Host (color coded), current directory, last command status, current branch and it's status (color).

deft pewter
#

Simple. I like it.

low harness
#

The color of the host is based on the first six characters of the md5 hash of the hostname, so I don't have to worry about that for portability either.

For full disclosure. I used to use powerline. But I got better.

Wow. That was like 10 years ago. Time flies.

Speaking of updates ruining stuff. Suddenly my PC goes to sleep??

#

Microsoft seriously need to learn to respect some personal boundaries.

deft pewter

Aye. Microsoft and their forced updates are annoying. Especially so when they change fundamental behaviours.

Ha Ha, There are answers if you dont like some attribute of your OS ๐Ÿ™‚

#

Most stuff is built for Windows. It's pretty hard to avoid.

#

I'd be happy to develop on Mac/Linux but I wouldn't want them as my daily driver.

noble pivot
#

Never had such a bad update as the last one from Apple though, caused hardware damage !! To be fair they took it in for repair and sent in back with new parts (even a new screen which was tatty but working fine and not part of what they broke).

#

Wouldnt want Window as a "daily driver", too much update crap ๐Ÿ™‚

#

Oh, and I dont like windows.

deft pewter

That's my point... if it weren't for the updates, it'd be fine.

noble pivot

clear ferry
#

atom has horrible performance too

#

most models are at par with raspberry pis

#

noble pivot
#

Worse that pi ?

lapis cipher
#

i keep reading "as long as its not atom" and that's for ha-part yes but in general, would think heavy math would be required for doing anything more than routing few packets from place to another (say, qos)

clear ferry
#

The performance of a single-core Atom is about half that of a Pentium M of the same clock rate. For example, the Atom N270 (1.60 GHz) found in many netbooks such as the Eee PC can deliver around 3300 MIPS and 2.1 GFLOPS in standard benchmarks,[35] compared to 7400 MIPS and 3.9 GFLOPS for the similarly clocked (1.73 GHz) Pentium M 740.

lapis cipher
#

maybe i am asking stupid things but i am a stupid person.. And given the tasks a router / firewall can have to me calls for cpu

#

just in comparison, fw would be a highly active device while ha just sticks around and reacts to random mqtt messages or presses of a switch..

clear ferry
#

eh, depends on what you do

#

and on the architecture

lapis cipher
#

i suppose what i was wondering was "why a cjeaรฅ atom box would make a great firewall platform" ๐Ÿ™‚

#

i have no pun intended anywhere along the line, being stupid here ๐Ÿ™‚

#

i take recommendations from credible people seriously

clear ferry
#

my opnsense box is running on a j1900 celeron CPU, that system has an average load of 0.28 routing between my 4 internal vlans, with a 500\500 connection, plus hosting a few websites and sftp sites, and using wireguard with three clients

#

it will always be better to have more performance than you need

#

than just enough

#

or not enough

#

and stuff that can't be offloaded to CPU instruction sets will have to processed as regular clock cycles

#

so depends on what instruction sets are avaliable

lapis cipher
#

that does support aes-ni which is nice

I'll let you know if I get a clot (or maybee I wont). Figure it will be fine!

deft pewter
#

The whole point of a vaccine is that it's better than the alternative - and that's held true.

clear ferry
#

They are doing extensive studies here still

#

They might reallow it

deft pewter
#

Sure, do studies. But the evidence everyone's released so far doesn't suggest there's any significant risk.

#

Isn't it something like 7 in a million have died from it? That's better than the 1 in 100 that die without the vaccine...

clear ferry
#

The Norwegian research is the whole reason ema has included blood clot as a possible side effect ๐Ÿคฃ

deft pewter
#

Are they more likely in women too? I'm sure that's completely unrelated to the fact that many of them will be on birth control at the same time, which already increases chances of clotting ๐Ÿคฏ

clear ferry
#

Afaik they are yes

#

A high percentage of females dropped birth control here a decade back due to the clot research

#

Some went for the p-stick, most I know just dropped it allover

#

And just didn't do rabbit

If i dont get it, how will i pass it on?

deft pewter

That's not how it works.

clear ferry

You can still carry it

crisp sapphire
#

no, i asked the gov

#

And looked at the data

deft pewter
#

Half the reason this spreads so quickly is that you're an asymptomatic carrier for as long as two weeks.

clear ferry
#

Swedish government, very good data ACOSP_ExcusemeWtf

crisp sapphire
#

if you've had it twice, your basically immune for ~6 months

deft pewter
#

The symptoms aren't the disease, they're your body fighting the disease.

#

If catching it makes you immune, how on earth did you get it twice?

#

๐Ÿคฏ

clear ferry

You can still carry it with antibodies wtf

crisp sapphire

Bruh the reply feature is there for a reason. And im gonna use it.

deft pewter
#

having antibodies does not mean you're not spreading it. It just means your body fights off the infection before you're seriously ill.

@crisp sapphire When using Discord's new Reply feature it defaults to pinging the person you reply to, which can get frustrating for the target. Click @ ON to @ OFF to stop this - on the right side of the compose bar.

What data? You're coming up with 'facts' that the rest of us haven't heard and you're interpreting them rather loosely too.

crisp sapphire
deft pewter

You're still spreading. That's a basic fact of epidemiology ๐Ÿ˜‚

Ok, we're well into the fake news world here. I'm going to point to the channel topic and Code of Conduct and "request" that folks drop it now

deft pewter

So, nice weather we're having, huh?

I should plant some of these bulbs I picked up earlier in the week before it turns.

I don't have very green fingers, so I'm hoping I can actually cultivate these. Most of the time, stuff sprouts and dies ๐Ÿ˜„

clever mortar
noble pivot

My "skill" in the garden is more focused arround destruction that cultivation ๐Ÿ™‚

deft pewter

Are we talking hosepipe, water cannon or waterboarding, atx?

clever mortar

All of the above?

deft pewter
#

Almost done painting the bedroom. Already planted some shrubs and tidied up the borders. Just a few more bulbs to bury.

noble pivot
#

I upgraded the wife to painter and decorator last year since I was too busey re-wiring and other "big" stuff. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hate painting.

deft pewter
#

I used to. It's been quite therapeutic this time. Took the week off at short notice because I've been getting fed up at work - this has been a nice change of pace.

noble pivot
#

I hear that, nice to step away from the keyboard now and then.

deft pewter
#

Yup. Especially as a dev, I do nothing but stare at the screen all day. Then when I'm done, I'll either work on personal projects or play games... so I stare at the screen all night ๐Ÿ˜‚

noble pivot
#

SNAP (though not a dev most of the time)

deft pewter
#

Most of the time?

noble pivot

I do very small bits of dev work here and there (mostly to glue things together, data collection etc)

clear ferry

I'm aerating my lawn

#

Too much moss

deft pewter
#

Where's the lawn? I only see moss ๐Ÿ˜‚

#

Is that normal in the hinterlands?

noble pivot
#

We just did that, its looking very bare now. Waiting for the seed to grow but the unexpected snow was not helpfull.

glacial knot
#

Looks like a marsh

deft pewter
#

I'm still trying to mend it in the shaded and high traffic areas... put down a ton of extra seed and feed this week.

noble pivot
#

Think thats prob where we are at now, its only this year the lawn got high enough on the list of jobs (been here 3 years, slowly dragging the place out of 1970).

deft pewter
#

That bad, huh? ๐Ÿ˜„ We're considering another move (from a semi to a detached) and have been watching the market. There's some really nice older houses we've liked but we know they'd be a lot of work to modernise.

glacial knot
deft pewter
#

It's a small garden. That'd be overkill ๐Ÿ˜„

#

If I wanted a quick solution, I'd just lay new turf. I'm okay with it taking a while.

glacial knot
#

it's easier for me to get access to those, than large garden tools ๐Ÿ˜„

noble pivot
#

The plus with a "project" is you can rally do the things you want. I didn't really want a project but the location was very nice and I looked at the positives.

clear ferry
#

I'm gonna cover it with seeds afterwards

hushed basalt
#

I need a lawn mower

I want an EGO mower but I'm not sure if I can justify the expense

I'd rather spend that money mailing coal to atx

I swear, my lawn is 90% moss

It was time to do this
