Well I kinda did that with cinnamon, but it couldn't get a simulated right click (ie long press) working, and keyboard stuff was kinda shitty because it didn't like fully working with gnome accessibility stuff behind the scenes.

Open barrel crimps are the style where the connector is 'open' before you crimp it
And usually they have a section that goes on the insulator and a section that goes into the bare conductor
As opposed to closed barrel crimps, usually insulated, where the connector is already closed and usually uniform shape, ans it kind of just mushes onto the conductor
Usually with an insulated jacket already on.
While open barrel stuff typically goes into a connector housing or is heat shrinked after crimping
This is out of the domain of stuff you buy on amazon, but if you get precision dies with mated connectors on appropriate sized conductors you can actually get cold welding
