This is more of a Linux thing than a HA thing. The Linux "shutdown" command, by default, schedules the shutdown process to being a full minute in the future.
If I had to guess as to why, I'd say it's probably to give you time to cancel the operation

I'd really love to see a 48:9 or 48:10 monitor that can be addressed as either one large screen, or three individual 16:9 or 16:10 screens

Go with 6 cheap 16:9 screens, I did that and productivity is really nice with the possible compartmentalization

16:10 was super nice back when it was popular. You got both the width of 16:9 resolutions, and the height of 4:3 resolutions
1920x1200 instead of 1920x1080.
2560x1600 instead of 2560x1440.
And you could always run those 16:9 resolutions if you wanted, 1:1
