its also heavily a mindset.
if you can fake the lead-poisoned brain-is-cheese thing.. you too can be a boomer.
facebook/etc helps with that obviously.
you just know infinite is going to berated so bad when he gets older and crosses that threshold he despises so much now
eh - when all you do is piss on things, then wonder why the floor is wet.
on a positive note - can I just say how much I love this graph:
Pretty much all of the untracked is my HVAC system..... One day, I'll figure out how I'm going to bring that into the dashboard.
many annoying current clamps?
yeah, that's what I'm thinking..... Putting one CT over the A/C circuit breaker output would probably catch most of it
I'm not sure I care about stuff like lights.
wish there was an easily chainable CT.
like.. measurement all-in-one rs485 current clamp or something.. that you could just chain to one another and have one wire out.
I noticed that you can get DIN mounted zigbee circuit breakers.
well yes, that's because those were designed for countries with not-trash-breaker setups..
yeah - I'm not 100% sure I'd want to change out a known good branded breaker for a random TUYA based thing though lol
I more meant like.. shelly ones
tho the shelly din rail stuff is pricy
whenever available I prefer to get like.. not-tuya for anything mains related.
I think I'd rather go CT clamps before the replacement breaker lol
but it seems even those expect 240v L/N
realistically the only half-clean way to do the breaker thing
would be to have a SPAN panel or something
I wonder if that's for a specific measurement purpose - or just ... well, power
but that is.. obviously pricy and etc
the last upgrade was putting in some 10mm cable to the EV charger lol
too many live wires - and with that thickness, the electrician needed to use a........ I forget what he called it - basically a big ass screw terminal to bring all the lives together
ie from the street + everything else feeding something
... depends on if the thing you're clamping in is specced for multiple wires and etc usually
but yes I used one of those big screw terminal splice things recently to modify an old spa circuit for a heat pump
that and the major stuff all got changed to 16mm cable
The terminal crimper they use for the cable in our datacentre at work is fun. Most people can barely lift it.
Takes a lot of force to crimp 500mm² cable
I'm glad I don't do much mains cable stuff lol
... well yeah usually those things tend to be hydraulic or at the very least ludicrously-high-leverage electrical crimpers.
I grumble when I have to do fibre these days lol
That one's electric, but I've seen some massive hydraulic ones that just have to be pumped like a bottle jack
... on price especially
but makes sense for anyone doing that shit on the daily obviously.
Also the torque for the bolts on the bus bars. One of the apprentice electricians is quite tiny, she could have done a pull up on the handle of the torque wrench and not done it up to spec
oh man, I got excited..... Dividend time for my Spark NZ shares..... I bought them back when they were deploying the first residencial fibre networks in NZ.... The entire dividend: $23 AUD lol
cheater bar; duh
I mean, yay - I still think it was good to show my support for proper telco networks by buying part of it.
but eh. not wise financially lol
I kinda miss those days tbh lol
psh should've put your money where your mouth is. /s
eh - been there, done that.
But when he started shopping around, he wasn't happy with his options. The internet speeds from AT&T were painfully slow. Comcast wanted to charge him an up-front fee of $50,000 to expand service to his home. He opted for a third route.
and apparently in the early days he was giving more speed than intended because..
he didn't have expensive enough hardware to properly do traffic shaping and etc on peoples speeds.. xD
yeah - we had 10 or 100Mbit plans - cos that's what ethernet speeds were
only started playing with fiber in my house recently to do some backhauls between my main pc and new server that.. i still havent finished building because I;'m an idiot.. D:
yeah, 10Gbit stuff is dirt cheap now - and I can't imagine any reason for higher at homes
simply because its faster than HDDs, faster than SATA SSDs, and decently fast when backed by NVMe drives
I did fibre to the PC in my office at home because the hole I made in the wall was already full of copper cable and it was easier to fit
Singlemode BiDi transceivers that only need a single fibre instead of a pair are a lifesaver
I've been playing with bcachefs + SSD cache for tiered storage... It seems to work well
although for now, I'm doing 2 x HDDs in RAID1 + 1Tb SATA SSD as 'cache'
eventually, I'll suck it up and put a 512Gb NVMe drive or something in there as cache instead - but eh.... other more important stuff first.
new server has...
a couple 1.4tb SAS SSD's.. and then some spinning rust for media
so should be able to saturate a good chunk of that 10g on local access.. when I get off my ass and finish designing the case..
the only time I manage to saturate 10Gbit is doing file transfers on NVMe -> NVMe
anything else, and the actual storage is slower
it'll still be far faster thaan my current shitbox server anyways
I just got lazy..... I only have RAID on the two HDDs in RAID1 these days - everything else just lives on a single drive NVMe and replicated to a different server
big storage stuff gets its own SATA SSD as storage for the VM
ie pass through the entire SATA SSD
gonna just go with raidz1 on my media drives so 2+1 spare or whatever.. the SAS ssds I have.. 4 of so gonna do mirrored groups of 2
yeah, basically RAID10
I went more down the path of just having multiple copies of the stuff I care about
SSDs and NVMe drives are reliable enough that I haven't had a single one fail yet
yeah. and these are just enterprise used SAS ssd's.. I doubt one will ever fail with the load I put on em
so, seems better to just duplicate the data instead of trying to fix it on the hardware level
heh - I have a 240Gb enterprise SATA SSD here that's like 10 years old now - god knows how much data it did, and its still not even hit a reserve block of flash
I think these days, I'll probably replace drives cos I've run out of space before it gets near its EOL
eg - I have 4 x 1Tb SATA SSDs sat on my desk now - 2 still in boxes, unopened.
just no need for them atm
I used to use 2 of them in RAID1 and run all the VMs off them - but now, its faster and more reliable on the single NVMe drive
that being said, all VMs replicate their storage to another NVMe in a second proxmox node - so each node has both nodes disk images on NVMe
I was lucky to get some fell-off-the-back-of-a-truck specials on SAS SSDs that make them cheap enough to use for bulk storage.
12-wide raidz2 because space efficiency and sequential IO was more important than random
Needed to connect two 12G SAS ports to the JBOD, will do about 7.8GiB/s during a ZFS scrub
if you oil them, they will spin at 6000 rpm 😉
the slower the better
I used to use those weird Seagate 5900 rpm drives
Worked fine, and for a remarkably long time
They were just called "barracuda green" way back when
lol
Worked great for around 7 years before I needed more space
I never got into that raid stuff. I couldn't justify it. mirroring.. raid1 I guess but realistically all I do is rsync once a week lol
in all my years (knock on wood) I never had a drive fail to the point I couldn't recover what I needed off it before junking it
gah - why is it so hard to get EV manufacturers to do an OTA update in Australia.....
Going way back to my alarm question.... I managed to write an automation using piper TTS that reads out the weather forecast for the day, then starts playing my local radio station on the "All Speaker" chromecast group
Probably workable - but I didn't have any massive, genius ideas on making it 'cool' lol
just have it play this clip at full volume https://youtu.be/zN2BGzN6bqw?si=AXgGU5CKktmfARRY

Neat. I should add a weather report at some point
Mine reads out the TODO list sectioned by the scheduled time of the task
I wanna try and find a pa type xylophone sound to start it
but eh lol
cos all the speakers make their own noise when they turn on
I'm not sure if there's a way to turn that off
I think there is, yea. On the announce action iirc.
But mine just plays a super annoying horn as alarm, and then does the reading when I turn the alarm off
This is an interesting way around it: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/i-did-it-i-defeated-the-horrible-google-home-cast-start-prompt-sound/36123
I love my Google Homes but THE one thing that really bugs me about them is that anytime I want to cast a TTS or sound file to them, they rudely kill my buzz with that annoying “turn-on” prompt sound, (you know the one, “BWOMPT”). For some ridiculous reason, Google allows this to be disabled for Chromecast Audio but not the Homes. I assum...

So having a 2 second delay on the push button is not shitty?
thats just wifi for ya

@sonic edge by default, there's a delay for single press because multipress is enabled. If you don't plan to use multipress, you can make the button press instant with SetOption13
Documentation (Wiki) for Tasmota
Shouldn't be 2 seconds though. I think it's like 400 ms
Anyone have a Sora 2 code they can share?
Oh right.. thats why in the past i had issues with Google 🫠 good thing i turn 18 in two weeks
you think
hopefully the wife will like it.
hopefully you asked beforehand lol
Meh it’s the garage I doubt she cares
so a lot of people talk about how you want to try to offload as much of your smart devices from being on wifi to reduce throughput hits online, but i'm starting to wonder how much of an impact does that even have
It really doesn’t seem to hurt my network
Mind you anything mission critical is wired.
i keep adding more stuff
for instance i'm looking to replace all the downlights in my house with smart ones (no I don't want to go the route of smart switches), which means i need around 32 downlights. i've been trying really hard to avoid using wifi lights because of what people have said, but the reality is I don't get how it would even be a problem
That would be a lot of bulbs. Unless they’re on some kind of linked controller.
most of these devices might at most use a couple megabytes a month in terms of throughput from what i've seen
i mean, if you put them into groups in home assistant, why would that matter?
It’s still single devices on wifi though
would just be annoying in the beginning pairing them though
sure, what's the issue with that though?
More devices is more congestion.
but congestion only occurs when a lot of data is being moved by all the deices, no?
Plus iot stuff is usually pretty bad at negotiating speeds and too many could slow your network. Plus depending on your router it may not handle too many very well.
these lights aren't going to be sending a lot of data all the time, in reality they're really not sending much at all is what i'd imagine
Like I have probably 60 iot devices on WiFi. But isolated ssid, isolated vlan and it’s all commercial grade WiFi
yeah, i'm not worried about my home's hardware
Ah same here.
two u7 pro's connected to a udm
Just give them their own ssid and turn off base station transition.
already have a separate vlan for iot
That setting drove me batty
so i feel like i'm probably fine getting smart bulbs that work on wifi
because...it seems like there's very very few zigbee/zwave downlights out there
That many bulbs I wonder if something like Lutron is better.
lutron what
I guess the question is do you just want smart or you’re going to go like full rgb control
well my ideal is a smart light with dimming/white temp and a nightlight ring
Here’s the problem I’ve had with a lot of smart bulbs. What happens when one of them loses pairing.
to wifi?
Yeah. They do it a lot.
what causes that
yeah, don't have an answer to that
thing is, i don't want smart switches, mainly because finding ones that will replace the existing 3 gang switches in my home is...almost non existent
I mean it is what it is but climbing up there if they need a reset will suck.
Huh? They’re the same size as a regular switch.
You replace single switches
There’s no such thing as a 3 gang switch. There’s 3 singles in there.
sure, but 3 single panels isn't going to fit in a 3 panel existing setup, no?
No it will.
I have boxes with three smart switches in there. They’re a bit deeper but totally doable.
Please.
now i think i understand what you're getting at
faceplates don't matter
harvest the switches and install them
look...it's been a rough like 8 weeks between buying and moving into a new home
cut me some slack
No judgment here.
then the question becomes finding a light that will work with them with a nightlight function
....i guess the real question is how would a dumb one be controlled by it
Best you could do I think is dimmers
as an example something like this https://www.amazon.com/Amico-Recessed-Selectable-Ultra-Thin-Downlight/dp/B0B2W5D7QR
honestly...maybe these aren't a good example
then again, it would just be programming an automation for the switch mode to turn on the nightlight
except the temperature couldn't be controlled then with these
i think for a light with temperature control, dimming, and the nightlight it would have to be smart outside of the switch, no? @lavish badger

Body Pickle Pillow I guess one might say
at least you can dance without fear of people making fun of you
Like that’s ever stopped me from doing anything.
well, turns out regardless the only way i'll make this work is by punching out all the j-boxes in my ceiling
so this idea is a wash lol
i think they have to be dumb lights to make this work, all smart ones have a j-box included that needs to be used
Unless like you said you want a bunch of single bulbs
even that won't work
because they all come with jboxes
smart or not smart
can lights with a night light
Oh. Yeah, if you want the "night lights" it's a whole new fixture, there's no way around that.
yeah, i'm just giving up on the entire idea for now
These are pretty. I need a 0-10v dimmer i wonder if they've got one
i don't want to punch out all the jboxes
Go low tech for the night lights, do the ones that go into your outlet covers.
If you have a very specific result in mind and won't compromise, the hardest path may be the only one.
oh, no 0-10v. i've come to the conclusion that all 0-10v smart switches are fugly
Those lightswitches are discontinued.
yeah, it's just something i'm not going to compromise on
oh. wonder why
ah
I wouldn't recommend them to anyone anyhow. They do have local control over HA, but that's only because someone reverse engineered the API calls
haha. ChatGPT's like "you can use shelly, or wait for an imagine future product"
Zooz makes a 0-10v in wall relay. I think you can bind it with a dimmer switch in smart bulb mode
they couldn't extract enough personal data/money from customers*
hey guys and gals
what do you guys think of this...
recently pulled the trigger on a HP Prodesk 800 G6 on eBay to run HA on
since the unit does not have the wifi card installed i been thinking of pulling the trigrer on a "combo" card instead of the wifi
.... really really weird that it wouldn't have a wifi onboard all of those tend to.
was removed as it previously had a coral TPU in that slot
ah, thatd do it.
it shouldn't be that expensive 🤣
its not, but aparently because i opted out of the coral board he upgraded me to 64GB of RAM for free
If I had both a Zigbee and zwave network, personally I'd want separate adapters
i was just readin up on the CNX unit that has separate radios
Mixtile’s “2-in-1 Zigbee & Z-Wave mPCIe module
looks like 2 separate "radios" to me
the amazon one looks like its 10x the price of the CNX unit
the "eat shit its amazon" upcharge
Yeah I'm sure it's two radios, but it's a single adapter
So a single point of failure

hello r/assholedesign

i mean there isnt much there to start off with
but i do feel this may turn out into a jlcpcb order lol
the stupid zwave chip is probably like

because all zwave chipsets have the licensing fees and etc bundled into them
that is a zigbee chip.
not a z-waave chip

its one of the big reasons that z-wave is not as popular these days.
because that single chip (not even a working product)
costs more than an entire esp32c6 with wifi/bt/zigbee/thread.

at least in the end someone else wont end up under the "assholedesign" hammer
... primarily because the majority of people do the sane thing that is just buy a damn adapter and move on.
you're in canada not the USA; so you don't have the excuse of tariffs driving up adapters or anything like that.

also, from what I've seen, CA got hit by some of the tarifs, because they had their supply chain set up to go through the US. Not sure if that got fixed by now

nah, but supply chains might be changed so they don't go through there

Hi everyone, I just set up my home assistant yellow with a CM5 and a SSD for storage. I would like to store much longer history than the default setting. Ideally I want detailed 5+ year (I have around 50 between sensors and switches). I want to avoid to have an external server to hold the metrics. What do you suggest? Influx DB integration? Can I make HA just use influx DB and not the default one? Is there a better solution?
You should open a post in the right channel
The short answer is both no and that you don't really want this to happen by the ways available to homeassistant
I am new in the communicty? Do you know what channel should I post in?

Hey all! Just discovered Home Assistant, and excited to check it out. I've recently become a first time home-haver and want to supercharge my home automation. Seems a little scary and confusing (and potentially expensive), but I'm excited to dig in!
Everything about owning a home is expensive
…is how I justify spending so much on home automation
Love me some sunk cost fallacy
does home assistant support x rocker leds - neo motion technology

has anyone here tried the streamdeck + ha combo? i wanna try it out for simple light dimming in my gaming room and switch to different scenes but idk if it works well enough that im willing to buy the stream deck
im way to new to be even considering these kinds of things lmaooooooo
i made an automation that forces me to get out of bed after my alarm, my morning routine automation enables this automation and sets the datetime helper to the current time when the morning routine ran (which is when my alarm goes off)
this automation repeats from there every 2 minutes and only turns off once i get out of bed. the notification that's sent uses the alarm channel on android so it actually plays my alarm sound rather than just a normal notification sound
if it connects to the internet you can always monitor it's state with ping through local network
i have but i wouldn’t buy a stream dek for that specific use case tbh
Tnx for cleaning that (spam)
Any cheaper alternative that works equally well or better?
most usual ICs these days do tend to be SMT not thruhole yes.. 😛
not that i know. i have the original and it works alright
haven’t gotten it specifically for HA but it work good lol
I’ll see if i can find some used ones in my area but thanks for letting me know it works

whenever i see a product listing on amazon that seems cheaper than it should, and has a spelling mistake, i get super suspicious....dunno if i want to risk buying this eaton z wave smart dimmer switch for 13 bucks or not
... zwave chipsets alone tend to go for like.. 5-10$
lovely licensing fees baked in.
that's why i'm suspicious
could be liquidation.. maybe not being made anymore..

it's by no means cut and dry, I feel like I have to teach the damn thing calculus before it will start getting things right but it's the journey I guess

Sometime over the last couple months has the HA stack become a little more efficient? My avg CPU used to be about 6-7% now it's 4-5%. I haven't removed anything.
That's well within a margin of error. Why would you even care about 1% difference 😂
It's that time again, Amazon Prime Day! For those of you interested in seeing or sharing deals, we have a https://discord.com/channels/330944238910963714/1424764586896261282 pinned for you in the #1284966353798697001 channel. 😌
I'm not mathematician, like you claim to be, but a long term change in average CPU uses from 6-7 to 4-5 is about a 20% relative change. It may not be significant without tailored benchmarking that includes a number of load types but may indicate improvement in the system. I was curious if this was indicative that performance improvements had been made. From casual recall of many changes in the HA ecosystem it seems that there has been an effort to remove busy-waiting. Do the HA developers use benchmarking and/or use code profiling to identify and remove inefficiencies?
it's python. It's slow as shit and runs single threaded. There is fuck all optimization in python. More likely something changed on your host system
hey if you want speed figure a way to get it to run on GraalVM 😛
What's that 😂
https://www.graalvm.org/python/docs/
Its taking python and throwing it into the JVM
and the JVM is probably one of the most performant VM's for code to run it.. by way of the hilarious amount of work thrown behind java shit to make it run better and etc.
It's a dedicated n100 mini running HAOS. The only changes are those in the HA environment
You never update anything on the host system?
If HA is single-threaded I can see how busy-waiting would kill performance
Only HAOS, Supervisor, HA core, addons, and HACS that show up as updates
lmao I just switched from a ZBT-1 to a sonoff zigbee coordinator and it's so different now
before there was like 1 bulb that was connected to the coordinator and that bulb was the parent to pretty much everything
now it's this
i guess that's what a dedicated big antenna does for you
maaan i did an oopsie and that hits different when broke. i heard so much ab ikea trådløs bulbs so i bough a conbee 2 and some bulbs and just now found out its changed from zigbee to matter on the trådløs :((((((((((
biig ooopsie
so now im stuck with matter bulbs and a pi with a conbee 2 for zigbee
if only the damn skyconnect was availible i'd have bought that one and if i remember correctly it supports matter and zigbee? cost around the same too
i hate my life
do you mean tradfri?
tradfri is matter now?
what country are you in? US?
this is in the product description of trådfri and the hub it belongs to "Smart products connected to the DIRIGERA hub are compatible with all smart home platforms that use the Matter standard."
no
ikea moving away from zigbee
and towards matter
i live in the UK and the bulbs they sell are still zigbee
is it wifi or thread?
I'll have to see im grabbing them from the post office today but I saw THAT on the website and googled and asked ai and all results lead to them switching out zigbee
uhm thread I think
no price change?
i'll check the box when i grab them and see if its a M or a Z on the box
No clue
i paid like 17£
for a gu10
with color option
a single gu10?
oh you're UK too?
how come you used £
because I know you do so why convert it from NOK to something else than quid
oh thank you lol
no worries
but i dont know the exact conversion rate but ca 17 quid
179 NOK if you wanna check
i just bought 9 Matter/Thread coloured B22 bulbs for £28
costs too much here
Nanoleaf Essential - they're a bit laggy for state updates but i'm unsure whether that's just Thread/Matter or these bulbs in particular
and import taxes are so up i cant buy anything off amazon or any other ww service
they're running quite the deal
crazy deal actually
well i gotta close up the shop now and head home and I'll see. hopefully AI was wrong and its still zigbee 🙏
they're only 806lm and they're no phillips hue bulbs in terms of colour reproduction, but they're okay
my thoughts exactly with ikea. one of the cheapest you can get in norway. tapo is eaily around 20£ and only wifi
ikea barely sells RGB bulbs here
they sell coloured bulbs but only specific preset colours (like 10), rather than RGB
Hmm, just called shelly about the 0-10v gen 3 dimmer.. they're like "yea that's discontinued, we're not making new ones, the gen4 isnt out yet, no idea when it'll be out"
probably because the colour repro is crap lol
anyone else in similar league as shelly?
... not really no? 🤷♂️
product i need doesnt exist, so trying to cobble something together :/
https://us.shelly.com/products/shelly-0-1-10v-dimmer-pm-gen3
I mean its still for sale..?
Yea this is the product i called them about. they've been discontinued. still have a small amount of stock tho
Yeah the one i bought aswell is like that. 9 preset colours. But thats okay I just want it to set a mood when i watch tv and normal light when im not
But just gotta hope its a damn zigbee bulb when i go pick it up
the product page says it still needs the ikea hub so i dont think they're on matter yet
looks like the Gen4 stuff will be matter tho
If not its gonna be like months until i can get the skyconnect
Empty every store
does norway not have amazon?
Not getting any more of them either
just get a sonoff
We can order from it but we pay 25 og 30 percent import tax
Or*
gen4 I presume uses ESP32C6 stuff inside because its thread/zigbee/wifi/bt.
so it becomes very expensive
oh its thread as well? not just matter?
i thought it was matter over wifi
is matter over thread state updates generally laggy or is it just these cheap bulbs i have?
compared to zigbee
oh
i think I misread
either way.
its still good. 🤷♂️
But given that its using the esp32C6
the actual on/off state of the bulb updates instantly but it takes this long for HA (and other controllers to detect)
its entirely possible to flash it to esphome or soemthing with thread if that comes to be someday.. 😛
What did you use to create that network graph?
Not quite sure where to put this, but I'd like to just rage at the lousy UX in finding this "troubleshooting -> thread credentials" button https://community.home-assistant.io/t/sync-thread-credentials-failed/821818/6 on the companion app
There's gotta be a better place to put that.
not here. Try feature requests

what would be the best place to ask for quick advice on HA configuration/dashboard (i don't think its long enough to justify a thread imo)
The best place would be a thread in #1284966540617449515 for HA configuration and in #1284965988642590891 for dashboards.

I just want to note out into the void, that my HA cloud backups absolutely saved my bacon this past week and made every dollar of my nabu kasa subscription instantly worthwhile, My lil' N100 that was dedicated to my home automation stuff popped randomly at 5am on morning, and once I realized what had happened (and that the machine wasn't coming back), I spun up a new HA VM on my proxmox homelab and restoring the backup took about 2 minutes, and everything came up perfectly (except frigate, because that machine doesn't have a sufficient GPU, and it was running in its own non-backed up docker container)

My new Windows laptop at work has a 1:30 battery life doing absolutely nothing. Averaging 50% CPU utilization just from background processes like anti malware, 'services', windows defender. It's impressively bad
Be able to distinguish/not trigger for them
Also posted, thanks. I haven't had much luck with posting threads/topics on here but maybe I'll get lucky this time
At least that should help lessen the blow of switching to Linux for most people. Shit battery life has been part of the experience there for years, will feel just like home
Has it? I switched to Ubuntu on my Chromebook months ago, and battery life is about the same if not better
I had only used it on desktop until then though, so maybe it was worse before
Honestly (as much as I love Linux on everything), only a few pieces of hardware and/or only quite recently.
Still worth it, for not dealing with windows' shit all these years
Lol what. Battery life on linux is so much better
When it's good, it's good. Then something changes and it's not anymore. Or (like my current Dell xps), suspend-to-ram no longer works for no particularly obvious reason and despite all attempts to resolve it
My #1 best Linux laptop experience was when I had a Sony laptop in the mid 2010s and Linus Torvalds bought nearly the same one. All my issues with it evaporated within maybe two kernel releases 😆
I was mainly talking about active usage. All the background crap running on Windows really hurts battery life. This laptop is practically unusable while traveling because of that
Comparing a work laptop to a personal laptop is a pretty poor point of reference
well to unlock the rest of the battery’s capacity you’d need to login to your ms account so they can lose your files in one drive
Why? And who's doing that?
I need to pay zucker bucks?
lol aren’t you?
No
Work laptops are almost always underpowered and have 10x the bloat in my experience
(Windows ones anyway)

I agree
17, actually
we fought them for 80 years!
It's 2025, after years of making fun of unix now we can finally make fun of windows
One of our laptops was doing this, the "solution" (at least apparently) was to manually exclude defender from scanning itself.
Exactly the kind of thing you'd expect from an OS they're proudly claiming is 30% vibe coded

I'm looking for a smart speaker or diy smart speaker solution for home assistant that actually has good speaker audio. I have yet to encounter a design that has reasonable speaker and amplification. from the reviews i've seen even the "premium" home assistant voice preview edition has a lackluster onboard speaker. I'm not looking for magic, just something that's similar to an amazon or google smart speaker without paying a ton of money... or heck, I guess even an esphome solution with a good amp and speaker would work (idk why everyone i've seen so far has used really poor ones)... anyone have any ideas?

I'll have to research why QC decided this was a useful thing to do. They tried getting into the whole DIY SBC thing 10-15 years ago and it went exactly nowhere. It was embarrassing
At the time it was an attempt to build a dev community around low cost Snapdragon chips and it kinda fell on its face
price point is gunna be a big thing I imagine.
QC wanted to stay at arm's length from the users and push support to another company and getting help turned into a bureaucratic labyrinth

Also I prefer seeing a history as well as the current value. Sometimes trends are important. Gauges are no good for this.
seeing a graph of current doesn't really seem as useful as setting up a sensor to monitor for potential faults or states
I have that too.
What I'd really like to be able to do is send the graph in a notification when there is a fault detected.
probably could using ai like gemini to generate a jpg graph from past recorded states

Any one know if you can use both a SONOFF Zigbee Bridge Pro Hub and SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus-E coordinator at the same time?
I have an area i cant string outlets to get signal to reach
confirmed chinese AI slop "2 × Gigabit Ethernet MAC"
Sounds like a question for a support channel
In general, yes. Specifics might be complicated
you would have to put the SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus-E in router mode
but #1284966617670881350 for any further questions
That wont work for my setup
well you can run two cordinators as long as they are both on diffrent channels
Both areas won’t overlap
it would be two completely diffrent setups so if you are running like z2m or zha you would need an instance for both etc
