Just going to chime in, if you do decide to go ZFS, it is a bit "special" in that you shouldn't do it on hardware raid cards, you cannot use SMR hard drives etc. If you do it it right, it will look after you, if you do it wrong it will be a dumpster fire

stuck python
#

im sorry Michelle, that makes no sense to me haha

Anything else isn't poe

orchid rose
#

Yeah, I'm just thinking if there are some that have integrated converter. Would make the setup much more neat

clear ferry
#

Most Poe stuff does the step down inside the device

#

So that is probably the best place to do it

orchid rose
#

It's a bit annoying with all the losses involved with converting back and forth between voltages, but for longer runs it's rather necessary

#

But I guess I might as well just get a 12V->48V converter and run the PoE switch from that. Would end up with less conversions anyway. Just not very pretty 😦

You can do DC-DC poe injectors. Although not clear about your use case

orchid rose

12V off the grid system so trying to save as much power everywhere as I can

Buy something CC2652 based. This list is a good one, both Tube and Electrolama have been proven to have excellent customer service. The current generation of EZSP sticks (see here for some) are also a good choice for ZHA.

Anything CC2530 or CC2531 based should be avoided - they're old, slow, and only suitable for a dozen or so devices. The Sonoff ZBbridge isn't advised since it uses WiFi (built in interference causing stability/reliability issues), and the HUSBZB-1 uses an older chipset so should be avoided.

Finally, the ConBee range are fine with deCONZ, but experience with ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT appears to be mixed.
