Since (and from experience) a melbourne to Beijing flight is cheaper than a Melbourne to Hong Kong flight, even though you go via Hong Kong for the beijing one

#

So people booked the full one, and jumped out in hong kong

#

(for example)

#

So airlines had to deal with missing passengers, underbooked flights, etc

#

Cheaper to just give a real penalty to it all

agile jewel
#

Well, thing is, kind of the age of 13 couldn't board in Italy without their parents. Even with consent. So he had to take a train to France. Then when he wanted to board the return plane, they cancelled his ticket. No refund, nothing. And it took 2 hours to resolve, almost missing the return flight

umbral cliff
#

That sounds like the person under 13 should've sorted it out with the airline to begin with

Why is travelling by train so ez and planes have to be such pain in the ass

But what exiles said

umbral cliff

Though yes trains are easier, when you're not dealing with international borders

yeah; but here the light rail just had a face eating attack....

umbral cliff

When you have proper borders (not the EU situation) they become complicated

Domestically flying is easy in australia, but thats because our train network is non existent between cities

(Major link between sydney and melbourne, train still travels at the same speed it did 100 years ago)

finite atlas

you sure can do

That's theoretically what like 6L of explosive liquid

#

If you can live without blood

finite atlas
#

i think you'd need at least a few minutes of being alive, to board the plane
your "blood" can then be detonated with a timer

so fully replacement will likely not work

#

Another interesting thing about the Charles Bridge is how it was built. The bridge was built from Bohemian sandstone. It is said that egg yolks were mixed into the mortar to strengthen the construction of the bridge – just like adding egg yolks when baking to make the dough hold together better.

#

Though nobody knows if it's a cap or not

Some ass tried to drive over the bridge. Can you imagine? Only got fined like 50$

gitter, sounds like a weird version of grindr

peak cloud
#

So what you're saying is you like the non-weird version of grindr?

agile jewel
#

So moving to discord helped the community grow?

peak cloud
#

Massively.

agile jewel
#

Why even use gitter in the first place?

peak cloud
#

Our numbers grew exponentially after moving to Discord.

#

Because Discord was not around back when the community chat was started.

agile jewel
#

Oh

#

2013 correct?

peak cloud
#

I think we moved over to Discord in July of 2016, but I could be very mistaken. I've had a few ranch waters since then.

#

Or maybe

#

Buffalos

#

Idk

#

Are horses native to NA?

peak cloud
#

Lmao, a buffalo is the name of an american bison.

agile jewel
#

Yeah. Didn't they use them?

peak cloud
#

I'm honestly not sure, that's a good question. I need to do my research on that.

agile jewel
#

Isn't genetically a bison similar to domesticated cow?

peak cloud
#

But carriages are historically carried by horses.

agile jewel
#

In Europe by gypsies yes

#

Dunno about NA

peak cloud
#

I will do my research and get back to you on that.

#

In the late 1400s, Spanish conquistadors brought European horses to North America.

So no, they are not native to this land.

Exceptions are mi Player, which turns on ads after 90 days. So just uninstall that and install better video player. And i believe Mi browser. But everyone uses chrome anyways. Launcher has "ads" in the sense of recommended apps, which can be turned off, as in all the other apps

But if you lazy, just change your location in the settings to disable ads system wide.

For me, changing the location also allowed me like 50% boost on the audio amplifier - it's crippled in software due to EU bullshit laws

So I guess I managed to get this far in life without learning how heaters actually work? Why doesn't an increase in outside temperature directly correlate to an increase in max garage temp?

If it's 37F outside, and the heater is able to make it 57F in the garage, then why can't I get the garage any warmer than 57F when it's 47F outside?

night zodiac
#

I asked my father for you, lol. I'm waiting on a reply. he is a big HVAC nerd.

midnight adder

Thanks. I'm expecting the answer to be something like "get a better setup" because it is just a little $100 infrared quartz heater, but people were getting much better performance in the reviews. Its not a situation where I'm looking for a permanent 240v solution though

forest edge
#

insulation

#

insulation works both ways. if you thinking your garage will warm up when the temp suddenly changes outside it won't

midnight adder
#

So I have to remodel before I can get any better heat?

clever mortar
#

Or at least insulate

forest edge
#

generally adding additional heat sources is cheaper

clever mortar
#

Well, insulating is cheaper ...

forest edge
#

that depends on his garage

#

here in the US they will finish the inside of a garage and not place any insulation in the walls

clever mortar
#

Ah, so ... open the walls and insulate

shrewd veldt
#

Often times garages are not insulated

clever mortar
#

That's ... so very stupid

#

It costs peanuts to add insulation at construction time

forest edge
#

if it's a newer home it may have it, if it's an older home that fiberglass insulation has already deteriorated lol

#

I had to replace all of it in this house when i remodeled.

#

the fiberglass literally turned into like ash

midnight adder
#

At this rate, I'll just be happy I can get it warmer than outside. It's not like I'm building a workshop. This is my smoke hole that I cleared out in my hoarder-parents garage. The tentative plan is to toss everything in here because it hasn't seen the light of day in over a decade. But of course my father refuses to just hire a junk removal service, so that will be a long time before its accomplished

#

This is all good information for when I do own something, though.

shrewd veldt
#

Infrared heaters are really good at warming you/surfaces up rather than warming the air up, which is ideal in a garage where you don't really want to spend money heating the space only to open the door and have it all go out

forest edge
#

to give you an idea with my garage which is uninsulated. I have 2 1500w space heaters. if the temps outside stay above 20f one space heater can make the portion of the garage i stand in bearable with a jacket. if it falls below 20f I have to use the second just to make a very small space cut the sharpness of the cold

static schooner
#

Even if the walls are insulated, builder-grade garage doors tend to suck at insulation, especially with the gaps around them.

forest edge
#

I would consider one of those ceiling/wall mounted IR heaters. Those heat the object not the air

static schooner
#

they keep the wind and casual thieves out, but not the weather really
