With the new update, is it recommended we reset all entity id's to default, or leave as is?
is there anything to hold text other than a input_text? i need it to hold more than 255 characters.
EXCITING NEWS! it looks like my neighbour got a new toothbrush
Make an ai send him anonymous serial killer like threats when he forgotten to brush his teeth
What type of card is being used in this screenshot (from home-assistant.io) for things like floor lamp?
Tile card
Is there a technical reason why there aren't really any Zigbee RF transmitter/receivers?
(Well, not that I could find easily.)
What do you mean zigbee RF? Like a bridge between RF and zigbee?
Right now, I have a zigbee IR Remote Control. I can use any IR remote and learn the code, which is sent through zigbee to my HA, and I can play it back or automate things. Pretty standard.
I wish I could do the same, but with Radio Frequency remotes.
hmm I dont know, combination of RF and zigbee doesn't make much sense I guess. Anything that still uses RF is either very old or very cheap and zigbee is neither
I disagree about it not making sense, but I must be in the minority if there isn't many such products.
can you turn on/off the toothbrush?
why would you go RF if you already have zigbee?
I think he wants to use zigbee to control things that are only RF, which somewhat makes sense. But I'd just use a broadlink or esphome device.
no but i can see when they are using it and what part of their mouth they are brushing apparently
Time to learn their schedule and casually drop the exact time they go to sleep whenever you see them
"oh I love coffee, but I have to get it in before I brush my teeth around 7:31 in the morning"
will see how reliably it gives me data. may automate external siren to go off for a few seconds when they start brushing (time restricted a bit) and see how long it takes for them to notice and question it
lol
will they question me or their sanity first?
are you in an apartment?
i switched on bluetooth proxies on a bunch of shelly devices to increase the chance of catching the data... and because it looks cool on the new visualizer
nope
you could get some sort of device that taps near their bathroom wall. And whenever it turns on, just tap the wall 🤣
lol
Can your neighbourg see your property from their restroom?
If so, add a light, ideally your porch light, and automation that turns on when they brush their teeth. Don't say anything, and act like you didn't do anything.
i dont think so. specially if its the one i suspect
spotlight at them would be good 😛
the external siren for a few seconds i think might do that
hehe
i could get a drone and have it launch and fly to their window with a speaker and tell them to brush correctly
"this is the government, please ensure correct brushing, thankyou for your time"
Today we go to war with the cat. And by that I mean I made a water gun turret using a Raspberry Pi Pico and set of microphones, but that's not as catchy.
This project was made to help train my cat to not be such a monster at night by spritzing him with a bit of water if he was too loud. Using a microcontroller and a set of 3 microphones, we can...
We seriously talked about building something like that to keep the cat off the dining room table
But it would need vision since the cat is stealth af
This what she uses on you?
I considered doing that but with cabinet mounted sprayers
Tin foil for 2 weeks got the job done well enough though
Meh... looks like worldwide issues with Google Home. Nest devices and such.
My discord is doing stangr
google cloud and aws are both having issues, which means most of the internet is having issues
I didn't see anything listed on Google's page, but Ecobee had a spike on downdetector
Anyone able to select a card when choosing conditional for Mushroom Chip Card?
It doesn't let me select a card for some reason, I can only set the condition
the whole downdetector front page is lit up for me
My office is apparently also partially flooded due to a leak somewhere, so I'm calling "end of days" right now
you heard it here first, folks
Funny but politics.
Just want confirm if it's a bug or not, the UI to select card isn't showing for me
Alright, no worries
Lol a friend is in detox and he took a image of the socal room and let AI add illegal stuff.
The nurses where confused
I'm guessing "unamused" might also apply.
homekit controller integration FTW
I just happen to have the one also set up for no reason
Seems like just a liability now
wdym
Mine too and unfortunately I have the lite which doesn’t work with homekit.
I don't use it and it just consumes log space when there are connectivity issues
yes, it connects but it doesn’t stay connected. It’s a pretty widely known issue too.
And makes HA unhappy, I guess, but doesn't seem to negatively affect anything else
Weird, I haven't had that issue
Every once in a while something gets wonky but reloading the integration or just waiting a bit fixes it
so I guess what I'm trying to say is

lol exactly
Rob do you have your ecobee connected to HA via the cloud integration? Or not at all?
I know we’ve discussed this but I can’t remember
up in here yeeting job applications like I'm playing Angry Birds
yelling into the AI slop hole huh
lol
I mean.. that is where all job applications these days get fed into isn't it?
I'd like to think Open Home Foundation haven't fallen for that particular scam
but yeah, it turns out "hiring the right people" is not something companies care about, so they dump it on the slopinator expecting good results
fantastic experiment, tbh
it's kinda amazing, if you think about it:
You have no skills, so you use AI for bizdev, actual code, recruitment, marketing, customer support, probably finance if you're a true techbro
it's like a bankruptcy speedrun
Vibe Business Development
now, I'm the last person to claim that AI is outright useless. It's a fun thing to toy around with, and I often use it for my little tinkerscripts. I used Claude to write a little Powershell script that lets me switch my display output based on an MQTT topic. But holy hell does it need strict supervision.
my fav is when it goes into a loop and like "ok I see an error, let me immediately downgrade your npm packages" and before you can stop it it goes "hmm it's erroring, I should upgrade your npm packages"
I swear to god I'm getting flashbacks to my kid's toddler years
Just like anything else in life, make better choices, use a better AI.
use the best AI.. your brain
Hey! How does HA handle lights with multiple lightzones (such as the Hue Gradient Signe, it has 3) are they all considered as one? Does someone have this light and could they tell me (or others if they know how multiple lightzones in 1 light are being handled)
Hey all!
Non HA question, but I know there's a bunch of hardware geeks in here, any reason not to do a SAS drive if I already have an HBA controller..... found a deal on 14TB drives for 99 bucks(renewed(used), but all my drives are)
hmm. main downside is that if you only have one sas controller, you won't be able to read the sas drives on a different computer if something goes wrong. - at least until you get another one or replace it :)
oh thats a good point. I didn't think about
My used enterprise drives are doing just fine, only drive's I ever have issues with are shucked WD white label drives, think my used enterprise drives are better then new whitelabel drives lol
least with SAS drives I know they are enterprise drives
Is there a place where people post their entire home assistant setups?
that isn't usually helpful for other people with different devices and needs
I feel like I'm having trouble finding things that work directly with home assistant. For example I want a fingerprint front door lock, but a bunch of them seem like they also need a hub i.e. aqara
that just sounds like somethign to post in #1284966353798697001 -> Recommednations
thanks, I guess it does vary too much from house to house/person
i'll search in there
Might be worth upgrading to https://www.ebay.com/itm/127087272250?_skw=lsi+hba+it+mode&itmmeta=01JXKD52X2NXY686Y2NPZRDEC4&hash=item1d96fde13a:g:mzMAAOSwDAloE~xN&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA0FkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1fer28g%2BZ1yNWFy2V9tHK8wKsHw%2Bwbo2OYoxWElPk7dzyB7HjeJG5sX6T83oFOx8xqARWkM9SDSczWR84rIqG1RnSwD6cmyAkNvLl2fsEL%2FUkacAkmjkL7q1NbdZ2LxSC7q92AZ7RjYEniw2sfGxkAJ9Jlsv9LvJrzR%2BywUyZqUONKwSF8OWRcvZ7jPuTGjb4hwnZ5IJuNeCZl2gPvnDVy8AoRos7KSKjxk2zUqvZTkzLQOjN8lYxgZunNWozqytcA%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9iulO3sZQ and keeping my old card as a spare
Usually you don't want "wi-fi" devices. Just z-wave or zigbee is preferred am I getting that right?
Depends but I prefer Z-Wave and or Zigbee
But why, time and brain can be used to enjoy finer things in life. Not for mundane tasks. That's a waste. 😀
Well, as soon as there's an AI to do my laundry, I'm all for it
Laundry?
yeah.. if there's one thing I want AI to do, it's cleaning and handling boring tasks for me, so I can enjoy things :P
Hmmm that's not an AI issue.
I recycle my clothing molecules with a replicator
Make and model of this replicator?
and I mean, I do have robots to clean my floors now.. That was one of the better investments I've made
💯 you can also invest in getting laundry done.
With my increased cat population, that has had a dramatic effect on how clean my floors are
I wouldn't know what to do without my roborocks
I have housemates..that's close enough to cats
I wouldn't want to deal with those furballs
House rules should solve that
Do you(r help) still need to vac/mop or do you find the roborocks are enough? What model do you have?
do the most unamerican thing ever
... get off your ass and clean yourself. /s
I am OCD about dust. 2 x S7 1 x S6. Roborocks take care of night routines and some during the day.
That was 20 years ago. 😀
don't you already pay for a cleaning service?
Few months ago I implemented mopping every other night. I don't like any lines after mopping.
Yes, every week day.
blindfold would save you some money
We are here for a very short time, might as well live it.
I am in love with agents.
CPA days are numbered
Damn, sir.
Some days are laundry etc. Not cleaning all the time.
I read this to my wife and she was like “he’s either OCD or filthy” 🤣
or too rich
Trust me, OCD. Not a single family photo in the house since, frames collect dust.
Fair enough. I think I’d get sick of having random people at my place all the time
have you considered stopping doing coke?
how does the white powder work with ocd?
you sneeze then have a heart attack from the freak out?
Life has so much to offer. Why even bother 😆
@forest edge I ain't afraid to cross middle earth anymore. When wifi stops starlink kicks in. Not afraid of your black hole anymore. 😅
always knew you would come around to musk
Those states better not cross Elon
Never!!!!! I have to support my wife since she wants to hold TSLA
smart woman. investing in our future
I will get her to dump one of these days 🤣
looks like you might be in danger of getting dumped for some musk lol
Tell me about it. She hates all the vehicles but wants to hold the stock. I will never understand women
only ever need to just do 1 thing right lol
don't even think he has any competition at all.. sure the individual companies do but not the whole package.. not like bezo's is even remotely the same type of person lol
I could care less. All my friends dumped theirs so it's a matter of time.
I was a believer years ago but after "Tesla Solar" things went into a downward spiral. What a joke. Ripped everything out and redid the entire system.
Half baked inverters and engineering told me pushing 125% capacity is "normal". Oh ok then
you didn't like the solar tiles roof?
I am not that stupid.
i think there is a couple of youtube videos of people doing long term reviews of that
it's not about the inventions that flop, it's about the will to try them
jesus this species was 1000% more creative in the 70's then they have been for the past 30 some odd years
there was so much more to invent back then 🙂
just bigger dreams
Threw everything tesla in the trash and went with enphase, couldn't be happier. I still have a energy monitoring ticket that's 3 years old.
never heard of it
or else he'll take his toys and stomp home like he threatened to with the rockets.. 😛
Okay I've seen the light and I stopped doing this and instead started using caddy a few weeks ago along with split-brain DNS
less material limits had been slammed into*
I suspect that he could just decide to turn off service to Missouri
Should have done that years ago
I mean he alreayd did with the ukraine stuff.. if they dare to "fight back too hard" 😛
Tax dollars at work
elon musk: the actual welfare queen.
wonder how many starlink users are here in this state
if you find one of the 50+ something private keys trusted on the starlink hardware you can probably find out! /s
400 mil EDU grant started all this. Talking about welfare 😅😅😅😅
this criticism is probably why not many ultra rich bother trying new stuff lol
yes because we'll hurt their tiny little feelings. 😢
Tiny. Tiny feelings.
you say that as a joke... but social media has proven how fragile we all are lol
mostly rich pieces of shit actually*
rich and poor alike
a good chunk of normal people seem oddly enough to be a lot more resilient and less likely to pitch tantrums that shed hilarious money from companies.. 😄
the inabilty dosen't make them better lol
yes obviously the rich are the ubermensch.
and you will be proud to die in mines and for their wealth.
some people actually enjoy the work they do
not all of us are slaves being whipped to do something we don't wanna
I been saying it all along how silly you cali's are...
I get flack when I bring it up then you turn around and post proof and complain about it.. how typical
We like to give chances, well we can, being the 4th largest economy you know.
confused.. are you still complaing or did you 180? lol
If we didn't give a chance there will he no Tesla. Why you thought AK was going to go out on a limb to develop EVs?
what else you all going to do with that money? grow more grapes?
Grapes would've been better.
give your states welfare, usually.
😉
cali is doing both
if they weren't spending money like it was nothing they would all wither and die
Its gonna be rather funny when a hurricane next hits and a southern state is erased and doesn't get funding because its just gone.
well.. at least those tax cuts for the rich got paid for and cut your medicare!
you should just embrace the musk.. your grand and great grand kids will be learning how great he was
nah, I'm not bringing any children into this damned world. 🙃
esp not with the inevitable child labor force that will be built in the next 4 years to replace all the migrants that tax dollars have gone into harassing.
it isn't politics anymore. it's history. 😉
Uh... guys, I think I broke it.
Z2M windfront frontend was short lived lol
I saw in some HA release log that something was done for 'immich' integration. Just out of curiosity checked what it is, installed that service to my file server and I'm so in love with that! Awesome services which are unknown until you accidently crash into them.
lol, that's nice. Saw it in the Open Home Foundation listing
I'd love to work there tbh. Probably need to flesh out my programming skills first though.
mhh, I need to remember to do myinternet reimbursement request
wonder just how big that smart home budget is considering a lot of smart home stuff is not cheap
well just move to Europe :D
Upgrades!
Honestly, at the rate the US is going...
that's one reason why I'm moving
Not so easy for me to move, but we'll see if the shit hits the fan.
Lol, playing with Hermes3 LLM via HA and I just had a conversation that had to include "Are you sure?"
It tried telling me 950 hPa was 33.5 inHg.
Which would be a bit... spicy.
inHg
moving to europe.. gross
Radar LOVE!
not gonna lie. I thought he was dead.
"The Schwartz Awakens in 2027." Check out the Spaceballs 2 announcement teaser for this upcoming sequel to the iconic sci-fi comedy adventure film.
same, turns out he's very much alive and also 98 years old
Dang those are good benefits, but also for node.js which is not my specialty
Maybe they'll need another embedded c dev at some point
FYI, the parental leave is below the minimum in NL. Here you would get 16 weeks
Here it's only 12 weeks required, but I'm not surprised it's higher across the pond
WAT? Those are good?

Here it is 40 weeks for both parents, 15/25 father mother usually, but you are free to distribute
We also get 28 weeks from the company
The 28 weeks is global btw, even my US colleagues get it
but don't you have to apply for a breeding permit? and a maximum of 10 norwats may breed within a year
Yes, but attractive women like myself are in the front of the line
is "attractive" one of those words like the swedish word for final?
Yes, @last cedar is a final / empty
So that's how you get good benefits here, get a remote job from a foreign company that supports their employees
Lol
But we are a US company
Lol the main contractor on my contact doesn't even let you combine PTO with paternal leave
Luckily I'm a subcon which means I have more vacation and have an easier time taking it
Lol
That's a weird way of doing stuff, here it is the same for everyone
I'm only a subcon because of my address too, Rather than a part of the main contractor
I can confuse people left and right with how it is to be a contractor here
yea. I get the better of hte legal minimum and GOOG's global policy (which is US aligned) which makes for a quite nice set of benefits
I had skipped over the 2025.5 and just got hit with that paper-item-icon-color change. which is still being a problem but anyway diving into wtf was going on realized the custom button card is no longer being maintained. that is scary!
that has to be the best card ever made
I don't Petro will let it die
I moved over to mushroom template and it does most of what I need
@last cedar
I think this is also a sign of the coming apocalypse:
https://abcnews.go.com/US/hammerhead-shark-falls-sky-disc-golf-south-carolina/story?id=122773035 Hammerhead shark falls from sky onto disc golf course in South Carolina - ABC News
we made the mistake of having a Sharknado watch party
it was fun for about 5 minutes, then everybody was just up in my living room watching a shit movie
isn't there any sort of HA general channel? I mean for talk or questions outside of threads
hey everyone, is there a channel where we can discuss about issue ?
i saw the different suport channel just over this one but i'm not sure on how to use them
I had to open dev tools in chrome, click on network then select disable cache then hit ctrl + F5 in order for it to finally clear the cache to fix the the state-icon-color thing
did empty cache + hard reload not work?
Yeah I understand how threads work: was merely asking. Personally find exclusive threads somewhat similar to premature structuring. But preferences surely differ.
ok thx but i can''t find my pb
next to your jelly
Or in your soldering station
You need to post.
gotta keep training. You'll find it
i wonder if someone will update the elgato integration to support the stream deck now that elgato is releasing a network dock for normal decks
tbh i believe that the potential would be huge for a smart home
be the someone you hope someone else will be
i mean tbh i wish i could do smth like this but i have no clue how to program anything in python i only know just a bit of lua
that's how many people turn into a programmer, to fix something they use
no. it was being very stubborn
I mean, I'm learning C/C++ properly now so I can build a z-wave device because the lack of existing tools is lame.
silicon labs?
I dont think so
Using the ZGM230S chip. Don't care about A vs B variant, since security is really irrelevant for a swamp cooler controller.
HA can connect to bluetooth stuff right?
all in the docs: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/bluetooth/
Not really sure where to post / ask about this. Did a lot of online searching and cursory search through the discord here. Ive tried arp-scan and network scanner integrations to no avail. Is there a method to display device ip+mac's of anything connected on specific interfaces to a card?
I was going to have my host do a cron arp scan to file and then mqtt that out but that feels convoluted. I still havent wrapped my head around parsing MQTT as a sensor, i've set one thing up, but that was with a lot of assistance from an ai.
so what, like these things? https://www.amazon.com/s?k=ESP32&crid=RE6UFM77AMI8&sprefix=esp32+%2Caps%2C130
Amazon.com: ESP32
there's a whole list on that page
please read through that page and post in #1284966617670881350 with questions
yeah I got to the esphome page which is why I was asking. I was just confused because it had prongs so you could connect it to a pi or something
m5stack make some premade stuff that can be used as a BT proxy and is more of a off the shelf package. but move to a support channel if you want further advice
gotcha
ESP32's are dirt cheap, not the greatest range, but cheap enough and versatile enough that you could come up with a lot of coverage solutions if you were clever with their usage.
I'm trying to simplify my dev workflow, I've been hella lazy lately and have ChatGPT just generate code for me in canvases but it eventually just bogs down or I get lost in the files...
I've been trying to get Copilot Chat working w/ vscode-server as a first pass but this has been a bust (I could get copilot but not chat biggest hurdle here was it seemed you had to figure out what version of vscode-server was compatible with the two Copilot extensions, ultimately it was just too much work).
My plan b seems more flexible (I could use Cursor, Flexpilot, etc)...
Have any of you successfly stored your config in Github and gone the route of syncing it/deploying from there?
Any resources to look at?
yeah all I'm trying to do is connect a bluetooth meter to wifi so HA can see the info. I'm new so it looks like there's 8 million micro versions of the boards and if you get the wrong one it just won't work at all so I'm pulling out my hair lol. I'm not a dev so all this stuff is confusing
if you go to the channels and roles section you can get the dev role. this will allow you to see the dev channels. you might have some better luck asking in there
To clarify I'm just doing yaml configuration using the LLM.
I'm honestly surprised this isn't being pursued, LLM voice assistant is neat and all to interact with devices but being able to ask it to create/edit config seems super powerful, I spend more time tinkering with that.
there is some stuff being looked at for more integrated stuff for llms helping write automations i beleive
When you say "the boards" you mean esp32 board, or ? Any of the esp32s should work really, what meter is it?
it's the victron smart shunt. I was going to use it to monitor my batteries but it's bluetooth only and pretty far away
Looks like this is what you need: https://github.com/Fabian-Schmidt/esphome-victron_ble
Its been several years since I have deployed any ESPHome solutions, but I remember they were beginner friendly for the most part.
this is the easy part. the hard part is finding the correct ESP32 hardware
litrally any esp32
Ive been using esp32-c3 super mini's alot lately. Really diggin em.
AH m5 stack hw really has come down in price
I typically use #1284966353798697001 for this type of convo— anyone else?
Ya'll want to take this support chat out to #the-workshop ? (For DIY stuff).
yeah
@tidal bronze like the new promo you are all pushing out. https://youtu.be/BtvB_gtjlmY?si=w6I8X_JcHEudGcI0

these are boom times for liquor stores 🙂

Landed in NY 8:30 AM, 4 more hours to LA. Wife thinks I am losing my marbles 😅
Pretty sure you had to have some to begin with
Like how it works? lol
How many I got through every year.
oh well look at the type of job lol
especially if you are using a service that essentially subcontracts people out
Well it's Rover
yea so that type of job already doesn't exactly pay much and on top of that you got a middleman taking out their cut lol
$38 for 30 min is bad?
anyone doing that to try and pay bills is ultimately going to end up badly. only those who do it as a hobby, as something they enjoy doing and has nothing to do with money would be worth a shit
38 isn't thier cut lol
I have no idea what the cut is but surely 3x better than uber and lyft
not necessarily
Average LA uber revenue 6 to 7k a week. Rover better they say. I don't know soup to nuts.

hi. where would i go to report a bug with HAOS on multiple networks?
Want to see what issues are open (or were open and are now closed)?
- The core (backend) - for HA itself, and integrations
- The frontend (UI) - for cards and display issues
- The Supervisor
- HAOS
- The documentation
Don't forget to check for any alerts
If you think an upgrade broke something then:
- Downgrade to the previous version to check if it works correctly there
- If it does then change the
loggersettings for that integration todebug - Upgrade to the new version again
- Look in the logs for errors
- Open an issue, following the template provided and including the log information
It's definitely a bug, I'm trying to browse source to see how HAOS is working. It's related to the fact that I think you're causing asymmetric routing in my network, because you're missing ip rules to send reply packets back out of the originating interfaces.
i'm not sure if you're relying on network manager to do this properly (which it may be, but also may not?) so I'm trying to find out
oh, multi-homed server?
yes
is there anyway to get to the actual host layer? i want to inspect the network manager configuration, but i can't seem to get there 😦
i have no idea how else i would debug this problem
NM should have nothing to do with it. What kinda traffic do you see going out the wrong interface?
replies
doesn't use HAOS but does stupid things at work
i've had multihomed servers for 20 years, i know how they work 😄
ICMP? UDP? Shouldn't be TCP since that attaches the IP with the 4-tuple
but i switched to HAOS because the venv setup i've had for the past 10 is apparently no longer supported.
you need rules in linux to force the TCP to go back out of the incoming interface. without them, it'll send on whichever is the "lowest metric"
which is wrong on my HAOS, and I have no way to change it
and i can't add ip rules either, because i'm in a docker container 😦
interestingly, i seem to be in the root network namespace, so i can see the NICs and their bindings and the ip rules
yea, lowest metric with the correct route
unfortunately, there's two routes to a couple of things on my network, because i have imperfect network separation.
(specifically, my desktop computer)
this means ssh and a few other things, i connect to the "proper" DMZ interface - the one that everything should go to, and it replies on the LAN interface instead, because it's listening on the LAN for a few gadgets that are connected on the LAN (thanks, mdns discovery for not propagating).
opnsense sees the "asymmetric" packets from HAOS on the LAN and kills the persistent state inside itself after 30 seconds and RIP ssh terminal
(rather, it actually fails to see the asymmetric reply packets from HAOS)
interestingly, i think this is also affecting a couple of devices on the WIFI because WIFI can see the LAN. So they're glitching in and out of existence.
so what i want to do, is inspect the actual host level network config. no idea how to jailbreak out of the docker onto the root
yeah. it's killing the car charger. the connectivity is lost every few minutes because of asymmetric routes
Sad charger noises
honestly sounds like an issue that needs fixing on the infra level, not per host
Have you tried using DHCP 121 options (https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc3442) to roll out more specific routes than 0.0.0.0/0?
This document defines a new Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) option which is passed from the DHCP Server to the DHCP Client to configure a list of static routes in the client. The network destinations in these routes are classless - each routing table entry includes a subnet mask. [STANDARDS-TRACK]
that'd require me to use dhcp to serve the static addresses to HAOS
Yes
i think it might be easier to abandon HAOS to be honest. This has been nothing but pain
if you come from core, just use docker 🤷
yea
right now i just want my charger to work again.
i think the routing weirdness broke my car charger. i had to go to the breaker and powercycle it for it to come back again. heh.
network connected EVSE?

Ask in a shitpost channel, get a shitpost answer
hey its not 100% shitposting, just like...... 99.9%
Yeah there is mental support
If it was pink you had me convinced
if you just do a search in hardware you will see that the question has been asked multiple times there quite recently.
How rude!
And yet…
Just dropping truth bombs...
Do you swear to drop only and nothing but the truth?
I am moved and confused!
I am wondering whether it's ok to track wife's proximity to home in ft or miles?
Depends on if you prefer feet or miles.
Hilariously the documentation is inaccurate. https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/core/entity/sensor/
Does not acknowledge the existence of feet as a unit.
Kilometres, metres, centimetres, millimetres, miles, nautical miles, yards, inches.
But all of this said, I suggest you buy a navy blue blazer with brass buttons, a white hat, start insisting everyone calls you "captain", and switch to nautical miles
Final answer, and I will not be taking questions
those are internal units, you can have separate units for the frontend
TBH I'm more outraged about centimetres being legitimised as a unit
That unit needs to go away, the sooner the better
im outraged yards and inches exist in the codebase 🤢
It costs more to make a centimeter than they're worth. Like the penny
the fr*nch came up with it, blame them
I agree that yards are dumb, seems like no one here even knows a basic representation of it (even in America 🤣)
'cups' as used in recipes is even worse. WHAT CUP? WHAT SIZE? HOW FULL?
yeah that annoys me too
Fahrenheit makes the most sense out of any American unit IMO
More accurate temperature readings without diving into decimals
Celsius is how water feels, kelvin is how the universe feels, Fahrenheit is how humans feel
you know many humans that feel great at 100 fahrenheit?
It's hot but not cooked. That's the point
what about rankine
awww the FFF system doesn't have a dumb temperature to go with the rest of the dumb units
good thing that inches aren't based on met-- whats that? the inch is based on metric measurements?
🙃
dumb ass measurement..
Oops, all Metric!
Lol it's the length of a knuckle
Pimped my hp stream 14.
Like Jerry?
Car House
just saw reports of..
the LAPD and LA sheriffs departrment shooting at each other
hilarious.
bit too trigger happy with the rubber bullets and tear gas it seems.

wild
it is so weird that US Americans actually know kilometres but for some idiotic reason they call it clicks
What's wrong with centimeters? Seems pretty useful for stuff too small for meters but too big for millimeters
You misunderstand, they're talking about the centimeter's evil twin, the centimetre
Nah, human would be:
bloody cold, cold, comfortable, hot, bloody hot
No numbers requried
I half want to cycle a bit and get some ice cream
but I also don't want to be outside in today's temperatures...
centimeters is american english, that's a paradox and shouldn't be allowed 🙄
Also it is called metric system, not meteric system, that already implies that it's wrong 🤷🏼
yea, that's why those devices used to measure things are called metres
|| I was just making a joke ||
LOL, i spend too much time talking to americans so use meter without even thinking
You're not going to find normal people on the street that use that. I suspect that only military types would use 'clicks'
Klick is actually the spelling since it was slang
lots of "reasons" why and when it came about but I think the old map and compass reason makes the most sense
It's Meter in German
So I'm just using that in English as well 🤷

but they weren't done!
Someone was too trigger happy for the second part.
we'll never know how it ends
now we'll never know the ending
what happened
Nothing.
sure
Interesting, it's metri in Finnish so would have guessed it was something similar since the languages have some commonalities
I'd still call that similar^^
Ei perkele
Does HASS have any support for hardware 2fa like a yubikey?
um, mm, meters, and kms all you need. cm is completely skipped, at least in industry.
Not directly. The Yubico Authenticator app, locked with a Yubikey, can be used for storing TOTP.
HA auth is sadly very normi home user
I need to look into that 3rd party OIDC/OAUTH2 plugin again at some point...
In EE we still need inches because of 'mericans
yeah but in industry it's only inches
there's no goofy conversions because we don't use anything else
construction with metric has to be what people who go to hell experince
fwiw my american company only uses metric.
most of the medical industry is like that
areospace, defense, and auto is inches in america
residental & construction is all inches & feet, but they are weirdos
Everyone with a brain uses metric. But many years ago they thought it would be a great idea to set pitch in multiples of 0.1 inch and changing something like that is impossible now
as someone who uses both pretty much daily, they both have their uses.
As someone who also does, no
🤷♂️ metrology says otherwise
Thank you! I'm admittedly nervous to connect things like a monitored home alarm without the hardware key... Is the app method just as secure? Wether I use the yubikey app or maybe something like aegis?
oh no, I've seen mm spaced ones...
they are annoying
nah. The only measure that has value besides habit is tsun
people don't tend to give us credit. american's inherently have to learn both systems to the point where it's kind of like riding a bike in some areas. you see people from countries that only use the metric system and see them struggle with imperial is kind of funny
liquids is like the worst
but is it a meter stick or a yard stick
Whoop yo ass stick
yea, imperial volume units are ass
After the firebase outage I realized that I'm pretty dependent on notifications from the HA app. Anyone here use something as backup in case firebase fails?
we should ban imperial units on the discord server for the same reason we ban other languages than English, most people don't understand it and it makes it difficult for moderators. Like how the hell am I gonna give support if they write they have problems with a device that is 10 squarehedgehogs and 3 bald eagles away from their Home Assistant.
I've seen it. And that would work with oauth-proxy. I'm mainly concerned about the app with that
The Header Authentication Provider is injected into the providers, before the other authentication providers.
This ensures that Header auth is tried first, and if it fails the user can still use username/password.
yea, so I still need full user management in HA and keep passwords in sync (not that I ever actually change it), and can't reliably use weird auth on the IDP
HA isn't intended to delegate users like that. so.. 🤷♂️
have you tried the ntfy integration?
yea. it'll never capture the enterprise market like that
it' called Home Assistant and not Enterprise Assistant for a reason 😂
I wonder what the instance with the most amount of user accounts is 🤨
I mean I set one up in an office to handle the smart stuff in the office fine.. 🤷♂️
but its mostly just automation management.
yea, we considered using HA to manage some smart sockets for power saving
but then never got around to it
so why does an input boolean return 'on' and not true or something
the system manages itself, it doesn't really need users to poke it.
because its a 'switch'
yeah but why a string. wouldnt it make sense for it to be a bool
also how does openwakeword operate
because frontend facing things.. are like physical objects more than anything else?
same reason locks/deadbolts are "locked" or "unlocked" not "true" or "false"
by reading the wiki.
i meant how do i like make it work cause i set the wake word but where is the function it doesn't work if i say ok nabu
All states in HA are strings
but why

broaden your knowledge base that's how.
Please move further discussion about this to #1284966582375813201
Says you. Hahahhahaha
It's like learning a new language
it's not about knowledge, I know what a mile and an inch is, not how much a foot though, it's about wanting to do math. Like for example if you write in Dutch or German or something like that, sure, everyone could use a translator, but you are putting the burden on everyone else. Instead you could just translate once into english when you post. Same goes for obscure units that only few people use, I will not bother converting it, I will just ignore it. If you want to broaden the amount of people that can potentially help, then use a language that most people understand and use a unit system that most people understand.
It's like learning Dutch. Great if you're here, useless everywhere else. And also you'll be fine here if all you speak is English 😂
Ha, like finnish is similar to anything except Hungarian
but you already know what a "square" hedgehog is and what bald eagles are. That's more than the "click click click" I get when someone doesn't speak english so it's not a fair comparison right out of the gate.
and poor dm is completely ignored.
most tape measures in the US don't even have metric reading on them and to try and to "force" metric as the only unit of measurement for everything would limit this discord automagically
what? are you implying people know your silly units?
it's just the third root of the liter
if I were say something is roughly 3 raccons long.. would you have an ida how long that is?
no
@last cedar found your next target
doesn't answer the question though 🤷
And what about hm?
... I'm seriously considering setting up a mini mqtt client on my laptop so I can have HA mute it when I go to bed
what have I become?
surely there's easier ways of doing that...
automated? I wouldn't know one
nm
Hey folks, where is the best place to find Frigate help?
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping for something off-site because the majority of those posts have no replies.
aside from the doc's https://docs.frigate.video/ all you can pretty do is google for what you need specifically or I hate to admit it, but ai like chatgpt/gemini is not horrible at helping ||really does all the work for you||
gemini gpt deepseek
No more messing with HA dashboards and access control. NR to the rescue.
do folks ever discuss custom components here (wondering what the deal with circadian lighting / adaptive lighting / other forks maintenance is)
That's for #1284966582375813201
Any recommendations for a cheap but solid z-wave door sensor? Currently looking at 2nd gen Ring contact sensors that come out to about $15 a piece
#1284966617670881350 -> Recommendations
question i got one of those aquara temperature and humity sensors, setup with zigbee
why is it draning the battery so fast, i expected this to last 6 months not weeks
the controller is around 1 meter or less away from it atm
#1284966617670881350 or #1284966353798697001 kinda question
Is it in a freezer?
Cold kills the batteries fast.
Also is it blocked by a lot of metal. They have to use more battery to get signal.
It says C not F 😄
there is a wooden door, between the sensor and controler
Didn't see your 2nd post.
a CRAPPY wooden door, ikea like
That shouldn't cause it
I have had a few fail on humidity, funny thing the cheaper Tapo sensor is still humming along
I tried 2 of those Aqaras for the shower humidity, then grabbed a Tapo after the 2nd failure
I need to get 4 more for my tiny appartment, as there is a big diffrence in temperature in each area
I thought the battery life was supposed to be 2 years on those
Have 2 in fridges and they do drain quicker
Yeah, I read that some say it stabilizes around 60-70% so I am giving it a week more before replacing the battery, or maybe seeing if this thing is z-wave compatible
Not a support question but something I’m wondering about, Homeassistant usually was used to test upcoming versions of thread/matter right? Hence being the first to get updates
But Apple seems to be on the latest spec and my skyconnect on same firmware for a while 🤔 is there a way for me to work out a planned date for when it’d be 1.4 aswell?
Please post in #1284966617670881350
Is it bad that I've become really lazy with ChatGPT and get it to write all my templates?
yes
Nah. There are only a few people who know how to write templates and the rest of us just copy what they make
Chatgpt got me this far
I have yaml configs 18k lines long generated with phl
Hey now, I resent that, I threw shit at the wall until something stuck thank you very much.
Cats rarely move faster or cause more damage than when they get tangled up in a plastic bag. The scary, noisy thing is literally following right behind them
gemini is not that great with HA jinja limitations
The issue is the distance between the keyboard and chair
A lot of the online answers that I see regarding non-HA Jinja involve adding Python functions that you then call within Jinja, which we cannot do
basically, adding custom stuff to the environment
if I can't figure out how to do something, that's invariably the answer I find online
I only encountered few issues but copypasta error and fixed. Nothing to write home about.
some of the stuff it suggested I change in xsisting template sensors I tried to see if it could improve causes security errors in HA
was good stuff
My goal is to spend least amount of time tinkering with stuff. Done it too long. When there is 90% help why bother
tinkering is part of the fun
it's the difference between a hobby and a job
After 2 decades shit gets old.
you just got old
Lmao. Honestly I am digging for things to do with HA. Most of the AI stuff are just chats, and they stop at chats.
jarvis isn't here yet
Unless Jarvis keep it pretty silent, no thank you. Don't want to interact in any way.
your going to be like those funny clips they add in movies and tv shows where something happens to the butler or maid or whatever and the rich ditz stands there dumbfounded as to why their drink hasn't magically appeared yet
What I really want is an agent to go through guest calender, set house modes, email access codes for stay duration. Ask few questions about what they like for the temps to be like etc. Then that interaction is also out of the way.
Gonna try some n8n juice and see where that goes
you obviously want nothing to do with them
You then don't know how valuable is alone time. 😆 I see too mamy people
you should watch that movie Multiplicity for some ideas how to solve your issues
I'm updating my home assistant setup for the first time since installation last year. What can I expect?
(note: I have ADHD, and no dedicated HA display.. out of sight out of mind oooops)
Currently doing this. we shall see!
It already fixed HACS that was broken so I guess what can go wrong? (knocks on all the wood in the office.)
I wish my phone data connection would decide which music streaming option works. Some days, I can't get ultrasonic to move beyond "buffering" while streaming MA over snapcast works fine, other days it's the exact opposite scenario, where MA is constantly skipping and pausing playback while ultrasonic has no issues. PICK ONE
just a quick question: is this "Poll interval" A measure of polls per minute? or 10 minutes between polls? the readme doesn't seem to specify.
Between. That's the definition of an interval
Right. I had to look it up. I understand what interval means... I get it.. It just wasn't clear what the number was. Eventually I figured it out on my own. it's the number of seconds between polls.
well that explains why the pc shut off randomly
I've had that happen to a power plug that I overloaded
pc had randomly shut off a couple of times then when it happened i heard a relay click so i pulled it out and it was doing that
shortly after there was a garlic butter incident and now i am on my backup keyboard
its not a great day tbh
hoping a cleaning and replacing of specific switches will resolve the keyboard issue but gotta wait for tomorrow for new switches
was inside food and when i cut into it, it made a break for freedom
its a tragic comedy of chaos this evening
i am being punished for being on a "finish off some projects before starting new ones" kick
I have been thinking about a nixie clock with HA and WLED support
thats cool
I have had a set of 6x IN18 bulbs for almost 10 years sitting in some closet
Nixie clocks are cool, I have one with a motion sensor that turns off the tubes if no one is in the room
the tape helps keep the high voltage inside
Etched those too. Using UV resist method
small 3d printer, no real high voltages involved. 😛
Weak, build a Cerberus instead.
Context if you're not familiar:
https://www.3dnatives.com/en/cerberus-open-source-3d-printer-021020205/
I have a feeling a 500C nozzle does indeed take "high voltage"
These are Philips nixies btw. Quite rare. About €100 each nowadays
...So you're saying steal it, strip it, and sell the parts.
... No?
even 24V can turn an aluminum hotend block to slag
I mean, depends on what you consider high
I was assuming it runs straight 120v. Maybe it doesn't. I never read that far in the docs.
I mean my new hotend (havent installed it yet) does step up to a 48v heater.
it probably doesn't.
most printers don't send mains current to the toolheads.
Well yeah, but most printers don't do 500C either.
Nixie is about 180V
my printer could also bring my hotend to 500c.
do I?
No.. because I have no need for that shit.
Right now the only high-performance filament I have to mess with is POM.
which is fun and dangerous in its own way.
Yeah, it's... a thing.
And also an absolute fucking bastard to print so I've heard.
It is
I mainline ABS
I printed a heatset insert press out of ASA, but otherwise I avoid ABS/ASA.
https://visionminer.com/products/htn-cf25
But I have a spool of this (apparently now discontinued) filament ready to go..
Essentium HTN-CF25 (high-temperature nylon) is a polyamide-based chemistry with a 25% carbon fiber reinforced core. HTN-CF25 is the highest strength and stiffness material in the Essentium portfolio. This material also boasts easy processing and excellent thermal resistance. This material is designed for tooling applications, high-strength/stiff...
you just need to learn how to contain all that extra flavor son. /s
Lick it
nah.
but its doing what I want which is to keep the VOCs contained.
I printed some flanges and bought a hose to redirect VOCs out the window, but I haven't actually installed that yet.
I have an X1C though, it's not quite "sealed"
most printers aren't.
I havent setup a vent system (yet) but I do plan to at some point.
This is true. I assumed you're using a homemade enclosure based on appearance.
its a voron 2.4 its enclosed. 😛
I need to lube the lead screws in mine. I haven't been printing because I'm overdue to do that and I'm being lazy.
I mean.. somewhat?
lead screws are somewhat self lubricating with the nuts usually
POM is POM.. and brass ones tend to have lead in it..
I think it's more to prevent damage from where the bed interfaces with it than the ends.
Well, them. Three lead screws.
bed interface? 🤔
BambuLab X1C. Three vertical lead screws to move the bed up and down.
... yikes just searched that up
they double constrain the lead screws.
amateurs.
😐
yeah; needlessly double constrained
learned my lesson on that in the past already.
I'm not actually sure it is in practice.
it is, though
it has bearings on the top and the bottom.
also googling a bit..
Oh, that's what you mean. I thought you meant the rod next to the screw.
they seem to be missing the entire point of the tri point bed screws.
yeah; most leadscrews are not in any way actually straight because they're not precision devices.
so if you bearing constrain them on both ends.. they can bind up sometimes
made worse if the leadscrew nut is screwed down too tightly (ideally they should sort of "float" on their mounts)
look a comically expensive hotend. 🤣 (yet still cheaper/better than mosquito stuff..)
(for good reason mind you I know the guy(s) who worked to make it and such..)
.. still need to mod my printer to use it mind you.
ew did someone say they put a pc on a "smart" surge protector?
yeah it was cheap at the time and i figured it was fine as a surge protector, and then down the line i started using another of the sockets to turn a fan on and off.
new single plug surge protector coming tomorrow to go on a regular socket strip and fan is moved to a smartplug
@tidal bronze do you wish this was your stove? https://youtu.be/9OvibwfflDg?si=_OI3BDaIgEQs0Tb6&t=109
Today Architectural Digest is welcomed by Sofía Vergara to tour her stunning home in Los Angeles. The ‘Griselda’ star had quite a challenge on her hands when first acquiring her palatial Beverly Park mansion–according to her, it resembled a castle you might find in Transylvania. But with the expert help of interior designer, Ohara Davies-...
UK 2 gang zigbee socket are on offer ATM https://www.smart-secure.co.uk/product/aone-zigbee-twin-switched-socket/
ah yes all that "not stupid" plug 😛
Atleast the most use 230 and you just need a vacation plug.
of course; in this case the EU plugs are safer in every way.. 🙃
since they tend to have plastic sheathing on the plug prongs until its deep inside and etc..
Every time I see those US plugs were you could touch the pins while inserting them, I think how fucking dangerous that is. But then I remember that it's only 110V, not 230V. Still dangerous, but less deadly.
Now im thinking of the xrated 9ties music clip plug me in plug me in
Its the amps that kill you.
sure, unless people in the US have lower body resistance 🤔
Can we blame people for having 100 ohm less than normal people?
Whoeps
there was a challenge involving dropping pennies there I think right--
Aside from the missing ground pin on this specific plug, what else is fundamentally different about the plugs/outlets you use?
... have you never seen EU plugs that are protected?
exposed live contacts are impossible on our plugs
this.
style of stuff
or round ones with the same plastic sheathing on the live pins on the exposed areas
better
either/or yeah
also they have full-home GFCI usually..
and panels that aren't pieces of shit too. 😛
yeah the good old times were you could kill someone with the hairdryer in the tub. Today it's impossible because the breakers cut the electricity so fast that nothing happens 🙄
don't worry if its america just use an extension cord! because apparently its not required to have ground fault protection everywhere because.... reasons..?
What is that? A sprinkler?
bidet
Odd question. If you have say 20 of the same device, is there any way to push a firmware update to all of them at once?
I don't need to yet, I was just puzzling over how to design something and found myself curious.
Z-wave devices, if it matters.
not that I'm aware of, but that would be useful for me, too.. I guess you could build a script that iterates through each device
Suppose that's true. I may have to consider that eventually. For now the devices don't exist yet, so it'd be a bit of a cart before the horse situation. :P
yah.. I have 16 devices currently.. it does look like there's a Firmware entity for each
I figure OTA updates are probably desirable with homemade devices, since the odds of me not fucking up something are slim, and I don't want to have to remove the devices once installed. Especially since these ones go in the ceiling.
oh yeah.. OTA updates are required. I'm not re-wiring all my switches again, lol
thankfully the OTA update process does work well with z-wave, it's just a bit time consuming, since you have to do one at a time
zwave not have a thing like Z2M for zigbee?
it might.. there's zwave-js-ui that I use to manage my devices.. I haven't done a bunch to automate things though
Far as I know it's just zwave-js and zwave-js-ui
But yeah, in my case I'm building two z-wave devices. One to control my swamp coolers, and one to open and close the ceiling-mounted vents.
That way I can have proper zone-based smart cooling.
I haven't yet decided if I'm going to install them in the vents in the 20' tall ceiling though. Getting up there is... tricky. Guess I could pay someone else to get up there though.
(slanted ceiling, vents are near the peak)
I should finish up my DIY window openers
it's all horizontal sliding windows, so a linear motor will do the trick.. just gotta get the controller worked out and such
I have horizontal sliding windows, but they're vinyl frames and they bind up super easy.
I took out all my sliding windows once and cleaned the track/wheels, and WD40ed them. They were awesome for a while
Automatic windows would make the swamp cooler device set perfect though. Swamp coolers need windows cracked open to vent the warmer air.
Not sure about wd40 on ours, but maybe a shitload of graphite powder.
yeah, maybe I'll do that next. Some are starting to get sticky again
they're frickin' heavy
Windows tend to be
and big and annoying
Wonder what graphite powder costs in bulk.
sudden reminder of my old boss going on a rather long rant about "wd40 isn't a lubricant"
WD40 is not a long-term solution to anything, it's only meant for cleaning, and freeing stuck things. If it needs to be an aersosol you want silicone or teflon spray
Ha! Snap
A pound for $23. Not bad.
horizontal sliding windows suck
WD40 silicone or dry lube should do it.
@forest edge will this order work in middle earth?
I mean the food sure.. understanding hippie.. thats a different story
pretty sure the dude outside the car taking the order would have punched the guy in the car a quarter of the way in that video if that was here
Where's the ♥️?
next time try an actual lubricant.. 😛
tis what she proclaimed
PTFE dry lubricant would be best probably.
I dont say graphite because graphite is an absolute fucking fuck that will stain everything black if it gets anywehre.
be mindful of what you use. some of those dry lubricants will kill your cats
or take the window out and replace the sliding/rolling element to solve the problem..
I'll only use all natural cat snot
replace the windows with the one's that tilt out at the top
Few months ago I found a site that broke down specific devices for home assistant and in particular gave them a rating on how local they were, now I can't find it. Anyone know what site I'm thinking of?
Finally
There is a beta update for the Shelly matter plugs
It fixes all the pesky shit
They work great now, especially with the in built memory so it doesn't always reset the statistics
so it matters?
it doesn't now
Also the outdoor plug is very nice
They should have made 3kw variants tho
you refering to the tp link one?
yuck tp link
I still use the dual outlet one thats wifi. works every year without fail
I have one of the three outlet tp link ones under the house, runs two strings of decorative lights and a couple of IR floodlights. Works good enough
they were better when you could force local only but eh they still default to it i guess
All of mine are old enough ("Kasa" branded) that they still are
never updated?
Nope. Set up in about 2020 and never touched since
because I unplug mine every year and they go months without power, keeping them with the original firmware wasn't an option since you have to use the app to set the ssid
Yep... 4 year old firmware
hey all have a question about updating SMLIGHT core, which channel is the best place to ask?
If you mean the Zigbee/Thread radio devices by SMLIGHT: #1284966617670881350
Pro tip for anyone whoi wants a good cheap door sensor
IKEA PARSOLL is amazing
and $12
Super easy to setup and takes 1 AAA battery
also seems to last forever on that single AAA battery
I'm using IKEA LADDA batteries in mine.
I had issues with one of them randomly not sending state updates anymore and took a hammer to it lol
The other two seem to be fine, although they don't handle quickly opening/closing/opening well
yea quickly opening and closing is a bit of a weak spot
It would work for a few weeks and then stop working until power cycling it
It seems like they have firmware updates to fix a lot of these things
My Hue motion sensors are chewing through battery
They're really nicely made, I'll give them that, and they're even IP43 rated (or something similar, I can't remember)
They really are for $12
I want to try an IKEA motion sensor but the reviews are mixed.
I only just got my ecobee presence sensors into home assistant last night.
I'll be honest, I'm not sure how I should use them.
Hopefully via homekit controller
yea, I'm just trying to think of what to use them for
other than AC control
I also need to get more for my halls
lol
dual zone ac too
don't be impressed. they're just PTAKs
PTAC?
@scenic radish so, any ideas for automations?
Ah gotcha lol
I'm basically all hue bulbs
hue remotes
hue sensors
some ikea bulbs and sensors
Hard to say without knowing what you want to accomplish
That's the issue, I don't know either.
I have my HA config on GitHub though if you're looking for inspiration
So far I'm just using it to save power
Although it's a bit out of date
My Home Assistant configuration. Contribute to Tediore/My-HASS-config development by creating an account on GitHub.
I found it
I don't get the appeal of Zigbee2MQTT vs ZHA
ZHA was just plug and play
Decoupled from HA, so updates to it don't depend on HA updates. Possibly more support for non-spec-compliant devices
Because Mqtt is nice
MQTT rocks
But now you have to setup another daemon and a broker and configure HA to work with it
Yes
vs ZHA just works
Which is E Z P Z and you can use MQTT for so much more
But I run Mqtt either way already
What can MQTT do more than ZHA?
ZHA has been amazing
I just wish I could root my Hue Hub and run HA on there to take advantage of the Zigbee and Bluetooh modules
Too bad it's a 512mb ram box thing
it would run like shit lol
to be fair my latest automation is a bit slow
comparing MQTT and ZHA are like comparing apples and oranges (unless you mean zigbee2mqtt vs ZHA)
it's a giant option statement with tons of triggers
there's nothing wrong with ZHA. really just a matter of preference
I thought Zigbee2MQTT was so you could use multiple hosts to forward Zigbee devices that are too far again from your HA server
Like a Pi Zero acting as a relay with a Zigbee module in the far part of your home connected to ethernet just to act as a relay
that's one use case
I know some people have homes big enough that Zigbee can't route
i don't envy those people lol
I kinda do
My condo is 1100sqf
but it's also my first ever condo
Ok, so lets say I want to get Lutron switches
Does Cassu Naba make Z Wave modules?
Is the Cassu Naba zigbee module worth it?
The attenna seems tiny
I'm using a Sonoff
It's Nabu Casa
I just woke up
