The entire "price/performance" metric is completely pointless if you're dealing with realtime workloads that don't parallelize extremely well. There is no "cost effective", only "good enough".
When choosing a CPU for those applications you're not worrying about price/performance. You're concerning yourself with what crosses that "good enough" threshold as cheaply as possible. If you need that 7600X it doesn't matter what a 10th gen i9 costs.

powering the ssd off the usb on the pi pretty much maxes it out. in fact some ssd's wouldn't even work cause it wouldn't get enough power
so the zigbee stick was underpowered

the camera you see on the left-bottom corner is Mi 360 and there's no way of integrating it into HA. Apparently there was, but not anymore (they locked the software-downgrading). That smart plug is essentially my way of securing the Chinese-Cloud camera

Oh wow that's worse than I thought. I am living in 15qm and have been running it on Pi for a long time on SD. I don't want stuff to break on it's own, so that's why I'm switching to SSD early. Since another SSD is never a waste and Pi400 is enough for me, I couldn't see a better option for the budget I have

Re: replacement for a raspi, I grabbed 2x optiplex 7050s for 320 Euro, had 4GB RAM each iirc, ended up with 8GB in one, 16GB in the other, use one for Blue Iris and the other for all the dockers
