I've added custom schema entries to AD before, I assume you can with other LDAP infrastructures.

I wrote a script to sync slack channels with a comma delimeted field I added and I added a field for legal name and we used their normal name field for their preferred name. I also added a field to store a key to link them to their payroll record

I agree, but the issue is my naming convention is usually "<area> door" to indicate the normal walk-thru swinging door for that particular area/room. But then when we get to the garage, that naming convention is now confusing. lol

Random tip of the day...If you're doing a lot of testing around the house with smart outlets and stuff, get yourself a portable battery with a standard wall outlet.

There's a bunch of other brands that make stuff like this, I think Anker and a few others on Amazon have one. But I just happen to have this one from Ryobi...

It's been awesome. Any time I want to test a smart outlet but I don't want to deal with finding a free outlet or being glued to a wall, I just use this to set it up, make sure it works, then move it to the right spot when I'm done.

I've been having to do a lot of testing in my detached garage. So I often need to test automations, pairing, etc where I plan on having the outlet plugged in. So this has been coming in super handy.
