I have two scripts defined in yaml, one for turning on the TV and one for turning it off. when I add them to an "entities" card, one of them appears with an "execute" button next to it, while the other appears as a toggle switch. why is this, and how can I make them symmetrical?

Maybe there are extra steps you can perform on the app to clear out stale data: https://companion.home-assistant.io/docs/troubleshooting/faqs

And if all else fails, caches expire eventually. It's just annoying that, as the user, you're not in control of the expiry policies.

If you're on the WiFi, you're connecting via an internal IP address. If you're not, you're connecting via your domain or an external IP address. Your browser will see them both as different resources.

Looks like a system webview (& by extension - chrome) bug.

Clearing cache and storage for system webview then force stopping both it and the hass app and relaunching seems to fix it.

yo. fresh install. raspi 4 4gb. trying to get it to talk to smartthings. set up nabu casa. enabled smartthings webhook. restarted the box. trying to add smartthings and when before it would ask "is this the right webhook callback url?" now clicking smartthings in the add integration window just brings me back to the add integration window. was wondering if this was a known issue or there was any way to solve it.

Is there a decent way to make scenes more easily configurable from the front end. I am continplating on using scene.create but scenes created this way "dies" when you restart or reload scenes.

I would like to have three settings on my living room I can easily tweak and change as I go along without having to set them up everytime I restart my hassio.

The only guaranteed way to get past caches is to give the resource a different name so your browser treats it as a new asset. If it's for a custom card that you've defined in resources.yaml, add a random version number to the end.

In an ideal world, you're right. Caching would be something you could control. But that's not how browsers work and that's not within HA's scope to fix.

It's nothing to do with access rights. I can wget and curl the custom cards files outside my network as much as I like.

I’m trying to enable Themes and I have seen a couple different ways. One was to enable it under frontend: in the configuration file and then paste the them inside the config file. I have seen another configuration that will reference a themes.yaml file (include! Themes.yaml) and then another that would reference files in a folder. Which one is the right way? Honestly, I haven’t been able to get it to work either way. I just started using HA and I’m on version 4.11.

I have a Milight light that turns on (via RFLink) with the command yyyy;ON and brightness is set with zzxx:BRIGHT where XX is brightness (99 most bright). Spaces at the beginning of lines. In YAML, you should indent things by 2 spaces each time. Less will break things, more is a waste.

And the indentation is always relative to other things. If something is too far left/right compared to the things next to it, it changes the meaning.

I've seen people do it with their smokers so they can set a meat typeand it will define thresholds for notifications. what you described should be possible. i'm also sure there are alarm clock examples out there, or even custom components.

I don't know what you mean when you say 'default slider' for a light. You only see those toggles in entity lists. If you just make an button card, you get a simple button.

You can use custom cards if you prefer the way they look/act. Just letting you know that there's already an existing card that can achieve what you want.

You have to select the theme. Go to your profile (initials in the bottom left) and choose one.

Hi all. I've read through the forums and googled for an answer but couldn't find it. In my Lovelace UI, the text in the thermostat cards are cut off. I am using the default theme of HassIO/HassOS 4.11 with HA 0.113.1. I've tried resizing my browser and changing the browser zoom level, but it all scales and continues being cut off. Has anyone seen this before? (I'm happy to share a screen shot of what I'm seeing).

If you're on a desktop, you could try right clicking and inspecting that element to see what the browser thinks should be in that text field.

It'll give you a clue if the text is missing or just can't be shown for some other reason.

Basically, what I see visually in the center of the thermostat ring is 73.5 and then after that I see what looks like "°F" (but it's higher than the text of the temp reading and cut-off.. So I only see the bottom 2/3rd of the °F. The °F is there, just cut off like Marty McFly's head.

After comparing, the issue here is that the °F font size is way too big on firefox and as a result it gets cut off. The °F is much smaller on Chromium, so it fully visible.

Well it looks like it's maybe modifying <super>, and browsers aren't known for how they consistently apply CSS styles.

FF and Chrome are generally pretty good but there's something not quite right. I'd suggest reporting it in case it's something the UI guys can fix.

I can do panel:true with a vertical stack, but the problem is that my cards are conditional so if you do a vertical stack there is empty space of hidden cards that offsets each visible card

Hi, I would like to make some data analysis in Excel. So I did a "select * from states where entity_id = 'sensor.xxx_consumption;"

for example using mouse on the card, I can find a value of "101" at 22:22 but my select doesn't have a 101 in the state column at all

I am seeing an issue where I am unable to load any custom lovelace components from cloud access. They work fine on my home LAN. Any ideas? The resources do show up in the resource tab of dashboards, but the cards are the red error card saying type does not exist.

What file type are you using? Most of the icons in HA come from icon fonts and are usually SVGs, which are scalable.

Hi all...I'm trying to display the resulting value from the following value template in an Entity Card : {{ (state_attr('vacuum.xiaomi_vacuum_cleaner', 'cleaned_area') * 10.76391)|round(0) }} (cleaned_area is an attribute that's represented in square meters, which I'm converting to square feet and rounding to the nearest whole integer ).

Where in the visual editor for an Entity Card do I place this? Or is this something that needs to be coded in the Entity Card yaml?

Has anyone that has used the custom button card had any luck with bringing a template into the name of the card? I'm basically trying to include a temperature sensor's current temperature into the name of a card, e.g. "Kitchen - 74°". I have the template correct, but I just can't get the card to actually say the temperature, it just repeats the actual full text of the template instead.

I am using a structured dark background image and the text on the cards is white with the cards almost completly transparent... now the cards are fully white and I cannot get them transparent anymore... Anything I am missing? Did google und tried to find anything in the breaking changes of the last releases... 😦

I created a bunch of scripts with the UI editor earlier and all of them got IDs like '12412541241241' and an alias: below. Now when I made a script it got an ID that matches the alias. Was that a change in later versions?

I think someone recently changed that, yes. There was a difference between automations (which took the alias) and scripts (which didn't). Someone made them consistent.

That doesn't look like valid JavaScript to me and you've also got 'smart quotes' in there as if you've copy/pasted from somewhere.

Whatever's between the [[[]]] is going to be treated as a function, which must return a string.

Hi, I've noticed that when I call Google TTS from lovelace or /developer-tools/service (tts.google_say) and use special UTF-8 letters like š, č, ř, ž... my google home begins to say the letter as HTML escaped string. So instead of "Š" my Google home says "%C5%A1". Or spaces are escaped as "%20" so if I send "test test", my Google home says "test%20test". It works fine from automations tho. Can anybody else confirm this?

Not really. Your best option is to use panel: true and build the complete layout, including whatever you want in the badge area

Default behaviour is to try to fill a column before creating another.

Having some trouble with Users and visibility with Lovelace. The idea is I want to have a dashboard for my kids (and their rooms). I want to limit each kid to only see their room devices, otherwise you get them messing with each other. I can create a view and remove visibility for the users but it doesn't seem to actually take effect.

There is a little workaround though. You can enable or disable dashboard tabs for users. So disable everything but this one dashboard tab for that user.

It appears the default view on a dashboard is visible despite the config. I would assume this is a bug. If I create a default view with nothing on it then the users can't see the other tabs unless they have permission. It will work for now I think

Ah, so you are making a separate dashboard for each user? I have not tried that route, I just use Custom Header and hide all the tabs I want for specific people. I had this setup before multiple dashboards were a thing, and have not yet looked into how to do it with separate dashboards.

if the horiztonal-stack is part of a list of cards, then yes, it needs a leading -. Generally, if you're populating a section that starts card:, it's just looking for one card and doesn't expect a list. If it's cards:, it is looking for a list

Hey guys, so I'm using the official android app and it works great, but I'm trying to get the Lovelace Map card to work with the geocoded sensors and it's not working. Here's the code I currently have:

          - sensor.sm_g988u1_geocoded_location

This only shows an empty map without any icons or anything. But when I go to the sensor manually in the States section of the Lovelace UI, I perfectly see the place, street, etc - all that information.
Anybody know how to use the map card in the UI to show where the people are using the geocoded location from the official app?

HA GUI is moaning at me that Python 3.6 is deprecated. I've installed Python 3.8, but when I run update-alternatives to point at 3.8, HA wont restart. I update-alternatives back to Python 3.6 and it reboots fine.
How can I debug, please?

Not sure which install you're using? If you have system_health enabled you can check Configuration -> Info, or see the following.

Help please. I’m trying to get zigbee2mqtt network map working. I’ve installed from HACS and rebooted as per instructions. I’m getting 404 not found when accessing from the side bar. I suspect I’ve got the path wrong.
It’s installed in
Config/custom-components/zigbee2mqtt_networkmap
I’ve also found
Config/www/community/zigbee2mqtt_networkmap

What’s the correct path to put in config.yaml to access these folders?

I’ve tried various combinations and they all say 404 not found.

That's where you should've copied the files to if you followed the instructions for the component.

During setup it copies the files to the correct location so HA serves them from /local.
Instead of registering a view that allsow to serve the files directly from the integration directory

That file copy does I/O in the async loop, so at best it halts HA during startup, at worst it will block/break HA from starting

Lovelace is your dashboards. Lovelace isn't every single thing with a UI.

You're being shown a message via the UI to alert you to the fact there's a problem with your backend. How else would it alert you without you having to monitor your logs constantly?
