Angular

I hate the compatibility issues in Java.

eh, compatibility is mostly fine since 8

they completely changed how Angular's forms work in version 4 though

The npm build fail errors are not very helpful.

and it took me that long to re-train my brain

I use the angular CLI, works well

@steel urchin I wrote all of my angular 1.x stuff in directives so it was more like 2+

but the change from template based forms to reactive forms was WAY out of my comfort zone

and it took me a while for it to click

steel urchin
#

well that's not only inefficient, but not really the point of angular's architecture changes

last dirge
#

what?

#

I wrote my stuff to behave like components in angular 2+, encapsulated directives with isolated scopes

the problem I was having with 9 was that when I nested forms the status wasn't passed to the parent

had to learn how to properly do that in reactive forms so it was reported properly

today i was scratching my head wondering why my new router was acting like shit, and it turned out a firmware update flashed to the modem about 30min before i started tinkering with everything, and the solution was to factory reset the modem and then re-configure (which is mostly just disabling every single feature)

tidal bronze

Hmmm.. I wonder if Minneapolis will actually... "disband" the police. Kinda a wierd thought.

LOL okay this is funny.

#

I also got my GoControl Motion PIR, which is specifically slightly downward slanted, but circuit board has an add-on module for a temperature sensor SMD mounted, and it has the exact same jumper switches as the Ecolink motion sensor with PET1, PET2, and Test. But they provide no jumper cable.

#

jumper pin.

#

Ahh, nevermind it was in the box. LOL

forest edge
#

@steel urchin did you figure out what the new firmware fixed/changed/broke?

undone aspen
#

Also a little funny. The GoControl motion sensor back does have the keyhold molds in the case design, just not cut out. Same design as the Ecolink.

tidal bronze
#

I like the ecolink ones.

#

Reliable and battery life is extremely good

undone aspen
#

Yeah, me too. I had started to get Aeotec ones, but I ended up returning all of them, including their door sensors, and got all Ecolink sensors.

#

They're beefier and bulkier... but, consistent battery type/size is a great thing, along with long battery life because they don't try to jam pack everything into it.

forest edge
#

@tidal bronze do you like a set day on the calendar where you go around once a month/year and replace all 40 million sensor batteries? lol

undone aspen

But, the 10' tilt on this motion PIR is probably exactly what I needed to get the right adjustment for my hallway.

Sorry. Disregard that last statement. My house just reminded me I shouldn't say that publicaly.

tidal bronze

@forest edge once a year I check battery levels. I don't even have alerts for them. Now most are GE in wall

forest edge

some analyst does a pie chart of battery usage across the country and most of the sections are labeled like residential, commercial etc and then you see Quadflight as this huge chunk lol

undone aspen

I still want to know why the f amazon told me I've reached my limit buying Ecolink door/window sensors, last month. I only bought 6.

#

And it would not let me buy any more!

Not even 1!

tidal bronze

@forest edge lmao dude.

I think i buy at $7.60 a motion sensor

that sounds high to me

but then freaking rf door sensors are like 10 bucks these days

scenic radish

That's like 1/4 the cost of any zwave one lol

I mean tha aqara motio with lux and temp

not including your 100 bucks zwave stick lol

Don't need to be outlets

Replaced most of the old zwave dimmers and switches with these.

scenic radish

That's a good idea. Holy hell is that expensive though

I wonder what the real longevity of those are

its weird cause cali has the most renewable energy farms of any other state too lol

I'd recommend everyone to have a whole house power meter regardless

rain swift

tidal bronze

Lol.

rain swift
#

I will have whole house power metering when I own, I rent right now.

tidal bronze
#

Oh OK.

scenic radish
#

@hushed basalt will you buy me one?

hushed basalt
#

I can send you a picture of one

#

That should be close enough

tidal bronze
#

@hushed basalt whole house makes little sense when calculating for solar. Yearly usage is what you need.

forest edge
#

yea @hushed basalt you must pay AU prices and also pay shipping

scenic radish
#

@forest edge now I'm curious. It takes about an hour to go from 75-71 depending on the day's heat load

#

Naturally it would take longer to go from 71-67

hushed basalt
#

You can monitor any metric you want with your own data logging

#

But time of use is important

forest edge
#

@scenic radish piss poor insulation?

tidal bronze
#

No time of use here.

#

So makes little sense.

hushed basalt
#

Getting solar won't help much if 90% of your kwh usage is at night

tidal bronze
#

Yearly consumption and production is whats needed.

#

Might be different there.

hushed basalt
#

But that doesn't tell you what you're using when the sun is shining

tidal bronze
#

That does not matter.

hushed basalt

How does it not matter?

We don't calculate like that.

@scenic radish tell your old neighbor lady below she needs to turn her thermostat down from 95? lmao

tidal bronze

@hushed basalt yearly consumption Vs production and you get year end or quarterly bill.

hushed basalt

It doesn't work like that here

tidal bronze

I know.

Which is messed up

It's 6c for export and 25-45c for import

Discord API is wonky, sometimes it fails to do stuff (like respoding/deleting)

last dirge
#

I am the great Cornholio! I need SD for my PiHole!

unreal orbit
#

It seems to only fail (or at least mostly) when someone is tagged. Maybe it is just an API thing

last plaza
#

@unreal orbit i will have to look into it. Discord api has so many issues and flaws and doesn’t always work as expected , and lots of issues. Bot does a pretty good job try to survive and reconnect.

unreal orbit
#

It would probably be enough to log extra content when it exists (at least temporarily). Then you would know if the task is failing or something wonky with the API
logger.Debug("Extra content detected, '" + leftovercontent + "', skipping delete.");

I finally got a certificate created and installed for "home.mydomain.dk", and I can finally use iOS devices. Of course also other browsers with SSL protection when using my externall address. However, accessing the local address 192.168.x.x is now broken, and I cant even configure the Home Assistant app with the internal URL, as it is deemed insecure due to an invalid certificate. Is that normal, or are there workarounds for local access without warnings or even being locked (like the app does)?

Use the external address always, NAT reflection takes care of it unless you got a POS router ;-)

Fahrenheit = how temperature feels to humans

#

Celcius = how temperature feels to water

unreal orbit
#

Nobody ever considers water's feelings 😦

clear ferry
#

Fahrenheit is a quite ridiculous scale, when does water freeze? 32 of course!

#

Water boils? 212 of course!

wet pilot
#

because its a human relative scale, not a water relative scale

unreal orbit
#

What is it relative to humans?

wet pilot
#

Fahrenheit

unreal orbit
#

Yeah, what is it relative to?

wet pilot
#

general human comfort

clear ferry
#

I'm also curious to this, because I know it will be slippery outside when it is around 0, because water freezes, so we have the same relative understanding from both a human and water monkahmm

wet pilot
#

true, but you also have to deal with decimals in your temps

clear ferry
#

Also relative to human feeling depends on humidity

#

We don't have to have decimals

#

We can have round numbers

wet pilot

but 22 to 23 c is a much larger swing than 71 to 72 f

Perhaps, not
