https://www.aliexpress.com/store/1200032 - this seller got a good reputation. I have no affiliation to the store or seller, but the store is known in the "community" as being honest and not selling knockoffs
he doesnt sell injectors 😦
his cheapest switch is $85
be better off with amazon haha
NOK 147.69 | Total power 65w 10/100mbps rj45 notwork switches 802.3af for ip cameras nvr wireless phone wifi access point 4 port poe switch
https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/cqO4L8og
Colleague of mine bought this one and was happy with it 🤷
He runs 4 IP camera off it in the Philippines
Ebay has cheap PoE switches pop up all the time
I got a 48 port enterprise grade switch for $40 (lifetime warranty)
@clear ferry I setup enough IP cameras in the philippines to know its worth using a bit money hehehehe
@lucid dock I buy a lot of my little items on eBay, you can find some steals and make offers, which is great.
I got wifi switches for $10/ea (same thing sells for $18 on Amazon) from eBay by making offers to different sellers until one accepted
Tuya switches
Is tileboard going to be an official add-on eventually?
ours is animated, just all frames are the same thing
anything else would just be gaudy
Also I had never heard of organizr, just googled it....looks pretty useful
Haha @trail crag Ubiquiti has done the same. We are very lacking here... .animated discord icons should be TOP priority.
When enough users boost a server that is one of the perks
3 people
Should we bring back animated mouse pointers too? And auto playing emo core music when opening webpages?
Oh yeah those myspace days bring me back
Are there any US-based online stores that ship more than one Pi Zero W per customer?
Buy one from all 😛
They all charge $14 for device and $6 shipping. At $20, Ali sells as many as I want 😃
ah 🤦 someone could tell me the right permisions for /var/log/auth.log I didnt uderstood the linking as I see - I thourght I can change the permissions on a softlink and keep the original file "untouched"
-rw-r----- 1 root adm
hey guys - anyone here using HADashboard?
Lots of folks have, but that's really a question for #general-archived 😉
alright ty
Anyone here running a multi node homelab
I have a strong desire to build a 3 node baremetal ceph on kubernetes cluster
But something that doesn't cost $5000 to build and $1000/ yr in electricity :D
I'm not really familiar with that sort of thing, but any reason you want specifically three?
Three nodes is usually minimal viable for kubernetes
What sort of hardware do you want
Three nodes is the viable minimum for any cluster tech
Something 2u-3u medium depth ideally
Well you can run single node ceph, but then it's not really a cluster
It's a cluster of OSDs I guess :D
I was thinking something like a rosewill LSV-2700
Not too expensive. Can fit 4 x 3.5" drives and a standard power supply
Would need room for a 10gbe NIC as well
Rsv-z2700*
So you would have to get three of those right?
Not really sure what hardware you need, but couldn't you get two of something like this
https://www.theserverstore.com/SuperMicro-FatTwin-6026TT-HDTRF-12x-2U-LFF-2-Node-Server
or this
https://www.theserverstore.com/Supermicro-Fat-Twin-SuperServer-6027TR-DTRF-2-Node-Server
Has to be able to be bought in Australia too :(
Second hand servers aren't viable here
Also those are full depth servers. Plus power consumption would be through the roof
Average loads cost over $2/year here
So 300 watts is $600+ a year etc
Ah damn, I am actually in Australia too but I just assumed you weren't lol
So would you have to go low power/low performance chips to achieve what you want or what?
Performance doesn't need to be extreme
My current setup is a 1.6GHz atom quad core synology with 8GB lol
I don't know much about hardware, but something in the i5 or equivalent would be heaps. Just needs ECC ram though
What do you get by doing this cluster stuff over going a single machine of similar performance
So I don't know if thats Xeon D
Kubernetes experience
Ceph experience
In 'production', where production is my home services
I don't get much learning value out of make believe labs,
Yeah fair enough
Looks like ECC depends more on the chipset than the CPU
Just curious, I built a home server earlier this year but its a very vanilla setup I guess
To be honest, you're unlikely to need ECC for a home server
(says the person with a Xeon home server, using ECC)
Yeah lol, I went xeon with ecc too for basic stuff
and still uses rpi for HA 😛
I think I need ECC more for ceph
lol
When a write instruction is sent to the cluster it always goes to ram first
If the ram corrupts the data it will destroy that data, and replicate that destruction too :)
oh yeah, seems important
So how can you tell that what I linked would eat power? Just trying to learn some things
They look like high power xeon servers
They're made for datacentres or businesses where productivity is more important than electricity
And density
I don't know how they compare but you can get low power CPUs in both those sockets
At home density isn't super important and nor is productivity. I don't transcode plex nor am I trying to serve a website to 40000 people. And my rack has heaps of height (21U) but not much depth as I didn't want a full depth rack
Perhaps. I probably should just buy some second hand servers and eat the shipping
for ECC don't you need server grade like xeon?
I'm not too sure myself
that was my impression but its probably clear I'm not the most informed lol
But there are ECC mobos in small lower power formfactors
fair enough
not a rack mount case, but what about something like a few of these? https://www.ebay.com/itm/DFI-DT122-BE-2nd-Gen-AMD-Embedded-R-Series-Industrial-Desktop-Box-PC-2-7GHz-HD/292559997917?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649
they support ECC, cheap and low power
can fit one full sized PCIe
ship here lol
it is SO-DIMMS
not sure how available ECC is in SO-DIMM but I assume its fine
I didn't even know you got ECC on sodimm, but you will probably not see it in the enterprise space
To be young again and know that rdram was the only cool stuff 😛
shudder
I still remember the mess with multiple DDR support types for desktops
But thankfully all memory controllers are inside the CPUs these days
And pcie controllers too
Atleast for x86 😛 and ia64
I had a DDR1/DDR2 motherboard and a SDR/DDR one iirc. It made sense at that time as there was no performance difference but the price difference was massive
I think I was too young to be building my own computer with ddr2
Yea, but you usually only got two slots of each which made it more expensive anyway because you needed bigger sticks 😂
@ocean mirage I built my first in 1996/7 I believe
I was 4/5 :)
I started working as a paper boy at age 9
Only had one year of not working since that
Then I had already had my own apartment for two years 😂
It’s all that paperboy money
Those are much more expensive
25?
Lol
Better start slowing down and think about retirement 😄
I just bought my first house earlier this year at 26 which I’m pretty happy with
@light trout someone who is worse in math than me, impossible!
I have a 2 (of 6 possible) from vocational mathematics, which is a travesty😛
1 is a flunk in the Norwegian system
House ownership is a pipe dream for Australians
Without being a wage slave to developers living in a shoe box in the outer suburbs and commuting 20 hours a week
I got a 6- on my report card from school, but I only had basic math due to dyscalculia and dyslexia 😛
I got a 6 in music studies and English, that's it 😛
math and gymastic was the only subjects I got something other then 2 😛
over 24h and no x.1 version? Did the rollout go that smooth
You guys got a 6 in memory from me for just knowing what you got in school
Looks like it's just 1 thing currently tagged for a potential .1 release
almost a new record? hehe
I think it is 😛
that cant be. Lets create some bugs :p
They’re all features really
work? its just 2pm its too early for work hehe
2:30 PM == Half past 🍺 time 😄
hehehe. I think its more fun to just demand functions with no respect. As I said I want a HA AI to clean and fold laundry. chop chop
:p
and while you are at it change bedsheets too
It's more rewarding to make and share it yourself 😉
We all know that won’t happen
we can hope
I'm so glad that in the enterprise space the big bugs are far apart, I can list all the impactful ones the last 12 years on one hand, and I work with 40+ different products 😛
No cisco devices?
Then it make sense, there was a year they had 5-6 big issues on their own 😛
Cisco is gross
Gotta learn NSX soon too🤔
The car?
Not exactly 😛
I don't have much interest in networks
I'd rather be playing with cicd, kubernetes, python, web dev, microservices
All you infra guys can just stand over there
I prefer tangible hardware, and knowing how it works down to a firmware and ASIC level, that is where my interest and the money is 😛
Soooo, if someone doesn't yet have a Nest dev api key, they can't get one.. correct?
They'll keep supporting nest API just no new ones
At least for a while, till they change their minds again
Flip a coin ... if it lands on the edge then Google will keep the service running
The latest news that I heard was they are keeping the existing accounts online until they decide otherwise
@static prawn Just listened to this week's LUP. How did the Texas talk go?
well i think?
Ha. Thanks for posting your slides, I gave a talk at my work two weeks ago about home automation and hass and it helped me with my story line a bit.
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1NjkoWb0VmabWN4xUVA9xhXtFU1EX6W9ANYsL77ii5eY/edit?usp=sharing
if you want to listen back (it's practically the same as the talk i gave at LFNW)
Cool.
just sad I have two new nest thermostats just laying around
does it exist some kind of BT LTE sniffing / debugging out there? I really need to see what the miflora things are doing as they are filling up cache and not releaseing it making HA fail
Probably the best acoustic album you'll ever listen to
It's been on rotation for me for 19 years
I’m lying in bed now but if I remember I’ll give it a go tomorrow
Does it exist any misc diy sensors (rsp, esp etc) to mqtt bridges out there that is under active development?
There's a bunch of firmware options for ESPs
#diy-archived would be a good place to ask about that in general though
@clever mortar yeah moved it over. Looking at OpenMQTTGateway for now 😃
approves!
What's that board mounted inside there @clear ferry
Guessing a RPI
The thing on top of the cpu
Looks like a tinkerboard
hello guys
I purchased a chinese IP camera and I want to know if it is sending data to any server
what is the easiest way to achieve this?
I'm using wireshark from my pc on the same network but it doesn't work
even in promiscuous mode
I only see the packets that are sent to my computer
You'd need either:
- A network tap or switch that supports port mirroring
- To configure your laptop/PC as a network bridge and connect the camera to it instead of the network
Is anyone running find3 on the same raspi as they're running hassio?
@clever mortar good suggestion, thanks
For the oodles using sonoff (basic, rf, mini, etc), what do you do about the 10A limit on the sonoff? Do you change your breakers to be 10A also (assuming yours are higher)?
measure current draw with a kill-a-watt and then if it has the potential to get over 10A or is over 10A I find an alternative
Ah
So are you not concerned about the potential of insurance concerns if some craziness ever happened?
#diy-archived will like have more folks who can comment
as long as the draw is rated below the 10A I don't see why you should be worried about insurance. Though I've seen people talk about Sonoff not actually able to handle the 10A that it's rated at so I'd probably stay below 5A if possible
never draw more than constant 3-4amp through something like that. Even an EU shuko that is rated for 16A in Europe should not be used over 6A constantly or the plugs can melt. Rates are ms peak loads
@clear ferry Listening to some of the songs from that album you linked on youtube (cause I cbf logging into to spotify lol), sounds pretty nice. Wish I could play like that
Stand back
Hey @here anyone willing to give us a Discord Boost to let us make the server a bit prettier? Anyone with Discord Nitro gets to boost. You’ll get access to an exclusive secret room only open to Discord Boosters and my undying gratitude. More info at https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028038352-Server-Boosting-

Thats one quite response meme lol
😦 I just like pretty things 😦
^
So anyone, because all of you love me, please gimme the boost
I need the boost
It’s the only way I will truly know you love me
Is the nitro boost only for normal nitro and not the classic one?
It's for all nitros except the new level without games
So normal $9.99/mo Nitro and any grandfathered peoples
Most old folks are grandfathered in at the cheap level till 2020 sometime
Like me
3 boosts!
well congrats!
I probably won’t be boosting anytime soon though since I was planning on getting the classic…
Wait what. I have Nitro Classic and I boosted just fine
white mode...
Maybe there's a difference between grandfathered Nitro Classic and Nitro Classic today
@dry holly discord support is only in light mode :(
It was the support link in the @ here ping
level 1 unlocked... that's 2 boosts
@flat lintel - you can see the animated icon on mobile as well if you have the hamburger menu open and the channel selected.
Though we should do something other than the loading animation. For a split second I was like “where did the icon go... oh” 😂
Maybe just the middle animation with the nodes lighting up instead of the outline also being drawn.
I am not a fan of the animated logo in this use case. It's a blank blue square when it appears which reduces the ability to see which server you're looking for at a glance. I love that it's animated, but it should be an animation that starts recognizable, not something you have to sit around for it to become so. On Desktop it's jarring when running the mouse down the server list to have the Hass icon disappear every time you sweep over it; looks like a bug
agreed. it should just loop the lights blinking
👌 I can make that happen!
hey guys does anybody have a recommendation for a good z-wave door sensor and a z-wave hub I can use? Note that I am based in Europe so pls dont recommend stuff that I cannot get here :)
Talking of that Chrome meme, Discord is slowly getting there as well...
Yeah, I've noticed that myself lately
If I could only boost on mobile, I haven't been on a desktop for over a week 😛
I can't boost, I'm on the old Nitro plan - and $50/year just to boost... no way 😛
.. Nice device.. '00_11_22_33_44_55': hide_if_away: false icon: mac: 00:11:22:33:44:55 name: 00 11 22 33 44 55 picture: track: true
I ask me wich of my friends is a scriptkiddie
just got it
Just enable the bluetooth device tracker, and watch that file (and your startup time) grow...
got it enabled 😅 the googlehome component
Ah, that'll do it
I need to cleanup, I have like 25 bt devices tracked now that I'm not sure who is 😛
That's why I went monitor
Now I have only the ones I want, all half dozen of them 😄
I have legit devices at the top and then a marker and a script that deletes everything under the marker on startup
Much easier to avoid having them there in the first place - particularly given that known_devices.yaml is going away
Yeah I agree but the router adds everything connected and GH also just adds every BT device it sees.
I should ditch the GH tracker anyway as it doesn’t work at all
It's doing what it's designed to do, which isn't necessarily what you want it to do 😉
same
Well what is it designed to do????
It only sees my iPad or iPhone if I have them in BT discovery mode
And who does that?
not that - I think it was Ludeeus who wrote that with an unofficial api
It reports every Bluetooth device it sees
Even though they have been connected to my phones they never connect unless I go into settings every time
I thing google uses that for their eddystone project
That's a problem with the device itself
Yes it sees all kinds of random shit just not anything I actually want or that is interesting
Handful of Pi Zero Ws and monitor 😉
hoped for track_known_devices all the time
so when I want to get rid of this manymanymany random device trackers? just deleting them out of known_devices.yaml does do the trick?
Yes but you have to restart HA after you edit it
adios 2920 lines of known_devices.yaml
Yeah... look that’s why I wrote a shell_command to trim below a comment line
It gets out of hand fast
mhmm.. should I be woried?
https://i.imgur.com/kKbAjCo.png
Nah. The other three are still good
Prob. someone is mining in an Firefox tab
does anyone have some sleek picture pack of things like devices, rooms etc for using in ha UI?
https://i.imgur.com/pXtmoVR.png
I just run around with my phone 😃
What is those moon and star buttons in your kitchen? 🤔
I guess its no problem copying pictures from google since its just local use? Do you guys think that would be an issue?
Also, have you saved to GitHub? I enjoy being a GitHub voyeur 😛
Its for the evening - less Blue and dimmer - but otherwise the same scene
@hearty depot ah ein wiener ;)
looking sweet
Took some attempts 😃 thanks
i really like the internet data stuff

so what ever happened to that thing with the cleanup of bugs/issues on github?
Is there a community favorite for robot vacuum cleaners?
Seems like the Xiaomi are pretty well supported. Thought I remembered seeing some differences between old and new generation.
@hearty depot @eager trench how are y'all tracking outside of GH? (I tried GH and it seems useless)
@vapid mirage I use WLAN to my Router and also the iOS app. GH is useless here as well.
oh. My Fritz!Box is working great for Presence detection although it is a little slow
Unifi device scanner - GH is realy rather useless @vapid mirage
Arghh
My tradfri bulbs don't fit in my light fixtures
Bulb + E27 + B22 adapter = she's too big captain
Have Unifi release official API documentation yet?
Is it in theory possible to unuglyfy jasvascript to figure out what library was used?
You can use things like https://beautifier.io/ which will make it easily to read, but won't help with variable names etc.
You could look if there are any source maps
Hey everybody, So I'm wondering the following, based on my current system which is working "fine" but is prone to crapping out in a "gotta go jigger the entire wifi setup" sort of way after a power failure. Not ideal, but things like Tasmota seem a LOT more stable. Here's what I'm doing - I have a set of current clamps hooked up to my US split-phase power, and through clever analog buggery, they're summing up both phases right and putting that signal in to an ESP8266 Wemos D1. So it's more of a firmware question - Is there ALREADY some package out there that has the awesome stability and flexibility of Tasmota or something similar that I can just read an analog pin, apply a multiplier and ship out as MQTT or a JSON string?
So not sure what channel to post this into. Just noticed my person's weren't updating and looking into it it seems that all my owntracks were duplicated (I had device_tracker.owntracks_name and now have device_tracker.owntracks_name_2) for all my owntracks. No idea why so not sure if it's a config issue or a bug with owntracks. I have owntracks reporting via mqtt and it haven't made any changes to those configs that would have caused this (to my knowledge)
@wispy wharf #330944238910963714 is the better channel to ask about this type of stuff, but it's due to a change in device trackers in version 0.94 and mentioned in the release notes. You will have to do a one time maintenance to update it. Comment out or delete the owntracks entries in your known_devices.yaml file (not used anymore w/ owntracks), restart HA, then you can change the entity_id on the new one and remove the _2 via the UI.
hmm, I think I've broken this server: ssh_dispatch_run_fatal: Connection to 188.40.XX.XX port 22: message authentication code incorrect
Load had gone up to 12000+ 😄
Since most here is python geeks here im working on porting a websocket script to python that is using arraybuffers. In javascript / nodejs I have this: ArrayBuffer { byteLength: 12 }
Uint8Array [ 49, 73, 164, 127, 53, 13, 162, 101, 1, 1, 70, 15 ]
hot to replicate this in python?
I think I fixed my bedroom lifx light turning itself on at 3:30 every morning
I turned it off and left it off all night, hasn't done it since
Cheapass MSata drive in AliExpress box I was using for some HA testing went bang this morning. 32G drive, and as far as I can see it went bang as soon as it hit 16G
😂 😂 😂 😂
Meh, only a test box, and it was very very cheap.
I remember seeing some usb thumbdrives on wish that states 2tb capacity
Guessing they were 2GB 😛
Depends on your pdfs though, I've seen a 1gb pdf 😂
~20 MB I think
BAD BOT
Prometheus graph stops as soon as usage on that drive hit just under 16GB 😄
In fairness, it has been working away happily for months
Just set disk quota to never exceed 15.5GB, problem solved 😛
@clear ferry I was wrong, It can hold 180MB of data 😛
If I try any more, windows just hangs 😛
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I still have the first USB Drive I ever bought. An 8MB Disgo which cost £50
Absolute fortune when a student
Sacrificed 20 pints for 8MB!! 😄
Lol, I still have my first x86 computer at my parents house, unfortunately they sold the Commodore in the early 90s 😅
IBM PS/2 great machine, but the sound card, video card and power supply was in the monitor if memory serves right
so, apple still do that for iMac 😛
Yeah, but they don't have a seperate desktop unit with the rest of the bits in it 😄
Found it, it was a ps/1
that mouse tho
Kill zombie child, force kill parent
@ocean mirage Don't think it actually works anymore. Only reason it has survived was that it ended up in a bed side locker down at my parents and I spotted it recently again
Only one way to find out
anyone on today that could help with the js -> python issue? 😃
kind of wishes contenental shutter fitters where more common in the uk, having moterised shutters would be nice in the summer
@strange vapor haven't followed the discussion, but did you maybe mean this:
>>> (-1)**2
1
Well now, that was weird, some Irish guy called me from Google and wanted to talk to me about my trial period of Google cloud service, guessing it was the Google travel sensor I've been using in the past 😄
He even left a long voicemail
hey all.
Im new here so maybe one of you can point me in the right direction? i cant pick which channel is best suited for this...
Upgrading from RPi3 to NUC... how much processing power do i really need?
I know thats like asking how long is a piece of string, but surely there are some guidelines? like need at least xyz to do video stuff, or get at least i3 for this or that reason?
Plex for example has a thing that says get x amount of passmark for x type of stream, which narrows the field to look in etc.
so i have quite a number of devices, and everything runs fine on the pi, but i want to move into video and facial recognition etc... so how much power do i really need?
facial and video
takes alot of ump
jk but i would at least say a I5 and depending on amount of cameras
amount of cameras is a hard one. part of me says surely 3 or 4 is enough.... but surely 2 or 3 temp sensors is enough as well, and i now have 12+ of those haha so who knows...
is there a rule of thumb? or some thing to def buy or something to def not buy? I saw a comment about getting something with AVX2 for tensorflow etc
i dont use tensor flow i run 11 generic cams on a I-5 and run at 15%
they pull there images from blue iris
Can i ask what model? just as a reference? because thers a big difference between a cheap NUC5i3RYH and a spendy NUC7i5DNKPC, both being i5's 😃
I just dont want to buy a $200 NUC when i need a $400 NUC... and neither do i want to buy a $800 one when a $200 is plenty etc
nuc5cpyh
i think celerons lack AVX
so if you want to use tensorflow you'll likely need minimum i3
thanks guys!
eyeing up a NUC6i3SYH and NUC5i5RYH going 'cheap' second hand locally...
which one is cheaper
the i5 is cheaper.... but is an auction site, so anything can happen
i run a 4th Gen i5 NUC, with 2 tensorflow/2cams, CPU hits about 40/50% when that runs, other wise is its under 5%
Hey @dull chasm , when i lookup nuc5cpyh it says it's a celeron?
@sand badge thanks, thats super helpful!
how does the cost of a new NUC8i3 compare to those second hand?
son read off model number ...it could be but it runs rast so never bothered checking LOL ...was given to me
i guess i presumed the 5 was I5 ....duh
awesome. Thanks !
I'm from New Zealand, so will price things in NZD
a new NUC8i3 here is $500
the secondhand i3 is $450 with 128GB Intel SSD5 and 16GB RAM
the secondhand i5 was a $1 reserve auction, and currently at $277, but will go up no doubt. Has 8GB ram, no HDD
NUC5 = 5th Gen CPU
yea makes sense
I think a FAQ or some kind of place where some of these options were lined out would be great? I looked for a while to try find some info on NUCs and there is plenty of disjointed info, but no real 'good' place to go to get an idea of what someone would really need?
problem is everyones setup is different, remember that this works fine on a Rpi3
for sure, but for those moving from a pi to something bigger it's a big strange move... and some simple guidelines might help some people out? as im sure im not the first to ask what NUC to get 😃
that's true
tbh i also run a dev instance on a Celeron N2830
it also works fine, but cant run tensorflow
shit like that would be great in a wiki or faq or something... for people like me who have no clue on what to use NUC wise, something like that is extremely helpful 😃
Hey guys - I have a general question - my company just “released an app” for iOS that is not on the App Store, therefore they have this FAQ telling you how to allow their enterprise profile on my device - wouldn’t this give them deep access to my device of info they shouldn’t know?
Is it a company phone?
Zzzz morning queues, people should stay home if they can't drive 😛
@dim ferry !
What's this crap?
People, joining the server
That didn't show up before
In your default language too, I see it in English
Nah, probably either a default setting changed, or somebody has gone making changes without discussing them first again
I'll go tap up the brain trust and see if it was the latter
Yup, it was our resident random change maker
Not that I don't like new people joining (Welcome @fiery hound, @outer crescent and @indigo drift! Hope you'll find what you seek and share what you know.), but I have a feeling it'd get spammy reeeal soon...
It can - not always, but I've seen channels drown under those messages
Thank you 😃 Happy to have another go at Hassio and hopefully fullfill my dream of having a badass dashboard/controlpanel
Is shouting for admin the equivalent of I need an adult! ? 😂
I don't even know if that was the right ping... I think I pinged some random user...
Probably should have been @ <distance> Mod

Sorry, admin!
@low harness I just joined, I had a question but i think I just figured it out, I don´t get the spam comment
At least I didn't ping here as I'm sure some would claim Tinkerer tends to do...
What about there ?
@fiery hound That was absolutely not aimed at you. It was just that suddenly there was a message to everyone that a new user joined, where there used to be none. I feared those messages would grow spammy.
@low harness No problem... Hi everyone
@ here "just" gets everybody online, but I think it along with @ everbody is disabled now
@ mod gets every mod, and is generally frowned upon unless there's an actual or impending fire
Or it may just result in you being mocked for some time, as every mod comes online to find out WTF is going on
But we enjoy mockery!
how hard can it be to figure out how to do a for each loop in powershell
I really need to get that training in powershell, it is completely illogical for me as a unix person 🤣
I looked at it a while back, and just noped out of there
yeah I'm starting to wonder if I should find a drywall 🤣
how can you make such an illogical language
Install WSL, use bash or zsh, call it done
well, it has to be powershell because it is going to be used in a powershell module 😛
Give me 2 more hours, I'm paid anyway
well, it was a for i in do loop I wanted
but I think I figured it out
$i = 100..500
Do {
get-hponetwork -VLAN $i | remove-HPOVnetwork
} While ($i -gt 501)
it wasn't half bad when I understood the logic in it
Just had to read 15 examples
🤣
I can tell my boss I saved 1h50 minutes then
must be good for something
Nice, Debian Buster coming out with Python 3.7 before HA deprecates Python 3.5 😄
Simplifies my deployment!
is a date finally released ?
nice
ERROR: locationsharinglib 3.0.11 has requirement requests~=2.21.0, but you'll have requests 2.22.0 which is incompatible. interesting during upgrade from 0.93.2 to 0.94.2
I think there may be an issue open already - I've certainly seen it discussed
I love the sassyness of the message, I require this, but you are not worthy, so you'll have this 🐷
🤣
I wish we could have more messages that taunt the users in the logs
@light trout make it so

ugh why are automated curtains so expensive 😦
even automated blind rollers are like a hundred bucks
Fairly niche market, so lack of economy of scale?
i just wanna be even lazier than i normally am
the xiaomi ones aren't that expensive I think
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
oh, you still need the track also
I really need to start playing with some Xiaomi gear. When I finish the lights and appliances, I might eventually get around to it!
I love all the sensors and buttons
i have a whole bunch of xiaomi stuff, works great
lately I've been purchasing tuya smartplugs, they're really nice as well
Haven't played with the Tuya stuff either. As it stands at the moment, I have no reliance on any cloud services for any automation and I'm happy to keep it that way. Only exception being one which keeps an eye on the train timetable and lets me know if I'm running late.
I'm flashing my tuya stuff as we speak
xiaomi stuff is controlled via wifi
might get that $5 subscription if this all works out so i can improve my google assistant stuff
@midnight adder I swear, I opened Discord just for writing the same thing that you just said! But mine's got a question.
After purchasing those smart plug from Xiaomi, which are great, i wonder if there are other smart plugs with power reporting (i do not need an graph out of that, simply how many Watt that thing connected to is currently consuming).
The xiaomi are great but in order to use that I'd need a EU/DE adaptor and this, plus the xiaomi itself, i have 10Cm of plugs from the wall socket to the actual device power spine.
.. any?
the schuko tuya plug has a built-in power meter!
gonna check it out, thanks!
lemme find the one i ordered
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
the 2 pin EU plug is the one with monitor
@tawny pebble I'm using the Aeotech ones which are, em, expensive, but have been extremely reliable.
Btw, my xiaomi runs over Zigbee, which i prefer. Using Zigbee2mqtt you dont need xiaomi's gateway. I have plenty of xiaomi devices spread at home
@strange vapor will be checking this as well, thanks!
I also own a 3 pin one that I got by accident which surprisingly hooks into HASS automatically
but it doesn't have any monitor at all and the rgb led isn't as good
do note that the relay in these plug make an audible 'tick' when you switch the power on/off
flashing the tuya ones were easy
some people whine about that but if anything I prefer it because it's a solid indicator the power went on
@midnight adder same, i kinda like it
hrm tuya-convert doesn't seem to bring up the AP
yeah I can't seem to get it to work 😦
@clear ferry you said it was easy, what steps did you take? I'm following whatever is on the github but my phone can't even grab an ip address
Followed this with my pi
might have to bring out the rpi after all, I'm using my laptop right now
never tried that, had a spare pi, worked flawlessly
just remember to press ENTER after you have connected your smartphone
I forgot five times
and got so irritated I gave up for two days
yeah the ap goes up but my phone isn't getting an ip assigned
i tried going static by assigning my phone 10.42.42.10 but all i get are dots
had no issues with that on the pi 🤷
if i do that the pairing process does halt tho and the plug goes from blinking lights to silent
guess I'll flash an sd card and try my rpi
are you trying to replace the firmware on those power plugs of Lonsonho to have them working mqtt locally? If so, why? do they require their own gateway, or?
they work on their own but i want to attach them to some xiaomi wireless switches
my plan is to hide a bunch behind the tv cabinet
i see, so to turn them on/off by using this switch
wasn't it better then, to just use sonoff switches? those directly connected to the wires
which works fine except that google assistant sees them as two devices
probably? I like re-usability tho
plus sonoff switches don't do power monitoring do they
I mean, instead of connecting the power plug, you could go behind the powe socket itself
well, true, if using throu these plugs it's reausable
afaik no
right now i do mostly use them to turn dumb lights on/off
because getting smart bulbs for everything is crazy expensive
unless, again, you'd use such relays and connect your roof lights from these. I skipped this and bought P hue. I sold my soul for buying 6 light bulbs.
oh yeah nothing against smart bulbs, I have two yeelights
it's just that I only have two sockets in the entire house lol
everything else is standing lamps or spots
I see.. well, i read that some of these tuya plugs could be shipped with an updated firmware which prevents this hack to run. Hope it's not your case
the spots in the kitchen will probably just get put on a smart plug as well, it's some janky stuff that ends with a transformer brick on a regular plug
yeah i hope so too
@tawny pebble because we don't want to use a cloud based service 😛
anyone know how this: t + l < n.length && (e |= (255 & n[t + l]) << 8 * t) would translate from js to python?
replace n.length with len(n) and you're good to go.
Or wait.. maybe the assignment won't return a value...
@clear ferry just.. don't 😂 😂 😂 i thought it was only running on the cloud but no it's not. just like for the xiaomi, you don't have to use their hub (which makes aliexpress reviews and Faq kinda useless), which makes them non-cloud 😄 .
Maybe, you lose access to some features of the device, but i don't think that's interesting.
@low harness Here is the original function in js:
function deserializeDWord(n, l) {
for (var e = 0, t = 0; t < 4; t++) t + l < n.length && (e |= (255 & n[t + l]) <<
8 * t);
return l += 4, e
}
i just want to flash the plugs to give me more functionality
google assistant is great and all but routines are a pain to set up and are very limited
don't care much for cloud or not since most of my stuff is xiaomi and the mi app works fine
plus i use the hub as a night light
@midnight adder good luck there mate! I am using a smart power plug (the Alexa one, i had it for free) for a led strip and the broadlink Rmpro.
From alexa, one routine i have, is "let's play a game" and this turns on the Tv and amplifier thanks to the rmpro and the led strip thanks to the power socket.
Man, just take iron man and tell him there's a new guy in town 😂 😂 😂 😂
@tawny pebble even if you run with the xiaomi hub you aren't cloud bound, it is still local control
the main beef i have with google assistant is that it sees the tuya plugs both as plugs and lights (because of the rgb ring)
thing is, when you turn off the light part it also turns off the plug
I still do that, but have parts for zigbee2mqtt on their way
result: when I say "turn off all the lights" the plug goes down too
just ignore the light part @midnight adder ;-)
sure it does, just don't expose them
i think you can now, in the cloud of HA you can now choose what google assistant sees. i checked it yesterday aftr the upgtrade to 0.94
has been like that for quite some time @tawny pebble
the tuya app exposes everything, google home doesn't allow you to selectively whitelist devices when importing from apps
since inception if memory serves right
hence why I want to flash so i can do it more native
oh, the tuya bit, I don't know, I don't use it
@clear ferry i don't dig that much 😱
Something like python def deserialize(n, l): e = 0 for t in range(4): if t + l < len(n): e |= (255 & n[t+l]) << 8*t return e
But you'd need to increase l by four between each call.
Would probably be easier to understand if you could find the un-minified version, @late gate
I also love that the device tracker icon is always the same size, so I look like the fat giant I am 💃
My circumferance is Oslo
Black humor here (pls no ban): Wonder where HA would fit ur mother then 😂
</blackhumor>
woo, you can write powershell commands that actually look normal too, this was way simpler
while ($num -gt 501) { continue } ; get-hpovnetwork -Name 100_$num | remove-HPOVnetwork -Confirm:$false
}
Your icon is covering up my location @clear ferry 😜
Jewsus, it's raining cats and dogs, I'm wet all over from 10m outside
Lol, I was outside 5mins ago, no rain, turned around now, demn 😮
Yeah, hopefully my 200l water tank outside my greenhouse is filling up, ready for my ha integration 😛
@clear ferry i got tuya-convert working, but what do i actually flash it with now
It's all in the guide 😛
it talks about a sonoff-tasmota build, is that all i need?
or did start_flash.sh already do everything
Yes, then you can flash it with esphome after if you want
does vlan count to the firewall configuration?
I know that you apply firewall roules to vlans
VLAN is a logically separate network
Now that is a vague and not definable question
😂
Maybe even it depends
the german to english problem in my head 🤣
It will, at least in part, depend on what firewall
And what the underlying question really is
Rather doing a course in Firewalls or vlan configuration
Networking 101 might be a good start
True
My personal view is... don't confuse matters
By and large, a VLAN is a separate network, like a Docker container is a separate computer
(they're not, entirely, but from a high level it's close enough)
😛
Treat it like explaining the basics of a car engine to a new driver 😉
They don't really need to know how the compression cycle works, or the magic of cam-rods
But it helps!
Eventually, if they like to drive "with enthusiasm"
atm I have even my problems to let iptables stick 😅
IPTables is easy enough 😛
@midnight adder what was the issue then?
I remember IPChains...
Chains...
Good old 2.2 isn't it?
Aye
Back when firewall rules were a thing of confusion, since it consisted of 18 different parts that all had their own separate logic
Unlike iptables, ipchains is stateless.. Hey! just like my tables 🤣
Looks dry
Is fluffy and tasty
like it most when filled like a burger
Looks like you never had one 😋
Ipchains is probably before most people here were born 😛
1999?
Sounds right
alright so its now running tasmota and i can access it from the browser
but the on/off toggle isn't doing jack shit
Isn't that when @light trout was born? 😛
Shhhh
Is there a hardware channel, or can I ask hardware questions here?
What hardware?
There are pictures in the device wiki you can find it from 😀
That's how I found mine
ET RGB, there we go
Zzzz stuck in traffic as usual
yaaay it worked
@midnight adder it seems there's a lot of work for having these plugs working, but honestly, when it's rgb this hassle is well worth
😂
Not a lot, takes 2 minutes when you've done it once
it's more an issue of documentation written by the developer without actually making sure it's easy to follow by the end user
everything open source in a nutshell really
it's simple enough in the end, yeah
no one likes writing documentation 😂 devs sometimes even less but yeah happy u have it working now! If someday i'll decide to use these over the xiaomi's, at least i know i'll have to hit my head a bit before having them working
only reason i have these instead of the xiaomi plugs is because xiaomi still doesn't have schuko
@low harness yeah I wish - I copied the code off an ESP so I dont have the source. Trying to create an API that using the methods they are using (sending binary to a websocket). I dont know if that DWord-functions is part of a library
I just have a huge minimized js file - is it possible to reverse that without having the source?
oh lucky i didn't brick my other plug
the other plug i tried earlier no longer reacts to the 5 second reset press and shows up as purple so i thought i bricked it, but tuya-convert still picks it up
lets flash this one as well and have two sonoff plugs
second plug is working too
Hope you're getting better
@tawny pebble alright so it's pretty easy if you have a raspberry pi laying around.
Don't bother trying a laptop or a vm with usb wifi, didn't work for me
@midnight adder I have both, i run fedora on the office laptop and a raspberry used for testing stuff only, currently idling somewhere home. thanks!
next step: hooking them up to HA

this guide is somewhat easy to follow https://github.com/arendst/Sonoff-Tasmota/wiki/RGB-Smart-Plug-16A
I used to run fedora in 2003-2005 but I haven't touched it since
Ran it as a desktop actually
Fedora core 2 comes to mind 🤔
Aaarg its so deam hot here.. and this deam Mobile AC isnt powerful enough...
I was at a local retailer today (actually it's the Greek version of the German Saturn chain), called MediaMarkt and I was surprised to see that they sell (for a significantly high price) the Xiaomi security Kit with EU plug (speaking english and stuff).
That was interesting , since I never read Xioami releasing european plugged variants of its products.
I'm wondering if their firmware is HA-compatible.
We got both of them here in Austria (I guess in germany too)
intressting - I think so meight be the same server (why borther to make an extra infra stucture)
Yes sir getting better sir
@hearty depot Oh, a Austrian mate! Servus!
@clear ferry Also in 2003 i was using fedora (and few others) but luckily Linux in general improved a lot since then. I was too tired to fix problems that I moved to Windows (and found some nice others)
I think we had already the pleasure - youre from Salzburg? Or do I have the wrong person in mind..
You are both sauerkrauts anyway

Yes, yet another update. This is what comes from trying to refine things. Bluetooth, bluetooth, everywhere My Home Assistant system sits...
Hi
I'm using GoControl CECOMINOD016164 HUSBZB-1 USB Hub to control and access zigbee devices
I also bought a smartthings water and temp sensor
I'm able to get these details like
NWK: 0x8073
IEEE: 28:6d:97:00:01:06:29:50
Endpoints:
1: profile=0x104, device_type=DeviceType.IAS_ZONE
Input Clusters:
Basic (0)
Power Configuration (1)
Identify (3)
Poll Control (32)
Temperature Measurement (1026)
IAS Zone (1280)
Diagnostic (2821)
Output Clusters:
Identify (3)
Ota (25)
But what i want is ===============================
endpoint #1
basic cluster
All supported attributes
'0x0000-zcl_version' = 2
'0x0001-app_version' = 9
'0x0003-hw_version' = 0
'0x0004-manufacturer' = b'Samjin'
'0x0005-model' = b'water'
'0x0007-power_source' = 0
'0x4000-sw_build_id' = b''
Something like this
with all the details
how do i move forward with that?
Basically i want all the supported attributes and commands for a given cluster
How can i do it with bellows zcl command?
@tribal palm probably #zigbee-archived talk
Sure, thank you
@hearty depot we've talked already yes but not that long (: I'm from Italy and moved 9 years ago to Austria. Innsbruck first, Vienna now. From time to time i go to Salzburg,, that city is just stunning
I need to go road tripping in Austria and Switzerland, with a convertible in the summer ❤
gonna be wunderbar!
I'll try my luck again. Has anyone looked at how to have "conversations" with a google home? It looked rather complicated when I tried to look how to do it, and I couldn't get anywhere myself. Or does anyone know if you can trigger routines without talking to the GH?
I'm looking for options to make GH ask me when to set an alarm
Routines can be scheduled in their configuration
The noteworthy part being "set a time and day"
It may be possible to make one of your commands be "set an alarm" and schedule it for, say, 9 pm and then your assistant will ask you what time to set the alarm on the designated speaker
what I'm trying to do is have the assistant ask when to set an alarm when I go to bed. So the bed sensor needs to be able to trigger it
You don't get add-ons if you use those 🤷
Can you not install the add ons but manually ? Or have the same functions via shell
Not in the same way no, hassio is what enabled the add-ons
I know of the add ons but not a lot. My understanding was the add ons just add things that can already be done via shell commands
Isn’t one of them samba and ddns maybe I’m missing something
I don't use hassio or add-ons and I survived 🤷
Cool didn’t want to do run hass.io if I’m honest
Just didn’t know if there were components I wouldn’t have access to or if support wasn’t as good because hass.io is the new hotness lol. Also I’m guessing both work with HA cloud
Yes
@mint escarp List of FAQs, including one explaining the difference between Home Assistant (the software) and Hass.io (an installer).
Just wanted to say thanks to @dull chasm and @sand badge for the feedback on NUCs. Just bought a second hand NUC7i3BNK :-D which should be plenty fast to run just home assistant haha :-D
No problem glad ur happy
Have a NUC Vesa Mounted behind my TV for Kodi duties. They're brilliant little machines.
I've woken up to the duckdns addon in hassio not being able to connect. Pretty certain it's a DNS issue. It's an Ubuntu VM, and nmcli doesn't list a DNS for the network adapter. I know I can hard code a DNS but I'd prefer the Ubuntu server to carry on getting it from the DHCP server as it has for months previously...any tips on what I can look at /look for?
@runic iris #330990055533576204
Sorry, thought it seemed more ubuntu specific than hassio related
If the problem is with the add-on 🤷
Aliexpress logic:
1x CC2531 = 3,39€
Shipment: 0,25c
2x CC2531 = 3,39€
Shipment: 3,64€
Sure, different delivery method and faster. But i preferred the 25c delivery.
Stepper bits are the shit
I never dared, I've had them in my drawer for years
My automatic greenhouse is taking shape
@clear ferry looks interesting. what you doing there?
It's a 16 channel WiFi relay that I'm going to use to control solenoid valves, water pump and fans in my greenhouse
Alright! nice project you have there then
I have a 200l water collector bucket with pipes attached to the rain channels on my greenhouse,it fills up pretty quickly, and I have solar panels on the side of the greenhouse that charge a 12v battery bank I'm building
And the WiFi relay is natively supported in ha
I need to get the second box up,I have too many components just laying around in boxes 😂
@clear ferry i was searching the same:
there are wifi switches on aliexpress which i want to try. reason is zigbee is good and everything but sometimes wifi is better.
Actually, i would like to wire (no wifi then) the power sockets on walls. i'm looking ways for doing it.
Yesterday the Xiaomi zigbee power plug failed. after i turned on the Wasching machine, this sonofabitch shut down after few minutes i started the washing cycle
😂 😂
@clear ferry silly question.. why does it have 3 pins for each channel?
ahsoooo! - thanks!
Howdy all... Whoo, good grief, feel like I'm looking at jumping into the deep end haha
We don't bite @pastel ore
Liar!
Haha
Yeah, I'm a tinkerer by nature but... Mostly done desktop PCs and such heh. First time homeowner to boot, so wife and I are looking at options. So far, Home Assistant looks to be the best bet (the little smart home stuff we have so far is all through Google Assistant currently).
I started dismantling my electric toy cars and putting them back together again when I was 3 my father tells me, been tinkering since 😄
Nice
I think the best compliment the HA team can be when the WAF factor in this house is the spouse started using HA lovelace on their phone
Problem is now I start getting requests :p
My wife started doing that 6 months ago 😂
She's even started using the Google home hub
Haha, that's pretty cute. So much (sometimes) useful stuff you can do with HA
We hardly even use Alexa anymore. Most things we used to use it for are now automated. Kitchen timers is her primary function now
For me there are still timers and such that can't be automated.. Maybe I need a HER for the rest
@@valid halo, Why are you in the hospital? Everything alright?
I got pneumonia. Got sick. Getting better
Glad that you are doing better!
Anyone around to help me out? I’m trying to setup Spotify but I’ve just started with HA today. It’s running in docker, I’ve gotten a few buttons and I frames configured but want to get a Media tab going for my google homes around the house.
I have the app created on the developer page and everything but not sure where to go from there
I suppose this would go in #frontend-archived or #330944238910963714 but not sure
@tidal fjord it's pretty well documented in the Spotify docs, have you done all the steps for the app, then plotted in the needed information in configuration.yaml ?
Like adding this? “
media_player:
- platform: spotify
client_id: YOUR_CLIENT_ID
client_secret: YOUR_CLIENT_SECRET
aliases:
abc123def456: 'Living Room'
9183abas000: 'Bed Room'”
If so, yes and it breaks my Config lol maybe I’m putting it in the wrong place or something
I’ll mess with it tomorrow some more, gotta be up in 5 hours lol
Lets move over to #330944238910963714
So my tile died because apparently you cant change batteries in the old ones ( they expire in the app !?) . Any good alternative for BLE beacons ?
Probably a million on AliExpress
I think if you use it as a ble tracking device without the app you can change the battery.
It isn't very pretty, though...
This little fella still works
My guess is that you have to be fast swapping out the battery
New tiles let you swap
They got lots and lots of critique about that in the first versions...
Hello all. Looking for recommendations for the best 3D printer for someone getting started. Want to start out making some cases for some sensors
Can someone help me install homeassistant on pi zero w I'm stack
Pi zero is a no go
Why?
Zero makes a good platform for low powered activities. Home Assistant is not low powered 😉
That sounds like a #330944238910963714 question 🤔
That's ok, my snark level is low today, you get a free pass 😛
back to your whiskey then.
That sounds like a plan...
Whiskey, wouldn't have expected @clever mortar to drink such low quality alcohol, keep whisky proper 😛
I'm blue dabba de dabba da? 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔
Last one, definitly the last one
If you can ignore me I'll be impressed.. 😛

@clear ferry I did that 20 years ago
Tried to ignore me 20 years ago ? 😛

just got my xiaomi vacuum gen 1 any iders that ppl have don with there an if there have add it to there HA
@quiet cobalt is that a roborock or something else?
its that one but gen 1 i think gen 2 it the roborock with an mop
A lot of people have their roborock in ha atleast, I have it fully integrated with custom frontend buttons, I can call out rooms for it to clean in Google assistant and when both me and the wife leaves the house it starts automatically 🤓
It it anyone that recognizes li brary i python that shits bytes? (convert int to bye with shifting=
💩 bytes... 🤔
I think reddit do a lot of 💩 bytes
Im just trying to see if the library im trying to use originally used a tool to do this
type
... if len(id) < 0:
for code in id:
def f(code=code, a=a, i=i):
self.WebSocket_SerializeDWord(self.SERIAL, u, i)
i += 2
return f(code, a, i)
this could be from something
learn python, don't try to mimic minified JS in python
yeah, well the point is im trying to figure out how they did it.
ask them 🤷
asked, and just get reply go ahead, but we wont share. use the code you got
so I got a 20k line js minify and figurured out most of it
I can do python, just harder when im need to take a code, padd it with btes, make an array etc
making on a HA component
funny thins is they want tit, but dont want to help making it except that code I have
find out what it does, then replicate that in python
I know what it does, that I can read from the code. Already working on making it python native 😃
just asking if anyone know if exist a library that would be used for padding int to bytes
Here , try this:

Ring is being a dumb. My sensors haven't updated in a week. Stupid cloud junk
Reads as last updated 227 hours ago
Cloud, for n00bs
Cloudy with a chance of downtime 😛
We have sold "cloud" for 12 years, I still make airquotes when I talk to customers about it 😂
My favourite descriptor is somebody else's computer
That helps people start thinking about it not being under their control, and so uptime becomes an interesting thing
I love it when they always make the argument about cost, had a development company calculate it, because they need CPU to actually be available to compile and have enough memory available, it ended up 3x more expensive than buying local hardware 😛 even with power and cooling included
Yeah, I've been there many times. You do the three year projection, and suddenly cloud becomes scary expensive. I'd one case where we could replace the whole server yearly, and still be cheaper than with cloud
well no shit you are paying for equipment , personell and upkeep...... i knew that 20 years ago
Old man...
Everything is cloud if you think about it
coming from the old fart
My email for long enough was on prem 😉
I moved all my 300.000 mails to outlook 365 last year, took some time when I had been saving them in offline pst files for 11 years 😛
How big was your pst file JESUS
I had many, totalling 120gb if memory serves right
And only 5% of it is newsletters or similar, the rest is relevant work email 🤷
How is something 11years old still relevant....
I work with servers that were installed in the 90s and occasionally something installed in the 80s or 70s, the last 11 years is HIGHLY relevant 😛
Heck I work daily with servers that are 10-15 years old
And customer mail chains that are equally long
Lol that is actually a fair reason. Must be a good sorting / coding system you have setup to be able to track that stuff down.
argh, still stuggling with the js -> python movement. Could someone please look at this js code and see whats the best way to do this the python way? https://www.codepile.net/pile/8xNvl0xK
{{ description }}
https://stackoverflow.com <-- Try there
true, its a bit related cause it will end up as HA component 😃
I have it made in node, but trying to make it py
I'm not sending you there for lack of relevance, I'm doing that becasuse you have tried this for several weeks, with no found soulution on this server, that probably means it's time to try somewhere else 😉
Well thats not that true, got great help a couple of days ago with a function. But of course I can post there too. No offence 😃
Actually I got it working myself 😃
Yeah, but with all the monitor adapters I have collected over the years it just hurts me
I have never thrown a monitor cable or adapter away 😂 😂
I need to take a picture of my cupboard
Last time we moved house, I recycled boxes of old cables
Including a stack of obscure SCSI cables that few would even remember
I trimmed my collection down to only things that were likely be used, which did include a bunch of obscure or custom adapters
Finally home 😂 😂 😂
thanks for the help all guys with my js to python project even @light trout (haha) - finally running api and ready to start making the component! 😃
Ludeeus is away for 3h 5m 28s with a message :point_right: .... I doubt there is enough 🍻 /🥃 in the world for this...
If I want to setup Alexa to control my lights through HA will I be able to just say "Alexa turn on the kitchen lights"?
is the hue emulated bridge the best way to do this?
Is that what the hue emulated stuff is for? I haven't looked at it yet, for Google home we just say 'turn on kitchen lights' and as long as the lights are added to the room there is no other config to do 🤷
hmm interesting, yeah reading it now. sounds like you have to emulate a hue bridge so Alexa uses that to find the lights. Going to give it a try, since I ditched wink this is the one part I've been missing. Would be great if I can still have it as it use to be without changing how you say it. It would make the wife happy. Anytime non tech people have to relearn smart home stuff its a struggle 😂
looks like you can do this for google home too
My daughter of 8 months is learning to control the house as I do, she stares at my home hubs when they respond and I yell at them 😛
cloud or alexa are the best way

@light trout i just updated HACS to v0.8 and now it wont let HA load up. HA loads only if i disable HACS from the config file
So?
two possibilities, namely 1) im an idiot (most likely); or 2) maybe there is a bug?
below is the log extract from the hass docker
ok
Open an issue on GitHub, that is the correct place for this 😉
@light trout thanks for all your awesome work 😃
Poop, my automated greenhouse has hit a snag, the 240l/h pumps I had ordered from AliExpress aren't powerful enough,I need something with atleast double this power 😞
2 of them?
4
You need redundancy 😉
240l/h thats so in the 80's
@clear ferry 12 or 24 v? for my super hyper gaming workstation I use a industrial 12V pump. It's a sanso pdh 054
It's cheap and powerful as 3x D5 pumps
I need to find a new pump by Tuesday though, I leave on a flight on Thursday 😛
I'd give Sanso a try. they have also 24V but since you need 12v.. I love this pump, really. But of course it depends by your needs. You wouldn't use it to fill a swimming pool 😆
I think I'll need to stop by a aquarium store tomorrow, Norway's biggest is downtown Oslo, and I'm going in to a customer tomorrow anyway 😛
I have two pumps though i might try to connect them in parallel to see if the flow is sufficient 🤔
