Seems like you can't automate it without moving or paying
ya..
previously i was using SSL for free and generate the wildcard cert
then just simply copy to the ssl folder
no idea why when using lets encrypt add on in hassoss, i need to pay got cloud dns $
Because for it to be automatic lets encrypt needs to talk to your domain through some token or API
as in i dont know why creating a cert with let's encrypt must subscribe cloud dns
And this API/token is not provided by Google, unless you have cloud dns
ic
does it mean i have to use manual way to generate wildcard cert? say using certbot to generate wildcard cert in a linxux server
I'm not sure, it sounds very possible but I have no guide to offer
its ok
may i ask do u know what are these errors about?
Attempting refresh to obtain initial access_token
Refreshing access_token
Encountered 403 Forbidden with reason "forbidden"
Cleaning up challenges
Attempting refresh to obtain initial access_token
Refreshing access_token
Encountered 403 Forbidden with reason "forbidden"
Error finding zone.
What log? Which addon?
Let'sEncrypt addon
Did you buy the cloud dns?
Did you copy the token?
something with .json?
Maybe this is of interest to you: https://github.com/home-assistant/hassio-addons/issues/1003
i do have a google service account for google assistant, i followed this https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/google_assistant/ and generated a jason key
maybe need to use another key
I think those two are not compatible
Maybe this is of interest to you: https://github.com/home-assistant/hassio-addons/issues/1003
@lethal root this article is the manual way
which is not using Let's Encrypt addon
It's using 2 addons, DNS-O-Matic and Lets Encrypt
Specifically this post https://github.com/home-assistant/hassio-addons/issues/1003#issuecomment-576363976
See if it works before you thank me ๐
Anyone using motioneye and Home Assistant?
I have it installed and configured but turned off due to the CPU it uses
Ok. I have an unraid server running HA which I can install motioneye AS docker or app inside HA. Then I have a Rpi zero with a camera that I want to use to record if my front door sensor opens and we are on vacation mode. Did you do something on that?
hi. does anyone know why I cant find the esphome addon via the addon store on a raspberry pi 3 on newest homeassistant?
oooh
i started a fresh install after a long time...and kind of have forgotten that i must add the repo
thanks

i didnt use dns-0-matic
i am using ubiquiti router to update the dynamic public ip to my google domain
Did you port forward 80->80 ?
and i think i could not use http challenge as i want wild-card certificate.
i fixed two errors by subscribed Cloud DNS API and generate A google service account and grant DNS Admin rights
now left this error i have no idea so far
Did you port forward 80->80 though?
Error finding zone. Skipping cleanup.
Unable to determine managed zone for nhkclouds.com using zone names: ['nhkclouds.com', 'com'].
[cont-finish.d] executing container finish scripts...
[cont-finish.d] done.
i didnt enable port 80 for external.
let me try to enable this in my router.
Because for an http challenge it should be able to do http traffic, don't you think? ๐
yes, but i read the descritpion
description#
- http challenge
Requires Port 80 to be available from the internet and your domain assigned to the externally assigned IP address
Doesnt allow wildcard certificates (*.yourdomain.com). - dns challenge
Requires you to use one of the supported DNS providers (See "Supported DNS providers" below)
Allows to request wildcard certificates (*.yourdomain.com)
Doesnโt need you to open a port to your Home Assistant host on your router.
likely i should not use http challenge as i am requesting wildcard cert
Right, so a wildcard cert is for dns challenge
anyway i just added port 80 to my hassos
That should get you a subdomain cert though, not wildcard
Why do you want wildcard anyway
simplifies the setup
Yes, if you copy your cert to elsewhere, but are you doing that?
else i have to create records one by one in google domains
https://github.com/home-assistant/hassio-addons/blob/master/letsencrypt/DOCS.md the docs have the dns-google bit set up for wildcard through dns
yes, this is the document i am reading
and i have this error
Unable to determine managed zone for nhkclouds.com using zone names:
if u browse https://hassos.nhkclouds.com u can see i am using wildcard cert by freeforssl last time.
i am trying to replace it with new cert to be generated by hassos's LetsEncrypt add on
but so far unable to generate.
Well I'm all out of ideas
its okay
i suspect is my configuration issue
Error finding zone. Skipping cleanup.
Unable to determine managed zone for nhkclouds.com using zone names: ['nhkclouds.com', 'com'].
read this
i am confused.
The DNS authenticator (i guess this is LetsEncrypt Addon) only works with Google Cloud DNS. Google Domains doesnโt offer a API that Letโs Encrypt can use
This is about 5 things confusing.
i have disabled Cloud DNS API as it seems not a right way for automatic cert renewal.
Anyway is the problem really adding seperate certificates for every subdomain, do you have so many?
Maybe it's less hassle to have DNS-O-Matic and Nginx proxy manager?
It's still a 1 by 1 thing though
let me try to create a dnsomatic account and see whether it can update my my dynamic public ip to google domain
anyway this add on like no longer updated
https://github.com/marthoc/hassio-addons/tree/master/dnsomatic
Doesn't mean it won't work though, but yeah
i dont need this my thought, as in i have USG to update my dynamic ip to google
Also true
its clear that LetsEncrypt do not support Google domain
๐ i will use the manual way instead
https://medium.com/@saurabh6790/generate-wildcard-ssl-certificate-using-lets-encrypt-certbot-273e432794d7
Hi All is this the right area to ask a question an Amazon Alexa use?
Maybe #voice-assistants-archived ?
I haven't set it up yet myself so unless it's an add-on issue, I'd try there
cheers, didnt see that
Struggling to get httpS running. DuckDNS is installed, running, Port forwarding on router for ports 443 and 8123. Not working ๐ฆ
need more details Sander
i found a way to achieve what i want
which is using CloudFlare
just change the name sever in my google domain
to be pointing to CLoudFlare's name servers
then i can use the LetsEncrypt addon in hassos to modify the DNS records
to achieve auto cert renewal
need more details Sander
@lethal root Can't connect with hass.io from outside network. Browser says "ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR". What can i test to find more info?
Do you forward 443->443 or 443->8123 ?
No, can't set that on my router ๐ฆ
It's either A or B, not "no"
I'm sorry, didn't read it correct. It's set like this: 443 > 443 + 8123 > 8123
So you can't forward 443 to 8123?
nope
What version are you on?
strangely, i had it set up before.
Because 0.110 just introducted internal_url and external_url
0.110.1
and deprecated base_url
i have generated the cert sucessuflly
Quick MQQT question. I have now got this running and works okay. Added three tasmota plugs and all works okay, however mostly because I SetOption19=1 and they advertised themselves to HA. I just added my printer and MQQT saw it connect, however I cannot get HA to see this. I'm assuming I have to manually setup? If I do, I cannot find the setup file that the three tasmota plugs were added to which would seem to be the logical place. That suggests they just go into a DB rather than a text config. How do I get HA to see a new device in MQQT?
I think you'd generally configure a sensor to read the state/attributes from MQTT.
Check this, @modern hound : https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/sensor.mqtt/
And a free example: https://hastebin.com/doxorucotu.makefile. I created that binary sensor so I know when my dumb doorbell is pressed (I have an RF bridge that sends the payload to MQTT).
i have one question about the AdGuard Home addon
how do i change the value of DNS cache?
The cache? You mean on your other devices?
no
if i am using adguard home standalone, i can edit the dns cahce value in file AdGuardHome.yaml
but i cant find a way to edit it in ADGuard Home add on in Hassos
According to the documentation there's no cache configuration options. https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-adguard-home#configuration
Then the short answer is: you can't do it.
The slightly longer answer is: raise a feature request on the GitHub repo and see if someone can implement the option.
So, it seems like the snapshot feature just copies the MariaDB database files into it? Anyone know if this is doing a file-system snapshot? Or if it's using xtrabackup to get a consistent backup? If not, then the chance of corruption is really quite high, which isn't ideal.
@fair onyx posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/njZtK8z9Bz/

Does someone have an idea why it doesn't work ?
I enabled the WOL in the bios and added the key in the registry and allowed it in the firewall.
Can anyone help me out with getting switches to work with grafana? I just want to be able to graph when a switch is "on" or "off".. but I think because it's a non-numerical value, the queries don't work
Has any found a way to install pihole since the add on has been deprecated?
@near viper you would just run it elsewhere on your network
I only have the one pi right now and nothing else to run it on atm so I wanted to have it on the same system with HA.
that's not going to happen without having it as an add-on. You might look to adguard instead. It is the same in concept: dns filtering, add your own lists, etc. Once it is running there is also a nice integration for it from HA's integration page.
I've been playing with it a bit.
Hi I am reaching out for some help i want to add on a repository but I cannot get it to work. I copy the URL and add it to the repository window and press add then a small circle appears and then disappears without adding the repository. My user is of administrator level. is this a bug or am I being thick?
which repo @neon hamlet
I'm trying to add my old influxdb to a new Supervised installation, but I just can't find where the db is stored. I tried setting env_variables but it doesn't seem to work. Is /addons available to the influxdb addon?
Has something changed so that this is no longer correct: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/influxdb-hassio-add-on-changing-default-database-location/172354/6?u=comatose_tortoise ?
Because I can't find the hassio directory in /usr/share

started happening after I updated my home assistant the other day
I been googling and it seems many people have this issue but nothing definitive to resolve it
did you see the new internal/external url options @acoustic lily ?
Most of that is the nodered container failing to connect with the HA container when you are restarting HA and this is normal to see.
@lethal root no I haven't, what is that and will it fix this?
I'd listen to cogneato's suggestion first ๐
@sly kindle no sir, this happens every half hour or so regardless of restarting HA
just did it again....

it does this over and over until the Pi gets completely jammed and HA crashes and I have to pull the power on the Pi and plug it in again to restart it
hmm. the "none is not str" is new to me actually
How can I fix this websocket API thing?
If it began happening around the same time as the 0.110 upgrade, have you confirmed you've got the correct internal and external addresses? The way you configure those has changed.
@cunning wolf yes quite likely. what must I do?
yes
check configuration > general in the ui
@cunning wolf yes quite likely. what must I do?
@acoustic lily https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/2020/05/20/release-110/#internal--external-urls
I'm currently running 109.6
ok just updating it now so I can follow you
(not sure why that would be related though)
Ok I've got it updated
I can see the external and internal URL now, but yeah dunno how it's related
I'll see maybe the update will make it more stable... here's hoping
seems like it's a rather curly problem that there is not simple answer for
@acoustic lily most of those you are seeing who are posting these aren't paying attention to when it happens. But in your case if HA isn't being restarted that's different
Hello, is the PLEX addon useless if using a Virtual machine?
@gritty hornet Depends on where you want to store your media library

@fair onyx try it with a completely different app...there should be phone apps you can install for instance
how am I supposed to interact with the mobile application
?
android? ios? I'm saying you install an app which can do remote shutdown, and then see if that works, and then you can rule out settings on the windows end
Like the "shutdown start remote" app on android for instance
i'm on android but I don't get how I am supposed to interact via ha to the app
no. you are just testing remote shutdown from another app entirely
nothing to do with HA
Just as a way of determining "is my problem with the HA addon, or is it a problem with Windows"
make sense?
yea complety, i tried with an app on my android but it detect my two computers as offline, and when i tried to turn them on, nothing append.
i edited the firewall, and enabled the bios option for wol, i don't know what to do ๐ญ
fixed
So for the next person that searches for the same problem, you're going to post how you fixed it... right?
@lethal root been told its a known error and has been fixed in dev so just need to wait for the main release - thanks for your interest, to answer the question was all of them
Thanks foe the followup
Hi All ! , have a question , non of my addons logs are showing up on its pane . Is there something a may be missing to configure for the new log style to work? , thanks
When checking configuration I get this error: "Component error: spotcast - No module named 'pychromecast.quick_play". What does this mean?
I have another problem: ERROR (MainThread) [homeassistant.components.deconz] Error connecting to deCONZ gateway at 172.30.33.2 and can not start ha it has ip .6 at end
hmm anyway toi get supervisor on windows?
Supervisor
I did install it
but cannot execute the follow command
python -m supervisor.services install -c supervisord.conf
any ideias what is missing?
afaik, it's not supported on Windows
I don't see it here: https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/installation/
Who said anything about a completely different site being fake?
Maybe you can install supervisor on Windows. But what next? You going to try to install HA on there too?
If you are... good luck. Maybe it'll work. But there's no support for it, which means no help.
Good for you?
hmm, ok can be
and it isn't HA's website
An install of HA which uses the supervisor container is a whole ecosystem which uses docker
oh ok, I was trying to have addons in HA
Being new is fine. We were all new once. And rude? I pointed you to the installation documentation...
It's not something you add to an installation of HA after the fact
addons are docker containers, HA is in a container, etc.
ok got it
@sly kindle , thanks , yes it is were im but , the log tab is always empty on all of them , not a single line
soo, better way to get the things done is with linux then
@eternal finch yep. or flash the image to an SD for a pi or nuc...it has a very minimal linux OS and docker ready to go
I'm attempting to add a custom repository HACS and getting the following error. It's the first time I've seen this when adding a repository, so I'm wondering whether it's a problem with the newest versions of HACS or whether I should raise an issue with the repo owner: http://prntscr.com/smze0d
eheh i want to have my intel comput stick only for this ๐
@cunning wolf that page doesn't exist
This is the full URL, it's just not visible in the screenshot: https://github.com/Limych/hassio-addons
It appears to contain 2 add-ons but I don't know what the repo structure should be to tell if it's incorrect.
It's not that HACS can't find it. If I give it an incorrect URL, it gives a 404.
you're trying to add an addon repo to HACS
Oh. It's not HACS? That'll be another nuclear facepalm from me then.
do that in Supervisor
Hey. I was hoping someone could help. I feel like I'm missing some small detail... I have the MotionEye Add-On installed, a few cameras feeding into it via RTSP, and am able to view them from Lovelace - beautiful. Under "File Storage" I have them configured under "Custom Path" /share/motioneye/Camera1 etc... Setting it up this way did create the share folders as expected, and I can navigate to them by way of the Samba Share add-on, but the folders are empty. ID-10-T error?
I don't get the new HACs UI. How do you install new addons?
Addons donโt come from HACS
Integrations/Plugins/Themes. Apologies.
Hit the plus sign in the bottom right
That's talking about adding repository, not installing integration.
Nope
Is that the new (confusing) wording for "installing integration"?
Better to take this to the HACS discord server
True
But itโs all in the docs: https://hacs.xyz/
@sly kindle Just thought I'd let you know the issue I had with the node red API token has been resolved. After more diagnosis today, I figured out that when I dragged in a home assistant node into node red a week or so ago and set up the 'server', I did not have a proper token or something. Even though I had deleted the home assistant nodes, the server node was still there in the background trying to connect to my home assistant which had no long life token set up for it. Once I deleted the server node, the problem went away! Thanks to watching @warm sluice node red video on youtube, I realised I had skipped this vital step.
Hi ๐
Somebody would know if i can install an old version of Deconz addon ?
My HA was installed on an SD card, i migrated on an SSD yesterday, but with the last Deconz version (5.3), it doesn't work (it works again if i reboot on my SD Card, with the old version 3.5)
I use HA Supervised, sometimes when system boot HA will setting up correctly, but looks likes add-ons is not accessible from UI and HA. there is some errors about this: https://del.dog/exuhanaghu.txt
Also there is some other error, like can not get update last version, not connected with Hass.io / system busy! and some more...
@acoustic lily ah ok. Thanks for the info.
Sorry for mention, @jade wing @worthy geyser About my problem with mqtt-addon and integration, may this happen if HA try to setting up and connect to mqtt-broker before this will setting up completely?
Or run mosquitto in a proper other environment
There is not any priority to order running docker container by supervisor? or any event based run?
Or is there any way to retry after a period of time?
#330944238910963714 would know
We couldn't stop you if we wanted ๐คท
Anybody in here know anything about the MotionEye Add-On that I can bounce some stuff off of?
if any one else have this issue -> https://github.com/home-assistant/supervisor/issues/1707 plz help
no, restart HA does nothing, cant reboot from ui. only by cut off power?
can i call this service, hassio.host_reboot?'

May I suggest you use plain English instead of 'jokes' like 'ID-10-T' that less well-informed or non-native speakers may not understand?
lol! Sorry mono... I was just wondering if I may have just been missing something small
I know what you meant, and I know it was intended to be humorous. I don't have the answer to your question, so I'll stay quiet and let someone else answer that does ๐
@sour cloak you have to configure whether you want motion detected snapshots or video stored as well. did you do that? (careful because you can quickly eat up space with those)
Thanks for the courteous advice mono, I'm relatively new to Discord, and I totally didn't think of how a translator would've handled that.
Thanks cogneato, I'll look into those settings.
Hi guys, Just joined. I'm looking for some advice regarding using the mariadb add on through supervisor. I have data feeding into the db homeassistant now and managed to get grafana connected eventually after using 'core-mariadb' instead of the IP!! But I'd really like to connect using MYSQL WORkBENCH. I have installed the ODBC also to assist but just won't connnect using the IP of the host. Has anyone successfully connected to the mariadb addon through the mysql workbench? Thanks
You can set a port number in the addon config
ah brill so what would the syntax look like? There are currently 3 categories in the config. databases/logins/rights
I see under Network Container config it has ;3306/tcp. but under Host = 'null'
Replacing null with a port like 3306 allows network access. The rest are MariaDB permissions
perfect just rebooting with that change. ๐ค thanks
Restarting the addon is enough
awesome - connection success through workbench. Wish I had found this forum earlier. Spent the last 2 days trying to get info on this. Thanks!!
Btw...
Discord isn't like IRC, you don't have to tag people on every response. Keep in mind that every time you tag somebody, they get a notification ping. That can very quickly become annoying and people may block you.
ah I did not know that. Was using it like Slack at work to notify that person
Np
First thing to fix is the timezone - I see my timestamps are 3 hours out
timezone in general config of HomeAssistant is set correctly though. ๐ค
Hey Folks! Anyone here who's using the Grocy addon?
hi does anybody know if there is a way to make HACS do an update as my new installed Pi 4 is not showing the interrogations it should?
I'm having an issue pulling in a newly created mysql view data into a lovelace card. If I create the entire query in the sensor yaml the data comes into the card. if I create the same query but as a saved VIEW in the database and select * from Viewname in the sensor yaml nothing comes in. Maybe syntax issues with the yaml rendering? query: 'SELECT * FROM homeassistant.Heating_Downstairs_On'
@austere sierra just blue-skying here from an SQL perspective, but have you tried selecting the field names from the view? maybe it doesn't play well without explicit field names?
Hi Stylo. I'll give that a go thanks - yeah maybe it doesn't like the select .*
You got it Stylo!! Had to specify the name. Yes that recalls setting up a linked server on a sql database to mysql once. Within the openquery syntax I had to specify each column. Cheers!
yay!
Though it kinda of defeats the purpose of having a view you could change and just have those changes show up in the card ๐ฆ
the sensor yaml is going to be a lot smaller now!!
Been trying to calculate the time between device states so I can calculate other factors like time on and power/cost/kwH. Maybe a bit long winded but could not find an elapsed time column in homeassistant being inserted into mysql. query: https://hastebin.com/upukekogad.sql
yeah history stats had something easy but that was on the default database. Could change the purge time but been advised it is resource heavy
I believe this one groups it by entity and by day nicely. total time in minutes for each device: https://hastebin.com/epuseharim.sql
~share @austere sierra
@austere sierra Please use https://paste.ubuntu.com/ or https://www.hastebin.com/ to share code or logs.
There's probably a form of using node-red to insert data into a specific table from the device actions isn't there but I haven't had the time to learn about node-red yet.
Has anyone had success setting up different locations on NGINX Proxy Manager?
@shy girder did you ever get nginx proxy manager custom locations working correctly? I am having the same issues and I am unable to find any supporting documentation around it.
@frigid root different servers?
good morning all - I have an issue with the trv-proxy for lightwave - it doesnt appear to work on raspberry pi 4b
keep getting the "WARNING (SyncWorker_1) [lightwave.lightwave] TRV proxy not responing" error
dont seem to be able to run trvproxy anywhere either
any help would be really appreciated
@onyx raven this channel is for add-ons. Are you asking about an integration? Or a custom integration?
its an inbuilt add on I guess Lightwave RF - the trv element
thats the one
you want to pursue this in #integrations-archived
OK many thanks - have a good day
Turns out they're looking for an add-on to run the trvproxy part in
Deconz add-on: I can get into the add-on UI - and all my sensors and switches apear there and are updating, but show as unavailable in Lovelace/states. I apologize for a super dumb question, but I for the life of me can't find the official addons tab in the latest (stable as of yesterday) Home Assistant docker install. I went through the HACS install steps and have the community repos, but can't find the official ones. I see folks talking about hassio and they have an add-ons button on the bottom left of their side bar, but I don't. I've turned on advanced configs... everything. Help would be greatly appreciated!!
@sly kindle same server, running in docker containers
Is hacs broken only for me?
@hybrid jackal loads up for me, didn't try to install anything though
The page is basically a giant hacs logo
Oh fuck this server still doesnt let you screenshot
@hybrid jackal update to latest, clear browser cache
Aaah I forgot about the browser cache thing
no need to share pics, pretty well known ๐
I remember seeing it on Reddit a while ago
@sly kindle is there any other information that you need from me?
@frigid root which add-ons are you looking to add proxies to?
I am wanting to use the proxy manager to proxy to my plex server, radarr, sonarr, etc.
it's mostly a matter of enabling their ports
if you have your own domain you can create a wildcard cname
Yeah, its not allowing it though...weird.
I was hoping to use it like example.com/radarr, example.com/sonarr, etc
sonarr.example.com is what I used to do
or...still do. I just have one for ombi these days
yeah, that is really all I am looking to use is ombi
but I would like it to be example.com/ombi
but what I am hearing is that this add-on wont work that way.
yeah
any other suggestions for this? Only reason that I am trying to go that way is because I am using duckdns for my domain
I would like to leverage one domain and just proxy with different folder names
duckdns allows up to 5 subs but you need to use ombi.yourduck.duckdns.org
Anyone else experience the HACS logo at the bottom of all pages (or underneath the web app)?
bookmarks and browser syncing...who enters urls anymore ๐
@honest pelican yes. you could probably search "hacs logo" here in discord and see. Make sure it's up to date and clear your browser cache
Also, HACS is not related to addons
Anyone have any ideas on why I cant start the Samba share addon?
I am running on Rpi 4 with a fresh install of supervised
Normally I thought it had a box for settings for the password and stuff but right now it has nothing.
@coral hearth look at the top of the addon page.
@sly kindle Got it I hadn't seen that change yet now I know where to set the config and that makes total sense.
@coral hearth yep. all broken out now instead of one long column
Thanks.
Ok so I got my snapshot back in the back up folder and got it to show up and tried restoring it but it just sits there? Any Ideas?
forget it I appearently password protected the backup
@cunning wolf @sly kindle whoa that was the search of all searches for that password but just found it. I was starting to look into John the Ripper. But knowing how I create passwords I may have never recovered the password.
Awesome achieved what I wanted. From a stored procedure in mysql, call procedure in granana - create dashboard. Use that url in a lovelace card. The datepickers (from the mysql prcoedure parameters) interact with grafana from the lovelace card!
well not quite as expected - the datepickers function but are not sending the values back to grafana by the looks of it - more work to do on this
Does Anyone know if I can restore the setup of the nginx Proxy Manager by restoring the files and folders in the SSL directory of the samba share?
I have managed to setup nginx proxy manager-addon but I cannot figure out how to make webhooks work with nginx. Anyone who can help?
Has anyone started on an add-on for Tailscale? Similar to zerotier

Maybe its because I dont have ssl setup?
supervisor manages all containers, image downloads, and image updates
Got it thats good to know
so supervisor logs whenever an add-on doesn't start or doesn't update or doesn't install
Ok was reading the log upside down thinking new would be on top.

Hi all, I can't seem to replace PiHole with Adguard...The DNS doesn't resolve and blocks all internet traffic. AdGuard stats remain at zero. I'm running 0.110.2 HA with supervisor 224. Basic steps I followed: I installed AdGuard; configed it to be ssl: false; Deactivated Pihole; Started Adguard;l Changed the port from the default 53 to the one specified in PiHole; Changed the DNS on my Google Wifi router app to match new DNS ip. i tried various combos of DNS IPs, ports and what not. Nothing gives. Only working config is when i fire up Pihole add-on...Help please
have you set the static ip as indicated in the adguard home? - step 1 in installation https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-adguard-home/blob/v2.3.3/README.md#installation
Anyone using bitwarden_rs?
Hi everyone, I'm having trouble with the File Editor add-on. It runs great on my phone, but on my PC the text window is offset and the text cursor doesn't line up properly, which makes it very difficult to edit text. I have no idea where to look to fix this. Any thoughts?
https://pasteboard.co/JatWFsK.jpg
You might want to just edit it from a real text editor via Samba.
yes, I still have notepad++. This is more of a convenience (or it should be, lol).
I'm not sure what's more convenient about having to load a webpage and edit via a poor UI ๐คทโโ๏ธ
But I haven't come across that issue before. What about in other browsers?
I'll give it a try.

New VM user - I'm in the process of migrating my Hassio from a RPI3+ to a Virtual Box with Oracle on a Windows 10 system. I've created the Virtual Box under Linux 64-bit and created a Hassio VDI image. I've been successfully using Samba on the Win 10 system and RPI3+ in the past. I wish to copy a snapshot of my existing RPI3+ Hassio image to the new VM using Samba. I've installed the Samba add-on on the new VM and started it. Then using Win 10 file explorer I can see it finds the new "homeassistant" drive. However, when I attempt to view any of the contents it
encounters an error.
Tx-ST-HomeToday at 11:15 AM
The Samba log error
The VM is configured at 192.168.1.145 and is hosted on the Win 10 PC (192.168.1.120). So I recognize that using Samba requires ports 139 and 145 and the error appears to indicate a request is being sent to the VM at 192.168.145:139 and is being denied. Any ideas or recommendations on how to resolve this issue would be appreciated.
The Samba log error is "Connection denied from ipv4:192.168.1.120:50379 to ipv4:192.168.1.145:139"
Alright then. My main issue is that when I modify the config file and restart HASS I almost always am not able to reconnect. I am looking for a way to modify the config files outside of the web GUI. I was told I could SSH into the SSH add on to do so. Would someone be kind enough to explain to me how? I installed HA by flashing it to an SD card and throwing it into my Raspberry Pi 3
- Enabled Advanced mode in your user profile
- Search the add-ons store for SSH
- Install and configure
configure how?
You'll see when you get that far
I've reached that step and I do not see how
It should be in the UI
under host do I need to insert my raspberry pi IP?
I'm currently under the config tab for the SSH add-on
Then, hopefully somebody who uses this install method will be around to help you - I don't use it, and I don't know if/where the docs are for the add-on
My HA Install crashed lastnight - managed to find a backup SD card and restore to it. So I've been trying to get everything back up and running - nearly there except duckdns doesnt seem to want to run. Gives me this error.
20-05-28 17:00:26 ERROR (SyncWorker_5) [supervisor.docker] Can't start addon_core_duckdns: 403 Client Error: Forbidden ("endpoint with name addon_core_duckdns already exists in network hassio")
does samba share only work for windows
It'll work for any OS that can connect to Windows file shares
Oh, and the SSH add-on, set 22 in the Host field and it works ๐คท
I got SSH working thank you
So what your saying is its possible to connect to the windows file shares from linux?
Again, I am really just looking for a way to modify the config file from outside the web GUI what channel should I ask that on given that I'm running linux ubuntu and I've installed my HA by flashing the img onto the SD card
Well, SSH gives you your primary access
loginthencd /config
@jade wing says no such file or directory
Let me spin the VM up again ๐คท
thank you
is there a reason why when I plug a monitor, keyboard, and mouse into the pi running HA that cd /config is not found?
No idea
Probably you're on the host itself there, but I don't use it
#330990055533576204 would be the place to ask about that
thanks for the help

Is anyone else having issues with the VSCode add-on recently? It randomly loses connection all the time now fo rme
any way to add this addon to hacs ?

Hey there, is this the right place to ask a Grafana question?

is there any way to see how much space each addon is consuming?
in white only?
heh.. that was meant for somewhere else.. my reaction to someone telling me that smart blinds were now available at the local hardware store
@sly kindle unfortunately I can't add it to the ha core
add-ons are docker containers. You would need the supervisor add-on store to add any addon repos
you could use those commands using the community ssh add-on with protection mode off
I guess there wasn't enough space for a snapshot :/
20-05-29 05:36:55 ERROR (MainThread) [supervisor.snapshots.snapshot] Can't read snapshot tarfile /data/backup/920c7a3e.tar: unexpected end of data

it's the manual custom component i mean
Hey @manic fox Yes I created the my-network file for a wired/LAN connection at \CONFIG\network\ with the following entry :
[connection]
id=my-network
uuid=d55162b4-6152-4310-9312-8f4c54d86afa
type=802-3-ethernet

dns=8.8.8.8;8.8.4.4;
[ipv6]
addr-gen-mode=stable-privacy
method=auto
Odd however that in Cloud9 IDE none of the variables are coloured like in other files (config.yaml, etc). All the text remains white. As if the file format wasn't right or if the file wasn't active/taken into account by the OS...
Is anyone else getting this error when trying to open add on's (like VS Code, Node Red, etc)? https://imgur.com/a/7Eq8I6c
It actually happens when I try to open the Supervisor tab as well - so I don't think it is related to add-ons...so maybe this is the wrong channel?
hmmm - I've rebooted a dozen times in the last 24 hours - cleared my cache a bunch of times, nothing seems to work
How do I check if supervisor is running?
rebooted or restarted HA
they aren't the same
restarting HA only restarts HA and all the other addon containers stay running
and this does not restart docker itself
I've done both - restarted from the Server Controls menu, and rebooted, as in stopped and restarted the VM I'm running HA on
if this is a VM you should have a terminal to the host you can use to check out what is going on
and also, "stopping" some VMs isn't the same as rebooting them
it can be more like "pause"
depends on what you are using
Virtualbox for the VM - unsure about terminal access
Is there anything I can add to the Logger: component to check this in the HA logs?
the supervisor is independent of HA
HA logs will contain nothing about it
with virtualbox you should have a console which opens automatically when you start the vm
its the scroilling dmesg window which I assume is open somewhere on your desktop
ok - I'll look into rebooting the VM vice just stopping and restarting it. The other "power" options in Virtualbox VM's are Stop, Pause, Reset, and ACPI Shutdown
Yeah I have the window for the VM - but it's all Greek to me.
ah - I do see an "out of memory: kill process (node-red)" msg in there
ok - what cmd do I need to run to check if supervisor is running?
@muted fjord from the custom command line, type "login" and hit enter
then you'll be at a # prompt and at the host
docker ps will show containers
great, appreciate the assist, will give that a go
Anyway to control lights from Cloud Assistant ? how or Fcmila lights
cloud assistant?
can anyone assist me with the Samba share add-on? I have it started and configured. Where do I find the URL to connect my windows machine to?
I don't see the VM under networking either so I can't connect manually
Does anyone know why when I try to open the web ui to "Nginx Proxy Manager" it wont allow me to create an account? It just prompts me to enter creds.
@light osprey it's the ip address of your instance
ok let me give that a shot ty
@sly kindle Thank you ๐ข
why the tears? doesn't work?
I guess this has changed since I first started using this addon thanks I also was going to the github without looking at the readme thinking it would be on the default page
Thanks again @sly kindle FTW
you are AWESOME ๐
@light osprey I had good success using the script for getting HACs
script??
using that line in the community ssh & web terminal addon made it every easy
It's not
no. it's pretty lame
It's also not a #add-ons-archived
GTP started with a samba question which IS an addon
Yeah, I'll let it pass this time
thanks
@dark yoke script still works as far as you know?
does it need the community ssh addon or am I just making that up?
yes, no
You need something to run it in, on hassos you need access to the mapped /config share.
on #330944238910963714 / #551864459891703809 you can do it on the host
on #449717345808547842 you are pretty much on your own
I have another question about DuckDNS.
I'm trying to point duckdns to an alias on my own domain, but I can't pass challenge validation:
OK + Challenge validation has failed :(
ERROR: Challenge is invalid! (returned: invalid) (result: {
"type": "dns-01",
"status": "invalid",
"error": {
"type": "urn:ietf:params:acme:error:unauthorized",
"detail": "Incorrect TXT record \"-WzG-2KB9FILQ8ru3ldTWbkDPWudtMth2UH1UF1E638\" found at _acme-challenge.home.my-custom-domain.com",

"token": "4UXPaoHCMnvl_nOdLNRhXdPnFzjQin0I3bHVQLNhL5A"
})
I've added TXT record _acme-challenge.home.my-custom-domain.com with value as a token, but a new token generates every time.
Can I fix that somehow?
There's even an issue about that https://github.com/home-assistant/hassio-addons/issues/1331 and it's still without a reply
why choose influxdb over mariaDB which is an official add-on
aren't both official add ons? I have them under supervisor
there's an official repo and a community repo...and many other repos which aren't added by default
but the answer is still "choice". influxdb is a time series db
Is it normal for the MariaDb addon to use so much of the cpu? Got 16 containers on ubuntu and always the addon_core_mariadb is using 90% of the docker cpu usage. Using glances. What do yours show? Although only 35% of the host cpu is being used
Should I consider shifting to influxdb? I'm used to working with mysql workbench and find it so easy to create views and procs that I can insert into grafana
Hi. I am trying to get the duckdns addon working. My dns is reachable remotely however the duckdns addon is not generating the certificates and it is not reachable at https or http
@honest night posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/xj4437nGXh/
That is my entire config.yaml but in my log I get this error Invalid config for [http]: not a file for dictionary value @ data['http']['ssl_certificate']. Got '/ssl/fullchain.pem' not a file for dictionary value @ data['http']['ssl_key']. Got '/ssl/privkey.pem'. (See /config/configuration.yaml, line 14).
The 'base_url' option (with value 'https://googlink.duckdns.org:8123') is deprecated, please remove it from your configuration
I also get this^ error
Any help is appreciated.
From the first error it looks like it cant find the certificates and that the addon is not generating any certificates
one more piece of info, I only port forwarded external 8123 at duckdns to internal hass.io at 8123
Do i need more port forwards setup for the duckdns addon to get the ssl certs?
update - I figured out why the certs are being created. The addon doesnt actually try to get the certs
thats the last line
that runs and then it stops
if anyone knows what that means please let me know. Thank You.
@honest night what are your installation details?
you don't need ports open for the cert.
but you would need them to connect to your instance afterwards
ok. can you restart the addon and watch the logs again?
and you're hitting refresh?
yes
wait
nvm
It is still going
however there are still not certs being generated
I will let it run for a few mintues and see what else is in the log

ah ok. that's better
that data/workdir/lock....
an uninstall and reinstall of the addon should fix it
Hmm okay
copy your config into the clipboard first
okay
so you can easily paste it in the new one
okay I am installing it now I will keep you posted
I've seen this enough to be fairly certain
I think you were correct
it says generating account key in the log
def much better than before thank you
Heyho, I set up the samba addon in my fresh hassio supervised setup on a rasbian. I see the files inside /config but on in /addons, /backp, /share and /ssl.
I have a custom data share folder (/home/pi/hassio), but since homeassistant runs in a docker this should not mess up the mapping.
Anyone an idea?
nvm I realised that /addons maps to /addons/local... is there a way to access the /addons/core folder with the samba addon?
@dusty coyote No there is not
Installed Home Panel... Stunning! One thing goes wrong: editing configuration can't be saved. Is there a save button or is it auto-save?
Hey, im trying to add ssl to my hassio. Problem is that I want to use my own domain and on port 80/443 there's already my synology diskstation. The diskstation is already using a letsencrypt certificate. I only find tutorials for duckdns, can anyone help me?
You could possibly specify a different set of ports that don't conflict with your existing port forwarding to your Synology.
If it works, it'd mean having to specify the port whenever you access it, since https assumes port 443.
yea sure i know, but the problem is that i dont know how to enable ssl on hassio without duckdns
i saw theres a letsencrypt addon
and it says that the challenge failed
You could always get your own certificate and then use nginx to deal with the proxy. That would have the added benefit that accessing your HA instance internally wouldn't give SSL errors.
I've never done it, so I can't help out with steps... but you can either research that or wait for someone else wiser than me to jump in.
@cunning wolf thanks i managed it now with nginx
Bluetooth tracker on pie4 and hassio?I have not found any useful information on if this is available or how to get blue tooth working
well how about this? https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/bluetooth_tracker/
@manic fox I don't even think Bluetooth is tuned on with hassio pie 4
Do I need to install something.
This platform requires pybluez to be installed.
Yes you need to install if not already there. The page i indicated has the instructions
How do you install using assistant operating system?
I'm not using docker
I out the yamle config for low power version and my logs said I don't have Bluetooth service
you can't install anything into HassOS
That is what I thought irritating when people tell to to lol ๐
this isn't an addons question, and you're more likely to get a relevant response if you post in the right installation method channel
in this case, it's #330944238910963714
Ok thank
generally, hassos should already have all dependencies installed for built-in integrations like that
because there's no other way to do it.
all bets are off with custom components and such
I tried both ways error messages on the lowoower one and nothing with full power nothing in my known device yaml. Tha is for pointing me to correct thread
I am having an issue with value rendering from a device. Tried lookup online for any solution already but it seems noone has encountered this or at least made a note of it.
Using an integraton called 'HEKR' for a SmartMeter , it all works fine. But I am netmetering, thus the power can flow backwards. And this is where the integration/hass goes into the mist.
On the mobile phone app called Wisen, it shows up fine with a negative value but in hass it's incredibly high as the value has 100000 unit added. I don't know if that's the actual value coming from the sensor (and the Wisen app automatically changes it into a negative) or that negative values from the sensor can't be negative in the integration and by some integer error it's 100000 higher.
Anyone?
Please DO NOT cross post. Read the channel description, post it and wait for folks to respond.
You were in the right place the first time
ok.. was wondering it was a addon or a integration issue
ERROR (SyncWorker_2) [supervisor.docker] Can't create container from addon_a0d7b954_adguard: 404 Client Error: Not Found ("No such image: hassioaddons/adguard-armv7:2.4.1")

Do I need to reinstall?
Can anybody help me with setting up the DHCP server on the AdGuard Home addon? I've set up a static ipv4 address using the usb config button and it has updated the static address. However, I'm still getting the error open /etc/dhcpcd.conf: no such file or directory when i try to save the DHCP config, making it impossible to override and starting the server.
Does anyone have the same issue as me in AdGuard? In the settings page, the 3 options "Use AdGuard browsing security web service", "Use AdGuard parental control web service", and "Enable safe search" turn them selves back on every couple of hours and I need to manually log in and turn them off. When they are on they cause Youtube comments to come through as Restricted and wont show, they also block some Youtube videos that it thinks are innepropriate. Wondering why they keep getting turned back on after I manually turn them off. Any suggestions?
Hey, I have the "Home Assistant Community Add-ons" in my install but how do I add "https://github.com/home-assistant/hassio-addons"
Those always added/visible
ahh okay, File editor doesnt show in my addons for example
Enable advanced mode on your profile to see addons that are more aimed toward advanced usage
ahh thanks
Is is impossible at this time to use the DHCP server of AdGuard Home addon when running home assistant in Hassio image?
So i turned on Advanced Mode but only get the addons in this list:
https://addons.community/
I am missing the ones in this list:
https://github.com/home-assistant/hassio-addons
I have a fresh install, followed the instructions on the website. Im not sure if I have to add the second repository. I tried adding it via a URLin the "Manage add-on repositories" section, but still doesn't pull/show them.
I want to make a my http link to https is there some way to install nginx true the terminal? because you cant download it with sudo right?
Hi really basic question. I have the standard Hassio installation and I am trying to install the HACS folder in the custom configurations folder. I have the Terminal & SSH addons and can access Terminal from the Hassio UI. I am using a Mac. What is the best way for me to move the HACS folder over to my raspberry Pi? Do I need a SSH key? Do I need to use a program like cyberduck?
If you can already SSH in, I believe you can use scp to copy across that session.
ok I will look up scp (secure copy?)
I am currently checking out the MQTT Addon. I have some lights in my home. I know the topic on which they listen and the payload for on/off/dim state in bytes, which I am currently publishing with Python. Is there a way how I can use the AddOn to manage my devices? I have looked at the MQTT light template and am not sure how to accomplish my goal or if it's even possible
Does anyone know why I dont seem to getting auto complete on Visual Studio Code?
document type is not "Home Assistant"
@dark yoke I am editing a yaml file wouldn't that count?
No
Don't ask if you can ask. Just ask...

I'm looking for a method to access remotely to the router (191.168.1.1.) within TOR. Right now I'm using the Tor Addon to connect to Hassio with SSH e SFTP
My connection Is a NAT from my service provider, thats why i moved ti Tor
P.s. maybe open a VPN with tor, possibile?
@native comet did you get that sorted? Seems more than strange since the one's you have are the community addons, whereas the ones missing are the official addons. If anything it should be the other way round. If I'm not mistaken official addons won't even come up on the repository list since they're there by default anyway.
goodmorning ๐
I have a question...again
I want to Wake up on lan and receive status from my pc
I have ubunto + Home Assistant + supervisor
I have anyway to doit without HACs ?
SAMBA - morning, Setup- Hassio on Server/ADBlock home/Samba Share - Everything working perfect but cant access file structure from Ubuntu??? any thoughts?
I apologize if that is not the place to ask but I am having issues with Mosquitto, namely I cannot get to connect via websocket to it despite the fact that websocket listener is enabled.
Essentially I need to make a javascript interface that can be used by another computer on the same network but I just cannot get it to work.
for the mosquitto addon, under the Known issues and limitations section there is a link with instructions for setting ip ACL.. but it doesn't seem to go anywhere?
@kindred sundial Not sure I understand - can explain what are you trying to do in HA? the Mosquitto and websocket are 2 different things
I am using Home Assistant to control a number of arduinos and other devices via Mosquitto and Node-Red.
I need now to create a javascript / html page that connect to HA's Mosquitto and be able to publish / subscribe on it.
HA's Mosquitto
Mosquitto doesn't belong to HA, it's just another service running alongside. If you're trying to get something else to talk to Mosquitto, it's not really a HA question.
Your problem sounds like a more general 'how do I use Mosquitto?'
One of the first results I found when Googling 'webpage mosquitto': https://www.hivemq.com/blog/build-javascript-mqtt-web-application/
Of course but I am having trouble identifying where the issue is coming from. Mosquitto's log is reporting that it is opening websocket listeners yet when I try to connect to it, only port 1883 is acknowledging any kind of activity, despite the log showing other ports being activated as listeners.
I was wondering if HA might be limiting ports somehow ? If I needed to put some information in configuration.yaml or something ?
If port 1883 works, use port 1883.
And HA isn't limiting ports. The addon is a Docker container with Mosquitto inside. The addon would be the thing limiting access. But the addon works for all of your other uses, right?
Unfortunately, it is not exactly working, it is "acknowledging activity" : "New connection from 192.168.1.100 on port 1883. Socket error on client <unknown>, disconnecting."
It does work for all my other uses yes
So your Mosquitto addon is running and other devices can publish/subscribe correctly? Is the only problem the custom site you're trying to build?
Exactly
So the problem isn't HA.
Check the link I shared, learn how to use a third-party library on your site to facilitate MQTT communication.
Mqtt and ws can Not use the same port
This is why I am trying to declare a new listener port and I get "Opening websockets listen socket on port 9001." from Mosquitto's log
Check the link I shared, learn how to use a third-party library on your site to facilitate MQTT communication.
@cunning wolf Doing so at the moment ๐
and you enabled that under the network config?
Can you indicate what you are trying to achieve? there may be a better way. for example, you could trigger a event in HA from your Javscript, which in turn can use MQTT publish to publish any message to broker
and you enabled that under the network config?
@dark yoke I wrote a mosquitto.conf file in the share folder and added
listener 9001
protocol websockets
That is not the network config
Can you indicate what you are trying to achieve? there may be a better way. for example, you could trigger a event in HA from your Javscript, which in turn can use MQTT publish to publish any message to broker
@manic fox Essentially I need people to be able to use a simple custom javascript / html page to publish on the Mosquitto and interact with the arduinos
use port 1884
in mosquitto config
and make sure it's properly defined in addon network config
and make user it's properly defined in addon network config
@dark yoke I apologize for my newbiness but how would I do that one ? I reckon it might be the source of the problem
@kindred sundial stop
YOu can try using the MQTT client https://www.eclipse.org/paho/clients/js/ If you are using the add-ons from HA, you would also need to pass the username and password
My apologies
@kindred sundial Discord isn't like IRC, you don't have to tag people on every response. Keep in mind that every time you tag somebody, they get a notification ping. That can very quickly become annoying and people may block you.
I was just answering yours
Most people can tell from the context whether your response was intended for them or not.
I thank you all for your support and I really did not intend to annoy any of you
Hey all, having issue with MQTT and HA. I can get my payload to publish to a topic in MQTT under developer tools using the topic winthing/system/commands/open and payload ["C:\Users\JD\Desktop\ledfxdev"] but I am not able to get this to run anywhere else. I have tried node red but it does not seem to carry the payload so I must be missing something. I also tried as a card in lovelace.
Here is my lovelace code
type: 'custom:button-card'
icon: 'mdi:tablet'
name: LedFx Start
tap-action:
action: call-service
service: mqtt-publish
service_data:
topic: winthing/system/commands/open
payload: 'C:\Users\JD\Desktop\ledfxdev'
May have solved my own problem with nodered .. I had this {"payload":"[C:/Users/JD/Desktop/ledfxdev]","topic":"winthing/system/commands/open"} but needed to be {"payload":"['C:/Users/JD/Desktop/ledfxdev']","topic":"winthing/system/commands/open"}
Still cannot get button to work though. Guess I could alwas do a binary switch and link to node red now if I cant figure it out.
I have the mosquitto broker add-on installed but no config file for it. Do I just create one?
If you installed the addon, it has its own Documentation and Configuration tabs. Check them both out, preferably in that order.
AH! Right in freaking front of me
thanks
When the guide says
If you are already using Mosquitto you can setup a bridge to the MQTT broker on the energy bridge by adding:
connection dte
address <IP_OF_BRIDGE>:2883
remote_username admin
remote_password trinity
clientid homeassistant-1
try_private false
start_type automatic
topic # both 0
I just paste that into the configuration under Mosquitto?
@low cliff which guide?
you can't paste arbitrary config into any addon's config page.
Is your MQTT broker on the same network as your HA host?
And you're installing another broker on your HA host?
Oh... you have a device with its own broker? ๐
I'm honestly not 100%. This is the first time I've tried messing with mqtt
of that config is for the energy bridge
May node red home assistant add on has stopped working and wont restart, it has been flawless for months
I'm not sure the Mosquitto addon is going to allow you to do anything that complex. It exists to act as your main broker, not to try to sync with another.
anyone have any idea's what i can try and how do i backup my flows
your flows are in the nodered directory in the config directory. You can browse it to confirm
snapshots would back that up, because anything in config is in a snapshot
hmm
thanks ill make a snapshot and try reinstalling it
did you check the supervisor > system log
check there whenever an addon doesn't start or install
go ahead and try to start it, and then go straight to the logs on the supervisor > system page
Moving on from mqtt to log viewer ๐ When I open it 9 times out of 10 it's just black screen with a blue bar going across the bottom. I have to regularly open and close it for anything to show up.
hmm seems to be a chrome thing. Works fine every time in firefox
Restoring a snapshot and having difficulty restoring Maria DB and other addons. Supervisor logs have entry "20-06-01 17:35:47 ERROR (MainThread) [supervisor.api.proxy] Client error on WebSocket API Cannot connect to host 172.30.32.1:8123 ssl:False [Connection refused]."....where would correct place to post about this issue be?
I am on hassio. Any ideas have to get this backup restored?
Despite my best efforts, I am still nowhere closer to making a MQTT web client connect to my Mosquitto Add-on. Among the dozens of pages I read on the subject, there is a post on the forum implying websockets might not be activated on the Mosquitto Add-on (despite the log saying so) and propose to make a custom local add-on to fix this.
Would anybody know if it is still the case and, thus, the way to go to make sure websockets are enabled on the Mosquitto Add-on ?
Does the NGINX Proxy Manager addon replace the combination of the Let's Encrypt and NGINX Proxy addons? It seems to, but just want to confirm my hunch
yes
In the Proxy Manager config, I specified homeassistant.local as the destination and it didn't resolve. Works with the IP address which is fine for now, but curious if there's a way to make it not hard coded to the IP?
@atomic folio Just use homeassistant (no .local)
thanks
Not sure if you saw it mentioned the other day Frenck, but would love to see a Tailscale add-on ๐ Thanks for all your great work!!
Thanks
Yeah I've seen tailscale
dunno...
I feel like it takes down part of the core principles of WireGuard
I think it makes WG a lot more accessible to the masses, but I respect your opinion. It would remove the need for any proxying for me though, that's why i'm interested.
anyone know how to change the polling time on influxdb?
I'm trying to get temperature sensor readings to be read by influx more often, and it seems that by default the readings are sent every ~5min. Is there a way to change this time?
I can't see anything in the documentation that suggests it's configurable.
is there a way to change how often HA receives temperature readings and updates the overview by chance
HA receives them as often as the integrations provide them. Again, likely not configurable.
If an integration allows you to configure those intervals, it'll (probably) be documented.
I have a sonoff device that sends a temperature sensor reading via mqtt. Even if I'm publishing every other second HA only updates every 5min. You're saying there's no way of configuring this?
I'm saying (multiple times) that something like that would be documented. The influx integration doesn't allow it to be configured, and it's that integration which is responsible for pushing the data into the database.
Your next steps are to look at the code to see if there's something that's not documented, or to raise a feature request for the addon.
Thank you
If you change the teleperiod to a shorter time than 5min it will update influx to a shorter time as well just fyi
@cunning wolf that's exactly where it doesn't work
@cunning wolf that is to say in the addon Documentation tab
unless it's taking me to the information directly above it and the page doesn't scroll so I can't tell
Now that Grafana supports Remote Rendering does the V5.1.0 Add-On support "Remote" Rendering, or just the RR plug-in?
(I do see this clear statement in Known Issues: "To render a panel image, you must install the Grafana Image Renderer plugin.")
I'm just hoping there is some wiggle room in "must" that will allow pointing to a truly "Remote" Renderer from the Add-On.
I've got RR running in docker on a capable server, and HA (nee Hassio) on a Pi3B+.
I set the following Grafana env_vars, but no joy so far.
env_vars:
- name: GF_RENDER_SERVER_URL
value: '<RR-server-IP>:8081/render'
- name: GF_RENDER_RENDERING_CALLBACK_URL
value: '<HA (Hassio) IP>:3000'
does anyone know if it's possible to add drivers to the nut addon? it seems to be missing the megatec_usb driver
I see.. it's been merged with blazer_usb
even with all the settings specified :/
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 3.8.0-3220-g866b921892
Network UPS Tools - Megatec/Q1 protocol USB driver 0.12 (3.8.0-3220-g866b921892)
No supported UPS detected
a year ago I used it with a nut on an rpi
Evening all. I have what is probably a stupid question, but I seem to have changed the default creds for nginx add-on and cannot log in. I ended up removing it all together and reinstalling it however I cannot log in with the standard credentials (admin@example.com/changeme) is there a step I'm missing here? Easier way to recover it that I should have tried? Any help would be amazing. Cheers
May node red home assistant add on has stopped working and wont restart, it has been flawless for months
@umbral island I have the same issue. I was running HA 0.110.4 (Supervisor 225 / HassOS 4.8) on a rpi with node red 6.3.0. I tried downgrading node red to 6.2.0 without success. In the supervisor logs, I am getting this error : "[supervisor.api.proxy] Home Assistant WebSocket API error: Received message 258:WebSocketError('Message size 4512966 exceeds limit 4194304') is not str".
Any one has encountered a similar problem?
currently updating node red...will see what happens
mine seams to be working now following an update of the OS but in the process the ip address of my PI has changed , i'm setting it back manually but making sure all is backed up first
ok changing channel as I'm not sure where to place this one. Grafana/dashboard issue. I have mariadb running smoothly with a mysql connection in grafana. But looking at some grafana dashboards for my mariadb connection and none of them seem to work. For example. Choose mysql datasource for the dashboard and lots of syntax errors - none of the panels work. Aren't these created specifically for mysql mariadb? https://grafana.com/grafana/dashboards/11679
How am I supposed to configure the MariaDB Add-on in terms of db_url: mysql://homeassistant:password@core-mariadb/homeassistant?charset=utf8? Do I literally just change the password to the password in the config of the add-on?
Deconz/raspbee not working on latest HassOS? I may be suffering from #703. Is reverting my best bet right now?
So I restarted my hassio and now Nginx proxy manager won't start and doesnt show any logs (the start button flashes red when pressed) - MariaDB is running
What does your config and ports look like for NPM?
Config:
log_level: info
Ports:
443 443 HTTPS/SSL Entrance port
80 80 HTTP Entrance port
81 81 Proxy management web interface
Did it work okay before you added the log_level? The rest just looks like the defaults.
And you say MariaDB is running. Did you switch over the recorder to use it?
I'm using duckDNS with LetsEncrypt. After the certs have been generated can I close port 443?
You'll probably want to keep 443 open, since that's what HTTPS uses by default.
I configured deconz to use ttyS0 and things started working again...
You could possibly close it but you'd have to specify an alternate port with all your requests.
i.e. https://mydomain:80/ if you only have port 80 open.
Thank you, are there any other ports I should leave open to get duckDNS working? I can't seem to connect and I have port 80, port 443, and port 8123 open...
80 = HTTP, 443 = HTTPS, 8123 = Home Assistant.
Those 3 are enough for what you've described. I have no idea if you need other ports for other things ๐
And duckDNS will update your public IP address of the pi I'm running it on?
That's the idea. The addon should report any changes in your public IP to DuckDNS... DuckDNS will update your DNS record (like your site's entry in the internet phonebook) so people know where to find it.
hm really strange that it's not working then. Any ideas and what avenues I should pursue in troubleshooting this
Do you know your external IP and can you access HA with it from outside of your network?
says connection was reset/timed out
trying to access it from data on my mobile phone, I'm not sure if thats an issue
No, that's ideal. You need to use something that's not on your internal network.
It sounds like the issue is more than just DuckDNS. If you can't access it via your IP address, it's probably something with your router or HA itself.
Double check whatever you did to open/forward your ports.
@vague garden when an addon button flashes red, doesn't start, can't update, etc...you check the supervisor logs at the supervisor > system page
@sleek rune You don't need any ports to authenticate for the cert.
But once the cert has been obtained, you would then configure port forwarding for access
443 to 8123 if you don't want to use :8123 at the end of your duckdns address
8123 to 8123 if you do
In the config of DUCKDNS addon did you add the token also?
I did add the token
This is also assuming you have configured http: integration correctly
@sly kindle Thanks, turns out the port was being used bc I hadn't turned off the old NGINX start on boot
I need to add an http "entity" in the configuration.yaml?
wasn't sure of the word
Would it be worthwhile to mention that in the documentation?
for duck dns
It was removed. I don't agree with it, but...
The thought is that is isn't directly related to using the addon
ssl_certificate: /ssl/fullchain.pem
ssl_key: /ssl/privkey.pem```
That's what you need
and then you would also set external url in configuration > general
that actually enables the ssl
by specifying the path for the cert files
after entering that, and restarting HA, you won't be able to reach the frontend using http://
either local address or duckdns address
Hello All, I am having issue of not finding the DHCP server addon. I find information about this addon all over the internet as being one of home assistant addons, but I don't have it in the addon store!! can someone direct me please.
ill need to use https:// correct?
You need to click on your user at the bottom left and enable advanced mode in the settings there @wet dirge
Already did that and I even tried to disable and re enable it
ok thanks. I tried to logout and login and it appeared
yay
@sleek rune https:// only yes
still not working... any ideas?
can you still reach it using http:// ?
neither
https://local_ip:8123 should show you a warning
putting this in outside my network or within the local network?
local ip address is only going to work from within
"secure connection failed"
and with http:// ?
I can still connect to HA with http://
then you did not add the http: integration correctly
ssl_certificate: /ssl/fullchain.pem
ssl_key: /ssl/privkey.pem```
share what you've entered here
http: ssl_certificate: /ssl/fullchain.pem ssl_key: /ssl/privkey.pem
use formatting here
To format your text as code, enter three backticks on the first line, press Enter for a new line, paste your code, press Enter again for another new line, and lastly three more backticks. Here's an example:
```
code here
```
Watch the animated gif here: https://bit.ly/2GbfRJE
DO NOT repeat posts. Please edit previously posted message, here is how -> https://bit.ly/2qOOf1G
and include something above or beneath it
a little of whatever is there in your configuration.yaml
like this: ```binary_sensor: !include_dir_merge_list includes/binary_sensors
api:
http:
ssl_certificate: /ssl/fullchain.pem
ssl_key: /ssl/privkey.pem```
gotcha
I reset my pi instead of just using the restart in the UI. Now when I go to https://localip:8123
I get an BAD CERT ERROR
ok, now check using your duckdns address
can I use that address within my local network?
yes
i just realized my issue
oh my god
1 second
Do I need to forward my Public IP address?
well...what were you forwarding?
That'll make things difficult ๐
Any users using NGINX add-on with the proxy manager?
I am in the process of migrating platforms and would like to use it over the Caddy proxy I am using now.
Issue I am seeing is I am not able to define and use subdomains like in Caddy
hadomain.duckdns.org works but when trying otherdomain.hadomain.duckdns.org for other services does not seem to forward traffic.
@untold whale literally just swtiched to NGINX Proxy Manager
it works for me using FQDN / subdomains
did you setup your services on other ports and confirm they work ... IP:PORT (eg) 192.168.86.200:4000
if that works...then you should be able to add a New Proxy Host
Domain Name : subdomain.domain.com
Scheme : Http
Forward Hostname IP : 192.168.86.200
Forward Port : 4000
Websockets Support : On
the proxy manager is so user friendly
Is the problem not that NUGGET wants to use sub-subdomains? Does nginx proxy manager recognise the difference?
DNS only resolves a URL to an IP. In this case, they should both be pointing to the same IP address, so that's not the issue.
its the port I thought
The problem is the routing (or not, in this case) of the request to a port based on the FQDN.
is this a duckdns issue?
But to know that... we need more information from NUGGET, who isn't here.
Unlikely to be anything to do with DuckDNS.
like I said...I know it works using DYNU...because it works
I have sub1.domain.dynu.net
sub1 points to IP : 4000
and sub2 points to IP :3000
I was able to get it going
subdomains are now working
what was a little confusing is that I thought was just a manager for the NGINX add-on and not a full on proxy.
is anybody using the access list function to add auth to sites that do not have native auth?
I'm sure people are. What's your actual question though, so people can help?
what is the syntax. There is no information on how or what goes into the right field
within the access tab.
I believe you're just specifying IP addresses. I haven't used it but it looks like it's a UI for this part of the nginx config: http://nginx.org/en/docs/http/ngx_http_access_module.html#allow
Ok, will give it a try. Thanks
While the addon itself is great, the docs are a little... lacking, especially if you're not already great with nginx. You could always raise a PR to add more detail ๐
yes @untold whale
I used it too
create the GROUP. Then add user/password. Then go back to your Proxy Hosts, and change the access from Public to your New GROUP.
How do I enable an external port for SSH? It keeps refusing the connection.
Thank you @obtuse ginkgo @sly kindle
Hi, I am trying to install motionEye on hassio but whenver i click start and web ui it says 502 bad gateway.
It seems to be crashing. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Is this just a bug or am I missing something here.
It says the child process crashed in the log
Nevermind^
apparently its not worth the time trying to run it on a pi first gen
no
Are there any addons that can add my old dvr cctv cameras to home assistant
I was only able to find motionEye. I do not need motion tracking or anything
Just simply want to pull the live stream onto the home assistant dashboard
Does someone mind giving me a hand with mqtt? I just can't seem to get this to work.
I'm told to put connection dte
address <energybridge_ip>:2883 remote_username admin remote_password trinity try_private false start_type automatic topic # both 0
into the mosquitto.conf but when I do and restart topic changes to null
Hi Team, maybe somebody has good experience with scripting dependencies for custom add-on? I've created a topic on the forum but maybe here it will be easier to get some help - I'm trying to configure nginx and MariaDb for my custom add-on, I've started with nginx without SSL but have no idea why it is not working as I was following the existing example... Would really appreciate if somebody can take a look at this https://community.home-assistant.io/t/need-help-with-adding-docker-for-the-add-on/201381 and let me know what might be wrong and how to get started....
Just went to use TasmoAdmin and it is asking for a password. I'm sure that it has never done that before and I cannot see anywhere to setup a password for it. Anyone got any ideas?
What's the best way to set the --shm-size option of an addon. It's not a build option so it doesn't go in args of build.json.
Hello I am trying to do an addons that will only run a script. I was playing with Hello World!! add-on but that one does not work either. can you guys point me to the right direction?
Hi all, how are you? :)
I've got an issue.. I'm running Home Assistant (aka Hassio) on a VM, got the Adguard add-on installed, all is working well, tho one issue;
When I look in the "clients settings", the only "clients" that he sees are "inside containers" , from a different network than my local network..
In the DHCP server page, I see that it has 3 different Interfaces that I can choose from, I'm guessing that a part of the problem..
Any ideas? :)
