Early on in my home automation journey I saw a reddit post with a guy who said "how can I get my wife and kids to stop using the switches and instead ask Alexa to turn on the lights? they do if you set them up to control that light directly through the lutron app

#

in that case they speak directly to the switch. If you don't have them assigned to a switch then they talk to your hub, which can relay that to Home Assistant. BUT, the hub won't broadcast a radio signal to your light switches until the Pico is done broadcasting, which is about two seconds

trust me that in my case, but not yours, it's a thing. It's a known issue that got a response from Lutron explaining the radio broadcasting mechanism being the reason for delays in certain setups

#

I'm hoping the Z-Wave Inovellis I got are good enough that I can remove all my casetas and sell them for probably more than the Inovellis cost

#

Love the lutrons, just love Inovelli more. And I'll hang on to the picos. They're my favorite remote and they have a way-longer-than-they-have-any-right-to range

Probably because they're not really updating it anymore. The new hotness is the Windows Admin Center, which is a web-based console.
It allows you to manage Hyper-V from your browser, similar to how ESXi and vCenter work. No desktop environment required :)

I will note that the assembly to hold the v6 (and the arms) were printed with a cheap v5 clone. The legit v6 does MUCH better prints.

So, there's a trade-off. When in "Silent Stealthchop" mode, they go almost completely silent (because the driver is using high frequency PWM to run the stepper motor), but you lose a lot of torque because the stepper isn't snapping between its discreet holding positions.

#

But, TMC2130 drivers can dynamically switch in and out of silent mode based on the current speed that's beeing requested

#

So if you suddenly request a stupid-fast move, they'll drop back to spread-cycle mode to complete that move, and be audible like normal drivers for a moment, but you'll get the torque you need for that move

For reference, the MKS3 uses TMC2209 drivers, which feature the same Silent Stealthchop mode that I'm using on TMC2130 drivers.

It allows 8-bit controller boards to run at 16x, or even 8x microstepping (which is a lot lighter on the controller board), and the the drivers interpolate up to 256x microstepping

An 8-bit board trying to run a delta at native 256x would choke and slow down really badly

Not as big a problem on cartesian printers, because the coordinate system is a heck of a lot simpler

Oh yeah, I gave up on sensorless homing as well. it worked, but only if you really slammed the printer carriages into the frame...

@peak cloud Noone can answer that question but you. You'd get some new features, like the filament runout sensor and an awesome bed probe, but you could just add a probe yourself, and all the software features have been in Marlin for years.

The filament sensor is pretty nice, though. I had a roll that ran out in the middle of a print, so it just stopped, backed up a bit and beeped at me. Then when I pressed the button, It spit this thing out and let me insert the new roll before continuing like nothing happened. I can hardly see the seam now.
