might check out @cunning wolf 's link there instead
There's zwave2mqtt for example, but that will only cover your zwave devices
I use that remote home assistant for sharing one HA instance's Z things with my main HA instance
@sly kindle what you have is exactly what I have been looking to accomplish, but have got some flak about this not been a get approach to creating a failover HA instance.
I have HA running in Synology and a linux box.
It's not for failover.
I use it because a pi with a z stick is something I can put physically in a better location in the house
My main HA is a VM running on a box in the basement, and the range is bad from down there
You should just try it for yourself. It's easy to undo.
the synology has a zigbee/zwave stick, the linux box is connected to my veraplus controller. The vera controller is down quite often which in turn prevents certain automations to fail.
Is the other zwave stick active?
my think was that by having the all devices shared between the 2 controllers they would be complementary to each other if one goes down for a while
yes
That could be why one is going down 🤷♂️
Isn't the whole point of mesh networks that there's a single coordinator in charge?
and you have two
the z stick is not connected to the vera controller, but to the synology. The Vera controller have been going offline sporadically. yes Mono, i agree that one controller is all that should be needed, but what happens if that one goes down and does not reboot and you are away from home and can't address the issue.
It could be the military in me, but I like backup plans
😀
In order to mitigate the potential for a collision, could I write an automation that checks the status of the vera controller and if it fails to respond then the zstick would take over managing all devices on the network.
#integrations-archived are that way
☝️ no they are this way
guys I know that, but I came here asking questions about addons.
Not you. The person that deleted their post about integrations in the add-ons channel.
😀 well then pay me no mind.
You think cogneato would let me give bad advice on their watch? 😄

Hi, is there an addon to usr the RaspAP hostpot ? (https://github.com/billz/raspap-webgui) Thanks
recently moved Supervised HA from sd to SSD. I had wiregaurd installed and now changing dsn server to DuckDNS and notice there is no SSL folder in the Samba mount. i tried removing and adding back Wireguard. should i try the same with Samba or what?
Hi there!
I am running the latest version of the esphome add-on (esphome-hassio-amd64:1.14.5) and I am having a dns resolution error.
esphome is unable to lookup the ip address of any esp8266 at home.
For example garage_door.iot.local exists, but if I open a shell in the esphome-dashboard docker container I cant resulv the name.
a ping to the esp8266 ip address returns succesfully.
TESTS
the docker host has the dns server configured correctly:
ha:~# cat /etc/docker/daemon.json { "dns": ["192.168.100.1"] <- that is my internal dns server }
To run a test I am doing:
`ha:~# docker run busybox nslookup garage_door.iot.local
Server: 192.168.100.1
Address: 192.168.100.1:53
Name: garage_door.iot.casa
Address: 172.16.16.2`
with that I know that a docker container is using the correct dns server.
Then if I do the nslookup from the esphome-dashboard container it fails to find the entry, its using this:
15ef4d2f-esphome:/# cat /etc/resolv.conf search local.hass.io nameserver 172.30.32.3
@pine atlas other add-ons (when it's super, super important to get right) give you a chance to set dns servers in their configuration tab. see: Wireguard.
quickly looking through the ESPHome API, nothing stood out until I ran into this configuration section. i don't know if it would help to use this in your case, but it's a start, maybe?https://esphome.io/components/ethernet.html?highlight=dns
on the bright side, that local nameserver indicates that your HA add-ons usually can talk to each other just fine.
thanks for checking, that ehternet config is for microcontrollers managed by esphome, unfortunatelly is not a docker image configuration, but you are right, that 172.30.32.3 dns server is correct since it wires the rest of the infrastructure together. I am not sure where the problem is
that service must be dnsmasq running in the docker host right?
nope, there is no dnsmasq running there.. apparently is the systemd-resolve servicce
Hey guys, I'd like to configure network over SSH on my Pi (as I don't have a micro-HDMI to connect a monitor) and the howto, that I've found requires me to turn off protection mode, but my version of HassIO have this option hidden - how can I switch it on/off?
hi everyone, not sure if this is the proper channel to ask for some help regarding nginx rev proxy issues? I'm stuck, and can't see what I'm doing wrong. I have duckdns & nginx ssl proxy addons installed and configured. somethingsomething.duckdns.org properly points to HA on port 8123, but now I'm trying to add a folder redirect to my bitwarden service, but whatever I try, it keeps failing.
I have a seperate server config in /share/nginx_proxy that should redirect /bw/ to local:7277, but I keep getting 404: Not found when loading it
I also tried the nginx proxy manager add-on, but that didn't even parse / correctly
@willow vortex Have you looked at https://github.com/home-assistant/operating-system/blob/dev/Documentation/network.md ?
@torn seal yes, I've read it top to bottom - I'm using USB drive at the moment, but want to replace it and I cannot start the nmcli
@willow vortex Are you running home assistant from usb?
network config is on USB, HA is on SD card
@willow vortex I belive once the settings are imported from usb drive you can remove it
I tried that already, but it didn't log into my network... maybe I was not patient enough...
it's super slow, since I switched to Raspberry - previously I was running it on linux server, but it's so outdated and full of bugs, I had to switch
When I installed HomeAssistant, then I only had to insert USB drive with /CONFIG/network/my-network file with settings and disconnected it after it booted and connected to network
and now, when you power cycle it, it still connects for you?
I usually restart or shutdown before, because often it doesn't start again if power gets removed without shutting it down before
I have it connected to battery backup, but I have to guess the updates have made it boot better, because I sometimes accidentally remove power from it
I'm trying to be more patient this time ... I really have to get a faster SD card - this is absurd, how slow it boots
@willow vortex I haven't timed the boot time, but for my home assistant it usually takes about 5-10 minutes to restart
previously I was using HA core on my linux server ... that booted within seconds (but is outdated and full of bugs:/ )
Can someone help me setup Samba Share?
@amber nymph I personally use on windows \\hassio but to configure folders as drives I have to use \\hassio\config
Have you already set up the addon?
Yeah I have it installed
Just wondering what IP i need to put?
As when I start it up can't find it in the file browser under network
Home Assistant ip
should be
I guess so if you don't have multiple raspberry pi-s
Wait, are you editing the configuration or trying to connect?
Editing the config
to add my IP 🤔
Attempting to follow this video https://youtu.be/udqY2CYzYGk
I want to do what he exactly does
But I cannot find it in the file browser under network
It doesn't show for me either, so I have to manually enter it into file explorer
so how do I enter it?
@amber nymph windows? enter the ip address with two backslashes \\192.168.1.114
in the file explorer address bar
the only configuration the addon needs is a user and password.
@willow vortex are you still not able to get nmcli to work?
previously I was using HA core on my linux server ... that booted within seconds (but is outdated and full of bugs:/ )
@willow vortex You should still be able to run Home Assistant in a virtual machine on it
working
ty
@amber nymph windows? enter the ip address with two backslashes
\\192.168.1.114

Im getting this when hacs has been installed https://i.imgur.com/k27ZThJ.png
???
Have some patience.
its been an hour
And that's perfectly normal... all you have to do is... wait.
ok
On first launch, it loads a ton of data from various places. It takes a while.
A day is definitely too long 😉
Some stuff depends on the processing power of your HA host. A lot of people use Pi's which don't have a ton of that.
yeah IM using a pi
Other stuff depends on your internet connection, and some people don't have great ones of those either.
I have decent internet
Pi + bad connection = slow first setup for HACS.
If you're worried it's taking too long you could start again... but then you're back at square one.
It'll finish eventually and you have no control over it.
Hey all. Anyway of rolling back to previous version of Portainer add-on? Found an open bug report but dead in the water until it gets resolved
(issue only with latest version, so previous was fine)
@slow heath do you have a snapshot which contains the previous version?
You could restore the one addon
I don't. :/ Was hoping maybe somehow reuse old dockerfile from the github of the earlier release or something as worst case. Just don't know if I can replace files somehow in container otherwise?
no
also i think the future of the portainer addon may be in question
they might be moving to a paid model or something
i havent checked the details. just something something i heard
no not the actual addon. portainer itself
which would possibly effect the addon
Ah, I think they will do Pro (enterprise) stuff and a CE (community edition, free)
I guess I just have to make snapshots from now on 🙂 Is there a way to just make a snapshot of addons? Or just it do the whole system?
lol. why not just poke around and make one?
Then see what it does.
You would see the options
to answer your question yes you can make partial snapshots or you can make full snapshots and partially restore from them
Yeah, that was one of those things where I typed it and thought of after haha. Thank you
what addon do I need to use Smart Home
Like the smart home app
wot addon is it
nvm
Hi, I would like to modify one line in the configuration addon but this line is not exposed in the service. Is it possible to access this config file with the terminal addon ? Thanks
Dang, so I could have backed up just Portainer in snapshot and solved this. RIP me
Btw here is where the info on Portainer CE was from. Hope they stick to their word and doesn't affect HA addon: https://www.portainer.io/2020/07/portainer-business-a-fork-in-the-road/
Heyo all anyone use esphome I am having an issue where one of my ESPs is flashing its status light except for when I am viewing the logs from the esphome dash
the moment I close the logs it starts flashing again
@loud forge thats what the addons are for. ssh terminal, samba, file editor, ftp, vsc...whichever you want
What settings should I tweak on motioneye detection to avoid false alarms when floodlights turn on and off at night? Got the light switch detection on 100%. Thanks!
Is the Reddit addon disabled?
@amber nymph add-ons are services you add to your system from the add-on store. These are services which run in containers alongside Home Assistant which is also running in a container. There is no reddit add-on that I know of. You might be referring to #integrations-archived . Everything you find at this link using the search is an integration. https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/ There is a reddit integration. You would configure that in your configuration.yaml.
Hi everyone!
Can someone tell me were I can find data/mosquitto.db in hassio installed on a raspberry pi 4 ?
I installed adguard and put the IP of my HA into my router. When I check the add-on it says 13000 DNS queries and 2700 blocked by filters. But when I check https://adguard.com/en/test.html it says "You are currently not using AdGuard DNS". Ideas?
If you know it's blocking blacklisted requests, what's the problem?
Could it be because I run HA in a VM?
@onyx olive I just clicked that link and I see that I'm "not" using adguard as well, but I'm fairly sure it's running
I think that page is to test browser extensions etc
Can anyone help with motioneye? I have 8 cameras that it is able to access just fine. (well, three are randomly down but I suspect that that's unrelated). I want to see a stream of one of them in a lovelace UI card. Should I be pointing the lovelace card to the rtsp stream of the camera itself, or am I supposed to be pointing to the motioneye streaming URL? the motioneye streaming URL appears the same for everything though.
I still have ads everywhere. Shouldn't it take care of most ads?
@sly kindle I thought this was more of a motioneye issue, but I'll head there, thank you.
well, for adding your individual cameras rtsp streams...
Very basic question: when using @raven tinsel s add on to ssh into ha using the web console I get into the docker container of ha, correct? If so, any chance to get into the host os?
If it's a basic question, I'm not sure why you can't just ask it instead of tagging him.
Yes, you'll be SSHing into the HA container.
No, you shouldn't be trying to get to the host that way.
Check this out for how to access the host: https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/operating-system/debugging/#ssh-access-to-the-host
Thanks. At least I managed to ask in the right channel.😒 as I know this is the most important thing on earth
hello ! I want to install https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-mopidy , but how do I add this to the repository ?
Is this hacs token deprecated since my VScode validation come up with an error but - is it an error as Hacs seems to work fine? https://imgur.com/OdNRwNo
@weary stratus the community repo is already included by default. That particular addon has no release in the repo. You would use the Edge Community repo instead to see addons which are still works in progress. https://i.imgur.com/1moouu9.png
I changed router and from sd to ssd and find wireguard not working. Duckdns has correct ip address and i have configured
WG with the sub domain inserted to example config. I also updated phone app and new QR code as well as reinstallin WG in HA and repeating these steps In unifi I added port fwd from anywhere/51820 to HA at port 51820 and enabled this rule it looked like the FW rule was added automagically in the Phone i see handshake failed how can i trouble shoot this further or plz suggest step to try
I enabled parental control in AdGuard and tried going to adult content. AdGuard says it blocked the page but Chrome opened it without issues. Why?
Did you visit that page recently before it was blocked?
Nah
Likely story 😉
haha
AdGuard prevents DNS requests resolving if they're blacklisted. Your computer keeps a cache of recent results so it doesn't have to request them every time.
It's still in your computer's cache. Clear that and try again.
Ok. Thanks. I might have tried the domain immediately after enabling parental control.
Cause now I googled sex and found a domain that made adguard pop up and say parental control 🙂
WG peer log says "Tunnel status is now connected" and "Sending handshake initiation' THEN 'Handshake did not complete in 5 sec"
Any ideas why?
Hi everyone. This morning (early) my system crashed. I have been running mariadb as my recorder for some time ... but now when the system fires up mariadb 'bonks'. This is the error I get:
020-08-08 12:15:47 0 [Note] InnoDB: If the mysqld execution user is authorized, page cleaner thread priority can be changed. See the man page of setpriority().
2020-08-08 12:15:47 0 [ERROR] InnoDB: Missing MLOG_CHECKPOINT at 3066289257 between the checkpoint 3066289257 and the end 3066289152.
2020-08-08 12:15:47 0 [ERROR] InnoDB: Plugin initialization aborted with error Generic error
and then it shuts down.
Looking for ideas on how to solve.
The DB may be corrupt. I'd back up the config, remove the add-on, reinstall the add-on, plug your config back in.
The DB is only temporary anyway, so it shouldn't be any great loss.
@cunning wolf - what do you mean - back up your config?
the config in mariadb supervisor?
I mean go to the config tab of said add-on, copy all the text you see and keep it for later.
perfect .. just wanted to confirm 😉
I am running HA via docker ontop of an ubuntu server. Where does HA and subsequent addons store all the data?
hmmmm. That bonked all my data 😦
I did say the DB is temporary. Whatever was in there would be purged in X days anyway.
Anyone available to provide some ideas/pointers for newbie MQTT setup? I've got addon set up, a client device configured with HA user data and the IP/port to broker, have configured HA MQTT for autodiscovery, have confirmed the device is on wifi (same network as HA)... but the device is still not getting an MQTT connection.
@sly kindle It's a nodemcu
what does the configuration look like for this?
I'm using this code to get started: https://github.com/Dullage/ESP-LED-MQTT . The config.h file is where I put all my local stuff.
I'm assuming that the IP for the MQTT server is the same as the HA (and then set port to 1883). Is that right?
yep
And I'm assuming that any user set up in the HA user area can be used for the MQTT user that the device uses. Didn't do anything special to set that up.
yes but you don't need one user per device
well, I'm on my phone but I'm looking for where that supports discovery
you can have one MQTT user on all devices
and use clientid
@cunning wolf that was one of the first things I learned on this discord LOL
yes, any user credentials in HA can be used
that makes sense. Still don't get why I can't get the device connectedd to mqtt
what do your MQTT addon logs say
if there is no discovery support on that device's side, you'd have to enter it manually
and does anything else connect to MQTT ?
It says that 1883 is open for listening on ipv4 and 6. And that 1884 is open for listening.
Then it says New connection from 172.30.32.1 on port 1883. (have no idea what that is)
ahh
internal docker container ip address
Also says: [13:26:19] INFO: No local user available
that's fine
does it say "found <your user>" anywhere?
oh I guess that would only show if the device connected. nm
No. It says "found homeassistant on local database". But also says 1596918380: Warning: Mosquitto should not be run as root/administrator.
yeah
but if it found homeassistant it's connecting
ok. it all SEEMS fine...but I can't figure out how to get the connection
to something
did you restart it since?
I know i've had to restart sometimes to get the MQTT addon to behave
did you add it in yaml?
i've restarted the addon and the HA a few times during this
did you add the light using platform: mqtt I mean?
@sly kindle I've got:
light:
- platform: mqtt
name: Lamp
and all the rest?
Yes, all the stuff that was listed in the config from that github repo
I checked the config and it says is fine.
"fine" doesn't mean "will work"
Clearly 🙂
you know you could put wled on this nodemcu and have an easier time 😄
WLED?
No mqtt needed. Integration for wled just needs to be added
yeah you flash it with wled
WLED = 🔥 🔥 🔥
The integration isn't perfect but it's so easy to work with and you have other options for more advanced usage.
I'm using this as an excuse to learn about mqtt and it seems like it is really close to working...except for the connection 😉
WLED looks cool though.
It's got a really easy setup too. It creates a captive access point you log in to and do all the settings via the UI.
If it breaks and can't connect to your network, you haven't bricked it... it'll revert to being a captive AP again.
Using the Nginx Proxy Manager, how can I create an Access list that allows access from anywhere?
The only goal is to provide basic authentication in front of a service
There's a section to create Access Lists in the addon's UI. Set up your usernames/passwords for basic auth and then make your first allow rule 'allow: all'.
Once you've created it, assign it to whichever proxy you want.
I was so close!
It seems the Proxy neded to get the list set after the list was edited to update settings
Thanks!
Anyone know the file where an update for an add-on gets triggered? Trying to override an addon to download an earlier version. (or if I delete and then install it again)
I think your best option is to restore that addon (and nothing else) from an earlier snapshot.
The system isn't really designed for you to pick which versions to install.
Yeah I don't have that. Didn't make one :/
Today's lesson, take regular backups 😄
Yeah, already doing for future for sure!
I'm out of ideas... see what someone else suggests.
Guess I just wanted to know where the code was that points to the URL to download the dockerfile. I can then just switch the dockerfile URL
Since the addons are docker containers, right?
But that's all managed by Supervisor, so it's going to just update itself again. Like I said, see what someone else comes up wtih.
Hmmm. When I go to supervisor I see updates sometimes. It asks for manual update of addons. Does yours update automatically/
I don't mean that. I mean whatever list Supervisor maintains will be updated automatically.
Yeah, that's fine. I need to edit an actual addon not remove it from installation
hello, I need assistance with assistant relay
whenever I install, and try to start, it just doesn't start. the button flashes red, and the logs remain empty. any ideas?
it's so tough because I literally have no idea what's going wrong
The add-on logs show output from the add-on. If the add-on isn't starting, Supervisor will log it.
Check the Supervisor logs instead.
What's the full error message?
lemme send
on phone I'll send on PC in a few seconds
20-08-09 10:48:32 ERROR (SyncWorker_2) [supervisor.docker] Can't create container from addon_6a3d001f_assistant_relay: 404 Client Error: Not Found ("No such image: apipa169/armv7-hassio-assistant_relay:0.7.4")
404 Error for docker usually is a result of one of these things:
-
The image tag you are trying to use does not exist (if this is the case you will see the word 'manifest' in the error)
-
There is not enough space left on the device to download the new container.
Could be that it doesn't exist. Could equally be that there's not enough space left 😉
well I have more than enough, at least 100 gb free so it must be that it doesn't exist
Maybe. If you're familiar with Docker, you could try setting up that image on another machine.
Just to see if it finds it.
I'm not going to download bloat onto my own machine but there's a version with that tag: https://hub.docker.com/r/apipa169/armv7-hassio-assistant_relay/tags
i've never been so lost I can't lie
I don't know what your development skills are like but this is the app that it runs inside the Docker container: https://github.com/greghesp/assistant-relay/
Looks like it's an ExpressJS app that just makes it easier to interact with the Google Assistant SDK. So technically, you could make those calls yourself... maybe not with out-of-the-box HA REST calls though.
I know a bit but I guess not that much
I think I should just give up
what os should I run that on?
I usually never get this stuck but man, this is tough.
i want to be the most efficient
Well it'd run on anything that can run NodeJS... but if you're not used to doing that stuff, there's a lot to learn. That's why people turn to add-ons - you just install them and have everything you need.
Try again later in case it's just something funky going on with the connection. You say you have enough space, so assume it's a 'normal' 404.
Not sure if this is the right channel for this question?
Is it possible to change icon by state with card-mod ? 🙂
card-mod doesn't sound like an add-on. It sounds like like a #frontend-archived card.
Add-ons are containerised applications.
ok thank you
hey guys... does anyone know if i can add nfs support to HA (im trying to set up plex server as an add-on... but am stuck at getting it linked to my NAS)
Hi guys is it possible to create or change the boot priority for the addons?
sorry, first post on discord and have spent half a day on this already - is anyone familiar with setting up BlueIris motion sensor with MQTT? I read the tutorial here (https://community.home-assistant.io/t/blue-iris-integration-tutorial/71863) and watched the video from TheHookUp's channel. The test ping from BlueIris works (it shows up in my MQTT logs), but I'm not familiar enough with MQTT to know if my settings in my configuration.yaml file is what's causing my issue. Motion is properly detected in BlueIris, but it does not show up in HA.
If it's communicating via MQTT, your first task is to check whether all the messages are appearing on your MQTT broker.
I just ran a test ping using the BlueIris interface and this showed up in the Mosquitto broker logs, I think that means there's at least a connection?
1597001401: New client connected from 192.168.4.57 as BlueIris (p1, c1, k20, u'mqttuser').
My MQTT broker has no devices listed in the Integrations tab though, so I don't know if that's a separate or related issue and whether I have to add a device first
Forget about HA integrations for now. Either use a standalone tool like MQTT Explorer to connect to your broker or tell HA to listen to all topics.
Do something that should have Iris send a message and see if that message appears.
I prefer MQTT Explorer over HA's method since it has a good UI.
ok let me watch a tutorial on how to use MQTT explorer and will come back - I guess I just don't really understand MQTT at all and am just following the instructions in the tutorial, so there's probably something my config file that's mislabeled
I downloaded MQTT explorer, logged on to my MQTT server, and the only thing that's there is a $SYS folder with a broker in it (and a ton of sub-"folders")
the subfolders have a ton of information in brackets like (24 topics, 468 messages, etc.)
Don’t worry about all that
When Iris does something, do you see a new message?
when I go to Edit MQTT server settings in Blue Iris and hit the "Test" button, a BlueIris folder shows up with (1 topic, 4 messages) with a sub-folder saying app = starting
when I go to my individual camera and hit the Lightning button (which is a test ping in the Blue Iris interface), a new sub-folder shows up called Cam1=On under BlueIris folder in MQTT explorer
so it seems like the messages are going through, but only when I hit the "test" buttons for the individual camera or the BlueIris program
Then you've identified the first problem... you need to get BlueIris sending the right information 😉
Figure that out, then come back here to see how HA listens to those messages.
ok so here's an update - every time I trigger a motion, the total number of messages in BlueIris folder in MQTT explorer goes up (2 topics, X messages) - so it seems like motion IS sending a message to MQTT, I just don't know what that message is
my settings within BlueIris are as follows:
MQTT topic BlueIris/Cam1 Post/payload: on
those are the only two settings related to the motion trigger in terms of inputs
You keep saying you don't know what's in the folders. They can be expanded...
right, sorry! ok so the history just keeps saying "on" "on" "on" every time motion is triggered 😄
so I think it is sending the post/payload part properly into my MQTT server!
so the connection is stable and I think we solved that part - which then the question is what I suspected - my configuration.yaml probably has something wrong
Great... so if the add-on is working properly, you need to set up your #integrations-archived next 😉
ok, so is the discord rule to move the conversation into the integrations channel for the remainder?
hey guys... does anyone know if i can add nfs support to HA (im trying to set up plex server as an add-on... but am stuck at getting it linked to my NAS)
anyone using APCUPSD addon?
is there one?
as always, better to ask the question
provide some context, skip the middleman
I have a custom repo loaded
and I used to have it working but I don't think it's showing up
the UPS that is
hello
I have MI android tv box which is connected to home-assistant via suggested integrations, so everything works but the state of android tv changes sometimes and third-party apps don’t work.
For this, I have checked the internet and found a solution via addon in ha ie ADB so, I have installed everything and also done with configuration but the problem comes here
I cannot see the new entity in states 😦 don’t know why.
I have checked addon logs and also home assistant logs and restarted many times, everything is ok and they say connected but no entity
And by the way after addon installation, I removed previous media player integration so now even that is not coming I am struck here
how can my problem be solved, please help
@upbeat moon one question if its ok 😛 i have a shield tv, i enable network debug in developer options, everytime i restart HA i have to accept many popups on my shield. is it the same on mi box? if yes, how to save the fingerprint??
"allow network debugging?"
Hello @ripe grail only one time it comes for me
And I also enabled debug in my settings
my ha is running on pi4
Don't ask to ask, just ask your question. Then people can answer when they're around.
When you do ask a question, try to provide as much background detail as possible. Ask yourself these questions first so that others don't have to:
- What version of the Home Assistant are you running? (remember, last isn't a version)
- What exactly are you trying to do that won't work?
- Is the problem uniform or erratic?
- What's the exact error message?
- When did it arise?
- What exactly don't you "get"?
- Can you share sample code, ideally with line errors where the error occurs?
Hello
I need help with ssl anyone can help me?
I'm Running the last version of HomeAssistant OS on Raspi4. When I try to connect from xxxxx.duckdns.org it gets stuck on loading lovelace and it says "Unable to connect to Home Assistant" with the button retry
did you set internal_url and external_url ?
did you set it as https?
yes
is letsencrypt setup?
yes
you should add your https://yourduck for both
I have setup DuckdNS and NGINX
and in external url I have put https://xxxx.duckdns.org
nginx is only a proxy no?
yes, it's only a proxy
it is generated automatically I think
with letsencrypt yes, but you can use duckdns without letsencrypt
i have some .pem files in /ssl/
maybe you're using the addon that does duck + letsencrypt
i use duckdns with let's encrypt
OK
in the duckdns config I have lets_encrypt
with chrome I have a timeout error
and with Opera it stops loading
I'm using a slightly different setup, without duckdns and nginx
I have letsencrypt setup but I'm also having issues
I don't have any errors in the HA logs
I have the terminal addon
It's okay for SSL to be disabled in HA if you're dealing with it at the reverse proxy layer instead.
That approach allows you to use http internally without cert warnings.
oh, well I'm actively trying to use SSL and no proxy, Gregory46 is using a proxy however
i have opened the 443 and 8123 of my router and I can ping my duckdns url but it doesen't load
having the same issue right now
you can only forward 8123 and still have SSL
but my problem is SSL not seeming to load
xxxx.duckdns.org:8123 not work but only xxxx.duckdns.org work
so it's not getting stuck on lovelace anymore?
it get stuck here https://imgur.com/a/srx0f4h
mine just doesn't load
with another browser it get a timeout error
yes, that's what I'm getting in firefox
have you got your ssl cert/key in config file?
yes they should be in /ssl I mean do you reference them in your config.yaml
what browser you are using?
firefox and mobile app
if i try to connect to my duckdns it get stuck n the loading but if I connect to my duckdns from a private tab it get a time out error
I think neither of us has SSL properly loaded
I have followed a tutorial on youtube and it work but some days ago it stops working
I have put the auto update
I think we are both the victim of ourselves and not reading something simple
yes my host is HassOS 4.12 as well

hey guys... does anyone know if i can add nfs support to HA (im trying to set up plex server as an add-on... but am stuck at getting it linked to my NAS)
When restoring from a snapshot, my MariaDB addon always (6 times in a row from different snapshots) comes back corrupted... Is that a known issue?
well I think you're being answered in the other channel you asked in @elder whale
i am indeed 🙂
thank you
i wasnt sure which channel was the appropriate place to ask, as its sort of about an add-on and sort of about the OS in general...
got bumped from OS to Supervised... sometimes its difficult to know where to ask a question here...
@boreal bane but im not really asking a FS question per se... the ultimate goal is to get a viewable folder in an add-on... actually, the ultimate goal is to get plex to work... but...
you're asking how to make a share readable to the OS, so I'd say it is LOL
but you are in the right place now, and that's all that matters 😄
https://github.com/home-assistant/hassio-addons/issues/1353 @patent copper
i have these errors in my log for adb addon

what might be the error?
is it possible to automatically save the respective add-on's logs in a share, like in the add-on share?
I would really like to be able to access the (Tellstick) add-on log without using the GUI
any idea why the nginx-proxy addon might be broken? installed through supervisor, version is 3.0.1.
config:
domain: homeassistant.lan.example.com certfile: fullchain.pem keyfile: privkey.pem hsts: '' cloudflare: false customize: active: false default: nginx_proxy_default*.conf servers: nginx_proxy/*.conf
@torn vector posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/crHw3K3zZ6/
(fullchain.pem and privkey.pem exist, from an ssl cert I already have)
It tells you where the problem is:
invalid number of arguments in "server_name" directive in /etc/nginx.conf:29
yeah, I looked at the nginx.conf and it looks like none of the config directives are being added into the nginx config
But what's on line 29 (and the following lines)?
` server {
server_name ;
# These shouldn't need to be changed
listen 80;
return 301 https://$host$request_uri;
}`
it /should/ be server_name yourdomain.tld but looks like the domain config statement isn't being inserted where it should be
from that, have to assume $DOMAIN is not getting populated from the addon config into the container
I have no idea how the bashio stuff works but it looks to me like the environment in the nginx container is not being populated properly because the SSL variables are all missing in the nginx.conf as well
I also don't understand bash scripts 😄 If you're not bothered about which add-on you're using, the nginx proxy manager is decent.
might as well just configure nginx myself then
@raven tinsel is it possible to use NGINX_PROXY addon to not port forward a port on my router for another addon(bitwarden) but rather to proxy_pass all the requests coming for https:// duckdnsdomain**/bitwarden** to the bitwarden container?
With the core NGINX Proxy add-on, you have to provide config yourself.
with the NGinx Proxy Manager add-on, it supports that kinda of stuff
however, not all application support behind reversed proxied on a subpath
Bitwarden is one of those 🙂, so that will not work
However, you can of course, create a second duck dns domain, and handle that as a different vhost on the reverse proxy
Hey @raven tinsel any chance of possibly rolling back the Portainer add-on until they push the --no-auth fix please? Don't have the older version backed up and see I'm not alone in just waiting for the fix...
However, you can of course, create a second duck dns domain, and handle that as a different vhost on the reverse proxy
@raven tinsel yeah you are right man 🙂 the location run was a total fail 😦 the only way for it to work is by registering another domain and that is sad a bit as I would like to keep things nice and easy
@slow heath Fix should be available any moment...
@jagged gale Subdomains? They are unlimited active as wildcard with duckdns...
e.g., bitwarden.myducdnsthingy, nodered.myduckdnstingy
Oh awesome, I just saw that the bug report post wasn't active so figured they forgot about it 😛
Is this where I would post if I have issues with portainer for hassio?
not sure if this is the best place to ask, but i'm having an issue with MQTT. I'm currently trying to send some data via MQTT from a raspberrypi on my network to my Intel NUC running Home Assistant. I have mosquitto broker setup on the NUC and it works fine with Ring MQTT. I started seeing data (I made a sensor and verified it by manually listening to the topic). However, it only updated 37 times. It's supposed to update every 10 seconds, but it stopped after 37 times. I still see the connection being made every 10 seconds via the logs...any ideas?
1597100896: New client connected from 192.168.5.241 as mosqpub|1598-9f3d7255d4 (p2, c1, k60).
1597100896: Client mosqpub|1598-9f3d7255d4 disconnected.```
that pops up every 10 seconds
.241 is the RbPi
and I can't seem to find any errors around that time that would relate to it
In all likelihood, it's the Pi that's disconnecting for some reason.
Better to investigate that end.
Hey, does anyone know why portainer on hassio image for RPi4 doesn't seem to be letting me add a container or create one through the app templates? I'm running the 32 bit version. Let me know if any other info would be helpful
@jagged gale Subdomains? They are unlimited active as wildcard with duckdns...
@raven tinsel Hmm I didn't find how to do a subdomain to a subdomain, maybe I am missing something 🙂
Damn it does it under the hood. I am an Idiot... My intention was to do it by subdomains but for some reason I was thinking I should register it in duckdns
Ohh lordy ... the more we know 🙂 Thanks man @raven tinsel for your help, now I am happy with my config )))
is anyone aware of a calendar server as a addon for HA?
i currently have one running on my synology but it keeps the disks from sleeping
hence i had the idea to move it over to my NUC which is running HA
local access only would be enough
not aware of one
ok, thanks thats a pitty, would have been quite a cool function
hmmm would it actually work if i install the portainer.io addon and add another container running a caldav server?
not that i would at the moment know how this is beeing done exactly 🙂
If running the glances addon, what would be the IP:PORT to use for the glances integration?
I have tried the host IP and the docker addon hostname and the default port 61208.
When setting up the integration I just get Unable to connect to host.
hey, anyone got an idea why I get this when trying to add a new container via portainer? 2020/08/12 01:10:02 http error: Unable to proxy the request via the Docker socket (err=Object not found inside the database) (code=500)
@potent lichen It's an issue with the current Portainer release, waiting on an upstream fix
If you can downgrade via a snap it will work
👍🏽 I thought I was going mad ...
@potent lichen Waiting on the fix myself. Here's the relevant page: https://github.com/portainer/portainer/issues/4125
Btw @raven tinsel found this: https://www.portainer.io/documentation/deprecated-and-removed-features/ guess this is what someone mentioned about Portainer not working as an addon in future? :/
Removal of --no-auth in Portainer 2 ce
What are people using to edit config files when HA is installed on a pi. It wont let me download visual studio code
I use the file editor https://github.com/home-assistant/hassio-addons/tree/master/configurator
@woeful holly I used the fileeditor addon as well
Brilliant cheers guys
Hey everyone! I get a 502: bad gateway when trying to access the InfluxDB ingress interface. Addon log is ending with:
[10:03:00] INFO: Kapacitor is waiting until InfluxDB is available...
[10:03:00] INFO: Chronograf is waiting until InfluxDB is available...
[10:03:00] INFO: Starting the InfluxDB...
No errors prior in the log
just wait a few minutes
More than 10?
15 minutes now, still nothing... This is a complete new behaviour on my system...
I'm just wondering here, but could it have something to do with release 0.113.3?
I have also issues, but with the integrations Tado and Meteorologisk institutt (Met.no)
This is likely addon specific and not connected to the HA release...
Ok, too bad
What worries me is that are no errors in the log... It just seems like the addon is stalled...
yeah shouldn't take 10 mins
I have restarted the addon a couple of times... I am restarting the host now.... /pray/
No dice
If anyone finds the time to have a look, here is the complete addon log: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/WkWhwhtq9G/
Hmm... The supervisor logs are complaning about some ingress stuff: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/7QnT9zYZ2y/
@raven tinsel Any idea what this means? "WARNING (MainThread) [supervisor.snapshots.snapshot] Can't restore Add-on a0d7b954_unifi: maximum recursion depth exceeded in comparison"
I am trying to restore a snapshot for unifi addon and have modified my config.json-file.
Ah ok. Will try to solve it in some way then. Thank you!
1 hour, and the InfluxDB i still not up, and there are no new errors in the log....?
@raven tinsel is there an option to fetch an older release from your addons? similar to how you can fetch different releases in HACS?
Snapshot restore (or partially)
in the absence of snapshot
ok so there is no option to eg edit any repo information manually to take a different version in the branch? I got snapshots too many so the relevant one that would have helped has been purged already
@raven tinsel this is what I was looking for, I downloaded an older release, extracted, pushed the addon folder to addons on hass and then installed from there ...
which showed as dev ...
@potent lichen , @ionic carbon Just bumped this issue myself today. I was trying to setup the jlesage/firefox container so I could open HA on an old iPad. (https://community.home-assistant.io/t/options-for-lovelace-on-older-ipad-ios-9-3-5/125497/5)
Since I'm new into the docker world, I'm not sure if I have to mount any volume or network to get the firefox-container working...
Hoping this question fits best here: Is there any add-ons that have very simple scheduling? I was hoping to create some one-off automations that call a simple service at a specific time (Ex: Turn lights on or turn AC to x)
I could create regular automations but I'd have to delete those after they are done
@rugged burrow maybe check Node-Red, I started here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuoSXVqjyfc
I actually use node-red for all my other automations but I feel like it has the same situation where the automations feel more permanent.
not sure I understand what you are trying to achieve here - so its literally just a one off? why not call the service directly?
or use things like sliders to adjust the setting
It's a one off but based on time. So today at 3pm I want to do X
I use regular automations for that eg 8pm outside lights on - 6am off
Yeah that's probably what I will end up using. Just wanted to check if there was another solution.
you can obviously enable/disable them when you dont want to run them
and use another automation, to reset the state to on for the automation so you dont forget to turn it back on
just some thoughts
Yeah that could work
hi all. is it possible to set up a debian with portainer? i use homeassistant os
@potent lichen Any tutorial on pushing older addon version? I tried to do this due to Portainer bug. Not sure how quick this fix is coming. Issue 2 weeks old and blocking me from doing stuff :/
literally as I wrote it, download, extract, copy portainer folder to addons, go to supervisor refresh and it will show as a dev version
was easier than I expected
Where do you extract it to? I guess I couldn't find the folder Portainer was actually installed. Tried searching for the dockerfile
you donwload it locally, extract it locally - then move the portainer folder via sftp/ftp/smb over to your homeassistant into the addon folder - before you need to remove portainer obviously
thats what I did anyway
root@DietPi:/usr/share/hassio/addons/git/a0d7b954/portainer# dir
CHANGELOG.md config.json DOCS.md icon.png logo.png README.md
does that seem accurate?
or do i place those files to addons/local folder?
I used it as I was developing it .. to not interfere with the official package
do you not have a backup that you can restore the old version from?
I did not already purged
more for @slow heath
ohk
Nope. That was the lesson learned before. But I find it weird there's no easy way of changing version number in some file for the addon to be pulled from
it's not a great solution, but it's the "approved" one
Especially if the addon is blocked upstream and cannot downgrade any other way
some developers really, really don't want to support older versions
I hear you, but it simply does not work right now for the past 2 weeks
I sympathize with your plight
well you could just republish the 1.2.0 as 1.2.2 rollback and solve it for people without a snapshot if its broken, but thats just me probably
you can make a local addon based on the previous docker tag?
I did that for one where the image was deleted
How would I do that? stick the folder with dockerfile into the addons/local folder?
my solution works just fine for what I needed to do so I am fine
you should be able to download a zip or clone from the appropriate tag from here: https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-portainer
lemme look at mine
thats what I did and then added to the addon shared directory, started it ...
Yeah, I mean I don't know where to stick those files 🙂
addon on the smb share
/addons for me
root@DietPi:/usr/share/hassio/addons# dir
core data git local
so addons/local
or just addons/Portainer
right. then reload, and I think it'll show up in the Addon Store under "Local add-ons"
Gotcha. Worth a shot, thanks guys
mine was a ridiculously simple addon (backup via scp) and just has Dockerfile, config.json, and run.sh
similar here 9 files and a few folders
its basically all the instructions for the compose and additional info
I thought I was screwed when the remote image disappeared, so I'm glad the option exists
I thought there was more involved
yeah, I don't want to talk about how many hours I think I spent looking for a harder solution
I looked here https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/add-ons/tutorial/ and thought ... give it a try if that works and it did
Had to clear cache a few times for some reason, but local addons popped up immediately. My goodness why isnt this listed as a fix for now? Thank you @viscid orchid and @potent lichen
no worries glad that worked for you
I'm not sure this is the right place, but I'm running into a spot of trouble with the DuckDNS/Let's Encrypt add-on. I've got everything working and the logs show certificates being pulled, but I'm not certain how to enable it. All the documentation I can find stops at this point. I have it enabled and it appears to be working, but I'm still able to connect unsecured on 8123 and cannot connect on 443.
how are you trying to connect over 443?
both https://[IPADDRESS] and [IPADDRESS]:443
yeah... that'll work, but you won't be secured as certificate is validating your hostname, which is your DuckDNS host
by connecting via https://[IPADDRESS], you should be able to see what certificate is being offered (if you click on a little red icon to the left of your browser's address bar
I'm not getting anything, though. The server isn't responding on 443.
also, you might have to open up port 443 in your router to allow external connectivity to your hass
This is all going on on my local network. When I enter either of the lines above (https://..) in my browser, I get 'refused to connect'.
So it's not even listening on 443.
Usually, when I turn on Let's Encrypt on servers there is a button to force https on that machine. LE just gets the certificate.
@clear mason did you add the ssl_ lines under http: in configuration.yaml ?
@snow oracle that's an older blog post that's been updated with the new stuff. Essentially, that's what I followed.
@sly kindle nope, that's exactly what I was looking for, thank you. Now to go figure out how to do that.
its just a matter of editing the file. if you have samba addon, or file editor addon, or you can use the ssh addon and nano
I'm finishing up installing the file editor addon now.
that older post has a snippet of what to add
http:
ssl_certificate: /ssl/fullchain.pem
ssl_key: /ssl/privkey.pem
granted, i don't have this... i'm using my own domain with traefik as a reverse proxy
doh! I'm reading so carefully I glossed over the inset code. Thank you for putting up with my silliness.
hope it works!
Restarting the server now.
after adding those lines, you can only use https:// for local_ip:8123 or duckdns url
if you forwarded 443 to 8123, then you don't need to add :8123 to the end
