aww
I tried to get it to identify the type of animal and it thought they were deer
oke I had a dream last night i was in the bus and i saw home assistant as bus information display. I said home assistant to the bus driver He said. Yeah it is over kill but support will last. it gave me an idea.
I know nabu casa got posts from investors who dont quite understand how opensource works and home assistant is not for sale. Yet i think that there are two options of creating for profit companies that use home assistant. why for profit companies with investments? well, to get the ideas running you need implementation time building up gettin...
you just lost a lot of brownie points
Perhaps I missed this somewhere, but is there any styling options on the type: button card? I just want to removed the rounded corners but I'm only seeing suggestions for using the custom:button-card
That's a question for #1284965988642590891
Done. Thanks.
Is it possible to rename device ids?
#1284966582375813201 might know
I did end up moving the keys, though, that level of chaos ended up being too much.
Tuya brought you back down to earth and you suddenly realized, maybe you can't just do anything you want lol
@lone dagger No Urdu in community survey?
We can’t change any questions now without losing all the responses, but I’ll make sure it’s included next time. 🙂
I hope raccoon is also on the next one
is that a language?
Needs a big boy language too, like Lojban.
For those unfamiliar:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lojban
Lojban (pronounced [ˈloʒban] ) is a logical, constructed, human language created by the Logical Language Group which aims to be syntactically unambiguous. It succeeds the Loglan project.
The Logical Language Group (LLG) began developing Lojban in 1987. The LLG sought to realize Loglan's purposes and further improve the language by making it more...
Gonna put Klingon on it next.
(We actually support Urdu in Assist so it makes sense to make sure it’s included.)
Infact I was involved in translating HA to urdu
yes with Voice hardware incoming
WISH GRANTED
Nope, just this one.
I wasn't in this window but had this channel up. Caught it immediately.
lol and you just banned them cause they wrote ban me?
oh yea prob right
this server gets all the nasties
I do that.. typing long shit over and over is for the birds
This is why I've inplemented full fuzzy finding searching
Yes!
just go pro and use windows
No thanks, I'm not a HAOS user
fuzzy search is awesome
I've done most of the stuff in this @red rock
When it comes to working in the terminal. I like to keep things functional, whilst also trying to keep my environment as zenful as possible.
Recently I've managed to create what I think is the most zenful zsh config out there, which also has a number of powerful interactive features such as fuzzy finding for completions and history.
Video Link...
It is so
why does it look like a fireship video
Why not?
damn what did I miss? so much new lines here
That's part of our maintenance program. We replace old lines by new ones from time to time.
where are the AI robots that helps to read all the chats 😄
@weak musk is the one who typically generates those for us.
Tempted to do a bot that automatically does that like the Previously on Bluesky bot does.
Oh can my washing machine join discord?

no, daft_dutch is enough. We don't need daft_washingmachine
ALL THE BOTS
Oke i now can now open webpages on my android tv and voice control to follow hyper links
ONE MORE TIME!
Hi everyone! may be it is a silly question. I am new to HA. I am trying to add an HDD with media on it to my HA OS on raspberry pi 4 and when I run: mount /dev/sda /mnt/HDD - I get a permission denied. How can I add an external drive to it?
im pretty sure HAOS is the wrong thing for that
i reccomend unraid as a nas server os
and im also pretty sure thats not possible
ooh, is it cool there?
dang
Preposterous, I went to Tromso last May and I don't recall it getting dark at all
Hang on
i guess it is pretty cool there
Send an email to the guys of basic browser an android tv app that is the only app that works with home assistant if they are open for features.
They dont use the keypad can bind actions to that like scrolling.
May is early though, June is the thing, btw we get midnight sun and snow in June sometimes
Oh the voice assistant satilite only costs 60. Thats a good price. Only need one. Echos are fine in my smaller rooms.
I still need to reintegrate my Alexae
I have a friend who is so convinced alexia works locally.
its cloud right. with all the features it does and the size of it
Yeah, they're just primitive ringbuffers listening for the activation word then sending it to AWS
Found a way. #1319403218303717448 message
I AM BACKKK
Cool, now be sure to get support in the right channels.
If not, I am happy to be educative again.
with all the lovely random ads to go with it.
got a dehumidifier yesterday and I regret not buying it earlier
Brought my apartment down from 80% to 65% in a single day and it's still going down
It's not smart at all but I have plenty sensors around the apartment to measure stuff
80% is bad
80% is florida.
and I entirely am behind the thought of removing florida looney-tunes style from the USA
we can also throw the jersey idiots pointing laser pointers at airplanes over while we're at it..
was fun to watch the open voice assistant video

Yep this works like a charm
is there any way to exend the STT timeout value?
for the assist
also i see most channels are read only?
did i miss something in signing up?
Go to Channels and Roles at the top and choose your role
You wanted #1284966915055288530
well he only makes like two things
with the exception of the two things everything else is playing middle man. the transaction likely goes from your purchase on the site directly to the official supplier and then shipping is from them to the buyer. the middleman gets a small cut from that sale but really has nothing to do with any of the transaction
why they recommend you generally buy from the manufacturer in general
As in the everything presence guy or someone else?
rip. I just bought 2 from him, they arrived thankfully but yeah thats not acceptable at all
when did you submit an issue?
Someone did a "drive by" our inflatable Santa Claus with either BB's or paint gun. Police called, no suspects have been charged.
this world..
Some ranting about the voice stuff. Why do simple things like "<area> light 50%" still don't work. These short forms are the most important ones.
wait.. the japanese read from right to left?
most of the time. formal writing is often done in vertical strips, so they sometimes read top-to-bottom
and now I'm trying to remember if there was a writing scheme that wrote from the outside in towards the spine; so left to right on the left page and right to left on the right page; just to keep your eyes exercised...
yay, I fixed my automations. 😄 I have no idea how I broke them, but I fixed them too.
"Error rendering variables: UndefinedError: None has no element 0" went away after I grabbed updated blueprints off the addin github page, and ran them in reset/fresh start mode. I can only assume the old blueprints had stale / not best behaviour settings and it all broke when HA rebooted?
knew about the vertical top to bottom but didn't know that in general they read most stuff right to left.
picturing books etc lol
Just pick up any Manga and that's obvious 😛
Just wait until you hear about boustrophedonic writing. That's probably the most fun in terms of directionality.
Yeah, I would've thought seeing the spine on the 'wrong' side would be a dead giveaway 😄
there is no japanese manga here to pick up lol
I’am using, energi data service and mypyvaillant (heat pump)
The mypyvaillant uses a schedule for heating, and I like to set it for heating only the 8 cheapest hours. Any suggestions
not 100% sure what you are asking but #1284980040940912641 would be your first step. I would however do a lot of google searching cause I have ran across guides of people using external services to control hvac before and might be what you are after.
wonder how many criminals were inadvertently aided in this server over the years
Translated ones still use the reading direction
The fun part is single line text
Because there was an official change from reading them right to left (essentially a column read top to bottom for us) to left to right, to align with the westernized line based direction

Ordered my voice PE last night and its already with DHL, not to see how customs is going to screw me
Gone are the days of everything being an $8 gift
Brexit is a pain in the arse.
I could order from mainland europe but takes that much longer
I would respectfully please ask if you can not spread information that is false. We have never once said that to a customer ever. If you have proof that I've told you your own your own, I'd encourage you to post the evidence. Posting information like that is damaging to small businesses.
I handle basically every email personally and I would never have said that anyone - we know how important our customer service is and we think we have really great history of taking care of our customers.
If what you are referring to is you have emailed us in the last few days and I have yet to respond, we have around 5-6x more emails in the last 5 days than normal and so I'm working through them as fast as I can and I will reply to you. It's not that you are on your own, far from it. Just give us some time is all I'm asking 🙂
See post above, hope that helps if your feeling nervous about it 🙂
If it was a misunderstanding (it looks to me like one), it would be a decent thing to edit your previous messages. Just so that others, like you said, know what to expect.
Deleting them was not really necessary, but that works as well.
And I think @still rock appreciates that gesture as well.
That's not how it works with us just for info
Hi, Is there a way to have the rpi4 hosting HA to be a snapcast client to ouput to my amp? Or for simplicity of setup should I look to have a rpi dedicated for that?
I considered this but ultimatly ended up going down the Rpi zero 2 w route
I am currently testing plexamp on the pi's as my family are big plex users and it was more about useability for them than multiroom audio and I have a mixture of Pi setups, one with a DAC, one connected to a soundbar over bluetooth.
Thanks. I want to use MusicAssistant to output over spdif, so am looking at a hifiberry hat to do this
@pine blaze If you move home assistant to libvirt on the pi. You got a whole linux environment on the pi to play with
No

man this place is making me smart
got me hooking up tail scales and all kinds of stuff
if you want to stay smart stay away from this channel
And do your own vpns, don't let other people define it
Don't let atx define your network
Hey I'll have you know I am a SASE / SDWAN / NSX-T certified dick
lol do my own vpns, that sounds like a recipe for disaster, i can barely get HA to do what I want
do you put that in your linkedin handle?
Like recruiters read linkedin handles
in EE we don't have as many idiots as in IT luckily
Congrats, I guess
Hey everyone! I've been into home automation for a long time (since the old X10 RadioShack days). Currently, I’m using a mix of SmartThings, Hue, Yale, and other devices. The new Hue multi-bridge setup works great, but I’ve noticed that Google Home no longer recognizes both bridges, so I’m exploring alternatives. I recently set up Home Assistant on a Raspberry Pi 4B, but I’m running into what seems like network proxy-related issues during installation. I’m not sure why, as I can access the UI, and the CLI shows an IP address. Any suggestions?
heres a funny one for folks, when robots fight:
I automated my litter robots and robot vacuums, so whenever they cycle, it sweeps area, works great, but for a while I have been getting sensor issues on the litter robot 4, today I looked up cleaning the sensors, it showed the lasers on it and it clicked for me.
So I ran a cycle, watched the roborock get closer to litter box and suddenly it got the red light. Didnt think about it but the lidar was triggering cat sensors lol, I changed the automation to be when box goes from cycling back to docked instead of during cycle. That was fun to troubleshoot for a bit though.
I do the same, but I've always triggered off the 'docked' state. I never would have thought that the vacuum would interfere with the LR sensors
I love that automation
where could I make a suggestion/request regarding the contents of home-assistant.log?
In a feature request
If you have a feature request for the frontend you can open one here, for Home Assistant itself please post on the forum. All other feature requests should be made to the developer of that custom card/component.
got it, thank you
Hi all, quick question - can Home Assistant Voice PE work with HA Core? More specifically the docker version
Asking because as far as I know the wake word integration needs to be installed on HAOS
Say that you already had it. A esp bluetooth proxy works better.
#1284966915055288530 can help
Thanks
I used to have "jackass of all trades, master of none" in my corporate signature, but had to change it when I started working with American management
Not surprising, americans are all weaklings
Americans have no sense of humor in the workplace.
Germans have no sense of humor at all
nope, but i got the adapter for free
just made one
also i plan on getting a ha green so i can use the server as a NAS
@balmy basin or move ha to a vm on the server and make it a NAS
you can passtrough your usb adapter

@lone dagger isnt the new PE voice like sold out?
me to playing with home assistant and some escapes to amsterdam. best vacation ever
There, much better name.
I bet nabu casa has some sort of decent holidays system because the founder is european.
did you see mine progress?
vm uses 50 percent of cpu 🥲
Yeah, they help cover what the US lacks in when it comes to time off.
But also I didn’t take enough time off this year. 🥲
me to. one week left can be moved to next year.
We lose all of ours if we don’t use it. MURICA
I thought the US is the land of accruing time off o.0
I only get to take 7 days into next year 😦
Throwing in paternity leave like it’s a real vacation lmao.
It is when the kids are in kindergarten
And my kids have been a treat until 1 year anyway
That's where they grow and harvest the chocolate?
or is this the mines thing
THANK GOD!! I only tought 112 alerts where a problem that the LLM refused the execute the script. 1st it did not beleave the script really did pull 112 incidents. then I made a long prompt it tought it was to good to be true and concluded it was a stub. Removed some dupicate info again and it worked.
Now the same with the weather alarm
got it working
Based on the current weather (cloudy, 7.7°C in Haarlem) and reports of several incidents in the area (ambulances and fire department), it's advisable to be cautious and aware of your surroundings when going outside. It's not necessarily unsafe, but increased vigilance is recommended.```
@fathom sparrow
Closed the thread, so cant message you there,
Just wanted to fire a personal thanks. I would have never found the Rest command. That made the script so much moer streamlined.
Ended up modifying it further, so it checks every hour, and uses a helper to store the previous value, so it notifies me on
Increased vigilance lol
MOM can i go to <insert friends name> what did Home assistant say?
thats what i wanna set up, but a "can i go jogging at lunch"
Checks the weather forecast, checks my schedule, and if i went jogging yesterday, and gives me a "yes hun" or "no hun"
i dont NEED a LLM.. but wheres the fun?
i dont need home assitant for that either, i have a cellphone.. but once again...
its like what i was thianking petro for:
I have a script set up to scrape an RSS, and push a notification to me whenever theres a new epic game store free game.
I could just subscribe to the rss on my feed reader....
Well my system works when internet is down. llm is a sause i put over my dish, not a main ingredient
you can put it in your callendar using hacs
Autism time.
for sure, when i start digging into LLM, it has to be local, not cloud.
(and then, that means its not 'large')
what'cha building?
it means it slow.
maybe run the LLM on my gaming PC, and if thats offline, fallback to a basic automation? :p
if you work with scripts the LLM is not directly doing it. you need to edit the prompt and ask the LLM what is going on. Debugging on a slow llm would be no fun for me.
you can switch assists pipelines using a automation
I mean that is like giving a web developer a machine with 4 gig ram to do web development.
are you going to play around with the home assistant voice unit?
AUTISM INTENSIFIES
The poinsettia.
oh, come on, you dont even have each peice lay out perfectly with a ruler so the gaps are even! 😄
Based on the current information from 112, weather alerts, and national news, it seems safe to go outside in Haarlem at 18:38. However, always be aware of your surroundings.
added a respected dutch news site.
Hahahahahahaha I CAN be that level of neurotic, but medication helps me let things go easier. 😄
are your practicing PE voice repairs?
No, that happens when I am opening and investigating Apollo devices.
And you're only partway toward knolling

Bag 1 down after a brief break to help someone.
Woot, bag 2.
I wonder if I can fit in another build today…
😮 i wonder if i can search for recepies and send the grocery list to the lists in home assistant
i can show the recepy on any browser. a android tv for exampke
40 weeks of holiday, followed by 52x17 weeks of hell 🤣
I am so glad mine are grown up and soon not 100% my problem anymore!
(But I do love them to bits)

oh crap not free
found one. cooking with home assistant i wonder how good it will be. Like im now adding the peper what next? and i put the eggs in set a timer.
I think a lot of people want this.
Bag 3 done.
yea more real live than opening a kxcd commic on your tv using voice
pics?
yeah i bet so. i think i make the automation and USE that in my howto i gona writing
I have installed Sonoffs in all my switches now, well, all except the bathroom which I am undecided on doing. It's a simple "light switch outside, light and fan run together" setup. I did also get a dimmer for the bedroom for SleepAsAndroid integration, it's a cheapy off Amazon called "Candeo", who I thought had a hit with Word Up
Nice job!
Personally I forget to turn stuff off, so having everything in HA is useful, but whatever floats your boat!
I'm also not 100% sure on local code (UK), I think an outside light switch is kosher, it's fiddling with things like over-mirror lights and shaver sockets where you hit issues.
Just finished 4 and 5, first image is 3 completed.
looks great!
Thank fuck they make it hard to fuck up.
NOT ENOUGH DOGGO PICS, PLEASE RECTIFY
Also, I really should share my lego collection pics
y'all would be shocked
She says she’s got no time for me.
Handsome lass
Uh, those pieces are no longer sorted using the dewey decimal system. What gives?
My light show this year:

holy crap
And done!
I take my nieces to the toy store every year and let them pick out whatever they want for their birthday-- I always come home with a new lego set for me. Always.
Struggeling with the prompt to force the llm to trigger the script to get the cooking instructions
I think it might be time to share some pics
You are not thinking big enough, your script should include the food being made for you, not instructions!
Also the bacon cooking instructions are wrong, it should be shriveled up and black as heck
It works!!!!
You can ask questions about the next step. I added the garlic now what
there is only a thing with that the tts runs against some time out.
Many years ago (ok, the '90s), I had a email signature that said "I love animals, they taste great". I was very active in a tech community and one of the vendor employees said she couldn't always forward my emails around because someone might get insulted. I'm much more sensitive now
Anyoen know how many PEs were sold yesterday?
A lot.
It amuses me when someone gets mad at someone else simply because they eat meat.
I try not to associate with people who make "eating meat" their personality though
@lone dagger #1319770338179158086
Same with people who make not eating meat their personality
As long as we all agree that bacon is delicious, of course
Im a where are the insects kind of guy
But how will you know they are vegan?
You dont and treat everyone equally
Ah, that's easy. I treat everyone like the asshole they are. 😌
I don't care what you put in your holes.
HA doesn't support NTFS right?
plugged in a random external disk via USB and it's not being picked up anywhere

Happy Friday to you as well! 🍷
gimme some pls
my whole childhood got sold by the people I borrowed it to
A great some prompt tweaking and i can set a timer using the time in the recept.
not surprising since its not that expensive and has what people want..
i'll wait for the black friday sale
I mean sure, a year~ should be enough for them to get the stuff done? 🤣
Am I correct in recalling that 2025.1.0b comes out Monday next week rather than Wednesday? I'd ask in #beta but that's not available for good reason.
The calendar is here: https://developers.home-assistant.io/
Yes, beta starts on Monday
Well this is a nice couple errors.
yea.. something certainly wrong with that music player
Never in my digging did I notice a calendar, and one that I can pass into HA for automated reminders... THANK YOU!
It's difficult, programmatically speaking, to capture the state of a mutation.
Well right now I'm throwing CA Roots at my HomePod.
Having to use a spare iPhone to do it.
Finally.
@last cedar season's greetings!
pre-filament loose up.
I doubt that fat would print well
fat adds moisture content to keep the filament on the spool from drying out
chunkier the better
How come the router from my ISP seems to have no problem mounting it as a DLNA share
strange world
DLNA o.0 now that's a word I haven't heard in a while
yeah, I'm not doing it this way because it's not a method I'm comfortable with
but the fact the router can blindly mount an NTFS disk is impressive
and even more impressive is probablyt the amount of security holes in said router. /s
😛
stop visiting sketchy porn sites and you won't have to worry as much
inb4 his router was made by tp-link and rebranded by the ISP.
I have a TP-Link router 😭
not using a dumb modem and fancy router like opensense
@clear ferry can you get your hardware people to make a switch with eink displays on the ports so they are easy to label?
Eink display on what now
right above/below the ports on switches in like 4pt font so I can label them
an excuse to tack on additional 200 to the price tag
have you considered.. just buying a label maker? 🤣
I have a label printer
but that's effort
also doesn't work well when I stack things
magic router
Which one do I choose for my sonoff zigbee dongle?
check documentation and look it up?
or crack it open and look.
I think it's the default selected just from some light reading I had done before but most certainly check the documentation
People look at switches after cabling stuff?
Also LLDP
seldomly
the smoke has to originate from somewhere right?
I wish everything I have here supported LLDP 😦
Yeah, I was fucking disappointed that coreos does not support LLDP, so I'm pushing Rh engineering now
Does someone know a nice hacs available card view that looks like a material design slider but can display sensor results? Like a gauge but horizontal
Ask in #1284966617670881350 with the zigbee tag. There's no support here. Read the channel description.
what a floofy chonk omg haha
Normally when I cable stuff, you can't see what is behind the cabling 🤣, so no!!
You should see when I cable up a 64 port 800G switch
that splits out to 4 ports per port
just 256 end devices
yes, unfortunatly 1600G ports are still not norm
I can't imagine transfering data at the slow rate of 800G to be honest
Honest question now, where does the latency of sending the command for it to do something become the bottleneck, rather than the actual transfer of data?
Excuse me
Like, say it takes 3 nano seconds for the request for 'something' but it only takes 2 nano seconds to send.....
that sounds like multi node frontend contention
like when you deploy VAST, you can have 192 controllers and 380 disk shelves
I understand why it is called VAST anyway
jesus
Just to give you an idea how the other side works, I was programming a sluce the other day, 2 doors physically next to each other
one door blocks the other via a relay to an input on the other (both directions)
it takes 5 seconds
signal has to go from the door box, to the main unit, to the master unit, it has to process, then send it back to the main unit and to the next door
So now we just use the blocking input, 5 seconds is just too slow
yeah, rs485
we only have 31 devices on this particular string
no, actually, only 21 I think
So we got it down to 500ms ish
Thats pretty slow
it is only the sluce from the scrub room to the infection operating theater, so not quite as fancy, but no less important
Anything above 2ms these days on disk response is slow
Good think Assa don't do anything with disks then!
haha
500ms is a lot in data systems
It is actually 2x the round trip time from Stockholm to Los angeles
Not when you are streaming 4 copies of Debbie does Dallas in 8k 3D
I could just bundle 4 ports and satisfy your needs
I'm doing that for a connection from chicago to Gothenburg, bundling 5x20G internet links to make a 100G link that load balances
Lets hope no Chinese shipping vessels read that
might accidentally just drop their anchor the whole way
When you say 20G, does that mean a 10g link in duplex? or is 20g another connection? I have only really seen SFP and SFP+
I would imagine at the actual end, that is how it ends up being, even if it is a giant fat cable that has like shark bite protection etc
or am I ut o cyklar?
It's sold as individual 20g links, but it is probably 10g bundled
yea, 500ms is when I send the signal to our cloud in US, relay it back to the EU, and then the return path goes through the US again
oh wait, that's just 300 something ms RTT
500ms is looooooooooong
1200ms round trip from Antarctica (geostationary sat.)
That's reasonable
iowa (aka. us-central1)
I'm designing out a sectioned light bar for my kitchen counter right now, so far I've added HEV and IR as well as the full colour and temp spectrum.
However it does look weird lol
Just use stralink 🤷
a lot of voice boxes coming out in a short period
FutureProofHomes.net is launching its first product towards a completely local, AI-powered voice assistant & multi-sensor for the smart home.
Product Features
- 4 Microphones
- 4 Buttons
- Advanced XMOS Audio Processor
- 24 LEDs
- 25W Amplifier Speaker Connection
- Temperature Sensor, Humidity Sensor, Light Sensor and mmWav...
didn't like it saying the garage door was closed when it showed closing.
I hate the idea of it listening to me
Would have to add another thing to the list that listens to my nagging chitterings
I want to play with a smart speaker that has no (or at least configurable always off) LEDs
so I can have a bedroom "clock" with no lights that works in the dark
What about an esp based pixel clock?
Black tape
spray paint
That's only just become available to us and is indeed my first job to get installed and connected. It's pretty fucking far from a business grade service though, we'll still be using the geostationary satellites as well.
Latency is not bandwidth.
How do you get pixels that are both visible and emit no light?
I just know that we use it at a couple sites, but prefer the AVM 5G routers
with TCP it kinda is
Low brightness and auto off unless touching it
meh
E-ink.
e-ink dim front light and a good way to get to light up could work
But those challenges can be solved by yelling into the room
Computer! Time!
So my router is owned by my appartment complex, and thus I can't access its settings and see IP addresses. Is there a nice way to see all the hostnames and mac addresses of connected devices?
unless they broadcast them and those broadcasts reach you, no
What's your goal with this
I want to see more hostnames to add more discovered devices to HA
You could intercept the traffic
Some switches even do that to show you which devices work over which port
you could setup a DHCP sniffer
though it needs to be there on the initial connection. Renew can be done on unicast
try netanalyzer app, works well for me
on phone?
@red rock you can hub the modem with your own network with a linux server with 2nics and then some wifi mesh.
Oh I could have put my own router in front, but I am quite happy with my current network, so I never really felt like adding more devices
cant view mac addresses because of new android SDK
lovely
oh yeah lol I forgot about that
Darn. Google AI is really stubborn. Checking news is hard if you dont explain the function in the system prompt you get messages like i dont have access to real time info. If you explain to much the AI thinks it's a stub and does not work. Had lie the rss is for cnn because it does not trust all news sites.
Sometimes it moderates the calls.
Hello, I am unable to post anything to home assistant reddit. It says everytime that
Sorry, this post has been removed by the moderators of r/homeassistant.
Any help please?
Sounds like a manual step. Perhaps not related to homeassistant enough
@last cedar you wanna get inside?
I know this is oversimplified, but I'm trying to keep this short.
For home stuff, look for the tech "Matter over Thread". They're protocols* designed to allow your stuff to work with any ecosystem, including local.
Is that too objectionable? I know the difference between Matter and Thread, but don't feel like I need to explain that in this context of generic tech abandonment talk.
It's been slow to roll out, largely, imo, because companies would prefer to lock people into their own ecosystems and apps. Apple, Google, and Samsung do have some motivations to be interoperable though, and Matter/Thread is that effort. Consider looking at Home Assistant if you want to know more about this ecosystem and local, open control.
What exactly do you want from us?
I'm just posting that to social media. Looking to see if that's more or less accurate, or if there's a better way to phrase it.
I wouldn't say "look for Matter over Thread" in general.
Matter at least does guarantee some kind of local control, even if the manufacturer abandons the device completely.
And Thread means you don't need a proprietary hub.
Matter over WiFi often is easier to integrate than Matter over Thread.
And Matter in general is nice and good, but often still limited in functionality.
Yeah, I know apps often add functionality on top of the Matter API
Thread means, you need an ecosystem supporting Thread. Not all do.
Thread means you can get any hub that supports thread, and don't need Samsung or Aqara's proprietary bullshit.
Same for Zigbee
Thread is effectively the newer version of Zigbee, isn't it?
Huh, I thought Thread was largely based on Zigbee
Matter sucks at marketing what they do.
But it’s also one of the standards that is supported by several big techs thanks to the CSA.
Not that I expect them to be interoperable or anything.
If someone is already in those ecosystems, then I’d suggest Matter.
But for open protocols I’d push Thread or Zigbee first.
"If you're cold, they're cold, let them inside"
Samsung especially is up to par for Matter with us.
This depends on how good a hacker you are!
LET ME IN
arp-scan
I saw rhasspy-speech mentioned on stream and that feedback was wanted. I've been using it since then and am SUPER happy with it. I only ever used pre-configured commands, no AI or anything, and it's much better experience than using local whisper with a large-v2 model
edit: one thing to note is that docker image unfortunately is not really functional, couldn't really figure out why
won't get you hostnames
though now that you say it, you might be able to get them with a simple reverse DNS lookup
Thanks for reminding me!
Oh, don't tell me I have to build from source! :))
There has to be a prebuild docker, has there?
there is an addon for HAOS
I couldn't get the docker image to run personally, which is a shame
Ah, I'm on containerized, no addons for me. I'll end this topic here to not disturb the chill, but thanks for the pointer.
It's probably because the image is really outdated compared to source, I would keep an eye out for updates
Add-ons are just containers , anything that is an addon you can install yourself
Rhasspy-speech add-on is a compose container, meaning it gets built as it gets installed, which on some installations is not trivial
Plus I took a look at the addon itself and it wasn't obvious to me how one would configure it without Home Assistant's UI
That means it has a build file, which means it can be run fine
So, still
On any install, except core on bsd
That said, there should be a lot of better options than rhasspy these days
but are there?
I wouldn't know, only the kids use voice in this house, and that is google 😂 I assumed the new HA voice was offline for example
I think it can be
mycroft went proprietary so I stopped caring
rhasspy-speech has a wyoming version, which is what is being discussed here
Rhasspy kind of lives on as a collection of various projects Mike creates
I think the main reason it's been slow is because it has an uphill battle against the long-established zigbee and z-wave ecosystems. It needs to bring something practical to the table that those systems (or WiFi) cannot, which in the case of zigbee is really really hard to do
both z-wave and zigbee have been getting updated with new functionality, I think z-wave will hit a wall because of the limited bandwidth in its chosen spectrum, but zigbee has a lot of room for growth and has only gotten more and more reliable as WiFi has largely moved away from 2.4Ghz in practice
Almond was what pulled me fully into HA.
Tragic it didn’t go farther.
Yeah, no, for this one it isn't easy, I'm already deep in a rabbit hole.
There's runtime configuration, model downloading and training for your specific HA instance that's happening in the add-on code, that's not present in the docker container.
I'm sitting this one out 😅
-# and whispering strong words to the void about addons not being available / easy to use outside a supervised setting
Thanks for the feedback 🙂
I haven't gotten around to building a Docker image, but it will be pretty straightforward. The only difference vs. any other Wyoming Docker image is that it will need to expose two ports: one for Wyoming STT and the other for the web UI.
Oh... and the HA training on exposed entities & model downloading is from the web ui?
Yeah I didn't even realize it has web ui until I installed the addon
undo rm -rf ./docker/rhasspy-speech
Yes, you will need to give it an HA long lived access token to do the download.
Oh, the model list on the docker is lacking romanian / other languages recently added
Should we move this to a #1284966915055288530 thread? I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to find how to pass a hass token / provide the HASS websocket URL to the container
Might be a good idea, yes
@clear ferry it appears I owe you a beer & an apology.
Edit: The beer goes to Mike.
And his ego grew three sizes that day... 🙂
Well, there is a thin line between confident and arrogant, customers see me as the former, my wife knows it is the latter
"you get paid to be an arrogant dick, and anything you touch you master within minutes" is a direct quote
And it isn't wrong
... and his ego ...
Ah yes, we have similar ‘tisms I see.
I’m also the arrogant one rather than confident. 😂
“You talk to problems not people” was also a thing I’ve been told.

I've had people comment to me "wow, you must be insufferable". Actually, no, I'm the person people actually like (and listen to), because I'm the person who gives them honest feedback and not just what they want to hear
I tell others I’m insufferable so they’re pleasantly surprised when I’m not.
Yeah, but it's a fine line...
It’s not a fine line. There’s a way to do it constructively and there’s a way to be a dick about feedback.
My SO is a master of "Brusselese", which became an insta-favourite language of mine
Well that's the thing. It's a line, but it's less fine than people think it is
The good thing though is, I'm the SME for about a dozen products in country, so my arrogance is warranted
But as @fathom sparrow says - “me short sentence” because saying too much is effort.
This, not sales marketing bullshit, if our products are shit, I tell them, and they like that honesty
big effort bad
Yeah, agreed. I think my point was it takes a bit of practice so the honesty is evident.
Re: "Brusselese"
I'm reminded often of a quote:
A diplomat is a person who can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you actually look forward to the trip.
why words
Oh yeah don't get me wrong, this isn't a thing for the first conversation with someone you've not met before. You build up the rapport first, and then you judge how honest they're going to accept you being.
Being on the opposite end of the supply chain to atx (but dealing with people peddling similar wares) it's the nitty gritty of the oddly-specific issues that affect my enjoyment of the product
Also, considering most of the talented people in our business, on both sides of the chain are somewhere between a 6-10/10 on the autism scale, the interactions can be interesting
Indeed
You’re the first person in a while who I’ve seen use the 10 scale for autism. 😆
9/10!!
To be fair, I should use 1-1024 considering the variations and also that that number would satisfy at least 512 of those on the scale
The mark of someone inextricably bonded to computers, everything must be a power of 2

Then you should use 0-1023
Nobody's a 0 on this scale
Disgusting
Best regards someone who had to replace cpu1 on a system where the system board is marked 0/1 and the os counts 1/2

No
Even more no 😂
What is this telling us about Juniper's switches and routers, do we think? 0-indexed everything
It's the law of the land, can't help it
Because everyone loves the ports on their switch being numbered 0-47 when damn near everyone uses 1-48
We recently had the OS log about memory errors in bank 25
On a system with 2 CPUs, 8 dimms each
Fuck you, 2 based indexing https://github.com/simonster/TwoBasedIndexing.jl
Brocade does this also
I hate it
Also some old Dell switches (not long after the Force10 acquisition), which had double whammy of the even numbers being on the bottom row, like this:
1 3 5 7 9
0 2 4 6 8
If you want a way to upset people, that is it right there
Why not randomize them at this point? 😄
For security
It does keep similar numbers closest

When I start working on coding ha do y’all use something like vs code? Or do you use something completely different?
I’m new to coding so just want to make sure I’m on right track
Vscode is the most user-friendly yes. And make sure you read all the tutorials on HA dev docs
ok will do. I was hoping to find a youtuber i could follow for my first project. I am still learning how to code. I figured this would be the simplest for now.
If you just started learning python contributing to HA may be too intimidating
Are you new to coding overall or just coding for HA?
ok why would you say that? Just curious
Overall.
There are some common concepts that may need a few tabs of googling if this is your first code project
I've been programming python for quite some years and even for me it's not easy, simply because HA is such a large project. I would start with something smaller
ah yes, i have been googling a lot lol but also i did pass code academy course 1 on python. So i am familiar but still a long ways to go.
Ok what would you suggest?
Fair enough!!
Yes sir, i hope to learn as i go on ha even if it takes a year or 2. Its about the only thing to give me the drive i need to learn how to code.
I wish you good luck on that journey!
And this is why I don't use Edge..........
Gonna talk to my dad about dissolving MS family after dinner
Aaand Google is being weird
Maybe appdaemon is nice https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-appdaemon
Allows you to write stuff for HA in python
From within an addon
awesome ty!
Christmas gift recommendations for people just installing HA for the first time?
Zigbee or Zwave usb antenna if they don't have one already
Not a bad idea. they dont have any zigbee or zwave yet tho, but useful.
all their stuff is wifi
Just follow the universal rule of families and tech: if you buy it, you're signing up to support it, so make sure it's something you'd be happy to use yourself 😛
Got a question... Anyone know if there's a way to pull values from nws (national weather service) forecast for automation?
I want to set up an automation that'll tell me to turn on the water if it's supposed to get below 25.
I've read something that there's supposed to be a template for nws, but at a loss on where to get/put such a template.
#1284966664357810196 can help with triggered templates and retrieving info from the forecast.
K. thanks
Either I haven't figured out how all this is designed, but there doesn't seem to be a way to ask the question in "templates". So where can I get the friendly help I need?
I do usually try to search for what I'm looking for in the discord search. But it doesn't seem that anybody has asked such a thing.
Have you not seen forum channels before?
I'm on 9 different servers. So yea. But I haven't seen any with those chat bubble icons.
Go here #1284966664357810196 and then click the + button.
That's a forum channel
I see no + button.
What do you see?
FAB?
The hints are the “Search or create a post…” text placeholder and the big purple call-to-action button.
Floating action button
Ahh oki
at some point just redirecting to the forums may make things easier lol
It was an informal acronym from when Google launched Material Design.
I see
?
arguably this is just a primary themed one as its not overlayed onto the content of that page
Ok. So I do a post and wait for someone to answer it. Hmm... Seems to be an unfriendly way to go about a chat channel.
It's the same as posting here
It's better than a support free-for-all tbh.
I'm always used to doing a search for what I'm looking for and if I don't find anything, I just ask in the channel and someone reples.
On mobile it’s a FAB.
heh. Maybe.
pfff mobile users
Technically I have 2 :)
That’s a tall phone.
what kinda phone is this
But I'm also used to the world of irc. Ran a server for years back in the 90s.
a long one
the new samsung zcroll or something
Lol
Yea. Coming from there, I actually think the forum switch is nice. Quite often a question is asked but doesn’t get answered right away. If someone who knows an answer isn’t online at the time, it’s long gone by the time they log back on. Here, I scroll through the forums from time to time and can answer things posted well outside my time zone.
it seems like there are far fewer people asking tho
the new count i see really dosen't jump up much
I did Discord tech support, I would kill for forums
Yea. I can see that as helpful. But discord also saves your last known and shows new posts too.
That’s probably because people used to have to ask multiple times to try to get an answer. 🤣
woops. reply was a mistake
Project got shut down.
I'm sure killing someone is against some of our rules. 🤔
Always gotta be someone that asks things multiple times. Human nature cuz they think they're being ignoreed.
ignored.
True enough tbh
one hour later: Bumping this post!
Yeeeeeeeeeep
two minutes later how do I install <clearly_illegal.apk> to my android emulator?
Two minutes if I'm lucky
Yeeea. Did plenty of Android support with twrp on IRC in my day too. The barrier of entry for IRC was just high enough that some of the really dumb questions were avoided, but it was still annoying.
It wasn't an Android emu but it was emulation with a twist of lemon
But point carries
Discord is very inefficient for support anyway. Because none of the answers here are indexed by search engines, and nobody really goes searching for older posts to look for answers before asking
thats why there was forums and discord
I did search before making a thread, but yeah so many repeat questions
Hmm. I’d be cool for a bot to mirror support posts to the forum with their original question, resolution, and a link to the discord thread.
Hence why I made the energy FAQ lol. So inefficient answering the exact same questions over an over again
will have to get missy to post the analytics again and compare but curious if activity really has dropped
That'd be cool yeah
Yea. Talk about energy... The info on setting up energy is not very helpful. But at least I THINK I got it set up right. But there was nothing in there that explains if it's supposed to be the total or daily or whatever.
Daily or total doesn't matter
I think it does say something about that on the docs
Official docs
I had a dumb moment when I was using the phase 1 and phase 2 total along with phase 1 because of shortened tags. But got that fixed.
It should when the energy ticks along with the information. Depending on how HA energy works, if it used a total when it's looking for something else... I'm not sure how it figures out things. But it seems to be working. I think they did a really cool job on getting that working.
I've used homeseer and tried openhab and HA is the only thing that actually worked with my inverters.
Also, having just installed HA today, I like how the Ubuntu-y instal works
The energy dashboard doesn't actually store anything. It just takes the long term statistics from other sensors and computes a simple sum of loads and generators
It's very simple
Not even sure what it uses. Isn't HA under debian?
It uses live Ubuntu to write a disk image straight onto the host
Yea. I think I got the energy working right. Still paying an arm and a leg for power though.
HAOS is not Debian based. It uses buildroot.
Ok. I've used ubuntu before. But like debian better. Don't use the gui that much. Mostly cli user.
I have it installed in a proxmox.
HA is just a python app
I prefer straight Deb as well, but followed the recommended bare metal x86 guide bc I did it bare metal
Nothing wrong with bare metal installs. But since I use the same computer as the firewall for the whole house and was talked into trying proxmox... I got another instance running opnsense.
Still working out bugs in that. Gotta use numeric ip on internal lan instead of my external domain. Can't remember how to fix that. 😛
I'm sure it's a route issue, but I'll figure it out someday.
I keep it simple… by storing all my Ansible and Terraform configuration in a git repo so I can bootstrap all my servers with a single command. Wait… what’s simple mean again? 😉
Lol
Did you bring your job into your home? Lol
oh hi Jeff
I started doing it when I started managing people instead of building things.
Now I’m back to building for work too, so…
Love being at a party with mulled wine. That is all.
I need some way to get a notification when my doorbell rings. Only that, nothimg else. no remote opening, no picking up remotely
I dont wanna take apart the system too hard, and i dont wanna pay too much. i just want notifs to home assistant
I found a template and made it horrible
Maybe try #the-workshop ? Maybe by connecting some sensor to your chime.
for the past year I connected my NAS to my HA and would navigate to individual files every time I wanted to stream a song to a speaker.....somehow I just now found out about Music Assistant....this is an absolute game changer. I can't believe it took me this long

who would have thought the year of 2025 would be all about lasers
This is too boomer
Dash Cam Owners Australia was created in 2013 with the goal of educating the Australian public to the dangers faced by road users on a daily basis. Our videos help provide a useful educational tool for those who are learning to drive and those wishing to improve their awareness of hazards on the road.
For licensing and usage information regard...
This is where its at
heh. Lasers. And those idiots in NJ lighting up aircraft because they think they're drones.
because half the dash cam footage is the person with the dash cam being the shit driver? lol
yes!
God god. Working on my 112 check i was moving from amsterdam to haarlem and it kept filling in amsterdam when i can back to haarlem.
yea, I love how often the dashcam drivers are atrocious drivers
this so much
more than half the time it's like "look how I made them drive for them to nearly crash"
trying to be all clever
Huh?
ad, please remove @iron granite
...i did say I'll remove it if people complain...
I am complaining
It wasn't really an ad tbh, just was helping people
great summon i call opun you FROM THE LOWER PITS OF HELL i call you.
And you're new here... 😂
I was just sharing an AI subscription with everyone. I removed it myself
Still an ad.
You pop into a channel and that's the first thing you put in the chan?
I like that one, Jorg.
ugh the ai crap flooding youtube has quickly became annoying
I have completely disabled personalized recommendations, history and tracking
so only subscriptions and likes left
can highly recommend
Are they plumbing with AI?
quite literally.. yes lol https://youtube.com/shorts/oEiq-02w4vQ?si=gOX_qLgcUd_ULTl8
Anyone here use nanoleaf light bulbs?
why? it's not like your cameras catch anything other than deliveries anyways.. searching for the term "box" is still going to make every event you ever capture show up just as the same as clicking All
damn infestation
Cute. I have a family of 4 around here.
Camera OSD clock still there? Motion masking?
why wouldn't it be there?
Unless you motion mask it's continous motion
this isn't through frigate so no it doesn't trigger off that
I bought the Skyconnect. It was sold to me as a device which I could connect all my Matter and Zigbee devices to. Now I'm being told it can't do it and I need to buy a second Skyconnect.
@tidal bronzedid you see I tried running these driveway pics through the gemini thing? #the-water-cooler message
was impressed at first but that quickly died off
Matter and Zigbee are two seperate things. the dongle cannot do both at same time
That's not what was advertised when I purchased it?
It is stated on the product page, that it is possible, but not recommended.
"What is the current state of multiprotocol support?"
`Based on the original image and the cropped hints, it appears to be a nighttime scene captured by a trail camera. There are two animals present.
The first animal appears to be a bobcat in the middle of the frame. The other appears to be an armadillo at the bottom right. The location is noted as "Farm Driveway" at the bottom right of the frame. The timestamp at the top of the image indicates the date as 12/19/2024 at 04:43:30 am on a Thursday.`
Ai studio 2.0 Flash goes beyond lol
Did it always say that? I don't recall it being disclosed as an issue.
Multiprotocol has always been experimental, even with the old SkyConnects. Also on the product page.
Multiprotocol development has been frozen (not cancelled) some time ago, due to performance and firmware issues.
exactly.. how horrible is that? lmao
@forest edge you need better cameras There are small animals visible in the image—possibly a raccoon and an armadillo GPT is having issues as well
Add an IR flood
interesting. I never realized they actually considered both at same time.. how the hell does interference not hinder the shit out of that?
Quote from 2022:
Out of the box the Home Assistant SkyConnect will support only Zigbee. We're working on a firmware update that makes it possible to run both Zigbee and Thread at the same time. Thread is the mesh networking protocol that powers Matter, the new standard for smart home devices.
it's a 4g solar camera.. the clarity and resolution is what it is lol
It only transmits on one protocol at a time and changes back to the other. Likely one of the performance drawbacks.
wonder if it would melt over extended use
Ah it's a shame they could never get Zigbee and Thread to work simultaneously.
I guess I now need to decide whether I want to purchase a second one, or replace all my Zigbee devices with Thread
I would honestly not run both off same dongle regardless
not to mention if you really want better zigbee then you need a cordinator with an external antenna imo
Well... they did get it to work - called Multiprotocol, but it has issues and isn't recommended due to that. You will get better performance by using seperate radios for Zigbee and Thread.
multiprotocol requires some low level embedded software on the chip itself, highly doubt the HA team is involved in that part at all. So the bottleneck is with SI labs
And Silicon Labs seems to be very slow to solve issues in their software.
I'll keep my Zigbee and Texas instruments thank you very much
@tidal bronzeshame that it seems the ha intergration only does text, I would use gemini's ability to highlight objects in an image if that were possible
would beat trying to find the blended in racoon when the image pops up on my tv lol
I had to change recording filter to all. Motion is not cutting it. Was trying to help find a runaway dog and what a let down.
how would that work? thought your property was like fenced off and electrified
Not mine.
frigate dosen't catch everything especially if the object is really trucking
unless it's big
all... your poor i9 is going to blow up
NFS is going to blow up
squirrel is going to fart and frigate will capture it and the ai text to your phone will say "Flatulence present"
smells like...armadillo
I think I need new cameras
Strategic Guinness Reserve
was there a baby boom or something? guzzling down alcohol was already about the only thing to do over there as is
I don't know what the UK has against its former colony 🙂
Guinness for All!
Draft, of course. None of those shitty cans
serving guinness in cans should be punishable with prison time
gonster? well.. guinness and guillotine do start with the same letters...
This Polestar Uber I'm taking now is like a classy Tesla. Doesn't have stupid door handles, nice center screen plus instrument cluster. I like it
and no driver to have unnecessary conversations with?
There's a driver, but it's quiet, just the way I like it
I hate small talk with strangers
they're nice cars, software is a bit lacking
I saw people at school drink this in one go
That's exactly the demo that I would expect
I'm sure there's a Red Bull version, too 🙂
Also, Guinness+Jaeger
Then people grow up
The center tablet has sort of a Tesla look about it. The driver did struggle pressing an icon that did nothing until he switched modes or something, so that seemed weird
proof that taste buds have devolved in humans
It doesn't have the Tesla 'road view' thing, but that's nonsense
jack and coke was really the only acceptable mashup with syrup
jaeger is goated
Tech is hard.
I know nothing about the software, but that UX was bad
the newest OTA adds android auto so hopefully it'll help a bit with features. there's still some occasional lag and recently had to reboot the infotainment a couple times because the LTE connection simply wouldn't work
I purchased a second Mini PC just for Home Assistant. N100/16GB/512GB for about $150, instead of a Pi, the Home Assistant own hardware has mixed availability. Geting HAOS on it was a slight bit tricky, boot from USB Linux live disc, use disk image writer to put the image from a second UDB stick to the internal storage.
Once that was done, it's really easy. Of course, I need to set pretty much everything up again, and HAOS is a little different for add-ons, but it's great, and fast.
I would suggest (at some point down the road when you feel like expanding) switching out from running HAOS primary on the system to running things in a docker. The PC is capable of handling more than just HA so may as well utilize it in my opinion
I moved from running in a container to this, to have the supervisor etc. I can switch back if I don't think that it's the smoothest, but I'm going to give this a go. I have another computer just for containers and VMs, and it was there for a while.
sheer amount of lost pets this year is sad, always seems to grow every year
this year seems a huge uptick in people losing thier dogs
Or VM so you can still run HAOS. I run Proxmox on a NUC so I can run HAOS plus another VM as a part of a Nomad cluster.
docker is way more user friendly
Docker it is!
Not for HASS.
why not?
not ran across anything the supervisor provides that cannot be done just as easily outside the container
Just look at the amount of people with issues figuring out addons when running a Docker install.
Functionally, it’s just as capable. But can’t one click install addons like you can with HAOS.
well...
So, I’d consider that more user friendly.
I run it on my moms n100 because it was just designed for remote access. just don't care for how they decided to handle custom created containers vs the "store" installed ones
but there are a few docker oriented os's out there that basically makes the experience almost the same as if it were android or whatever
can't get much more user friendly than that
Yea. Agreed. That’s what HAOS does too. Also Cloudron and yunohost.
I wish haos allowed installing any container you wanted regardless if it was to intergrate with ha or not
i mean it does in the sense that you know how to build a container for it.. but not simple lol
You can.
I just SSH in and run via compose.
I only do that for Promtail, but would be workable with anything
I run a custom discord bot on mine so I know that process well but that is not simple lol
sorry was refering to hass
It’s just like any other Docker host. You can run anything on it with basically the same process as you would with any computer.
Yea. I’m talking about my HAOS VM.
I want to scrape those logs to my Loki server, so I installed the SSH addon and ran a compose file to deploy it.
It will consider your installation unhealthy, and I thought it would disable updates
I still get updates…
I just built an actual addon for my needs.. not sure the path you went
shows in addons etc
have control from within ha
I didn’t go the addon route because it needs access to /var/log to get system logs.
if addons had a means of adding custom one's without jumping the hoops like it currently does so you could run true custom ones then that would be cool
with control within ha etc
What do you mean by true custom ones?
That is possible. The Advanced SSH addon can access Docker and run anything.
thats not user friendly
You could use that to spin up Portainer.
There may even be a Portainer addon someone has built. I’d be surprised if not, actually. Seems like it’s popular.
This add-on is provided by the Home Assistant Community Add-ons project. Manage your Docker environment with ease. About Portainer is an open-source lightweight management UI that allows you to easily manage your a Docker host(s) or Docker swarm clusters. It has never been so easy to manage Docker. Portainer provides a detaile...
I didn't even know that exsisted
That one is removed from the “official community repo”, but there are several other repo links in the thread.
It was removed 4 years ago
gives me the feeling that it will break with no ability to recover at some point
No more than any Docker machine running any Docker container.
Because it there's no sanctioned use case within HAOS
Anything not curated is going to come with some risk.
But it’s possible. Still easier and probably more stable than the alternative of running some other OS and doing manual updates and not having any addons.
I guess I’m trying to say: HAOS is the most user friendly way to run Home Assistant with addons. If you really want to go run other containers on it, that is possible. I wouldn’t recommend it though. I use two different VMs to avoid that (except for metrics extraction, which needs to be on the host).
well in terms of hosting HA on a machine that is way more than HA will ever need NOT going the route of just haos and going through the container method (or VM) makes more sense to get more use out of the machine itself
and in terms of dummy proof
Good afternoon everyone!
you have to go without whatever requires the least amount of clicks lol
Agreed. I wouldn’t do bare metal on a powerful machine. Proxmox + HAOS in a VM probably give the most GUI experience.
enjoying your heat wave?
addons? 🤔
strapons
@tidal bronze new Kafatek grinder out: https://www.kafatek.com/index.php/store/
Addons for HA? hmmmm learn something new everyday
Only improvement on my current kit that I'm looking for is in getting all the grounds out of the grinder, so will have to see how this one fairs

Anyone know if its recommended to "Take control" of esp devices with esphome for things like the EP1, bluetooth proxies etc since the warning states "You will lose access to vendor-provided firmware updates"
Unless you’re compiling your own code for ESPHome devices, you don’t need to take over.
BT proxies might be a little different, haven’t messed with those myself. But in general people shouldn’t need to adopt or take over the code of their pre made ESPHome devices.
There's really no need to take over BT proxies. They're plug and play
i;ve seen before a (uk based i think) website which specialises in tablet wall mounts and also ultra flat usb cables etc, but i'm damned if i can find it now. does anyone know of it?
Not UK-based but maybe you're thinking of this? I saw it shared fairly recently and bookmarked it for later. https://mbmounts.com/
You know we have #memes right
i dont think thats the one but it looks like a good site, thank you
Has anyone used the Tuya integration lately? I ask because when I used it 1+ year ago it required a developer account for their IoT platform or something like that but it appears it does not anymore?
