got my first intel in this optiplex 9020, which is pretty decent for a 4th gen CPU... still keeps up with modern procs

that's the thing, they keep making new chipsets, but only improving performance ~3-10% for the same family of processors

it's not until you go to the enthusiast families that you start seeing insane movement

Hey guys, I’ve searched the forms and can’t find the solution. I have two people that I’ve set up with Hass.io image on Rpi 3, and I’m using the “NGINX Home Assistant SSL proxy” addon to front end the SSL traffic. I’ve added 127.0.0.1 to the trusted proxies on HA configuration, but I still get the docker IP when attempting a failed login. Even though I’ve added that one as well, it will switch to the IPv6 version.

Just want to vent. Rain somehow entered my external ethernet cables and tracked down into my network switch causing a complete network outage. I only realized this when the network was flaking and I went down to my server box to manually restart things and I find the 24-port switch dripping water into the box. Anyhow without the LAN all the WiFi access point also went down as did my HA server's connection obviously. We've been relying on HA to turn on/off lights for us for a little over 6 months now and my wife and I had already gotten so used to it. She even forgot how to turn off the bedside lamp manually 😅 Anyhow when it stops raining I need to trace the 2 leaky ethernet cables and find out where water is entering them. I checked the other end of them (these cables run something like 50m+) and it's bone dry so I assume the outer plastic coating must have been damaged somewhere along the way and it just tracked with gravity.

Long story short: HA is amazing, you get used to it quickly, but it absolutely sucks when it's down!!

the fact that they enforce a limited number of skus means rotating devices out of inventory per quarter, end of life support gets very fragmented quickly, etc.

there use to be an automated service someone ran for free that people could use to forward scammers to that would lock them into a conversation with an ai prebuilt to handle telemarketers ect. some of the clips of the calls were pretty funny to listen too
