#Fantastic Four: First Steps
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
Nothing will beat Spiderverse but the multiverse is a way to tell so many unique Marvel stories and it's mostly used for fanservice
It’s great to finally have a Fantastic Four movie that’s set on its own Earth
Until they reboot everything and put everyone together in the main timeline and the next fantastic four movie ditches the 1960s aesthetic
I’m kinda hoping after Secret Wars they run with the retrofuturism aesthetic being on the main Earth
Plus they dropped all of it when the Silver Surfer arrived too
They knew how to balance the typical comic book stuff with making a good movie
I'm going to see this movie again with my brothers sometime so my thoughts on Reed may change now
Gamma rays you say
to shreds you say
This made me emotional reading it
What a saga
I love that this movie randomly decided to give Ben a beard for the last half of the film
Is Earth-828 truly a world with less of the problems our world has, or do some of us assume that just because it doesn’t show some of its problems?
All the different countries complied with each other pretty easily here
They probably don't show the problems
They just show the F4 parts they're involved in.
I doubt the Soviet Union and the second world don't exist in this universe, especially with Red Ghost.
Although the USSR still exists and Germany is still split
God forbid men celebrate a W 🙄
Men are stupid
A baby car seat is stronger than Galactus. I see this as their biggest stakes battle yet
Watched “Fantastic Four: First Steps.”
︀︀From the fashion, color palette, design, cityscape, TV and cartoon shows, to the costumes, spacesuits, rockets, cars—not to mention company names, food items (cereal, soda), and storage media (magnetic tapes, discs)—everything is crafted with a thorough commitment to a 1960s aesthetic blended with a sense of futurism.
︀︀It felt nostalgic, like watching “Bewitched” when I was a kid. Or at times, it felt like a live-action version of The Incredibles, with “family” as its central theme. Once I found out it was directed by the same person who did “WandaVision,” it all made sense.
︀︀Post-COVID hero films seem to be shifting away from the dark and gritty tone toward a more retro-futuristic, colorful, and nostalgic direction.
︀︀One thing the film does well is how it opens with a TV show that efficiently summarizes the Fantastic Four’s feats, role, and current standing.
︀︀If it had taken the time…
I think he liked fantastic 4
Doubt
So who are the guys from the Timely Comics cameo supposed to be?
Stan Lee and Jack Kirby
They’re the old guys who clap and say “no school like the old school”
Young versions of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby
Ohh I thought it might’ve been Jack and someone else. Wasn’t sure if it was too early for that pair
Johnny saving the world via Mental Abuse
So I think I already know how they will do the Doom RDJ stuff
They are gonna say (assuming they are going the Iron Man Tie in Route) that in the main MCU timeline the Starks were Latverian immigrants and changed their last name upon arriving in the US in the mid to late 1800s from Von Doom to Stark (because paraphrasing Doug Walker why the fuck would you trust someone named Von Doom?)
I’m hoping that they just make it so that Victor just has the same backstory he does in the comics and they don’t really go through what I call the Zack Snyder Route
In the name of science
I just now realized how funny it is that Every Country on Earth 828 joined the Future Foundation except for Latveria
Sue managed to convince North Korea, South Korea, The USSR, and pretty much every Soviet Bloc state to join the FF but couldn’t convince Doom to join.
Also convinced Maoist China, several African countries, and Indonesia to join.
So Doom is the 5th out of five dentists
And zendaya is michi
60ft tall Mr. Fantastic
What a Rita Farr ripoff
Honestly it’s just a miracle Dr. Doom’s mask isn’t nanotech
Yet
What’s wrong with nanotech?
Nano Tech is very easily CGI slop
It can be a good element in films when used correctly, but the MCU uses really frequentlly, especially so they only have to make minimal costumes
Lazy costume element
Like, Bloodsport is a really good use of Nanotech in a Superhero film because its really well thought out
what's funny is they do make the costumes now they just also make them nanotech
Ehh I thought it was pushing it with bloodsport
The thing with Bloodsport's Nanotech that I think makes it acceptable is that its not only used minimally but its very well thought out
Like, the Nanomachines don't just appear from a underpaid and overworked CGI artist like with Tony Stank
He builds the gun out of components of his suit
I thought it was more funny than anything else
I like to think it was a reference to how he pulls bazookas out of nowhere in the comics
Nanomachines, bruv
That's bullshit point because the two like explicitly times were introduced to a nanotech thing tony has. Its literally shown that its being held in something too appear.
There can be good nanotech, and there’s times where it makes sense for certain characters. But not everyone needs it
Civil war it appears from a glove that's small enough to justify it and infinity war and endgame he's literally walking around with a massive fucking brick on his chest to store the entire suit
I just don’t like when too many people have nanotech
Tony having nanotech made a lot of sense when he was fighting Thanos tbh
Like you can just say you don't like how the nano tech was used. You don't need to manufacture a issue based on it "appearing from nowhere"
Seemed like a natural evolution
When antman got it, I was getting fatigued. Which I know is ironic, for mr. Shrinks man
It was just that every other hero started to have it too afterwards
What do you have against people wearing creepy crawlies?
Tony Stank
You mean bugs?
Also like, the use on nano tech is realistically limited when you look back.
Its literally only tony and the iron spider suit.
The antman suits im pretty sure we're supposed to he the helmets shrinking. Its just a shitty affect. Same with the thor elements in love and thunder
Tony would have been absolutely shat on if he took on Thanos with his normal suit lmao
This more than anything
We had it so good
I disagree with a lot of the hate that Tony's relationship with Peter gets from people but I do think its funny that it took until the third movie for him to get a suit that didn't look like it was made by someone ashamed that they were making a comic book movie
Oh he took off his helmet. Now I can understand the plot
So true
I'm very stupid so I don't understand anything unless I can see the hero's face
the logistics of actors getting their masks on and off in superhero movies is my favorite bts detail
Bts…
But like fucking actual this shit annoys me because barely any characters actually had nanotechnology.
Tony.
Peter for like 2 and a quarter movies with a specific suit.
And vaguely the black panthers.
Like that's literally it. Everything else was just a bad affect for making helmets disappear
Potato potatoe
Call it what you want it’s the same typa effect
And that effect is annoying
Antman and Wasp also had it iirc.
It just so happens that they started spawning double speed after Infinity War
new captain america has it
I think that one is explicitly nanotech but I might be mistaken
That's vibranium. I don't think it counts
They don't. The suits are supposed to shrink and grow over them. Its again, just a bad execution of the affect and not them using nano tech
Just continue using practical helmets again please and thank you we are already taking such great strides but alas I already know Secret Wars will have twenty magic helmets
Jane had it in Love and Thunder
Please have Magneto’s helmet do that please Marvel please I beg of you
That wasnt fucking nanotech. Its just dogshit cgi
She had nanotech
It was magic nanomagic
The power of Odin’s fade
brendan you are unfortunately very real for that reaction
Its just fucking stupid to complain about when it affects like at most 4 characters. While the vast majority of costumes have still continued to be practical or none nano tech.
Like john and red guardian
Shuri, Thor, Other Thor, Captain America, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Ant-Man, Wasp but I’m sure it’s definitely not a problem
Whether we are calling it nanotech or not it’s still an overused annoying effect
okay since we wanna be specific, the issue is that it's a repetitive struggle to make modern costumes in the MCU feel unique when a large chunk of them suffer from a similar CG effects issue specifically when it comes to helmets/masks
the way they all appear around the character's head and aren't removable objects is distracting cause often the CG isn't up to par and makes it very obviously fake looking in some scenes
And sometimes they don't do that and when they don't it looks good we just all would prefer that'd be the case for all but a few characters. Thor had a normal helmet before but now it magic appears and vanishes, Cap had a normal helmet before but now it's tech, Ant-Man's helmet popped up but now it's super advanced tech that folds up. It's distracting for a lot of people and just cause you don't care doesn't mean it isn't cause "well it makes sense in universe"
Peter has a single fucking nano tech suit that is quite literally barely used. If you have to keep pointing at the iron spider then its legitimately not a issue.
And again, the affect on antman and the wasp is blatantly the suit shrinking and growing unto them. Its poorly executed. But its not the same affect that's been used on the thors helmet
💀
The Iron Spider suit is literally the suit that appears the most in those movies???
Barely showing up, it's been in five movies
you just have a higher tolerance for it, you don't have to take apart every complaint cause we aren't being as hyper specific about what's annoying about it
It was never worn in homecoming.
It was worn for most of infinity war.
Was barely seen in endgame since peter in it for like 2 minutes.
It was used in the opening of far from home and is not touched for the rest of the film.
And is used in a single scene in no way home.
Like that's not even remotely a case of it being his main suit or over used
ITS literally the same Suit as the Integrated One with a special thing over it bruh 😭
THE INTERGRATED SUIT IS THE BLACK SUIT
I genuinely forgot that Peter Quill had a Nanotech helmet
Patient Zero
It literally just has pieces of the iron spider that otto stole overlaid on small parts of it
i'm sorry that's just so pedantic
its almost as if CGI artists should unionize
I think that's another thing, we're all very clearly on the side of giving CG artists more time and input
True lmao
I think all of us agree that given more time and creative input all these suits would probably feel more distinct
breaking down the minutes of how long each suit appears on screen does not change that
I realized something while we were talking about this but they really cooked with these suits
Sorry for taking things off topic, but its so nice to have Superhero film that isn't concered with overdesiging the suits
I don't love them but I love the ideas behind them
Like the material and the turtleneck thing is great
I love the colors
Not only is it a good interpretation of their comic designs but they feel accurate to the time period the movie is taking place in
I just think the white parts are a little awkwardly shaped
Like if we got a accurate Live Action Watchmen
I don’t know if I want that 😭
The HBO series was lowkey smart for just choosing not to adapt the main book
And instead making a soft continuation
Not saying that it they should, just talking about how that takes place in a alternate 60s or whatever like this movie
Yeah but i also think you can say that vfx artists should be respected, be allowed to give input and time to work.
Without making a stupid argument on the dreaded nano tech. When its not actually used that much in the grand scheme of things.
But it’s so much more funny to rage bait
you could also not defend it cause who cares
And like even then. The "nano tech suits" are a symptom of the shitty industry. Not the cause
there is no need to stand up for an effect that's the cause of said shitty industry by trying to logic it out
it just makes it look like you don't wanna admit there's a problem and like I know you care about the artists too which makes it even more confusing as to why you need to go so hard against such a simple complaint
Especially when anyone can just you know, assume that when we say nanotech we mean the larger trend of bad cgi helmets that vanish and appear and not be like "erm actually that's not really nanotech" like you proved some sort of point
now that's a classic vocal stim
my god its spreading
Because its fucking stupid to complain about something that literally does not exist in this shit.
Rather than like, targeting the root of the issue. Like the lack of unions in the vfx industry and increasingly work loads with shorter production times.
Like theres bigger issues with this stuff than bitching over a nonsensical point that adds nothing too the discussion
then just say that
Hell Dalton brought up the CG artist unionizing not you
Like if you have a issue with bad cgi helmets. JUST FUCKING SAY YOU HAVE A ISSUE WITH BAD CGI HELMETS.
dont fucking attribute it to something completely unrelated, like the narrative existance of nano tech on like 4 characters
I also said this as a joke too lmao
Fox why are you getting emotional about something so trivial.
and if you have an issue with bad cgi helmets then just say that and don't turn it into some breakdown of how people are wrong cause they didn't word a complaint perfectly
Because its a stupid argument i see all the time and it pisses me off how it regularly misses the point on what's actually happening in both production and as a in universe thing.
at a certain point if an argument pops up over and over even if it's expressed poorly it usually is still at least evident of an issue
and there are way worse examples of people blaming the wrong thing on the internet
this is such a hyper specific thing to get pressed over
In comic book fans circles i largely have to disagree. These mother fuckers will literally complain about anything. Even without actually thanking it through
exactly there's millions of these stupid complaints
Idk why you are crashing out on us like we are those people then 😭
I won't pretend like we haven't had stupid takes here but this feels like you were really working to interpret us in bad faith
Sometimes more but alas
Definitely wasn’t that deep of a convo
It's not my fault that more people on here engage with me saying dumb shit like "Mr. Fantastic isn't emotional" instead of when I actually want to talk about something 😭
Y’all need to learn to laugh off some of these stupid stuff instead of getting emotional about it. It won’t get you anywhere being negative about it.
I mean, blaze has borderline said he was acting in bad faith. Which like fuck it its blaze.
But this is just a fucking broader reaction to the fact i keep seeing these arguments against "nano tech" and am actually just annoyed with it. Cause like you know, despite what common place online and here. I legitimately still like and care about the majority of the mcu. And it just fucking drives me crazy to see people attribute everything to a single issue that's barely a thing. Rather than talking broadly about the over reliance on fixing things in post a lot of shits developed.
Ayham don't make me bring up the tom king logs

I’m aware that I’ve also acted like this before, but I’m aware of my last mistakes that I try my best not to do them again.
Personally, I take Ayham's dislike of Tom King more seriously when things like "King was in the CIA during the War on Terror" are a part of that conversation
Instead of whatever the fuck the Nanotech argument was
you gotta let the small stuff breeze by you, the MCU has so many random sometimes valid sometimes stupid arguments that getting heated by something like this is not worth it
We all get hyper focused on little shit that's stupid. I don't see how me getting mad over this is like different from anything else.
Doesn't help that you were the only one to actually give a response
That's what I'm saying though you were getting straight up rage baited and like you can argue people didn't need to lean into it but it's how seriously you kept going that fueled that further
Everyone could've dropped it but you were the only one that seemed actually pressed and I don't want you to get that upset that easily cause it ain't worth it
I mean people laugh at the fact I hyper like obscure characters in comics like in DC with Egghead, President Marlo, and Killer Moth. But I always just laugh it off.
Also the argument started on dalton making a point about tony nano tech appearing out of nowhere. Which literally does not happen.
Which went into my further point that the actual use of nano tech is incredibly limited and doesn't actually appear that much. With some of the instances just being poorly executed affects.
Like fuck me i guess for getting rage baited
Yeah but like with that almost everybody at least in on the joke.
We're all star wars fans. We all have our own lists of obscure characters that live tent free in our heads. Nobody in the server actually has the grounds to make fun of you for liking lesser known characters
also I don't think killer moth is that obscure
what about paste-pot pete?
Not like 100% but I think he was in brave and the bold right?
Nah
He's a Marvel character lmao
I wouldn’t say so because he is known for his funny gimmick and he’s a prominent member of the Frightful Four.
Waiting desperately for the Mole Man gifs to drop from the film
Is he your new white man literally me character?
Yeah no shit. I was saying that about captain stingaree
yes I too yearn for the mines
I know who paste pot pete is
It's really funny how Ultimate Spider-Man just made Trapster look like Riddick
Cowards have always wanted to strip Pete out of his aura.
The only downside of introducing a perfect Mole Man in an alternative universe is it’s unlikely we will see him again
Also yeah I looked. Captain stingaree was in a single frame of brave and the bold.
Idk how i remember that
Bros didn’t even try
Vin Diesel may be a living meme but Pitch Black is a fun movie
It's like if you mashed the tones of Alien and Aliens and I really like that
Ultimate spider man like regularly went back and forth between have really good adaptations and abysmal dogshit.
Its honestly kinda funny how theres little in-between.
Ultimate Spider-Man was a funny show literally came out when TASM 2 released and changed their whole electro design with a whole canon reason
This was an insane Doc Ock design
I loved how Doc Ock was a demented little freak in that show
He was voiced by SpongeBob too
That is until they also replaced him
TOM KENNY MY BELOVED

I don’t remember liking the show but I’d genuinely be curious to watch it again
But that means I’d have to put up with Drake Bell
I did not care for it. But Bell is unfortunately great casting
I honestly kinda love the show danny rand.
I think they kinda perfectly changed his character to fit a teenager
I remember how the show changed Green Goblin’s mainline promo design for a solid second
Literally had a whole Disney Infinity figure with the Ultimate design 💀
it's such an ass design too
Like I wouldn't even mind a bulky goblin but it's such a generic suit on top of that
It’s a hybrid of regular and Ultimate Gobby
I know
The toy looks better than the cartoon model
ultimate gobby was at least like a full on demon
I think the main thing I liked about Ultimate Spider-Man was that Shield was in it
That’s surprising
That’s the thing I disliked the most lmao
I just wanted to see Peter doing his own thing
It felt so weird to me that in the MCU a American Government agency was somehow destroyed because people found out they did unethical things
They had AoS characters in it too
This show was so weird
So I liked it that Shield was actively in the show
And not just normal, boring ones like the FBI or CIA
Wow what a fun image from the show! Wonder who he’s saving
This looks like a comic con out of context
Having a crossover episode with Jesse was insane
who left drake bell alone with those kids
You’ve seen EMH right?
They do a great job with Shield there
I have, they are great in that
Nick Fury is a menace in a good way
His regular stand offs with Tony Stark were great
honestly i think my big thing is that in Ultimate Spider-Man they had a fuck ton of Helicarriers
Helicarriers are so cool, they should be in more fictional things
The real reason The Winter Soldier is peak
MORE
Kind of sucks that after Age of Ultron we just stopped seeing them again
(Yes I know AoS exists but alas Marvel doesn’t remember it exists)
It's kinda weird that Ultron never appeared again despite his tech surviving that movie
He appeared on a cruise ship video does that count
It’s really funny actually that Ms. Marvel’s first interactions with Captain America are on a random Marvel Cruise Ship experience
Wait a year
I know it’s not canon but yeah
Tbh I'm pretty sure they use the cruise ship to test character dynamics and what the general audiences would be fine with.
The Year of Ultron???
He'll be in vision quest with his wife next year 🙏
Need them to keep him around as well so we can get mpreg ultron for the runaways
Would Vision have killed Ultron in this scene if he had known he was pregnant?
Depends on if vision pro abortion i guess
The way he talks, I think he would be pro life
Idk I don't like the idea of vision being that cringe
Too bad
WandaVision if it was based
Yo. Fant4stic is 10 today.
#fantasticfour #thething #art
Well
I liked Galactus, I liked the Silver Surfer, I think she might've been my favorite part of the movie
This you?
if only
but yeah the parts with the messages from the other planets had me tearing up I won't lie
I think they did a really good job making the threat of galactus feel tangible
was it fantastic?
the movie overall?
eh
I did like how they wrote Reed
Pedro Pascal still kinda just felt like Pedro Pascal but the writing was solid
I'm glad they gave Johnny something to do, I think Sue was solid, Ben was just sorta there the whole time though
I think the movie needed to be longer tbh, it just felt rushed
The action was kinda...awful?
They didn't realize use their powers in any creative ways, everything felt kinda disconnected and made it hard to get a sense of scale or urgency
I genuinely don’t remember any of the actual action from the movie lmao
The movie didn’t really focus on the powers or fights though
The fact that Reed used his powers to only a) grab thing from across room and b) swing around like spider-man and almost nothing else the entire movie was just kinda lame
And the final sequence of Sue moving Galactus was so like weirdly shot, like they never really showed them in relation to each other it was just one close up of her and then a close up of him floating around. I feel like they had an opportunity to make some really solid wide shots to make it clear how impressive what she was doing was visually, but they didn't and it kinda took me out of what was otherwise a really cool moment
A lot of what you are saying with the action makes a lot of sense when you remember the guy who directed it was the guy who directed Wandavision which struggled with the same issues in the final episode
Fr
this does remind me that the only creative use of Reed's powers is when he kills a monkey
He’s really great at directing a normal talking scene (or apparently a whole ass space chase that goes hard for no reason) but the second action gets involved he doesn’t really know what to do
Which it's hard for me to excuse it tbh mainly cause both Incredibles movies did cool things with the same powers so they can't even say that it's like impossible
Like Elastigirl becomes a parachute, a boat, has that cool motorcycle that disconnects, surely they could've done something fun
This movie was far more interested in Reed’s intelligence than it was in his stretching
And I did like that
I just wish we had both
Like the scene of him talking to Franklin was great
I think it nailed the aspect that was missing from so many Reed characterizations, which was the self hatred. He's aware that he says the wrong things, that his mind can't just let sit down and enjoy anything, that he can kinda sound like an asshole as a result. And him actively wishing he was different ties well into how he wishes he could've stopped them from getting stuck with their powers.
It's like he passed on his curse of being abnormal to the rest of them.
So yeah I really liked that
The one thing that's really bugging me though is that they leaned in SO hard on the 60s era of "great men bring great change with science!" messaging and that's like lowkey dumb as shit. I'm just personally very passionate about how that mentality was used to create some of the dumbest inventions in existence in the name of "convenience" and "progress" while actual practical science was discarded for not being flashy enough (and because it usually came from non-white people and unconventional methods). That was why the future was predicted to be flying cars, smart homes, fancy little robots, cause it just looked cool and was proof that we could do it. But in reality, even if we achieved that, what purpose would it serve? Which hey, it's a comic book story so sure let's have some fantasy to it, I do like the aesthetic of it all. But it's the way that Sue somehow achieved world peace with it. It's the way that they have literal broadcasted speeches saying that "a few great citizens can truly change the world, and maybe always have" completely ignoring how all great achievements in history come from a collective, not a talented few. I didn't need the movie to be about that, but I also didn't need it to be about a very blatant falsehood that's often used by conservative weirdos to justify building shit like the cybertruck.
I wish reed used his powers in more every day situations. Like when he does stretch across the room, the movie kind of feels like you’re supposed to go “omg he’s doing it” and I just feel like he should do that more often than just walk around if that makes sense
He didn’t turn into a teapot like in Lego marvel so bad movie
Maybe I should have complained about Reed being used boringly in terms of everything except emotion and then people wouldn't have bullied me
That and Galactus didn't go "om nom nom" when eating that planet. 1/5 stars
I feel like I’d be kind of concerned to see what that CGI would have looked like
Knowing Marvel’s rushed VFX
I will say since I watched this movie "legally" I won't go hard on my stance that the CG in this was rough
I remember hearing that the test audiences thought Mr. Fantastic’s abilities were undercooked or that it was a little bit too offputting
Could be entirely possible that they cut some of his scenes using his powers
But at least from the recording Ben's effect never sat well with me, and that baby looked super fake
Apparently the baby was real
Yeah it looks like a real baby's head with like a CG body at times
Idk maybe it was just the recording but there was something really off looking about it
Maybe it's just a fugly baby idk
To add to the futurism thing. The thing that really took me out was when reed was trying to baby proof New York for Franklin and you see the flying police cars go by
Idk, something about that I didn’t care for. Everyone else has normal cars, the F4 have their cool transforming one cause superhero geniuses, but now the police also have them and no one else? Sure I can see it with reed trying to enforce them for the sake of safer city.. but the flying cars aren’t fun if everyone has them in the 60s setting
That's the other crazy thing, Reed can just solve crime in a night apparently
The space scenes looked so good
I don’t know what they did
But it looked insane
Idk it just felt like they took the fantasy of this retro world to an extreme, and I do get creating a movie that provides some sort of ideal to strive towards. I like that Sue's speech was all about how the whole world is one family, I think that's a strong sentiment to build a movie off of. But it makes it feel like the whole world is a nuclear family, one where the dad is the F4 and they get final say on things cause they know best.
So basically F4 is trash cause HERBIE isn't enough of a woke dog, he's just a regular dog and my gen z brain can't handle that
Oh no there were scenes where Franklin looked terrible in the theater
I have a feeling that the villian for the next F4 movie will probably be Annihilus assuming they aren’t saving him as the next big bad after secret wars
Either him or Molecule Man
I kinda wish Doom was actually in this?
He was easily the worst part of every previous modern F4 movie so his absence was a bit more refreshing
Idk I just feel like having a voice to constantly put the four down and highlight their mistakes might've helped ground things more and show that they aren't like these benevolent gods
I also wish they explored more of how quick to murder sue was with the surfer
Like her just going "johnny, kill her" like she was kingpin or some shit was kinda funny when they just brushed past it
I know she's in forced labor but like damn
In Fan4stic and the two movies that came before it he legit has nothing in common with his comic variant besides his name, look (kinda), and the fact he’s a bad guy.
I mean, Galactus accelerated her pregnancy so he could eat Franklin, I don't blame her for wanting Jonny to kill his (supposedly) loyal follower
I don't blame her either I just think it was funny in hindsight
True lmao
The MCU already has an up on the previous incarnations by having doom be the leader of Latveria
And not some rich dude who acts like Derek from Step Brothers mixed with green goblin or Whatever the fuck Fan4stic Doom was.
It does kinda make his absence more notable though when he's a world leader and has no comment on the end of the world the entire movie and isn't even mentioned once
I do think that is in character
It's just after seeing Lex be the ultimate hater I kinda wanted more of that here
Valid
I mean, this movie was never going to measure up to Superman in terms of quality so I honestly prefer that we got Galactus instead of Doom
It kinda sucks cause it really is just poor circumstances that their first movie couldn't be Doom and their second or third Galactus
Cause that feels like a much more natural progression but two failed doom attempts and a third being some big bad for an avengers movie doesn't make him a very viable option
Doom being a bigger threat down the line instead of in this movie is a understandable complaint
Especially if he's disconnected from them as a antagonist like how rumors have been claiming
The movie definitely lacked action sequences, but somehow I didn’t mind that. I was super invested in all the talking.
Same
I might agree but I reiterate that the incredibles had both good action and good dialogue/character moments
And tbh I've never even been a big "the incredibles is the best fantastic four movie" guy but if it was included before I'm gonna include it again, this movie doesn't even come close even if it is leagues ahead of the other live action films
I think I rate both this and Incredibles 9/10
Incredibles might have more rewatchability but I still admire what they were able to do with First Steps
that's kinda wild to me
this is like a 7/10 max for me
incredibles is like almost a perfect 10/10
Incredibles is legitimately one of the greatest movies ever made
The Incredibles had a better Mole Man
(I actually thought Mole Man was fine, I just wish he was dirtier)
legit though like I'm glad mole man had like plot relevance but I wish they had actually given him and reed scenes together beforehand
this is what I'm saying they should just have like fifteen to thirty minute shorts before these movies that are just the heroes facing a minor villain to establish their repertoire
optional to watch but a fun thing for the fans to get more of the characters
Despite loving both Fantastic Four and Incredibles as a kid for some reason I never clued in until I was older that the latter is just blatant parody of the other
Something I will say thinking about it is that all of the Parr family are really engaging while Mr. Fantastic is the weak link for me
But fortunately First Steps is mainly Sue's story so it doesn't weigh the movie down that much imo
Same but I feel that way more about Ben than Reed in this
Fair
I would be lying if I said I remembered anything about him that wasn't in the trailers
Or Johnny breaking character to actually compliment his beard
Ben felt like he had a lot in the script but then it all ended up on the cutting room floor. You can see resemblances of meat on the bone
We need to kill test audiences
Red Ghost…
I kind of liked that Ben was pretty content with his life and more there for people to confide in him
Pretty sure every Fantastic Four film has done the bit of him hating himself so it was nice that he got to do something else for a change
I don't disagree wiht that persay it's just the way that he just randomly flirts with that lady almost so they can say they tried to give him something to do that almost makes it more prominent that he has nothing going on
lmao
Yeah in this one he’s where Hulk is in Endgame
People talk so much shit about Hulk being “weaker now” when I find it more heartwarming that he’s now found peace and acceptance
It’s the best Pixar movie by far I watched it after First Steps and it still surprised me with how mature it was
Well then I hope you are ready for The Incredibles 3 releasing 2027!!!
I barely remember what happened in 2
I like it, it kinda opens similarly to Superman, these characters already have a history
Even in Superman tbh I wasn't that big a fan of this method
At least that movie made sure everyone except like Hawkgirl had something to do though
HawkGirl killed someone important though
She was moreso used to showcase not everyone has the same morals as Superman
She woman
TLDR. Kinda a similar story as the first movie but with the roles reversed as Helen is the Hero reliving the glory days and not Robert
I actually enjoyed 2 as much as the first one
Story isn’t as good as the first but it has a way better art direction in my opinion
I do feel like the artstyle kinda gets lost with the new heroes, since their designs stick out snd look a bit weird.
But also it kinda work as its clearly framing it as a new age of heroes. So they're aesthetically going to he different from what came before.
The art is the only thing I think beats out the old movie and that's mostly just the advantage of over a decade of advancements
The environments themselves look great
And the Elasticgirl Bike Chase is honestly so peak
soundtrack
Someone on Twitter RP ships Reed and Herbie 💀
Sure why not
I don't know about that solely cause my brain hasn't watched it enough to memorize every track like the original
Himbo Scientist x Loyal Robot Servant
Based honesty
He’s happily married
