I have an entities card that displays the kWh used by a device. I'm trying to figure out a way to display the cost on the same card. I don't know of a way to use a template to do the math to display (e.g., cost = kWh * rate_per_kWh) on that card. Is this possible, or is a separate card type, or a variable using something like the Custom Component Generic Variable to create a new entity, the only way? Can someone point me in the right direction, please?

i have 3 cards, the one in the middle is a climate (ac) and this card in the middle of other 2 is a conditional card, it will appear only in the summer, now for testing proposes i've changed season.season to winter and idd the card disappears like it should do, the problem is i remain with a space that displays nothing between the other 2 cards, how can i fix it? this happens to you ?

Hi! Who knows what the easiest way is to reduce the font size of all cards for a specific dashboard? I'm casting my dashboard to the Nest Hub, but it's not fitting very nicely. When I could reduce the font size it should fit. I've tried adding a CSS file and setting the font-size , but it seems I'm not able to override it, even with !important it's getting ignored.

Hello...I am having some issues with Lovelace and adding cards. When trying to add a new card, the interface freezes for 2-5 mins before I can scroll or select anyhting. I have searched the HA forums as well as Google and found only a couple of threads that mention this. This one: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/lovelace-ui-add-card-panel-freeze-unresponsive-for-long-time/195483/5 points to a sensor that was updating every second as the cause. As far as I can tell, I do not have anything like this but I am wondering if there are any logs that I can check to help track down the culprit.
Also wanted to mention that I am running HA in a VM with plenty of CPU and RAM so I know this is not the issue

Help needed please. I’ve recently updated to 0.114.3 and since 0.114.2 I’ve been unable to use any Lovelace toggles and some of the buttons. The IOS app just reloads the whole page and the pc browser (Firefox) gives some weird html error. I don’t really know what to google for, so trying here too.

Can anyone lend a hand in configuring a Glance Card? Currently, I have it all set up so it shows the state of a machine, and the % of CPU, RAM, and Disk. Now I want to add color to it so 0-50% is Green, 50%-70% is Yellow, 70%-80% is Orange, and 90%+ is Red.

Im using traefic reverse proxy, to access my instance, if I connect using my local IP on the IPS app it works fine, however if I use my reverse proxy on the app it does not work.

On my mobile phone they are just one under the other - now that's fine...
but they're in a strange order on the PC and it's hard to tell what order they are going to appear in

The order on your phone is the "correct" order

Hello, I use the bar-card to create some bar cards! Most of the changes are done with card-mod, and some examples are provided in the github repo! I also use the config-template-card to make the graphs more dynamic to my use case, all works but the style modifications to the bar-card , I assume this is related to being inside the config-template-card! Any advice to do this and use the styles provided in the github repo? Should I apply the style to the config-template-card and try to get to the bar-card elements by the shadow tree, or apply the styles to the bar-card that is inside the config-template-card? Thank you

Auth Provider? It's a local server, mate. I think I might have just answered my own question though. Thanks for being patient with me.
I had created the existing users long before there was a "Users" configuration so I never set a User Name or Password for them. The version upgrade just inherited whatever was there, but it never gave me a means to edit any of it.

Hey - I'm using (trying to use!) this Dual gauge card (https://github.com/custom-cards/dual-gauge-card) - it's installed via HACS, and when I use the config UI to add it, it's fine. But when I switch to using yaml config for my UI control, it errors with "Custom element doesn't exist: dual-gauge-card." - I've added the resource to the ui-lovelace.yml file as:

Hi all, I have created a new plugin for showing solar powered house energy flow. I'm now facing the problem, that in the ios app after it's become inactive/reloads my method to recalculate the sizes and show the card correctly is not being called. It might suffice to react to the "ios.become_active" event, but I'm not sure how to subscribe only using javascript. This might be even the wrong event, but I don't even get that subscription going, at least not with ".addEventListener(" method. (https://github.com/reptilex/tesla-style-solar-power-card) Probably there is more wrong 😄
So the question is, what event do I have to listen to, to resize my card elements on ios app reload?

see with an entities card, you have 10 entites inside 1 card. Where the media-control is a single entity to a single card.
The memory consumption will be the same regardless of which card you use
even if you had the entity-filter working the way you wanted, you'd still have listeners for each entity

I have a question about permissions.
I want to install the Home Assistant IOS app on my kids iphones just to track them and use automation whenever they arrive at a given location.
However, when i install the app they can access everything.
Now i played around with Custom Header, created a new tab Welcome with nothing in it and set it to kiosk mode.
It works but…
When i do a force touch on the IOS app i see the scenes widgets and they are able to change the lights…
Is there a way to accomplish what i want?

A sort of conditional media player: IF I'm playing Spotify on Sonos, show the Sonos player with a like option, which interfaces with the Spotify API for the current track only when the Sonos track matches on Spotify. ELSE show Spotify with the like option

I personally like the sensor card, much cleaner looking than History (especially if at some point the entity becomes unavailable). It'd be nice to overlay different sensors with different colours as well.

How can I add a custom entry there that loads a webpage in the main window? Maybe if you change the unit_of_measurement to 1? You'll lose the degF/degC unit symbol after the number, but it shouldn't convert.

Hey folks. I just installed a nodemcu to control my two garage door openers and it also includes a sensor for each door to tell if it's open or not. It uses two switches for the relays, one for each door, and two binary sensors for the door sensors, obviously one for each door.
In HA, all four of these show up as separate entities. I'm looking to create a button for each door that also display the garage door icon of an open or closed door based the value of the binary sensors.
How would I go about that in lovelace?
Edit: I figured it out. Have the button use the sensor entity then on press, call the switch toggle for the relay entity.

Does the Lovelace conditional card actually work? If so I am doing something wrong here! I set the conditional to be visible when a sensor is in the 'On' state. I am displaying that sensor in another card and it definitely says on but the card I setup to be conditional does not show. If I go into edit then I can see the content in the card. Feels like it is ignoring the condition but I do not know why 😦

If you're unsure about the real values, check the entity in

That explains it. Ta Mono I had bee trying to figure out where to see the actual value. Hadn't put together it was just a matter of scrolling down the list of the States. I thought I had to put the Entity in the top to see it then there was not get states only set. Figured it out now, thank you.

I have a history graph card that has an incorrect unit of measure that I corrected on the sensor but the card did not reflect the change and stopped recording changes in value. I tried deleting the card and adding it again but the error was still there. How can I fix this?

@spark fern if you use custom cards, you can get this done by placing “empty cards” in a 9x9 grid using 3 horizontal stacks in a vertical stack. Place your card in the second row second column. Make sure the view is set to panel: true.

Hi guys. Had to reinstall HA (Raspi) as it got corrupted. Made a copy of all files (not a proper backup, just copied the files) but I am not able to find anywhere my lovelace dashboard code to use it as reference. I have used a few Mini Graph Cards. Is it saved somewhere or I've just lost it?

I used UI for most of the cards, but the Mini Graph cards were created manually. It wasn't easy to tune them to my needs, so it would be really helpful to be able to see the code

If you copied your whole config folder, your YAML for Mini Graph cards (since they were configured manually) will be saved wherever you saved the YAML for them. As for the UI configs, those are stored in the .storage folder under lovelace.XXXX . I am not sure if you are able to directly load this back in though.

I have a couple Tasmotized Sonoffs operating lights. I'd like to change the device class to light for these so they show as lights in the frontend. I can change the icon, but I wanted the nice functionality of the yellow/blue colors for on/off. I assumed I could just change the device class in customize but that didn't work (I assume the device class was simply: light). i.e. after the entity name line, I have "device_class: light". Is there a way to do this via device-class/customize.yaml or do I need to make a template?

For my Hue lights, I can click the light's icon in the lovelace UI and if the bulb is on, I get a color picker so that I can set the light's color/brightness/temperature. I want the same color picker for a template light, so that I can use it as an input to some other function. Any idea how to get this?
wow. Template lights do not support color picking without replacing some files in HA. Any suggestions for a wife friendly workaround, e.g. one that makes sense? I want to use a color picker to define some variables (e.g. r, g, b, brightness).

Hi, I have tried to search forums etc but I can't find the info I'm looking for, is there any way of detecting the state of integrations running? Such as deconz, duckdns etc, I noticed that today that deconz appeared as running in the integration view but it was not, so if this can be visualized and to setup notifications in the frontend it would be great, is there a way to do that

Nah it has been working flawless for a long time, I just noticed it not working today, so I had to go to the integrations page and switch it on even thou it was on, but I will see if I can work out a way for it

I don’t use Deconz and didn’t know it had an explicit on/off. That would be specific to it and not typical
I wish a user could enable and disable integrations from the UI, but that’s a different thing

So I’ve given you info out of order really - I try typing in the white box in the UI (circled in red in my last screenshot)...as soon as I type one letter (in my example it’s the letter “v”) the UI then errors and shows me what is in my first screenshot
With the error, if I format correctly as proper YAML and then hit “edit with UI” once again, it comes back to normal as expected
I can avoid the error altogether if I paste the information straight away - In this example I’d paste volume_level: and I’d be able to continue as normal

Ah, I see. Yup that is super broken. Check the frontend repo for an existing/closed issue. If there is not one there then you should open an issue

Hi all, noob question about the frontend/lovelace that I can't seem to figure out. How do I show apps in the HA sidebar for non-admin users? Specifically Grocy, which is directly available from the add-on store
I understand how to do panel_custom and panel_iframe, and have used it for TasmoAdmin, ZWaveGraph and a few others that didn't have the "show in sidebar" option. However, Grocy has the "show in sidebar" option but only I as an Admin user see it. My wife's non-admin account cannot see it in the sidebar

The reason ZWaveGraph and TasmoAdmin show up on hers is because they are added thru panel_custom and panel_iframe respectively. I guess that ignores Admin and non-Admin permissions

Does anyone have experience installing a Sonoff TX T2? I wanted to replace my current 2-gang fan lightswitch with a Sonoff TX T2 but it looks like the TX T2 won't cover the entire hole of my old 2-gang box. What do people do to fix that? Re-patch the drywall and then cut a new hole from scratch?

I have a button card in Overview linked to a scene, but when I click the button it shows:
"Failed to call services scene/turn_off. Service not found."
If I open Configuration > Scenes, and click "Play" for the same scene, it works without a problem.
Any thoughts on what to check to get the button card working again?

I made some changes. Like brightness_pct, but I tried a bunch of the color properties, but when I add them it doesn't let me save the automation item.

none does it let me save.

I am wondering if I have something wrong with my own installation, or if there is a bug in the version I am currently running. I am running 0.114.4 and I've noticed a change recently (I think only since the last upgrade) in that any entity which I have displayed on a card which should "chart", for example temp or windspeed has only a straight line, even though the entity may say that it was updated on that same chart as recently as a few seconds ago. This is not tied to any particular entity, but applies to all; on/off charts for lights and switches, open/closed for contact sensors, rain, temp, etc. Is anyone else having this problem?

I want to add the "default" view of all integrations to a lovelace ui. Is there a way that HA can automatically do this? Or would it all have to be done manually? like, essentially just have everything that can be shown with certain integrations, automatically show up and then modify from there?

Also, I think that if you open the raw editor, delete everything and save it will revert to the auto generated one.

I started having an odd error which is blowing out my logs...

Which then dumps a list of my entire entitys each time it happens (which is something like 200k+)
I haven't made any changes to anything recently, so I'm guessing some weird metadata in entity state/attributes somewhere is producing something that's getting interpreted as JSON syntax, but nothing looks super obvious to me, although it's a lot of entity data to sift through...
Anyone seen anything like this before, or have ideas of what might be a culprit? They seem to happen at 10 minute intervals, which quickly results in a rather gigantic log.

I am starting to have issues when adding cards in Lovelace where it is hanging. I have to wait for 30 to 45 seconds before I can do anything. I have tried moving to mariadb but this is still happening. I have tried checking the logs but do not see anything. Any advise?

@compact nexus Not exactly, I want it to trunc when it's the end of the width of the card. Sometimes that will be at 40 chars but sometimes 30 chars if on mobile etc.

Right I feel absolutely stupid but what am I doing wrong when trying to grab an icon from material design? In the icon override on my card i am adding mdi:FloorLamp but it just blanks the icon then 😦

Can anyone help me with the dual gauge custom add on can't seem to get it working have added as per instructions through HACS but when I try adding a type: custom:dual-gauge-card I get an error saying it can't be found, any help would be appreciated, also if any suggest some other gauges that I can try for my emon power monitor

if i'm running home assistant in "kiosk mode" can i run two separate instances of HA, one headless, one touchscreen? i would love to see an architecture diagram of a touchscreen wall dashboard using a raspi4 and touchscreen lcd.

@hybrid berry You fire a hass-more-info event that's caught by the home-assistant element. Here's an example: https://github.com/thomasloven/lovelace-card-tools/blob/master/src/more-info.js#L4-L11
And this: https://github.com/thomasloven/lovelace-card-tools/blob/6d5ae3800e4937aa424edc17108f43b964aecce7/src/event.js#L3-L16. Ignore all the if(entity) stuff at the bottom. Just set entity to this in your card and it will bubble to the right place.
So basically: javascript ev = new Event("hass-more-info", {bubbles: true, composed: true}); ev.detail = {entityId: 'thing.your_entity'}; this.dispatchEvent(ev)

Did any of you saw this problem already? I want to add a mini-media-player, I choosed background Playstation picture, but as soon I save it it goes away, when im writing or refreshing the page it seen for a few seconds, but as soon I click save or wait a few seconds the picture goes away. https://imgur.com/a/iKTVCZh
