wow. i must be missing something entirely. first day with HA, just added node-red to it, trying to just test a simple "if sensor then turn on light", only sensor i have is the dishwasher door, and i have a light right above it. So, I make a node that can tell when the door changes from closed to open, and i make a node that can turn on the light. Individually, these two things work, but when I connect them together, they.. don't. and i have no idea why.

so... i did a thing.. used the brains of a respeaker lite to hack my old google home speaker - works well! (except.. I ended up squishing the user button when I put the case back on so had to disable the button and led transactions with the button)
I now how a respeakerlite running this old guy - it fits the respeakerlite almost perfectly inside. the mic's end up being on the back tho but the pickup has been good with it.

the "android kiosk" territory is going to put you in "underpowered" territory. Why not just get a 32" touchscreen display, sticky tape a raspberry pi to it, and control it with CLI? pretty easy to put a headless machine into chrome kiosk mode.

Part of the problem is that we, in the US, have no real chances to practice the other languages. Most of us do take a second language class growing up, but without a practical need for it, it never really sticks. For example, I took two years of Spanish in high school, and before that, learned some French even younger. Can I understand any native speakers in any language now, 30+ years later? Not really, no.

in the UK most people dont speak other languages very well (if at all) either. part of it is that when traveling even if you tried to learn a bit of the language for say 3 months or something in preperation. its highly likely when you get to where your going most people you will interact with will have better english than you do their language and render the entire exercise pointless.

It's long and very private sir....hehe...but it's very detailed, basically gives these sections a outline, roles and priorities, core tasks, Device controls and response style guidlelines mixed with templates for current states like weather and occupancy.

If you put the template local LLM integration uses, and ask chatgpt to optimize it with the changes you want, it returns some great results.

llm's also tend to favor old, well known, and sometimes completely outdated ways to solve a problem. i tried explicitly telling chatgpt the library it wanted me to use wasn't even available to install and had been deprecated for years. then told it which library was the correct one. chatgpt promptly invented a third alternative that behaved suspiciously much like the old one and that google had never heard of. 😄

The installers were really confused when they came to do my FTTH install and I told them I didn't want it inside the house at all.
Because of extremely limited indoor space, all the networking gear is in the crawl space under the house (in an IP-rated outdoor 19" cabinet).
The ONT is screwed to a 3U rack blanking plate, installed in the rear of the cabinet behind the patch panel and other short-depth things.

Aw yeah, picked up another AKG P420 off eBay. Somehow dude misspelled AKG in his ad, and I got it for about half of what they are regularly going for. I'll have a friend add a SMD cap in the right spot, and then I'll have two really nice U87 FET clones. I've wanted a pair of mics with similar/same voicing that can do figure-eight pattern...So getting this sorted for under $200 total, with shock mounts, and ending up with some mics that by all accounts sound really good is a hell of a good way to do it.

pro tip:
it takes about 15 minutes of "strenuous" cardio to kick yer body into 'metabolize faster nao plz' mode
... that mode has about a 2h tail.
SO... if you really wanna capitalize on laziness (an lets be honest .... few people LOVE exercising.... but most love the end result )
split yer exercise routine into 2x sessions spaced ~2h apart ... you'll get the benefit of an extra 2h of metabolism-elevated-tail

not really susstainable for the long term... but useful when ya really wanna get the most benefit out of the werk

My units are correct. There's some sort of goof in the pulse readings. I just set a filter to weed out any pulses that come too fast for it to actually be reasonable and I'm hoping that fixes it. Most of the time my readings are fine, but then every once in a while it shoots up into the thousands of MPH.

I run a skyconnect zigbee dongle on mine without problems. remember to always (yes, always) use a usb extender cable for your zigbee stick to get it away from electrical noise. i discovered that the usb to sata cable was a very noisy neighbor for zigbee signalling.

so right now the integration merged into core only has the "alarm_control_panel" platform, i need to just find some time to split up the rest of it and make the necessary merge requests to get the rest implemented
