The performance of Windows 11 especially is a big old pile of poos compared to older versions.
I've been fighting with it at work for the machines we use for live CCTV displays. The one I have next to my desk has 100 cameras (an 8x8 and a 6x6 grid), all playing low res 720p15 preview streams.
Windows 10 was fine, about 70% CPU for all of it. Windows 11 can do one or the other set of cameras at ~35% CPU, but immediately jumps to 100% and starts dropping about 30-50% of frame if you try and fill both displays.
Same computer, just upgraded from 10->11.

I think any of these handheld machines would have been just about as good with Windows 10 as with Linux

I've been running into a problem where the camera's DTLS can break after a few uses and won't reset for a long while.

like slicing, where a customer can get their own slice in the radio network with connected equipment and phones being on a private network.
nice for emergency services.
then combine that with a rapidly deployable cell tower. we are talking 10 minutes to get a tower operational, with flexible backhaul options. even starlink can be the backhaul in a remote area. and suddenly your emergency services can be operational anywhere with only one kind of handset.
military use? you call in your reserves, and anyone with a cell phone with esim support can just scan a qr code on arrival to get enrolled on a private slice for secure communication.
both require a well built out 5g network with rural coverage.
the army here has demonstrated flying fpv drones over a 5g slice, so latency is good.

One low power mode would work in Europe, but not US, or not with Huawei, but fine with Nokia
