Also yes to prevent people posting code as an image . You can upload to imgur if you want

Post your issues in general and someone will help when they have time

@clear ferry Cake or I will call your ISP and limit your internet to 36kbs

Please use a code share site to share code or logs, for example:

Please don't use Pastebin, since it can randomly add spaces to the main view. Please also don't share text as images since it makes it harder for people to help you. Remember that others may have colour blindness, impaired vision, etc.

clear ferry
#

Y'all don't have 5g in Missouri?

forest edge
#

not in the country

#

heck only had 3G for the longest time but thankfully got 4G out there now

#

but 5G won't ever be out there, no way a company will invest putting that many transmitters in the stick to try and give people coverage

clear ferry
#

I live in farmland, we've had 4g since 2016

#

Got 5g in late 20

forest edge
#

yea but your "farmland" is like the size of a football field

clear ferry
#

At least three football Fields!

#

It's pretty rural

forest edge
#

heck 5G is only like what? 1k? 2k ft? I could maybe see them doing that for pocket suburbs in the sticks but when the next house is a half mile to a mile away there is noway lol

#

you need to add a distant meter indicator on that map picture

clear ferry
#

Just click the link rather

#

And you can peruse yourself

forest edge
#

ok so my farm is roughly the same size as Hvam, assuming that is a suburb not town right?

#

hard to judge but when i scale down both to 200ft they take up the same space in my browser. not perfectly accurate but still

clear ferry
#

Hvam is a county I guess

#

Whatever you call a place with it's own postcode

forest edge
#

now if there were that many houses on my farm I could see them putting in 5G but there is only one house surrounded by nothing but green lol

#

google maps should add in the ability to draw a box and show how many sqft or sqmiles etc that square is

#

that be cool

clear ferry
#

You can measure distance

#

Not sure about square milage

forest edge
#

how

clear ferry
#

Right click

#

Measure distance

forest edge
#

that is awesome

#

so when i measure the longest point to point on Hvam it shows 3,918.91 ft (1.19 km)

#

and on my farm it's 3,911.56 ft (1.19 km)

#

so it is pretty damn close lmao

umbral cliff
#

Mainly because 3G is dead, so 4G/5G takes up the 2G and 3G frequencies

forest edge
#

I believe 4G but 5G? you may wanna look into that

#

au has some pretty far out there spots lol

#

4G is like what? 10-15x the distance of 5G

umbral cliff
#

Currently mainly along highways or nearby. But still spreading out. They advance fast for no reason other than for the hell of it

umbral cliff
#

Gives the better range

forest edge
#

but at what cost in speed?

umbral cliff
#

USA is the only place currently with commercial usage of mmWave

forest edge
#

I thought the whole speed aspect was the short wave

umbral cliff
#

Have gotten 500-800 here and that’s on normal 3/4G frequencies using 5G

#

We don’t have mmWave here yet

forest edge
#

200 is not that much faster than 4G, technically here it's suppose to reach upwards of 150 but I assume that's under ideal conditions or maybe just not a cheap modem like mine

glacial knot
#

What frequenciees are mmWave?

umbral cliff
#

Over 5Ghz

umbral cliff
#

Same location now gets 800 or so with 5G

glacial knot
#

so only really relevant for outdoor campus net

umbral cliff
#

Or dense sports stadiums

#

Or cbds

glacial knot
#

cbds?

umbral cliff

Canine bondage dancing shows

#

Was my guess

glacial knot
#

I like atx's version more

umbral cliff
#

Think you meant to type that into porn hub atx

clear ferry
#

Oh sorry

forest edge
#

you should dunk your head in toilet water for even posting that image

clear ferry
#

Oh and we have had full fiber coverage since 2016 @forest edge

forest edge
#

your fiber is our broadband lol

glacial knot
#

Now I do wonder, do they run different MAC on higher frequencies? Otherwise that wouldn't help too much to support more devices
Unless they vastly increase the number of base stations as well. Which 💸

umbral cliff
clear ferry
forest edge
#

which is why we don't call it fiber

umbral cliff
clear ferry
#

Yeah sorry, we have symmetrical connections

#

Unlike the US with their 1200/2

umbral cliff
#

Not at distance anyway

forest edge
#

I don't think atx gets gigabit period

umbral cliff
#

He’s shown his gigabit speeds

late gate
#

I bet if telenor could decide we would not have symmetrical even on fiber @clear ferry

clear ferry
#

We do, but I only bother paying for 350/350

forest edge
#

it wasn't gigabit was it?

#

ah

#

see

umbral cliff
#

If australia can have gigabit then Norway could definitely have it

clear ferry
#

I had 600/600 but downgraded

late gate
#

I pay for 1000/1000 - 350 is too low

umbral cliff
late gate
#

I got a seedbox so I need it :p

forest edge
#

350/350 is doable via coper

clear ferry
#

It isn't implemented

#

So it doesn't matter

forest edge
#

well it is

umbral cliff
#

I only have 100/40 as that’s all we need. And we wanna save money. Would do 250 if it was like 250/100 or higher but shitty 250/40 lol

forest edge
#

while our services don't offer same upload speeds, copper is capable of doing gigabit because our connections are fiber to the pole and only copper to the home, worst case scenario here is more rural areas where it's fiber to the node and copper for a few miles after that lol

umbral cliff
#

Few miles would be crap

forest edge
#

thats rural tho

umbral cliff
#

Yeah still doesn’t mean they should be <12mbps

clear ferry
#

Nobody will invest in copper anyway

#

Oh wait

#

Murica will

finite atlas
#

so does germany

umbral cliff
forest edge
#

I would be happy if my farm had access to lined internet of any flavor with the exception of dsl

glacial knot
#

I hope that finally fucking ends. Telekom is starting to switch to fiber at least

finite atlas
#

god bless our 50/10 connection for 35€ a month

glacial knot
#

at least I got gbit/50Mbit

clear ferry
#

Disgusting

glacial knot
#

over Docsis =.=

umbral cliff
#

I pay US$80 for unlimited 100/40 lmao

glacial knot
#

yea, it sucks. I wish we didn't live in the internet 50s

forest edge
#

50mb upload with gig down? that's messed up

glacial knot
#

the fact that you have to mention the unlimited 😂

umbral cliff
forest edge
#

ours isn't that skewed lol

umbral cliff
#

It’s better than some

finite atlas
#

bufferbloat is what really kills our internet tho
+150ms on full download, +300ms on full upload

glacial knot
#

yea, vodafone having shit peering does more to the connection than docsis vs. vdsl

umbral cliff
forest edge
#

lol data caps

#

so glad that shit didn't fly here

clear ferry
#

Murica special

umbral cliff
#

It started in the USA

glacial knot
#

just ignore the weirdos that think datacaps are normal /shrug

umbral cliff
#

People still have them there

forest edge
#

our mobile is data throttled but not capped

finite atlas
#

yet all major phone service providers have data caps and no one complains

umbral cliff
forest edge
#

it never actually started in the US.. they tried but it's been shot down everytime

umbral cliff
glacial knot
umbral cliff
#

Seems like there’s a lot

finite atlas
#

here its datacap then throtteled to 64 kbit/s

glacial knot
#

and they don't technically have caps, as that would be illegal. It's just that websites suck hard and break on edge speeds =.=

umbral cliff
#

Edge??

finite atlas
umbral cliff
#

The fuck is that still around for

glacial knot
#

I have no idea how many GB I got. And I don't pay for it myself

umbral cliff
#

Australia has killed 2G years ago, 3G in the next 3-5 years for the 2 major carriers

forest edge
#

not sure about at&t tho

umbral cliff
forest edge
#

reask them if it actually took hold cause I have read nothing but them trying to implement it but it being shot down

glacial knot
# umbral cliff The fuck is that still around for

it isn't. But the way our flatrates work is that it's flat rate for edge speeds. And only up to $cap with higher speeds
Mostly because regulators stepped in at some point and forced no caps when advertised as flatrate. (though this was left open)

They just never cared to update the lower band for the throttling. While it was annoying 10 years ago, it's just unusable these days on the throttled speeds

forest edge
#

american's won't fight for national healthcare but you restrict our porn access and there will be hell to pay

umbral cliff
glacial knot
#

I wouldn't mind 1.5Mb/s tbh.

umbral cliff
#

But a vast downgrade from 50-450 I get on average

glacial knot
#

as long as discord doesn't fail. Since that is surprisingly bad with flaky or slow connections for being a simple IM

umbral cliff
#

The one good thing australia (in computing) has is a high quality mobile network infrastructure

forest edge
#

au is starting to sound more and more like our 1980's lol

umbral cliff
#

Except we are rolling out fibre

#

And it’s gov owned rather than individual companies rolling it out

#

So you can go with whatever provider you want

forest edge
#

we had fiber ran to node for like 50 some odd years, then fiber ran to pole (in towns/cities) for like 30 years

umbral cliff
#

What about fibre to the home. Which is what we’re rolling out properly now

#

(And what some properties already have. Like the one I’m in)

forest edge
#

but the thing about usa is.. it can be like that for some places but other places could still be using two cups joined with string

umbral cliff
#

Whilst here it’s going to be standardised. As it’s gov built infrastructure not private company (as in with the USA)

forest edge
#

fiber to home came out when google fiber did.. for residential anyways

#

google fiber changed everything here

umbral cliff
#

So… private company

forest edge
#

xfinity is fiber to home etc

#

fios etc etc

#

yea all private companies

umbral cliff
#

No wonder people in the USA love musk skynet shit. You’re already used to being controlled by a private company

forest edge
#

but with that said, there are some cities here where they built thier own infrastructure where the city owns every aspect of it

clear ferry
glacial knot
#

Americans for some reason only ever think that governments can be evil. And will accept anything and everything done by corporations /shrug

forest edge
#

maryland for example has one of those cities/towns

clear ferry
#

Imagine being told to cooperate and share lines

umbral cliff
#

Why not just let the federal government build it (or at least own it)

glacial knot
umbral cliff
#

Then you won’t need to worry about this crap

#

Major infrastructure should be owned by the gov

forest edge
forest edge
umbral cliff
#

The us has the money to do it

#

They can outsource the building

#

Make AT&T or Verizon or whoever build it

#

Then the gov owns it and sells it on

forest edge
#

you and these fantasies lol

umbral cliff
#

You mean what’s happening here?

forest edge
#

when your just starting into something.. concept like those is possible.. not when infrastructure has already been in place since it's invention

umbral cliff
#

Except we did it

#

It cost a lot

#

We fucked uo

#

It’s being fixed

clear ferry
#

You didn't have infrastructure before you did this @umbral cliff

#

Just admit it

umbral cliff
#

Gov bought it all

forest edge
#

your also paying out the wazoo

umbral cliff
#

You don’t complain when govs build or upgrade roads

#

Why not with another major infrastructure project

forest edge
#

your country is not in as much debt as ours either

umbral cliff
#

So? Long term infrastructure is good investment

#

Especially when the gov can make money on it

forest edge
#

but it's not needed

#

it's not critical

#

what we have works

#

sure we bitch.. but then so do you lol

umbral cliff
#

Yeah we bitch until it’s good

#

I don’t bitch about my internet as it works great for what I need

forest edge
#

so for the rest of your life then

umbral cliff
#

Sure I could do with faster upload

#

But it’s guaranteed gigabit down

#

Through fibre to the home

forest edge
#

didn't you say you were data capped?

umbral cliff
#

No?

forest edge
#

oh i thought you said that above

umbral cliff
#

I said my isp offers discounts if I chose a 500gb data cap, I use more so I don’t take it up (but if my grandma was with my isp she would take it for example)

#

All ISPs here offer unlimited data

#

Some offer caps as an option if you want

forest edge
#

see there is that wazoo again

umbral cliff
#

What? Offering a cap to save 10-20 a month?

#

Useful for people on a budget

forest edge
#

all plans with the exception of mobile here are unlimited

umbral cliff
#

Or people who don’t need it

umbral cliff
forest edge
#

yea but I question it's accuracy lol

umbral cliff
#

I know people with caps in the USA. It’s correct

forest edge
#

another thing you gotta be careful about when it comes to US news.. something might just trialed in a single zip code and nowhere else lol

glacial knot
forest edge
#

we have xfinity/at&t here and i never heard anyone mention data caps but since i don't have it nor ever had it i dunno

forest edge
umbral cliff
umbral cliff
#

Why? There’s no need to restrict based on zip code if it’s the same system in the end

#

Unless the isp is being shitty

glacial knot
#

it's american companies

umbral cliff
#

True

forest edge
#

with the exception of desert areas our rural/in the sticks areas have pockets of people.. those people currently like myself have to deal with mobile data because there is noway anyone is going to feed miles and miles of lime to service a handful of people

#

those expenses just do not make sense

#

au isn't layed out the same

#

we have a whole lot of rural areas in that catagory all over

umbral cliff
forest edge
#

my farm should have cable ran to it, but still dosen't cause they don't view the cost of the line being worth the amount of people who would be using it and my farm is only a few miles from the city limits lol

umbral cliff
#

Outside of cities it’s nothing

glacial knot
#

I'm always amused when Americans try to claim that things wouldn't work. And it's things we've been doing for ages

forest edge
#

see here outside cities it's not nothing here

umbral cliff
forest edge
#

stop living ina fantasy

umbral cliff
#

So you would be fine with no road to you because it ‘doesn’t make financial sense’?

forest edge
#

you brag about making something work yet what you got is worse than what we currently have

umbral cliff
#

Yeah which is why we’re improving to be better than you

forest edge
#

there are several places here where there is no paved roads lol

umbral cliff
#

Yeah but there’s still a path

glacial knot
umbral cliff
#

There’s still a route

forest edge
#

lol path

#

as I said, what we have currently works.. hell our speeds on average is faster and it costs us less.. what more do you want? lol

umbral cliff
#

All major infrastructure (roads, electricity, water, gas, internet, public transport) should be government owned, and should be looked at as investments not as money making exercises or capitalism hell

forest edge
#

competition does have it's benefits lol

#

now if we were talking healthcare i would agree with you

#

but when it comes to amenities thats a whole diffrent ball game

umbral cliff
forest edge
#

whats the diffrence?

glacial knot
umbral cliff
#

Infrastructure is often ignored by companies as it’s not worth upgrading, such as shitty electricity grids

glacial knot
#

you mean, californian fire hazzards?

forest edge
#

currently our govment is trying to solve the gap in what companies cover

#

so again, there is no diffrence

umbral cliff
umbral cliff
forest edge
#

your trying to justify the cost of running line to the single man on top of Everest and guarantee quality service

#

we're already trillions in debt

#

trade us debt and we'll do what you want

umbral cliff
umbral cliff
#

And internet is now on par with roads/ public transport/ electricity/ water/ gas as a needed service

glacial knot
#

fire caused by fire? o.0

#

oh, caused the fire. not by fire =.=

umbral cliff
#

Yeah line dropped. Sparked. Lit very very dry brush

forest edge
#

it sucks

umbral cliff
forest edge
#

we even have that starlink but no clue what the restrictiosn on that is

umbral cliff
umbral cliff
forest edge
#

point is.. what we have works

#

lol

umbral cliff
#

Like a moped would work to drive cross country. Bloody horrible though

forest edge
#

now covid shined some light on problem areas that the goverment is trying to "fix"

#

so maybe with some luck things will get better

#

but all things considered we have access nation wide already in some form or another.. just the issue is speed

#

4G is shit compared to broadband.. satellite may well be called norwegian fiber

umbral cliff
# forest edge but all things considered we have access nation wide already in some form or ano...
#

(Since too slow may as well be useless nowadays)

umbral cliff
glacial knot
#

main issue with the various wireless stuff is latency and consistency

#

raw throughput isn't all there is to internet

umbral cliff
#

For 4G latency is still pretty decent

#

On speed tests I get <50

glacial knot
#

TCP hates loss, as it always thinks buffers are full. Doesn't really have provisions for lossy connections

#

and I need to check, but IIRC it also really hates jitter. So can't even bundle stuff :/

umbral cliff
#

You can definitely do tcp at higher than 100 ping

#

I’ve had to use websites overseas a decade ago from australia

forest edge
#

broadband aka fiber

umbral cliff
glacial knot
#

oh it works. It just tanks throughput to be way less than wire speed

forest edge
#

running fiber to the everst is a slow process with only one person living there

#

broadband to us is a general term for "high speed residential"

#

it's been the name we used for eons

#

and still use it today

#

it dosen't refer to anything specific.. just the "typical" thing we use

umbral cliff
#

Barely high speed

forest edge
#

and the typical internet provided to most Americans is fiber to pole/node and that is what rural areas lack

#

which the gov is trying to fix

umbral cliff
umbral cliff
#

So it may as well not exist

glacial knot
#

do you know if that tests over UDP or TCP?

#

and what your technical wire speed is on that connection?

forest edge
#

it's been like many years since 25dn was a thing

umbral cliff
forest edge
#

but either way 30ishdn is fast enough for rural

umbral cliff
#

Judging from that, it hasn’t been updated yet

umbral cliff
umbral cliff
glacial knot
forest edge
#

i get 127dn on 4g in my concrete basement.. but i'm in the city so that is all the diffrence in the world

#

if i take my phone to my farm and run the same test it will likely only be around 50ish lol

forest edge
umbral cliff
umbral cliff
umbral cliff
forest edge
#

i still consider 30ish broadband hell evenm if the up is only 15-20 that is plenty

#

the whole goal of the gov is trying to supply efficient speeds for school type work

umbral cliff
#

And the fcc says that 25 and below isn’t broadband. Ergo there’s a lot who are running slower

forest edge
#

when you gotta drive and hour or more before reaching any type of populated area the 4g speeds are so nurtured kids can't do online schooling lol

#

assuming you can even get 4g.. some don't.. and satellite speeds are even worse

restive vapor
#

Did a test on my fibre

#

2.3% lost

#

Why?

forest edge
#

which is astounding to me.. you would think they would have figured out how to improve sat speeds by now

#

i love that LG feels the need to send me emails of useless crap like this

#

that tells me nothing.. where is the info about water usage and power usage

#

who gives a shit what mode i use the most

restive vapor
forest edge
#

it is

#

that don't tell me anything diffrent lol

#

other than I can see when it's running and make it run etc

restive vapor
forest edge
#

no the LG integration doesn't have that

#

at least not for dishwasher, fridges or washer and dryers

restive vapor
#

Can help here

forest edge
#

I shouldn't have too LG collects that data already they just don't send it to me. i know this cause I've seen my fridge have it when I had an issue with it one time

umbral cliff
forest edge
#

yea

#

they use it to detect "problems" but instead of sending me the data they just say "it's working normally"

umbral cliff

The USA is 110v

forest edge

isn't that the same as the UK plug?

umbral cliff
#

UK is your best bet

#

Else an adaptor with something sold with a UK plug is best

#

Plug a 110v device into a 240v socket and you’ll have a nice boom

forest edge
#

think adapaters auto buck it down

#

well us ones do

umbral cliff
#

They don’t. Adaptors are dumb

#

Transformers convert

#

If you take apart an adaptor you’ll find it literally just connects the pins (it’s why they’re cheap)

forest edge
#

well they call them converters

#

but all the ones showing up on amazon buck it down

umbral cliff
#

Most laptop/ phone power supplies can support 100-240v

umbral cliff
forest edge
umbral cliff

Yeah those don’t convert voltage

restive vapor

umbral cliff

These are transformers

Thank being an ex colony for that

forest edge
restive vapor
#

Aha
Rm361.14 for a 3d printer
Not bad?

umbral cliff

although with that said.. pretty sure the ender would handle the conversion on it's own

umbral cliff

You would hope

#

pretty sure they sell it with an optional uk plug that just replaces the lead coming off the power supply

that ender3 s1 is like the top end of the enders that's why it's 400 bucks
