you can also get simple knobs that do 0-10v control as its just a resistor dial; though I have used the 0-10v shelly it does have the advaantage of being able to change the adjustment range (some lights dont even turn on at like 0-12% or so on the range there) so you can set that as the minimum for 'on' and then have granular adjustability inside that; and etc

Hmm, I think between this and the 50 seconds of lag on the LAN SSH connection there might be a fault somewhere

Hello ! New here ... So Happy New year ๐ŸŽ‰
I'm having a disk size issue ... Looked around lots of posts on the subject, and found out that the problem is probably on the undernath OS ... Any addon to access that or is the hard way (developper access) still the only way to troubleshoot this problem ?
Thanks !

#

think the next one will be an led matrix or something

#

crazy that even now New Years is mostly dependent on New York in terms of the highlight. sure other cities have kind of created thier own events but still gets drowned out by times square

Oh no, no way, we gotta support the local growers

Yes sir.

So heartbroken, not at the dog shelter tonight. Feel so bad for the dogs. Ugh, simple minded people ๐Ÿ™„

lol? Simple DB queries are always going to be many orders of magnitude cheaper and more efficient than the training and inference involved with LLMs ๐Ÿคฃ

#

If the end goal is to produce inaccurate word salad, LLM is the correct tool for the job. Otherwise, use real tools.

The good n ol trustworthy ml

deft pewter
#

ML is fantastic. If you're actually talking about using it for classification type work, it's fab.

#

But GenAI... that's a toy.

solar zealot
#

It's the best thing that ever happens to us. Makes all the products utterly useless to a point where competition of major solutions could start competing again. At least in my dreams ^^

deft pewter
#

What what? You said it's not LLM. What is it?

glacial knot
#

No, I said AI isn't just LLMs

#

I didn't say that specific product isn't LLMs

deft pewter
#

Right

primal laurel
#

LLMs are a subset of generative models. A generative model is just a model that contains the data generating distribution

#

and those are used way beyond just language models

primal laurel
#

no, you need some basic knowledge. Which you seem to lack, judging by what examples you can come up with lol

deft pewter
#

lol, sure. I know nothing about transformers and neural networks. You caught me.

primal laurel
#

I don't even consider that basic knowledge. Try looking up some applications of generative models

#

you mentioned 2, great start.

deft pewter
#

The applications are the problem. People see a shiny new toy being hyped up and try to apply it to everything.

#

Transformers themselves are a really clever and novel tool. They're just the wrong tool for 99% of the things people use them for.

#

It was the same with blockchain. At least we're past that. GenAI will pass soon enough.

primal laurel
#

like I said. Generative 'AI', which most people mean text or video with, is just a subset of generative 'models'. A generative model is anything that models a data-generating distribution

deft pewter
#

I don't understand the distinction you're trying to make. "AI" is the umbrella term, yet you're claiming it's something more specific.

primal laurel
#

correct

austere anchor
#

There are generative models that donโ€™t appear intelligent. There are also Artificial Intelligences that donโ€™t use generative models.

I think thatโ€™s the distinction.

#

Generative AI is the intersection of two broader circles. Generative models and AI.
