I like Siemens/ Vanderbildt SPC, integrates nicely with Home Assistant, but it is very weak on power output

#

Do you have a wired or wireless system now @clear ferry

#

SPC has wireless sensors if you specifically wanted that

#

Teletec Neo is also wireless but no good integration to HA

#

Teletec 1864 is IMO too old, but integrates well with HA

I have wireless via Sector Alarm \ G4s still

@tiny leafwut? the tree maker is just software. the ancestry part is optional

I mean very expensive model ?

I think you have to pay one time for the tree maker. use to be super cheap like i paid 14 bucks for it but no idea what they ask now

now if I ask for a free alternative, are u gonna answer or be pissed off ?

Not related to HA. But I figured this would be a good spot to ask.
I'm working on making a floor plan for my house. I've finished the floorplan using floorplanner.com, and then I exported the 2D image to png.

Now I want to start adding things like electrical diagrams...outlets, switches, lights, circuits, etc.

Anyone have an app they can recommend for doing this? Honestly I'm even find with having to redo my floorplan from scratch if it means getting it out of floorplanner.com.

#

The main driver that kicked off this project was mapping all my breakers to their outlets. But then I realized I'd need at least some sort of floor plan to do it. So I just dove in and did a complete to-scale floorplan.

#

The house I bought is like 55 years old, and the old owner really liked DIY, unfortunately. So the wiring here is a mess. 1 breaker controls the most random of things.

Seems that's my only option. Xfinity is still forcing their DNS servers somehow

#

Just ran a DNS test, and it's all Comcast. None of the upstreams I set in Adguard

The pin on one side needed a slight deburr to make it fit the predrilled hole in the caddy, but they do fit well, I just haven't got it into use yet!

Need to note down all the dhcp leases and such to setup opn again, and plan a day where I can take it down and clean it, install the fan controller and reinstall

So do I just have misconceptions about having a job, is the area I live really that bad, or is selling your soul and all of your free time only avoidable by death? And all of the crap that's peddled about it being "rewarding" are just people trying to cope with what they've gotten themselves into?

last cedar
#

I guess you are in the US? Things are a little better in some parts of Europe, at least in Sweden, but it is far from a perfect world where everyone is equal

#

But the general idea where you work most of the days, most of the hours you are awake, leaving you too tired to do a lot, and only having about just enough money to "live" is the same

capitalism land is more like it

clever mortar

A lot of it depends on what you like doing, what you're good at doing, and what people will pay you for.

#

You can get a job you enjoy, that pays you well enough, but ... it's not like that's the default for most people

I've had a variety of jobs before, but I guess I just snapped or something. I can't make it make sense to myself.

Just willingly sign up for that? And put myself in a position where I have financial responsibilities to where I'm stuck?

I've been ... maybe not lucky, just fussy ... I've enjoyed most jobs I've had, and if I haven't then I've moved on

It happens, and usually it's not personal

I have been in situations where it absolutely was personal... and I'm damn glad to have got out of those

I was a PA for local television news and they had a huge, consistent problem with black frames in video packages. File transfer problems, poor editing, etc. Anyway, I turn around and use ffmpeg to make a simple black frame remover with a idiot-proof GUI which prevented them from having to open the file in the editing software, manually removing, and re-export. Cut the time it took to remove the frames from 15 minutes down to 3 minutes and automated the whole process

#

They BERATED me for it.

#

I got so much shit for that.
