You're legit insane.
nah just had to listen to the whole workings of it over the past year and half lol
Did someone play basketball with you as a baby?
thus why i stared with geofencing in the us is no joke
And I started explaining some of the fundamentals of how it works and you plugged your ears and decided you were an expert. You're a driveling moron.
I've heard some of those means of peoiple trying to get around it too
and how they combat that
That's cool, bro.
sorry, but like i said. good luck
I'm friends with a mechanic so I must know how every facet of an ICE works
wut
actually knows more about ICE from living with engineering students
Wouldn't be able to design one though D:
Exactly
I had him blocked for a while after I first joined here. I don't generally like leaving people blocked though so I unblocked him after a few. That was clearly a mistake.
yea, if you don't like hearing disagreement you should block me lol
I did unblock him for a while as well. Then he started insisting on obvious falsehoods and a mix of selective pedantry, so I decided it's not worth the energy to read messages 🤷
sensitive people and me do not get along
Nah, I welcome a disagreement, but you have nothing to contribute. You don't have a disagreement, you're just repeating yourself and whining because I didn't buy into your absurd claim of expertise. Your contribution to the conversation is akin to a 12 year old on Xbox Live telling his friends his dad works for Microsoft so he's basically an engineer.
You're far far worse than a disagreement, you're an active waste of time.
you made a bold statement including everything, i disagreed
When you disagree you need to provide some substance as to why your disagreement is valid, else you're just being an annoying twat.
"I know a guy" isn't a meaningful contribution.
Then you just started stringing together random words like it meant anything.
as you stated I don't do that type of work. while I listened to it in detail I didn't absorb every detail cause I don't care enough about it to try and spoof my location for every or any service i use. all i can tell you is your wrong in regards to the "any service" statement
my friend did the legwork in the begining of his job, he was that dude who had to drive across multiple states to get the geofencing accurate, as well as verify data collected by other paid companies that do that type of work
"My dad works for Xbox, guys!"
Says the guy whose entire argument is "you're wrong but I don't actually know anything so I can't articulate any reasons why"
admit it
and to that i say good luck
not trolling, not trying to be a dick
just saying that whole geofencing business in the US is big money and when laws got involved it got even more complex
It's amazing that you're legitimately stupid enough you think you've made a compelling point at any point in this argument.
You.
you are literally acting like an animal backed into a corner and insults is all you have left to throw
Well you just ignored me when I explained how it worked
The only thing that seems to be getting through to you is calling you a moron
your little side project is not been our discussion
as i said, who cares about google
sure, in your situation spoofing location data to google is possible.. hey way to go
Exactly, you didn't read or pay any attention to what I was saying
I only touched on some other stupid statement you made
then don't throw around words like "any"
I explained how spoofing is detected and you just ignored me because it didn't fit your delusional pre-defined world view that you have no interest in changing.
You didn't pay any attention to anything except the insults.
Any is the right word there.
you said any service
your words
then you made then mistake saying ALL geofencing is done by bugging cell phones
wrong again
You missed the first part of what I was saying, once I realized what you were trying to discuss I tried discussing that and you ignored me, then you ignored me when I pointed out how much you've been ignoring what I've been saying.
Lol, now your genius plan is to try to move the goalposts.
i am answering your question
LPT: GPS can be spoofed with a simple transmitter.
make up your mind
more like, goal suggestions 🕺
I'm not asking you questions. If this is the way you act I can't see anyone ever having need for your input.
The problem is how far your head is up your ass
here we go again
You're so sure you're right you're completely detached from reality and unwilling to listen to others.
how can i not feel right about the points I touched on? you act like i am talking about your side project
just drop it
for everyone's sake
put me on block.. please
how can i not feel right about the points I touched on?
A sane person would probably have read what the person they're talking to wrote and realized they're wrong
the points i touched on
Instead of whining that their friend knows a lot so they're an expert and anyone who says otherwise is wrong
what part of that is hard to understand?
Nothing you have said, not a single thing, has been correct.
I already told you that you might be right on whatever google thing you were going on about
You have been wrong on every single point you have proposed.
No, even with your bullshit claiming that devices can be perfectly geofenced, that's wrong.
like trying to argue with a doctor about your medical condition
Block me if you want me to quit calling you a moron. Please, I welcome you never responding to me again.
LOL, so now you've got a relevant doctorate?
lol insults don't bother me.. everyone who can't handle opposition results to that
everyone
Yea, so do people who are just frustrated by someone being a moron.
just means you are thin skinned
in this day and age, that seems to be the majority
i'm older than that lol
And that would excuse your shitty behavior how?
my shitty behavior while you dish the insults? love that correlation
You're just so insultable.
is that the equivalent of a slappable face?
ongy there use to tell people in this channel to go kill themselves when they disagreed with what he was saying
Netham45 the insulter
you guys are classic
I don't think you should do that, but I do think you should go spend some time re-evaluating how you determine rather you know something or not.
Because you're way too confident about things you know fuck-all about
your wrong on the any
And it's leading you to be close-minded and ignore input
you're*
always
Kk, glad you think so
That's called a delusion
it's called hearing how it works
Yea, your entire point all along has been, "I heard this, I can't back it up or explain or substantiate it but I heard it! Take my word, guys, I heard it!" and you still somehow don't realize why I think you're an ass.
well some of it is sensitive data
Fuck off
but yea i also don't recall every single detail as i already stated
cause like i also said, it dosen't impact or bother me
Yea, so you're worthless in this conversation. You have nothing meaningful to contribute. So shut up.
meaningful to tell you that you are wrong lol
Good Luck.. there lets leave it at that
Okay? I can tell you you're a goat, doesn't make it true.
Good luck
[And this was the point SonomaGTS realized he was being an idiot all along]
the insulter
I'm fine with that title.
i know, weak minds generally are
Maybe I can go around and start labeling people as chicken chasers
Implying any realization 😂
I already explained that, you fucking cretin.
you banked that on google no longer collecting data by trucks tho
is that not what you said?
ok my response to that was the "location" part of that wasn't being collected by the device
which then you banked on google no longer using trucks
is that accurate?
The location is collected by the device. There's no way for a device to know it's location other than self-reported information. There is no intrinsic property to location data that proves if it is accurate or not, therefore it is unverifiable and can be spoofed. Devices to spoof GPS exist, spoofing wifi location is equally easy. There are known attacks that are in the wild today you can go read about right now that attack things like this.
A device cannot be told it's location on a global scale, period.
ok and here is what I was trying to relay
Without something far more expensive than a state gambling board can create, at least.
this is from parts of what I remember of how I was told it gets collected (by generic companies) google amazon etc
when the vehicle drives through a neighborhood any device that transmit an id via wifi signal, routers, phones, computers etc etc it all gets cataloged by id, the vehicles gps location is tacked on that information.
would you disagree with that?
Google at least doesn't do it that way anymore
Which, I already mentioned and cited, to which you called me a conspiracy theorist
well because you dove down the i am invincle path it sounded like to me
I was diving down the 'You're not listening at all and you're being an ass' path.
i am trying to clearify some things up, would you like to continue?
Why are we even talking about the trucks again? They're hardly relevant to geofencing measures.
? on foot/trucks is still more accurate way to geofence accuratly
as you said
using just device "bugging" is not accurate
remotely
my whole thing above was services used that involved state laws
they would never do that remotely
None of that makes sense
foot/trucks geofencing? What?
foodtruck? don't make me hungry
If you mean they have people physically go check if machines are located correctly, okay. That's an audit, but it's not geofencing.
yes they do that, especialy near state lines
like 5 miles on either side of the line
Sending a guy out to ping the machine to check where it is isn't geofencing...
also only works with known devices. Defeating the entire idea of geofencing...
but yes they do triangulate, and even have to stop the vehicle to physically get out from time to time
maybe not google or amazon
but those geofencing companies that specialize do it
The 'how' on how this all works is what you're missing, and without it being there it seems like you're just confused on basically everything. It's just worthless assertions that you know a guy who does these things.
Having to have it regularly ping a beacon such as a truck isn't geofencing, if the truck isn't pinging it and is just collecting general location data then how is it relevant at all?
some of this is sensitive information. he didn't tell me everything. once the goverment got involved use your imagination on how it could be done
you never been told something and then told it can't be explained to you in detail?
not once?
hell i don't even know it
but i trust him
You're still a moron
atleast i'm not wearing a tinfoil hat
once the goverment got involved use your imagination on how it could be done
Seems pretty tinfoil-y
lol you made me think of that part of terminator dark fate movie where she thought putting her cell phone in a potato chip bag shielded the signals lol
and the terminator called her out on it
They should have called her out for emulating a dial-up modem over a cell phone in T3, too
blue box? 😮
I feel like the idiot is refering to 3 letter agencies hunting your butt when you circumvent the easily circumventable measures of geofencing
And never realizes that that's not geofencing anymore, but 3 letter agencies sending people out to whoop butts
I think the only reliable geofencing measures would be something like a challenge + response with a latency attached, but the infrastructure to have that reliable of a network on a state level would be absurdly expensive.
GPS signals could be verified to be recent/rule out playback attacks if they were signed but civilian GPS isn't
there is like over 30 companies that specialize in geofencing in the US (look it up) and they all use "proprietary" hardware/software and methods of doing it
can't remember the name of the company his company uses
but he has had to audit their work several times
Again, systems like that are largely reactionary -- a new attack or exploit gets discovered and is addressed. Basically everything can be addressed to one extent or another with enough money but the costs go up really fast with some of the more obtuse attacks. At some point just sending people out to regularly/randomly audit the machines is cheaper.
But that's not geofencing
Key fobs. But that's not geofencing. That's proximity detection to paired evices
I don't get how verifying location is not geofencing
and even those can be widened by magnitutes
challenge+response with latency is arguably proximity detection too
A geofence is a virtual perimeter for a real-world geographic area.
Sending an auditor out isn't that.
that dosen't make sense
The keyless access (passive fob detection) works exactly that way
And they are always playing cat and mouse with usability and relay possibilities around their latencies
Every couple years (probably closer to months) something manages to reduce the buffer and transfer time for transfer
So we get ever so closer to actual ME-wave traveling speed (C in air) to intended distance without safety margins
I've been considering disconnecting all of my keyfobs/garage door openers and building my own remote control devices to use wifi instead with some esp32's. I already have my garage door hooked up to HA, I'd just need to make some wifi garage door openers for it.
Car would take more planning
I saw there are IoT-targeted SIM cards for like $5/mo+$0.01/MB, I could make something with that to put in my car and link it to HA.
Could also put a GPS on it to track my car
Things like that flipper zero that LTT covered is really easy to build/get ahold of and can open most garage doors really quickly.
dosen't the range for that to "clone" the signal have to be somewhat close?
how do you not notice the dude sitting infront of your house looking at you waiting for you to click the button?
Most garage doors are susceptible to a rolling buffer attack that makes brute forcing them trivial
I wonder if garage openers have actually upgraded to something sophisticated or still just send a rolling cypher code o.0
I assume the latter. If it's even rolling
It could also be done by putting a magnetic device on the bottom of a car that relays to a remote control to capture the signal.
The IoT sims are cheap if you intend to equip multiple devices
From what I've see they are mostly for vendors, not for makers
that is tin foil
I should get a flipper 0 and use that to open the garage door here.
When I moved in the previous owner left a smashed up garage door opener here, I soldered the board in it to an esp8266 with esphome and put it in my garage.
just put an old fashioned manual lock on the door
most garage door openers won't try and power through a blockage
I don't want a manual lock on the door
I've got a door sensor on it and can remote control the opener. It'd be trivial to change that esp to hit a relay to press the garage door button, I did that in a previous garage with an RPi. If I did that I could just remove all the pairings from the opener.
I had a detached garage at an apartment around 2012, I put a wifi ap in there connected to an RPi running a webserver I could connect to to open the garage from my cell phone.
never any lengthy statistics done on crimes where tech is actually used but I am willing to bet it's pretty small
I don't think people with the know-how to make/use devices like that are worried about stealing random cars.
But the devices are getting easier/more available and there's not really any laws regulating them
didn't that same LTT video you mentioned on the flipper 0 also mention the devices being siezed and country bans being implemented?
I think like a crate was seized headed to the US and they still never heard an official reason for it
Looks like Brazil is seizing them too
someone that knows that they are easy to abuse but doesn't have the legal footing to actually hold them 🤷
A big problem with them is they're just such a simple design. It's hard to ban things that can be made from e-waste.
Yea, maybe ban mass production so every random edgy teenager can't open any door, but the concept of them is basically impossible to ban.
as you stated, anyone who actually knows how to use that stuff, wouldn't be using it to steal to begin with. currently the only criminals you should be proofing against is the ones who think they can spoof anything, er i mean the one's who use basic tools and method for brute entry
cameras are still a very good deterrence even if they don't seem to mean jack shit in retail stores anymore
You do realize you're just looking like more of a dumbass with those stupid jabs, right?
The problem with cameras is paying people to watch them is expensive
lulz
paying people to watch them?
the existence is the deterrence
but you could use HA to get alerts on your phone in that regard
i love my setup
i watch 3 properties 24/7
even get woken up if i'm asleep lol
Yea, most retail stores like you initially mentioned when you brought up cameras aren't going to be able to watch all cameras 24/7.
Yea, if they're not watched and people know that they're not a deterrence.
night thefts are monitered soly by entry alrms etc
people don't know that though
you can't be sure if someone is or isn't
Yea but the odds are good
just have GPUs watch them. AI revolution!
AI will need to figure out what hands look like before it can tell if people are pocketing things or not.
stores record and use the cameras reactionary.
Some larger ones will have someone monitor them live. But attention split between 16 cameras is just gamblig
that is a whole lot closer than you might think
AFAIK the accuracy of that was ok for the amazon stores with no tills.
office buildings, like sky scraper type have people monitering cameras 24/7
A big thing is just knowing things are missing to begin with. Without seeing it happen through active surveillance you're reliant on accurate/regular inventory counts which themselves can get expensive.
but walmart dosen't
Weren't those reliant on some sort of rfid system?
yea, depends on the type of store. It's easier to know your inventory when you sell luxury goods^^
It leverages the same types of technologies used in self-driving cars: computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning
https://justwalkout.com/faq
unsure.
And a place isn't going to find it worth it to have someone go through 2,000 hours of video for a missing $20 product
they don't do that
only if a 20k necklace poofed would they
BUT if you are running out of the store and someone sees you and is like, did they take something? they might go back and watch the last hour or 2
yes I worked retail as well when i was younger
Yea but that's easily solved by just not being blatantly conspicuous
they don't really care about a 20 buck item to begin with
it took those walmarts on the west coast to be robbed blind multiple times before they were losing too much to remain open
was like 93 billion or something in theft between all the stores
well maybe not in theft alone, in whatever else that accrudes cost with dealing with that shit fest that kept happening
That's cool. I thought it was more than that.
Someone would end up sleeping in them here though.
(The cashier-less convenience stores)
pretty sure those stores have some kind of staff that is either always there or visits regularly
the floors don't mop themselves etc
I see there was drama.
You guys should‘ve directed him/her to the complaints office (ME).
So that we as a community can solve apparent issues on this server.
Lel, as if I care
careful.. with that "shitty behavior" you could be called a dick
I considered pinging Frenck since he complained about missing drama yesterday
Riley should do all the techlinked videos
Do you recommend any software to project smart devices in house? Room views. What type of device where. To remember to add extra power cable there etc. It is more for myself to remember about save space for things, remember about power, pipes etc.
With ZigBee I don't care much about power since I get 3-4 years battery life
I still wouldn't mind a system that lays out where everything is in 3 dimensional space
that's 3 dimensional space laying around
So we have another reason not to watch them?
Besides of sensor the device which will be turn on/ off need power too 😉
Still if anyone can recommend software it will be great
That's usually a socket or a bulb
I have more extreme imagination;)
Two sockets!
nah, no six. 8 is reasonable. Only 2^n gets considered
2^128
Riley is the best one.. whatcha-talkin-about
Nah he's an annoying twat. Dan is mildly amusing.
figured you would have said anthony
Sounds like some LTT nønsense
Idiots preaching to idiots is such an interesting concept
he's so negative
sounds like discord
@prisma briarFriend came on and I asked for some clarification. In terms of what you were talking about. Google doesn't do geofencing so as I said you were probably right. However on my discussion about geofencing, companies don't care what your device transmits. They compare whatever device seen in the area along with the devices used for geofencing own gps and that's the location that gets cataloged. applications that require geofencing simply will refuse access if location spoofing is detected. Apparently that's where the money is between companies etc.
apparently there is a whole bunch more shit they also utilize to verify location for geofenced restricted applications
Does anyone have recommendations for powering an esp8266 without an outlet? Do batteries work fine?
sounds like #diy-archived problems. and yes. But not entirely trivial
Is it any way to conect two docker instances to traefik so I can use labels on two docker socets to one traefik?
I am not going to run docker in swarm cause of all the limitations
but traefik can by default just connect to own docker socket to use labels
I would like it to connect to two
I am trying truenas scale again now, and if thats k8 that should be easier to control with traefik I think
I run my cluster on Ubuntu hosts
my plan is to run a cluster on the homelab, but what I am doing now is the network NAS
so should be a bit easier to setup properly
I am still working on getting a 12 bay rack server that I will run a 12th gen I7 (I9 seems like a waste of money). I realized I needed a 40cm deep rack computer, not a 60
Truenas died in my house over a year ago
killer!
Truenas is a limiting apppliance
Debian native on my primary/ secondary, and esxi on my vsphere lab
I think tn core still has a place as a pure nas
I know you can do it all on bare debian or proxmox or whatever, though
As a pure Nas no
As an appliance for people who want something that does something specific, yes
I am really disappointed in scale, mostly because it went a different direction to what I was hoping
How can you put this so eloquently?!
Because I'm an experienced see you next Tuesday
I was meaning to just plonk files on, I am planning to use mine for that
I guess I could try and get debian working for zfs, but the docker box uses like 5W (optiplex mini), not worth trying to remove it from the rack for that little power IMO
so tired of seeing all this older shit being "renewed". who the hell thinks 1950's clothing is cool? why do we need brand new commodore 64's in 2023? why is every damn movie just a remake of something else?!
argh
because the old stuff was surprisingly good and people got lazy and government have made it harder to invent things.
not sure how the goverment made it harder to invent new things
more like companies figured out how to reduce quality and make more money
its much much harder and expensive to start a new company nowdays
the expensive part i can see, everything costs more etc.. but still don't get the harder aspect. harder in the sense that any type of original thought has faded away maybe lol
I can only speak for germany.
But nowdays, you have to file for a lot more paperwork before even getting started, pay a lot of money up front to start a company and once you have it, you need to pay people to process all the useless paperwork.
ah well here in the US i don't think there is any additional loops then there ever has been, at least nothing that prevents businesses cause I see new small stuff all the time
but what I see is always way over priced and quality dosen't match the tag or it's just something stupid
Also, ironically, when you run your own company, you earn less money. (in germany)
Making starting a new company instead of just applying for a job in another one very unappealing
well success has always determined profit
unless you are saying there is some kind of law that caps owners pay
no, but you have to pay a lot higher mandatory insurance fee's
from your own salary, after taxes
instead of lower fees before taxes when you are a employee
so no one is creating a new popsocket business in germany. but more profitable type of ventures should survive. which still kind of aligns with what I was saying.. no new original thought cause no one can come up with something that everyone wants that dosen't already have
so i've obviously just heard and dont know any people personally, that just avoid that kind of bs and do black labour or what ever you call that on the other side of the lake
basically, yes
here that is actually legal to a degree
there is a cap of how much you can make in a year and as long as you stay below that then you are pretty golden
here its to a tiny degree aswell, but not on the scale the people i've just heard from do
tons of people do small things, sell things on the side like etsy/ebay etc
but they cant grow it much bigger or it gets too obvious
^ thats limited to 30 items or so and or 3000€ a year in germany
yea i am not sure what it is here, but i'm sure it fluctuates by state
f u n
It got so bad in germany, that the platform provider has to snitch to the state when you've sold something.
Which resultet in the most popular online marketplaces to remove the "sold" button and replace it with "delete".
You cant sell stuff, when you delete it. Smarts.
heh
I will say one thing i have been seeing more and more of is people favoring and learning how to work on older cars. that indicates newer stuff sucks but still, more diy is always nice to see
modern cars are a hell to repair
like quality has dropped to the point people no longer want to deal with it lol
Stuff got so over regulated with cars.
Cars build in 2022 and after, must have these additional features:
- automatic emergency brakes (ok, i can see that point)
- automatic emergency steering (why must that be mandatory?)
- automatic speed assistant, scanning for speed limit signs and warns you when you go too fast (why must that be mandatory?)
- emergency brake lights (ok, i can see that point)
- car crash data logger / black box (why??)
- tiredness/sleep detection system (????)
- Camara for driving in reverse (??????)
- Tire pressure control system, since 2014
- a interface, to implement a system, to stop the driver from starting and moving the car, but no hardware yet
Why is such crap mandatory nowdays?
how does automatic emergency brakes work?
assume that's to prevent roll away.. but how does that work?
It brakes, when an obstacle is too close
i gotcha
just about everything you listed is standard on newer cars here too. not sure if it's required or not but they have it
and how much do such cars cost nowdays
one thing i hate that is mandatory is the auto engine off at stop lights etc, whatever that feature is called
I get what it does, but i hate it
well they "claim" the starter is made for the sheer amount of extra work it will be put through but I call bs on that. another is I just hate it.. it's too weird
my brothers car has that feature, the starter has made 0 issues so far, even at -20°C
starting engines is always more damaging to components than letting it idle
has any component died due to it yet?
our forester has it and we had no issues so far, but just the mechanical aspect of it contradicts it being a smart idea
I get the emissions and fuel saving etc etc
but as i said, starting engines is the most damaging part of the cycle
time will tell if her starter lasts
and what will get damaged?
they "claim" they are beefed for it
engines are a mechanical machinery, it's just common sense that initial start with extra vibrations, the start of metal on metal movement, the heat fluctuations it's the same for anything.
it's why stuff dies over time as is
i'd like to claim, that letting the engine idle for 20 seconds is more harmfull, that starting the engine in <1 second
harmful combined for the environment.. sure
but i got no data to back it up, its just what my mind does see as obvious
you'll probably save more money on fuel due to that feature, than a replacement starter will cost
no idea.. the "beefier" starter probably costs an arm and leg. not checked in on that
not to mention, not sure that is something i can replace here and if not then you got labor charges added lol
i think that feature has been out for a few years before we bought her 2019 so hopefully it works out
checked for my brothers car, the starter costs <90€ on ebay
I always turn that off tho, and that's another thing.. they are removing the ability to manually disable that feature which blows
I hacked it on my Audi to change the threshold that it uses to decide whether it needs to keep the engine running
But that stopped working on newer models
It used to be nice that I could turn off the ventilation system to get it to turn off the engine while waiting for gas at Costco, but now it just stays on all the time for some reason
I don't recall exactly what it related to, but I think it was done around the HVAC
Basically whether it could keep everything running on the battery
yea the forester does that, prevents the engine from turning off if the temps inside the cabin are not what the hvac is set to
There's some secret formula they use
to help keep you from burning up or freezing at the light lol
My engine hasn't turned itself off in several years. Not sure what changed
There's a dashboard icon that shows up when it wants to, but decided not to
welcome to modern electronics
which is another thing i dislike about newer cars.. everything is freaking eletronic.. even the parking brake.. like really? you took a manual cable driven thing and added a servo to control the mechanical part lol
I like that mine auto engages every time I park and auto releases when I tap the gas
Great feature
i don't think ours auto engages but it will auto disenge
you all will hate my decision, but this is what i see as the ideal car for me:
- full aluminium chassis
- very low air resistance and drag
- build 2000-2006 ish
cheap to run, 4 seats and when you need to haul a few things, you can lay the back two seats down for extra space
I had to hack that too
as a truck driver i find the vehicle hideous lol
:D
it looks goofy
but there is a 1.2L turbo diesel engine version, that gets real world 3.5L/100km (67 mpg)
is germany not going all gun ho on electric vehicles like everywhere else?
it kinda is
but most people go for electric SUV's :|
and then use it to drive alone to work
i am all on board for a electric truck but i am dead sure going to let others be the guinea pigs for this first decade
if you drive long distances or need to haul heavy things, i dont think electric is a great choice there for more than a decade from now
lol yea, friend of mine works with someone who bought one of the newer ford electric trucks and went to haul his boat to the lake and only got about 60 miles off a single charge
oh i wonder why
screw that, hopefully his truck was just fubared but still
Please Consider Subscribing, Liking, & Sharing! Big Thanks!
The A2 is great, unless you need to replace a component inside the dash, fucking nightmare
An old colleague drives one of those
There's some hidde cost wrt. magnesium wheels, but otherwise it's apparently a great car
Afaik the magnesium wheels are optional, not required
yea, they aren't required. But apparently noticeable in fuel consumption
Would be quite a few kg difference
Can't imagine it being more than 1%
In fuel consumption difference that is
or when you have to fix something in the engine bay, its so cramped
Imo they have become cramped since the mid 00s anyway
I think he said 0.2ish l/100km
on <4l/100km mostly city driving
My 08 Audi A6, a pretty big car, had to remove the air filter box assembly to replace bulbs on one side, and the brake fluid reservoir on the other side
And it was still a nightmare
My grandparents car is so empty in the front, i could stand in there with both my legs
That sounds like my 77 volvo
mhh, 45HP cars
63, but yes
Great engine room to work in
Audi nightmare
Fun fact, it took the local Audi workshop longer to replace bulbs than me, I didn't bother doing it more than once,
all modern vw group cars are that terrible
Says something about how shitty the front design is
its also bothering me, that it feels like 50% of modern cars is plastics
Sure feels like it
The xc90 engine room is ridiculously small
I'm very impressed with that 2.0 though, 0-100 in 5.4s in a 7 seater SUV is pretty bonkers
Supercharged and turbocharged
200HP ?
more moving parts = better! ||profits for the manufacturer||
7 year warranty is also nice
I just tell them something is creaking and they replace it
1 day before the 7 years warranty ends "my engine and gearbox is creaking"
Lawl
most of what makes it small is volvo being tanks though
a good 20cm of armor on the front o.0 (I know, crumple zones)
you gotta push the stuck russians tanks to the side somehow without damaging the car
Fun fact, most people who had xc90 d5 were told their cars could get sized by military if needed last march
you have told it before
D5 is Diesel mid sized engine?
Yes
lawn mower engines.. funny
Same with my BMW. Plenty of room
it's more the generation/design year than the brand that matters
Pretty good milage on this Toyota hybrid rental, 0.22l or roughly 100 us mpg
No self control
Now I know what to buy @last cedar for Christmas
🤔 salami?
Self control
pictures of imitations of raccoons?
talking about which, tomorrow my displates arrive 😮
Displates?!
https://displate.com/displate/4913831
I didn't get this one, but now I regret it ;'D
raccoon fur for her house insulation
with or without the original owner?
mostly without, you need a lot of raccoon furs to insulate a house well
Pretty sure the same joke is on there with karate
And that's a joke one of our trainers likes to make:
This sparks joy. For me, not you
This is a work of art
Why would you offer anything else in Europe by then?
Obviously energy companies love this, will be able to charge 1 Euro per kW and no one can do anything about it 🤣
More like that is ridicilously slow
I thought Mercedes goal of 2027 was bad already
The energy crisis should be mostly behind us at this point. Electricity futures including 24% tax for the next 24 months trade at an average of around 0.095€/kWh + transport. We shouldn't see anything like what happened in 2021 or 2022
If you want to be depressed you should look into the numbers for the rest of the world. It's only really Europe that is pushing for Electric vehicles. Most others will be using combustion engines for the foreseeable future
US has like 1% market share for fully electric
5.6 in 2022 according to google
Which was foreseeable
There's only a couple few markets that can invest and switch entire infrastructure
And at least two (NA/Middle east) don't want to because the profit from oil
which was up from 3.1 in 2021
I believe that number includes hybrids which are like 70-80% of them
But it's been a while since I checked

BEV would be the real thing so you are right
e-fuels will be interesting for converting the countries that are usually 2nd or 3rd order consumers of current cars made for high income countries
I'm amused by light vehicle market, and then they point towards a car that's heavier than meme level sized trucks as one of the best sellers
My cousin has an F150 and it's just hilariously sized in German cities
There was a picture of one of those monstrosities parked in Paris or something and it looked a bit out of place lol
yeah, I know one guy who has an F150, he also has a couple of magnums and yells yehaw a lot 😄
he's a very good cisco engineer though
but that isn't a redeeming quality
they actually use the car offroad and to transport heavy shit some times
a pickup is less dumb than those "city offroaders". Not sure what the term would be in English, but the type of BMW a middle aged woman drives
SUV duh
The dumbest of car designs cmv
SUVs are fine, if they are large enough to have useful purpose
My old tiguan was just a tall Golf
pretty useless
the XC90 is bae
What's the purpose?
Kids, family space
the XC90 lets me haul either 3 rear facing seats and 2 adults + strollers + more luggage
wouldn't you have the same space in any other large car? Why is it shaped like something that's supposed to climb mountains?
or 5 kids, two adults and a fuckton of luggage
It's mostly the styling I dislike with these. If they are convenient then fine
station wagon > SUV
I believed station wagon was better too
before I got a proper suv
my volvo v70 was great, but with two kids it was reaching its limit
the v90 is a fucking piece of shit 😄
so the xc90 here I came
What are the advantages?
easier to lift kids in and out (no need to bend down), bigger doors (no need to twist kids), bigger boot in all axis (for luggage and stollers when that was a need) and a lot better ride comfor riding higher up, better visibility of road
the V90 would mean I'd have to bend to put kids in, rotate them 45 degrees and the viewing angles and visibility from the driver position is horrendous
also there is a difference of 120l luggage space
I see. The boot is probably more about the overall dimensions of the car than the shape? One would think a station wagon would have an advantage there
I went from an estate to a “tall golf” for the reasons just stated 🙂
Fun fact, the V90 was a 1000l downgrade from my V70 because of the tilting of the rear
as a 2 seater that is
which I often do to transport bigger furniture
I'll just label both of you as soccer moms instead of admitting that I - as someone who doesn't even have a license - might be wrong
Also, 410bhp is fun in a 7 seater 😄
Mine only has 5 seats and a little over 300bhp 😦
Everyone with a family is effectively a soccer mum (at least sometimes).
Sometimes I drive 2mins to the shops on my own, sometimes it’s loaded to the brim with people/stuff
going shopping on your own 👀
I personally just love the sleek aerodynamic designs that some of the older cars used to have. The SUV is the opposite of that in many ways
I dislike the design of stuff like the BMW X6
There is only two BMWs I could ever have owned tbh
the 635csi or a 7 series from the late 80s early 90s
Nice, I've upgraded my primary system to bookworm
it was 225 second downtime
😄

Why haven't I integrated my monitor brightness with HA before, this is great... Maybe I should also do color temperature
hm, this was a fun little exercise. Adjust my config for photoprism so I can enforce the restricted container security policy
Where's the confusion Tinkerer? 🤔
@clear ferry what makes more sense
One namespace per application, or keep *arr and downloaders in a single namespace 🤔
Why do that from HA when there's local apps that can do it all?
I've been on vacation from Friday to the upcoming tuesday, then I suddenly got thrown into a project so I'm flying to denmark for three days on wednesday, apparently I've been booked into a spa hotel, nice 😄
I'd keep the media related in a combined namespace tbh
One namespace per application is... bonkers
Yea, I think it does make sense
And then photoprism and jellyfin in media servers
Potentially even paperless in that
I always look at namespaces as a proper way to do soft \ hard isolation between tentants, or shared apps
I've gotta sell myself to some UK customers so I can go visit Tinkerer 🤔
It's nice to have an isolated namespace to experiment with
Easiest way to nuke the entire config, including configmaps and services
@tidal bronze think i'm going to stop watching the news.. life seems so much better here in the midwest when i don't hear about you coastal weirdos lol
Good question. I think it's mostly to keep it all in one place in case there are some scenarios that I need to filter out with conditions
@forest edge don't watch news at all. Life will be much better
life seems so much better, when you stop watching the news anywhere
Only thing good I found in Canada 😃
And binge "Shrinking" 😃
ignorance is bliss huh? lol
Always brother, always.
should buy a remote island and just move there lol
Well that's california
the source of chaos? no thanks
If you travel like I do you would think/feel differently
if I spent more time away from the state then in it?
I would die to spend 24 hours in LA
so it's only those who have to endure long periods of being stuck in california that go nuts?
why would anyone willingly put themselves through that?
Like Maine, liquor stores are closed at 9PM, only food you got is Wendy's 🤣 at 11PM. Yep we live in different planets
there is life that isn't 24/7 open
I will take all the fires, droughts, chaos, smash and grab etc etc over that.
maine actually has some decent suburbs, secluded communities
they even have a town that supports golf carts everywhere
Nothing comes close to LA. Nothing.
yea cause when they do, they self ignite
califronia will be the first state to make "the purge" something real
that i have no doubt
56 countries, 42 states. Yep, I will take LA over anything, with the purge.
but you don't take it.. you are out of state 90% of the time lol
I think you like the "idea" of califronia but you hadn't been there long enough to really understand the reality of it lol
Which makes me love LA even more.
10 days in New Brunswick Canada, I was about to go "purge mode"
this is why older homes have pink and pastal green bathrooms.. people like you like the idea of something, execute it and then it's too late to reverse course and it's just ugly in person lol
yo quad
What was your result after playing with the mmwave sensors?
Are they usable for something cool?
💯 I highly recommend them.
Took out all battery powered zigbee backup sensors and I am so happy.
what info do you get out of them? From what I've seen: occupied, and a scalar distance?
I use them as Occupancy. Have 18 of them running.
The only bad thing is they get triggered by my roborocks so using boolean to ignore them at night. Other than that they are rock solid.
Now you need to integrate the roborock API better so you can selectivly ignore when they enter a room
Now that's a thought.
They all run after 1 AM so I ignore any MW in those zones until 4AM
plenty of homeless in califronia.. sure some would gladly replace the roborock and act as a occupancy sensor if you fed them
I do my part, every weekend I am working 8 hours at the soup kitchen. I don't think it's right to get homeless to act as Occupancy sensors.
whats not right about it? what do you think security guards do?
provide a chair and a number to dial.. who would bitch about that job?
Welp security guards has nothing in common with homeless. You just talk about it I try to do something in my human capacity. Talk is cheap.
offering jobs is within your capacity
You have no idea about homeless. I would just lay it it to rest.
There 1700 miles between news/social media and real life.
I mean I was just trying to joke a little. but jobs are jobs
There's a whole honeless community here that want to be homeless because they don't want a carbon footprint. You talking about jobs? Lol. Lot to learn my friend. This is not Midwest
don't want carbon footprint? not sure what that means. are they feeding and providing for themselves?
because if they are not and counting on others to help them.. tell me how that makes sense?
I don't try to make sense of things. That's not my job. Help where I can and move on.
well someone needs to make sense of something.. it's not exactly shrinking in numbers
That's for you. Not for me. Main reason I don't watch news. News does not help people. If I can change 1 life that's my goal. Nothing else matters. Life is pretty simple.
not for me, it's for the younger folk lol
I am very impressed with the younger folk. 90% at the soup kitchens are young folk. Kudos to them.
we don't have quite the numbers in homeless here as you do there. probably cause this is a republican state but like most states, there is no shortage of programs in place to help someone in need get a leg up, it's just many aren't trying imo
I hear you. But I am not here to judge, that's not my call. I am hear to help in my capacity. What people do with thir life is their juju I am in no position to judge
right now, because of the new generation not wanting to work many diffrent type of jobs.. like many in this server who want to work from home, leaves thousands and thousands of job opening open.. every place is suffering from lack of employees.. how is that possible?
That's for them to decide. People who can make 2k a week from home ain't going to serve food. It's an era for smart ones to make money while they sleep.
yea well the math is scary.
Not for me. 😀
course not, your a Californian lol
Yes sir. Where everything new starts ❤️
you guys justify spending over 20k on a single public outhouse that ultimatly never gets built yet the money gets spent lol
We need to be wild to be the 4th largest economy in the world right? Might not make sense to you in Missouri but makes dollar sense all day.
you know there is another fault line just off the coast that runs from Oregon on down that showing signs of activity.. maybe mother earth will solve some of the issues lol
Numbers never lie. Talk is cheap. You gotta show up to talk up you know.
today 4th, tomorrow 204th.. it's no thang lol
Dream on playa
they are already calling it lol
you guys can only shoot yourself in your own foot so many times.. you are running out of toes
Don't you worry son. We will be all good. Mind you the fed funds you and 90% of states use is our money. Yep kale eating money. So wish us the very best always.
gonna die laughing the first postcard i get from you from Texas lol
I will end up in Timbuktu before TX. Sorry. Lost cause.
don't worry @peak cloud will show you the ropes.. get you adjusted to texan life
help you buy a jeep rotf
After what happened TSLA I will keep 2000 miles away from there.
I suppose you could go to Florida.. but gross lol
atleast there you could still brag about your oranges ol
Lmao. Never. I don't go outside the room when in FL. Who wants to be in swamp
I don't think it's humid further south is it?
don't all the old peope retire down around the tip?
I'm further south than Florida and its humid AF here
110% humidity always allover guaranteed.
The Bahamas more like 120% humidity
You can never be more than 3.5 miles away from the ocean on my island
🤷🏼♂️
You walk out the doors of the airport and it's like "someone please call 911"
Only bearable way is land, National Executive pick up, hotel room, lock doors!
you wuss lol
Hotel hallways are hot. So gotta lock the doors and get room service to leave food outside. 😃
Not here
what happend?
Hotel hallways are ice cold because of quad
😂🤣
Bro when I stay in the hotels here I open the windows
Wowza
I don't remember orlando being that bad but then was only there for 2 weeks lol
I've been to Orlando about 50 times, Orlando is where you wanna lock your doors
talking about the weather
About 20 friends and kids met at Disney last year. 6 days I stayed in the room. It's simply torture
Well I always have the AC on in Orlando
My old boss says Disney world is the biggest advert for safe sex in the world
don't worry. you could always live like this
Can't believe people pay money for that shit
safe sex? i don't get it
Lol
oh
disneyland there had an adults only section.. it was certianly easy to pick up girls lol
And my dumb cousin bought a place in Tampa. Had the audacity to invite me to spend the weekend. 😃
there you go! you already got family there! it's perfect!
That's weird I too have a dumb cousin in Tampa
I went there for a weekend. Left in 8 hours. Can't take that shit.
sooner or later you will be driven out of california.. you may as well plan now
Miami 🤮
Yeah I hate Miami
i couldn't do miami.. not cause of the weather but cause of the stereotype lol
Only place out of LA I like in the states is WY
if I ever left here that community in maine where they put golf cart paths everywhere really sounds interesting to me lol
I could live there.
you'd probably freeze to death in colorado
I've lived in Sweden above the arctic circle so I doubt it
there is noway someone adjusted to living in always warm to hot weather could stand to be in a mountain range
thin air, cold as hell
insta death
WY shit food but weather is so nice. Low humidity
Interesting since you can ride your mobility scooter everywhere?
Sonoma I grew up in the hills in England lmfao
damn right. got a problem with that?
Malvern hills are all 10,000ft+
Which part@steel crag
West Midlands, Malvern
Love everything about UK. Specially Scotland
In Worcestershire
I said thin air.. not breezy air lol
10,000ft up is pretty thin
That's the sauce land, right?
It is indeed
Nup
Just try not to run anyone over
War jester^^
Wore sauce tee ree
Queue the jokes
Blood sausage for breakfast is where's it at
Well since I gave up meat not for me since 1994
Wow
I'm an old bastard
I just do transit in LHR for blood sausage
I love Heathrow
Me too
I like to walk around there so much I nearly always miss my damn flight
There's this hole in the wall just outside Heathrow, that servers a badass breakfast. All the airport personnel eat there. Simply badass breakfast
I might know where you mean actually
I'm pretty sure my uncle and I stopped there the last time he picked me up
I love a proper fry up brekkie
And he does even more so
Yep very popular amongst the staff there. Right outside and there's a line always for breakfast
lines.. gross
It's worth the immigration hassle. Just to have that sausage and black pudding
Well I'm usually getting off at Heathrow
Dont usually transit thru the UK without stopping for a couple days or my family would kill me
I do LHR 4 to 6 hours for that breakfast if I am heading to EU
you'll stand in line to eat something for hours on end but you can't handle a little humidity from the airport to your hotel room?
wtf
I will take anything in life but sorry no humidity
😂🤣
he said there was a line, so I thought he meant that lol
The English queue up for everything mate
Sometimes you're on a line and have no idea why
so glad i live where i live
lol

I don't care for tourist locations
The whole country isn't a tourist location tho
You rarely ever see any tourists where I live
And I'm only 3 miles out of the "city"
Bliss
those cookies look a little over cooked lol
Where. Are. The. Mushrooms. You. Heathen.
That's because its blood sausage
i figured they weren't cookies, but still look like burnt cookies lol
And those toms are too ripe for me, gib green tomato
Also gib bubble and squeak
I do turkey sausages 🤷🏼♂️
Proper fry up for brekkie and a ploughmans for lunch
@steel crag after getting used to such great breakfast sausage how do you survive with the shit breakfast sausage in the US?
Hit the chippy for dinner and krazie is a happy man
shit breakfast sausage in us?
I gave up beef and pork.... so I have to eat shitty sausage anyway
Yes. Shit in comparison.
I skip that shit always. It's not sausage it's some sort of plastic
plastic? where do you eat?
you comparing that to mcdonalds or something?
Nah, everything I buy just about comes from the US
maybe but dosen't mean you have access to everything lol
With the exception of the British products I import especially
that image above looks gross to me
I buy mine from the British Grocery store here. Can't eat this US crap
The internet has access to everything
Its heinz baked beans
wtf is wrong with the tomatos?
Yep Heinz FTW
Fried
the only thing on that plate that looks ediable is the sasuage and meat on the left.. and the blood sasuage looks gross to me
And other than being a bit too ripe for my taste nothing
Madman
The beans are amazing, the eggs are just fine but the blood sausage definitely isn't for everyone
no bacon.. no thank you. no maple sasuage? no thank you lol
Black pudding and blood sausage are acquired tastes
Theres ham
yea a flap of it lol
Talking British grocery store, was there a minute ago. Best chocolate ever.
We can actually get these here now
Ham. 🤮
99 flake stuck in a cone
Yessssss please
Those are nearly $3 here and I buy em by the box
Just saw that US Nestlé owns Cadbury now.
this is why I couldn't trust quad picking the places to eat.. he would make me throw up too much
Yeah
At least it's not Hersey
Oh no. Never.
Americans have no idea how to make chocolate
Oh hellllll yeah
don't smarties cause cancer in california?
Air has a warning label in California
Yep
m&m's dont
just think it's ironic, to pick one over the other lol
I love both, but smarties are superior in every way
i didn't think smarties was chocolate? aren't they just packed sugar?
They are in the UK
Chocolate that is
And they are here too
Then again our Coca-Cola is made with real sugar
wtf two types of candies with same name
euro got the short end of the stick when it comes to our pop
been like that forever
Smarties Vs Smarties 🤣
thats messed up
no wonder it isn't sold here
the sugar packed version has been around since i was a kid
Yep. I like them too.
Those sugar rolls are called something else here, not smarties....
But if you eat the UK smarties you will never eat M&Ms again.
If you eat a UK Mars bar you'll never eat a US one
Of course. Mars all day.
i eat reece's pieces
no other chocolate comes close
Welp for me it would be this. My all time favorite
Yes, but I had no idea they came in big bags!
We only get the tubes
And I always eat them all in one go
i have something like that.. i think they good gut bacteria for your stomach gummies lol
For that I eat probiotic yogurt
Sorry GTS you don't get these things in middle earth
probably the same thing, they just sell it to you west coasters as if it were candies lol
Woah give me 30 minutes. I will hate you later.
But fruit pastilles come from further east than the east coast so technically you're a westerner too then
Listen! That shit is so good
And if you've got a 99 flake to crumble on it....... 🤤
haha there is even a term for it. Functional Candy
Murder she wrote
when they trick people to eat shit that's good for them when they think it's candy
You mean like when I wallop electronics to make it work and they call it percussive maintenance?
yea except i imagine these practices actually work
Percussive maintenance is really a thing tho
now i'm craving green apple
Granny Smith green apple or jolly rancher green apple or blow pop green apple?
Let's see if you're a man of culture
Welp gotta get to my grill. Going to have some fruit pastilles with vanilla ice cream topped with flakes after. 😋
any of the three.. although I haven't seen the jolly rancher type in awhile and the blow pop is so not good for you lol
yea your gonna need something to help ease the passage after eating all of that
That's why the ice cream
nothing like self inducing diarrhea so you can eat weird stuff lol
@umbral cliff now I wanna see the au version https://jalopnik.com/the-aussie-mad-max-is-so-much-better-than-the-lame-u-s-1729629931
although I have to admit, the aussie voice of the knight rider is too high pitched.. dude sounds girlish to me so I think the american version of his part at least is better lol
Didn't even realise there was a US dub. But also not surprised
made me wonder what else was dubbed lol
Usa always wants a local dub because apparently films without American accents aren't as popular
I understand the logic of accents being hard to understand like it states in that article. i understood everything in those clips
but some accents can be hard to understand
i guess Crocodile Dundee wasn't dubbed but apparently the au version has 6 more minutes of swearing lmao
Most of the time it isn't for understanding, it's because Americans want American stuff
I can barely understand some us accents lol
that is simply not true lol
i have a hard time understanding some NY'ers
and they have a hard time understanding me
apparently I don't unerstand k8s NetworkPolicies =.=
I have one that allows egress to an IP outside the cluster, but it doesn't work 😦
Maybe because the target IP is on one of the nodes? o.0
That isn't normal afaik
One of Norways largest Unions have gone on strike due to only being offered 5.2% pay increase this year, this will be interesting
🤷 I fixed the client to use the cluster internal network and the network policy makes sense now
I'll test around a bit with that. I suspect it's a bug in cilium? 🤔
Might be, sounds like a corner case anyway
well, I hit it with another IP
The api server exposed into the cluster 🤔 kinda weird
@clear ferry just because I know you will hate it: https://github.com/Ongy/edge-k8s/blob/main/charts/jellyfin.yaml#L235
@clear ferry your Volvo was turbo and supercharged right?
how else would a 3k pound aluminum can propel forward with a lawn mower engine? pretty sure nos was used to get up to speed limit
The xc90 yes, the V70 no
Sorry everyone, it is me raising world sea levels
TIL: pipefail and grep -q don't work well together
Hey Tinkerer I remember you mentioned shit spy shows a couple days ago
do you happen to know The Bureau? "Le Bureau des Legendes"
just wanted to share this, as it's very close to the real thing (french production)
none of that james bond crap
Btw, presentation of hololens used in DC, I love it
