I did a similar fix to a washing machine that wasn't emptying by just short circuiting the busted lid switch with some wire. (slightly dangerous since it wouldn't stop spinning if you opened it mid cycle, but as long as everyone knows, it's all good)

sometimes the 30/30/30 rule applys to other crap you could try that. thats where you hold the reset button for 30 seconds, while holding it you unplug power to the bell and continue to hold the reset button for another 30 seconds, while holding the reset button in, plug the bell back up and continue to hold the reset for an additional 30 seconds.

Yeah... I grew up in Kansas, lived in Tennessee for a while, been to Texas and Arizona in the middle of summer and went to college in Fairbanks... I have experienced pretty much the full range of temperatures from -65 F all the way to + 120 F and I can say I prefer a dry cold of around 0 to -20 F or a humid 60 F to 70 F over just about anything else.
I think the worst was when I was in my friend's wedding in Texas last August and it was 108F with about 80% humidity and I had to wear a 3 piece suit.
