basically buy ender 3v2 then you need to replace the bowden tube (white tube it comes with) with a capricorn tube for safety and it also prints a bit better because less slack in filament pushing through the tube. then you use the yellow bed springs instead of the stock ones because the stock ones dont have enough tension and they let the bed get unlevel. then you replace the extruder arm assembly with that aluminum one because the plastic one it comes with fuckin breaks and it also cant handle pushing filament as well as the aluminum one with dual gears (the stock one has a tensioner and one gear)

#

comgrow is a good company, definitely worth buying from them. you can even buy refurbs from them even cheaper but i wouldnt do that as a first printer

hollow glacier

hue entertainment is worse than diy with led strips etc

ashen parrot

hollow glacier

wled + hyperion + whatever else you want can do magic

night zodiac
#

I have the sync box too

Yeah, I have had this since before those existed

hollow glacier

hue's implementation of sync behind tv is so much worse than hyperion/hyperhdr

night zodiac

That's cool

hollow glacier

and i say this as someone who owns 40+ hue bulbs (on zigbee2mqtt not their shit hub)

ashen parrot

hyperion or hyperhdr can be ran as an addon inside haos

i've been using it for a year that way

ashen parrot
hollow glacier
#

yep

#

here

#

i moved from hyperion to hyperhdr (fork of hyperion) and i think it is a bit better

ashen parrot
#

I checked out hyperion a long time ago, it probably changed in the meantime so thanks for this

hollow glacier
#

it includes hdr support and hdr to sdr tone mapping

#

and just generally seems to provide better colors even for non hdr setups

ashen parrot
#

yeah back then it needed a Pi or something, and I didn't have it so I just looked for other stuff

hollow glacier
#

i use hyperion android grabber on nvidia shields

#

and a d1 mini esp8266 behind tv running wled

ashen parrot
#

wait so this setup still needs wled

#

like, I can't just set up hyper hdr and run it like that can i?

#

hmm can't openrgb be used instead of wled?

hollow glacier
#

it needs something to control the leds with

#

either a pi with gpio or esp or something

#

wled can talk to openrgb

#

wled isnt needed specifically, it's just what i use in my setup

#

if you have an LG tv you might be able to root it and save a couple steps too

ashen parrot

thats awesome

#

that's what Im lookin for, to go around the wled thing cos I can't be bothered getting a D1, couldn't find one in my area and I won't order from amazon cos I'd end up paying 10x more than the actual board for the transport

why does a salt lamp need heat?

#

they do nothing

midnight adder

lol negative ions bullshit

orchid rose
#

I'm getting some ancient eastern medicine vibes from this

midnight adder
#

i mean ye salt is hygroscopic you can get it dry again whit heating

#

the rest is so vaporware 😂

#

because you know, water evaporation

forest edge
#

seen that first hand

midnight adder
#

ye if you push like 2kW in a Ozone generator

#

not if you warm a salt chunk with 30W of power

ashen parrot
#

salt is whatis used inside nukes for the triggers

#

it's not the impact which triggers the atomic reaction for the uranium but the impact triggers the molten salt

midnight adder
#

nukes are typically not impact triggered because you do not want the radiation fallout spread with the dust, they are typically triggered a few hundered meters above ground by an initial explosion that starts the nuclear reaction

#

you can use different materials as moderator to stop them from reacting to early

#

but that has nothing to do with a salt lamp

ashen parrot
#

umm yes it does because the salt

forest edge
#

hate on salt lamps all you like. some people like them.

#

they do give off a nice ambient light tho

midnight adder
#

ye they look nice and cozy

#

but thats about it

forest edge
#

well salt absorbs water in the air

midnight adder
#

ye right, we were there, you can dry them with heat

orchid rose
#

In significant volumes it can stabilize humidity yeah

midnight adder
#

or lower the ambient humidity ye

#

but still, there are better ways to do that, even self regulating ones

ashen parrot
#

hmm yeah now I see that's a special type of nuke. you were right about the regular nukes but thisjust goes to show how the principle does indeed relate to the salt
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salted_bomb

A salted bomb is a nuclear weapon designed to function as a radiological weapon, producing enhanced quantities of radioactive fallout, rendering a large area uninhabitable. The term is derived both from the means of their manufacture, which involves the incorporation of additional elements to a standard atomic weapon, and from the expression "t...

midnight adder
#

If you want a nice looking chunk of salt, buy a salt Lamp, if you want to control the humidity or clean the air from pollution, get an airfilter with an ionizing UV Lamp (not the Placebo ones with LEDs) and a Bag of Moisture absorbant(you can even buy them self leveling to like 55% or 60% rel. Hum)

forest edge
#

just like how they are finding out that incandescent and halogen bulbs do better for your mental health over leds

midnight adder
#

have nor read a single study about that, that hold up to the peer review

ashen parrot
#

peer review is not part of the scientific method

midnight adder
#

it is

forest edge
#

lol

midnight adder
#

lol no

#

climate change is a proven thing

ashen parrot
#

no, it isn't it's only part of academia

forest edge
#

I dunno, they do seem to go back and forth on it still

ashen parrot
#

it is redundant. Reproducing an experiment doesn't need appeal to authority

midnight adder
#

but all studies you find do not correctly list the Spectrum emitted by the LEDs or the type of driver they were using

forest edge
#

I think it's the flicker

midnight adder
#

ye which would be due to the driver

#

you can get rid of the flicker if you do it right

forest edge
#

even when we don't perceive a flicker apparently there is one

midnight adder
#

even if you PWM drive an LED you can just rise the frequency and then smooth it out with Caps

#

and you get a nice DC

#

without measurable flicker

forest edge
midnight adder
#

I studied Electronics, I know what the heck i‘m talking about

#

that’s basically what i‘m doing daily

ashen parrot
#

well you support peer review which kind of makes me doubt

midnight adder
#

I mean, in that part of EL development you can just measure it

#

even with cheap hardware at home

forest edge
#

not finding anything that states they eliminated all flickering

#

but do keep running into the mental health stuff lol

midnight adder
#

not the CRI but you can measure the flicker just by probing your Vreg out

#

if you get a nice DC output your LED is flicker free

forest edge
#

I wonder if a lot of this is referring to dimmer leds

midnight adder
#

and you could use a resistive load to current limit your LED instead of using PWM dimming and that behind a linear Vreg or use a fixed current linear Vreg and you will have no flicker even when dimming

#

ye a lot of cheap LED deivers still use slow PWM dimming and are not well smoothed out on the Vout

forest edge
#

you keep saying "could" which makes me think that such products don't exists yet

midnight adder
#

but that does not mean that it’s impossible to make them flicker free

midnight adder
forest edge
#

ah

midnight adder
#

but you can find them in high quality workspace lighting

#

I even have one hanging on my workbench

forest edge
#

well see. so the studies are accurate because of the limitations

midnight adder
#

it’s a 700€ LED lamp

midnight adder
forest edge
#

well one thing i read said the flicker is still there upwards of 150hz

#

our eyes can't see it, but our brains do

midnight adder
#

If they would test cheap and expensive LEDs and measure there CRI and flicker frequency they would conclude „cheap LEDs may lead to health issues, well designed ones are fine“

#

ever publication I saw so far concluded „leds are a health risk“ and thats plain wrong

forest edge
#

„cheap LEDs may lead to health issues, well designed ones are fine“
there's something to print on the box lol

midnight adder
#

and there is a biochemical reaction that converts photons hitting your retina into electrical signals which can be saturated completely, you can even measure that. It’s dependent on the amount of photons hitting your eye though so it’s not a fixed frequency

#

you can not say „the Retina is saturated at 300hz“ for example

#

that might be the case at like 500lx but not at 150lx

#

and I think it was something arround 1khz where this reaction was always saturated so everything over that does not get trough to the brain because the Electrochemical reaction in the eyes is to slow

the switch is completely indepent of the GFCI/receptacle and there's nothing physically preventing it from even being on a completely separate branch circuit
