Points for him actually getting ragebaited on set by Rachel Brosnahan
Its so funny that he told her to fuck off
I hope that takes included as a blooper or something
“KRYPTON HAD ITS CHANCE!!!”
They make it pretty clear that was his first real interview
Yeah but he had to yell THAT loud?
I’m not saying he shouldn’t have seemed upset. Just how loud he was didn’t scan.
It makes more sense when he’s looking for the dog
I get what he's saying, just on the whole this superman was very immature
And like fine that's where he's at right now, but without that context and explicitly being told that he's been around for a few years now it just is harder to internalize
I think the movie could've gone with an arc of him going from someone used to handling everything on his own to someone more accepting of people's help but they don't really show him struggling to accept help as much as just not willing to take criticism. And the only reason for that is because he's extremely steadfast in his beliefs that he is humanity's savior, that that's what his purpose is and he struggles to understand why anyone wouldn't trust that as much as he trusts it.
Honestly this movie is just about religion, it's a crisis of faith. Which is on par for Gunn's background, but it might be why I struggle to relate to it personally.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes was about religion too
The more I think about it the more that makes sense to me than this being an immigrant story. Replace Jor-El with the Christian God and imagine the first part of the message are the stories of creation, of his forgiveness, of the kingdom of heaven. Sounds good on paper, inspiring beliefs to live by. And if that's all you're raised on, you can't imagine why anyone would doubt the word of God. After all, he only seeks to save lost souls. But then the second half of the message is divine punishment Old Testament God. Messages of sending the wicked to hell and causing apocalyptic floods and plagues as a reprimand for humanity's sins. It's enough to make any devout believer enter a crisis of faith the first time they hear it. Surely this can't be the same God, can it? Of course by that logic Gunn is painting Christians as a persecuted group...so maybe it is supposed to be about Judaism? Same older stories, a mix of mercy and rage from above and a refusal to acknowledge those questionable story elements. But even then that's not why the Jewish people get persecuted, so honestly it doesn't fully work either way.
EEEEVOLUTION
I think Moses might’ve been one of the inspirations for Superman
And then for Man of Steel Snyder insisted he’s Jesus. (33 years old, etc)
Tbf Snyder wasn’t the first. Just the most in your face
Superman finding out does feel similar to this moment of Prince of Egypt, not in execution but more in the same concept of finding out the evil of your supposed heritage
All rights reserved to DreamWorks
Can someone draw Rocket hacking his parents message so the whole thing was a nasty prank by him?
Btw this might make me sound like an asshole, but did it feel like Gunn was playing with our preconceived notions by having the Kents sound so “country” moreso than any other portrayal but having them still be smart and empathetic?
They just seemed like boomers to me. I imagine they’re heavily based on his own parents
They are a huge part as to why the scene on the Kent farm is my favourite in the movie
David Corenswet really is a huge nerd and I wish I liked his performance more cause he seems like a real cool dude
Same
Which distracts me with how messy the movie is at times
I don't think the movie messy.
Just fast and chaotic
It kinda feels overwhelming at the start especially because you’re throw right into the action and it takes time to get into a groove
Anyone else feel like rick flag had no reason to be here?
My mom said the movie at the beginning had no story but the second half felt like it had more story.
They needed at least one Trump supporter on set to balance out the momentum
Oh yeah that's right that was him
Lex has the passion and energy of hatedom. This Eddie was a sad hater. Bitch baby
Also Lex doesn’t ask god, he just does
I was kinda happy to see him but he was just joe military guy here
Also I did not know this was a thing
Nvm
Now I do 💀
where was rick flag sr on jan 6th
same place peacemaker was

Do you think he makes shitty AI edits of himself as Superman on twitter
he gets the monkeys to do that
Those same monkeys probably spread the rumour that Superman is into scat when Peacemaker mentioned it
#supershit has a whole new meaning now
The monkeys said that Green Arrows dresses up at MLP conventions too
Nah that was me
Yeah pretty much
Just you guys wait
In no time at all, the DCU is gonna leave the MCU shaking in its shoes in fear if it isn't already.
I'm pretty sure they currently are actually working together loosely
Considering the casts of FF and Superman have been actively excited for each others movies I don't think they wanna lean into a rivalry
Honestly this has the same energy as people writing fan fiction about gunn and snyder hating each other.
Gunn and Kevin are friends. Theres no conflict between the two studios outside of friendly competition
These definitely exchange notes and know each other are copying their homework but they’re all huge nerds so it doesn’t matter
Just wait til the HelloGreeco Comics Cinematic Universe gets them quaking
Classic Lex
How tf did I miss the Peacemaker cameo the first time I watched the movie
Because you can’t see him
The HG marvel DnD already has Batman so it’s objectively better than the MCU
Batman being like, “He’s right behind me, isn’t he?”
Lex has been obsessing over Superman for years. I feel like that settles the debate.
Eddie probably would’ve gotten over it after a couple months if that goop hadn’t fallen on him
True
Minus the conquer part, Kal’s parents are understandable in their situation. Being the last of your species comes with some pressure
At the end of the day, Lex is just jealous of Supes’ hair
There’s still time to retcon Superman being the cause of his baldness
I love when X-Men: Apocalypse X-plained why Charles is bald
Do y'all prefer superman needing to breathe air or do you think kryptonians should just like photosynthesize or whatever?
Like in regards to space or being underwater?
both
I don’t mind both honestly
I prefer when he has to actually breathe air, and the prolonged time in space or underwater he’s holding his breath, but that’s not a make or break thing for me. I just think it’s more interesting that way
Kryptonians are super-powered beings who get their powers via photosynthesis but to stay alive at the very least in everyday life they need lungs and breath normally.
And here I was thinking they ran on Krypton Juice
I prefer him breathing air so he’s more human and not like some alien freak
Plants suck
He still has none-human powers in which that's where the photosynthesis parts comes in.
Plants are still lifeforms ya know.
I'm not asking if he should or shouldn't absorb sunlight, I'm just asking if that should make it so he doesn't need air
I prefer him needing to breath, creates more interesting fights imo
Are there any specific cases of him not breathing
This is never something I’ve actively thought about
Whenever he went underwater or in space without an issue
Maybe he holds his breath for way longer, like a whale
In STAS I believe he needs a space suit. Not sure if that carried over to JL/JLU
yeah sometimes he needs it
sometimes he just doesn't need to breath cause of the sun or whatever
I’ve always interpreted it as he uses both
He just happens to last longer than obviously the average human in spaces where there isn’t Oxygen
Him not needing to breath seems kinda sad. He would have no need to smell nice stuff
superman gains his strength from breathing in the harley quinn scratch and sniff fart comic
When the dentist says I was a good patient
I’m really hoping we get a Superman cameo in Peacemaker S2
That would be cool
God forbid a father wish his son get hella hoes and racks
Parents always want grandchildren
Is kinda wild that that's rocket raccoon telling supes to fuck
I’m thinking supergirl. Gunn said it might be less than a couple years we actually see him again and that one technically makes sense
I’m scared that Gunn is going to make Peacemaker season 2 really fundamental to the universe
In the sense that it would be a really strange choice for a starting universe
Creature Commandos was already a weird start for the universe
I don’t really need more cameos in Peacemaker. It should be able to stand more on its own.
I also don’t like Peacemaker so it’d give me an excuse to not keep watching it.
I was about to say the only thing that can ruin this universe is Gunn’s large desire to center on many obscure concepts and characters to start the universe
He has teased that season 2 will have some stuff about the bigger picture they are building up to
Looks like they did make some changes but they look pretty good
Honestly I'm happy.
I liked the skirt but tbe new one looks better
Logo better as well. Even if it looks like a bit slapped on
Looks brighter and cleaner if anything
Yeah but that applies to everything
The new belt definitely looks better with the suit
I hope they explain the outfit differences. Otherwise it’ll be a plot hole and I’ll make a 4-hour video about it
Gunn is #ReloadingTheGunn
I hope they don’t and everyone has to make 4 hour videos dismantling everything just for James Gunn to tweet “shut the fuck up it’s a belt it’s not that deep” and we all clap
I want Hal and John to call him a sellout bitch
Superman and Metamorpho being the wholesome ones warms my heart
Putinyahu 💔
Putinyahoo
just thinking about trying to write some poetic shit like "demons don't come from below, they come from the sky" and then you get outclassed by "BRAIN BEATS BRAWN!!!!"
The best line in BvS vs the least peak line from Superman
It's so funny how often DC projects go "how do we give our heroes conflicts? MAKE THEIR PARENTS EVIL!"
“Trust me bro I didn’t base it on this situation” preceeds to describe the exact situation that has been happening for a century.
It seems like I wasn't the only one who thought of this https://www.reddit.com/r/DCcomics/comments/1lwtegr/filmtv_the_actual_inspiration_behind_superman_2025/
no literally lol
this headline
I don't even know if I'd say it's new, it's just their masks are off
I think its really funny that Ultraman in this movie is just a dumb evil superman clone
And you can peice together that Lex called him that because he thinks Ultraman sounds cooler
The writing of earth has gotten too cartoonishly evil they're mirroring silver age caricatures
Tf you mean David Corenswet is the GRANDSON of the man who invented the Chose Your Own Adventure book concept
Wait tf you're not wrong https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Packard_(writer)
Edward Burtt Packard Jr. (born February 16, 1931) is an American author, creator of the Choose Your Own Adventure book concept and author of more than 50 books in the series. The genre that Packard invented, in which the reader chooses what happens, has come to be called "interactive fiction". Packard wrote many other children's books as well, a...
It’s crazy how we have like four onscreen Lois Lanes at this point who all fit the role perfectly
And then there’s Amy Adams
Is it in some actors contracts not the wear wigs? Idk why she had to stay a red head
She's good in a lot of other projects but I never got any chemistry between her and Cavill
little detail i liked when clark flew in this movie is that he’d go through like 7 different environments in one shot
really gave a good sense of just how fast he was going when he whizzes through a snowstorm and then clear sunny skies and then rain and more clouds all in like 3 seconds
Lots of fun visuals
Tbf, James, it’s the kind of plot twist you’d normally except to be a trick. It’s a very unexpected concept
they confirm it’s real in every way possible, luthor even says so in confidence 😭
yes
Like when you rewatch it you can tell
They explicitly state it’s legit like 5 times by 5 different characters
Also whatshername cracked it, and she’s obviously not the most reliable source
But Mr. Terrific confirmed its legitimacy

Unless they’ve all gone to the Ben Kenobi school of gaslighting I doubt the film would go out of their way to confirm it was legit for nothing
I’m sure it’s not impossible to trick Terrific with some super advanced tech from another world
Even if they did retcon it later on I feel like that would just make it even more sloppy considering a lot of Clark’s journey in this film is carried by that twist
Really walked into a corner with that one
It’s not a corner, it’s simply a new path
Dune Messiah looking Fire
pick your emotional support long brown hair greasy buff white boy with some moral ambiguity
morally ambiguous and its a guy whos more well adjusted than almost every other member of his family
(just got to the christmas flashback episode)
Sugar is the most "normal"
shes the only reason i said almost
cuz shes def more well adjusted than him
Yurtt
i'll get around to the bear and white lotus and severance and better call saul and succession and the boys and all those other white boy shows eventually I promise
When did you start 😭
My speciality
like a month ago lol
been watching with my partner
Real, Season 2 got a different pace than 1 but it’s quite peak
Whole show is peak
he’s a punk icon now
I'd be lying if I said I didn't think it all feels kinda forced
The new punk rock
like thematically it fits, it's not like it doesn't make sense
but it gives I love you 3000 vibes to me. Not as bad, but a similar level of like "go out and quote this guys and maybe buy merch with it later"
you know i'll give it to you, he's not exactly buff but damn if he ain't strong
Give him time
I 100% believe Jor-El’s message is real given everything said in the film and outside the film. But I don’t blame people for not feeling sure post-Rise of Skywalker
Superman saying that being kind is punk rock is the dorky kind of thing I would expect Gunnverse Superman to say
I forgot that I love you 3000 was even a thing
The MCU films up to that point were a total of 3000 minutes
I hate you 3000
I still fuckin hate this
Watching doomsday for everyone else and just imagine RDJ isn’t there
Just gonna pretend it’s Jeremy Irons instead
Those portals were definitely Boom Tubes yeah chat?
I guess they could be similar tech
I feel like Gunn would want to be more unique this close to the Snyder era
Id say it probably won't be boom tube tech yet.
But also mister miracle show is happening and barda obviously gonna have the mega-rod for boom tube travel
Ye true
This was my argument lol
But it could just be something similar to get the general audience used to the idea
Boom tubes aren't pocket dimensions right, aren't they just teleporters?
Honestly I have no clue what they are in canon
I've always just thought of them like what Omega Beams are to laser eyes they are to the power of teleporting, it's like a vague upgrade
I think you can argue its a archaic version of a boom tube. With lex not being able to replicate the tech.
To instead of creating a wormhole between two points its to a pocket dimension
Maybe he saw it once in some government files and that's his attempt at recreating it
I know Lex having his like, army of evil nerds was a lowkey dig at Elon but I think it fits Luthor perfectly
Honestly though if they don't cook with the boom tube design and audio we should kill gunn
True
We’d have to enforce anti-Gunn laws
If the boom tube doesn’t cause the whole theater to shake they fucked up
I want my ears to bleed hearing one
We've had #GunnControl now we're ready for #ShakAttack
"I'm scared because...I'm part of his secret harem."
I think in this universe, Lex is bald because Superman makes him so angry he tore all his hair out
Still thinking about this movie. I need to rewatch it
Same
First impressions are overall really good
I admit, I’m very out of touch with Superman lore , so I had zero clue a lot of the characters were and that fucking place Lex Luther was trying to take over made zero sense to me
Is cool as fuck seeing Supergirl at the end
I wasn’t expecting the movie to be so quirky, but it’s great because of it
Anime Superman
I think it’s kind of crazy that while Superman wasn’t the highest grossing movie of the year on its premier, it’s so far managed to break records for the following days after. Which is probably more it being summer in comparison to when Minecraft came out. But in two weeks it’s on track to be the highest grossing superhero movie of the year (which is also a low bar but still pretty good)
I can see it being similar to ww and aquaman where it builds up more as time goes on just from word of mouth
Especially since it's opening is stronger than both of those movies
Yeah. I’m curious what will happen with fantastic four both how F4 performs and how it will affect Superman
Saw a friend say it was a convoluted mess because it didn’t explain the supporting heroes enough and what they’re all about and it drops you into the middle of what’s happening
I think he would hate comics
My mom understood it better than most MCU movies wdym 💔
Funny enough he said The Avengers worked because it had five films setting up the characters first lmao
As if Guardians of the Galaxy didn’t exist
CinemaSins ah comment
It’s probably been almost a decade since I last watched CinemaSins in earnest
i'm a broken record but it's not even cinemasins it's just ragebait anti woke youtubers that are saying shit like that
I think one of his comments was the film expects you to know who the “tons of new characters are” already, but I don’t really think the film expects that
Even though I’ve seen these characters before, I think it still works the way it introduces each person
He also thought the Supergirl scene should’ve been a mid-credit scene, and I just can’t agree with that. Movies need to stop having important setup during and after the credits
God imagine how different the world would be if Nick Fury had shown up in Tony Stark’s place before the credits. I want that timeline. The Incredible Hulk tried that method but it didn’t stick.
This movie is a litmus test of sorts for me bc of how many dumb ass criticisms I saw that held no weight at all
Like the sunlight healing thing was the most mind numbing discourse I've ever seen
People talk about how "weak" or "strong" Superman is, and like...I was not analyzing any of \that at all during the movie.
That shit pisses me offfff bro
As long as he has powers but is still facing struggles that have weight, I don't care about the weak or strong thing
Like why do we have to fuckin powerscale everything all the time
It kinda makes me think of the Rey criticisms where people said she faced no struggles at all. They're on different parts of the same annoying spectrum
I see it
It definitely wasn’t a priority for Gunn making this film
Mister Terrific does steal some of his thunder though
I like the analogy I saw someone post of how watching this movie was like going to a comic shop and picking up a miniseries where you're dropped in the middle of an already established world
That’s basically it
I love it so much
The thing about the supergirl scene is that it’s not about setting up her movie, it’s about closing out the story with Superman and Krypto. It’s not in the credits because it’s important to that story
Literally. It’s that or like it’s the next episode of Superman the animated series or something
Its also about the importance of what Clark with risking in trying to save Krypto. It wasnt his dog, he was trusted to look after him and failed.
He needed to get him back for himself and kara.
Exactly
Yeah if it was his own dog he wouldn’t care as much, so it plays off more like “Oh shit I better get the dog back so my cousin doesn’t get mad” lol
"Oh shit I better get the dog back so my cousin doesn't level the LuthorCorp building"
i think it would have been so funny if ultraman was henry cavill
Mainly because it would be another molitov to Snyderbro's conspiracy theories about Gunn
It would've been a cute little nod
Love that the official toy line for this movie has a Lex in a Powersuit figure that’s not actually in the film
It seems especially on point too
Wonder if it was ever concept art for the film
I’m really tempted to order the art book
Gunn i think largely said the powersuit was never intended for the film. But is something for the future
But also i think its literally just toylines refusing to make hawkgirl
I thought the spinmaster ones had Hawkgirl
I think they just made the soldier suits a toy and put lex in it so it was more exciting then him in a business suit
Nah I would’ve hated that. Potentially the final Cavill appearance in DC films and it’s as that character? Nah
More dignified ending for his character than being forced to be in Black Adam or slightly offscreen in every project since Josstice League
Jesus these two really are feeding into it
His last appearance was as a CGI still in The Flash movie
Superman hit $400 million
Oh did Lois change her name?
It does. 12 inch and 6
finally Lois cuck rep, what we've been waiting for
she is famously always getting cucked by superman
Holy shit finally someone who represents me on screen
damn i didnt know the cuck lois lore went this deep
It's either that or "uh oh, Lois get powers to be with superman and now clark feels like a cuck!"
It serves you right Lois!
Batman: The Brave and the Bold
that last one is just femdom what am i looking at 😭
peak cinema
average clark and lois activities
I noticed this one says “the new imaginary story”, but a later one says “the real NOT imaginary story” implying it’s a true story
The original "NOT CLICKBAIT!!!!"
Ok. Jimmy Olsen show, but it’s in the style of the Office where they are filming a documentary in the daily planet, and we constantly see Clark trying to sneak away to do Superman stuff and they try to follow only to see him disappear or someone like Lois get in the way. Meanwhile we see Jimmy doing stupid stuff around the office and the camera crew is trying to keep up with stuff and it’s all treated fairly normal until he turns into a turtle
Agreed
Peak
This kind of feels like Powerless with different characters
Mans loves DC
Fuckin hated Tudyk’s character in that though
His character in the original pilot was the son of a CEO, and then on the actual show they made him Bruce Wayne’s annoying cousin Van Wayne
Show was also Adam West’s last acting credit I think
In live action at least
I feel like a lot of stuff was changed for the worst
Ok so DC is developing a crime anthology series for Jimmy Olsen
My pitch for a Jimmy Olsen show is he teams up with another different looking version of himself from another universe and it’s called The Olsen Twins
Compelling
Glad you all agree
Just saw someone say they weren’t crazy about Superman and thought it was pretty campy
Of course it is
This is the best edit I’ve seen for the movie
Iron Giant makes everything better
That’s a movie I desperately need to rewatch
The peak Superman movie. No debate
Absolutely
The Iron Giant trilogy:
The Iron Giant
Ready Player One
Space Jam: A New Legacy
That’s a horrible trilogy
The Iron Giant trilogy is
The Iron Giant
The Incredibles
Superman
The Notorious PIG
the iron giant trilogy is the iron giant three times in a row
If you look closely when watching Space Jam 2 you can see Don Cheadle wanting to die
And you can see me wanting to die watching it
My hot take is Space Jam 2 is exactly the same concept as Space Jam 1 but modernized. Ads and all. So if people think the second one sucks they should think the first one sucks too. 🗣️
The original Space Jam always sucked
Looney Tunes Back in Action is the superior movie
Is that the one with fucking Brendan Fraser and Steve Martin
Doesn't help that Michael Jordan cannot fucking act
Can’t play baseball either
Or golf
Can’t even whistle
Dude fell into a fuckin golf hole
Yeah and Timothy Dalton is his dad and basically plays James Bond again
That movie was a fever dream
All I remember is like bits and moments but I distinctly remember Daffy Duck stealing the Batmobile
Coyote vs Acme gonna revitalize the cinematic universe
I forgot about that, that's still coming out right? I remember seeing some article that they decided to release it
Yeah Ketchup Entertainment (the heroes who distributed The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie and Hellboy: The Crooked Man) are releasing it
What the heck is this from? Do you know?
It's a scene from the Looney Tunes Back in Action movie
Cinema
same.. but it doesnt help that i just keep listening to the soundtrack
same lmfaooo
This
I wish I could listen to the soundtrack but I don’t have a cassette player. 😔
“He likes the brainrot, he finds it soothing”
Me at 4AM
Lol
Luthormaxxing
"How can someone not think its real"
Well, because it kinda destroys Jor-El purpose as the spiritual guide of Kal-el/Superman.
Like yes, the Kents gave him his moral compass, but Jor-El showed him the secrets of his powers and herritage.
Idk, it was one of the few things I didn't liked about the movie.
I can't tell they tried to mock the whole "Evil Superman" concept stuff of recent years or just wanted a plot twist but meh.
Honestly, I think its just part of modern DC's trend of looking at their heroes and deciding to write stories that challenge their moral principals
Like the Waynes being evil
Why does Batman fight crime if the people who inspired him to become Batman were criminals themselves?
Same with the Els being just as corrupt as the rest of Krypton
Why does Superman protect humanity if the Els only wanted him to do that so he could have a secret Harem?
I also think that its a nice response to alot of recent superman adaptations (man of steel and to a degree my adventures even though i love that show) has clark being VERY motivated by his parents, especially his father. In man of steel his reason for being a good guy is basically "cause my space dad told me too" and this feels like kinda a response to that. I also think that its a nice sentiment and plays into the CHOOSING to do good. Good doesnt only have to come from good, it can come because you CHOOSE to be good
That's why I always sing praise for My Adventures with Superman. Clark doesn't directly communicate with Jor-El for pretty much the entirety of his life, choosing to save people as Superman on his own. The Els are still good people, Krypton is also written as being actually awful, and it still preserves Clark's innate desire to do good.
I feel like he keeps addressing the real vs not real thing from the perspective of Lex faking it, when really we all are wondering if it’s fake because someone like brainiac tampered with it while he was a baby
My money was on Engineer. She had her nano hands all over that
how would she edit a language she can't read?
Comic book magic
I don’t really care if it’s real or fake, but I’d rather they just keep it as real because the story around it was good and back tracking it later it revisiting it will just kind of take away from it
Real AI can do wild shit. Comic book is even scarier
The monkey stuff is crazy, but going to the church and asking the Lord to kill the person you dislike while crying is another level of Hater.
Both are on the same level tbh
I think Braniac could still be a slim possibility but I’m fine if they keep it the way it is
Exactly
I think if they were to have brainiac be in on the cause, it would be more that he manipulated his parents or something
What
Luthor just has the money to hate
Eddie Brock is broke as fuck, he works at a failing newspaper
I assume the blue is a reference to beast but I don't get the other one
I think it's a Megamind reference
OHHHHH

Kind of surprised they weren’t childhood friends cause I thought they would go down that route
I guess technically they still could?
That would be very strange
Smallville moment
Good Lex Good Sex
Eddie has passion.
While Luthor has the resources.
No way there's a city named "Queer paradise".
Lex likes his bald head kissed goodnight
both of them
No problem
*got fired from a failing newspaper actually
"I don't like or trust Superman because my father beat me-"
"I FUCKING HATE SUPERMAN! I HATE HIM! I CAN'T FUCKING STAND HIM! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHH!"
I feel like it's the same tbh, this Lex clearly went through something to make him this way
I really want them to explore more into why this version of Lex hates Superman bc you do not get to THAT level of hatred without something wild happening
Lex's dad beating him is a canon event
Has anyone ever considered maybe he had an ass whooping coming?
“Good gosh” “What the hay”
been thinking about him saying what the hay for like a week straight
I stand by my statement on Letterbox that Superman listens to ID
What the hay dude
Imagine Dragons?
DCEU Luthor was basically a diet Joker
With a shit haircut
Who the fuck keeps on messaging in here
That's all that's not even bad
The thread bugged and keeps saying there's a new message cause that got deleted
Normally it'll fix itself soon
Or just like reload the thread. Either by leaving or marking a few messages as unread
I thought they meant Nicholas Hoult and then deleted when I realized they meant Jesse Zuckerberg
Wow it’s Korg
ZATARA MY GOAT
Is that just Maxwell lord on the far right?
I could easily see him doing that shit lmao considering he owns the place
Oh yeah that’s definitely him
I see the logo in the back
Catman DCU confirmed
We got some real dc glup shittos here folks
Bwana beast, bullet man and bullet girl, liberty belle, zatara, wildcat, vibe, sandman
Is zatara really a shitto. I figured hed be less a shitto with his accusation with zatana
Depends not everyone really knows much zatanna lore
Him and wildcat are definitely more well known
You know it'd be nice if they brought back pierce brosnan as fate, he did a good job with it
Most people don’t know Zatanna lore lol
Is it bad I recognize most of these
It’s more so on brand
I just realized most of my Batman villains costume preferences were formed by Lego Batman
I’m curious cause Gunn did say Dr Fate was in it, and at the time he was speculated to be where Lord is now, so I’m wondering if he was just misremembering or if Fate is supposed to be there
I feel like Lord would totally paint over Fate
Looking back its maxwell. The low quality of it makes him look like fate
Just to put his own image there
Yeah. I had a feeling before it wasn’t fate, but when Gunn said he was there I just accepted that was him until seeing the full art
Rizzle me this Gyattman
Oh?
The riddler gets pegged
Diddle me this, Batman
Pegman
I saw someone point out that Max Mercury is there twice from his two different versions

Why did they cut blue man from the film
Racism
Why they in the void
Something something time of your life
Just got in my car after fantastic four and this was the next song it played
Want to know about the guy in the Horse.
I thought it was literally Zorro

So did Metamorpho give birth to his kid?
Yes
He gave birth in the Prison Universe
Is that actually true? I don’t remember
Doesn’t mean she was the birther necessarily

When people ask me my favorite character from #Superman it just might be Mr. Handsome. Lex created Mr. Handsome in a Petri dish when he was 12 - he was trying to make a human. He didn’t come out so well, but he just might be the only one in the world Lex has any true sentiment for, as evidenced by the photo on his desk. Our Mr. Handsome was po...

Acktually, his name is Ultraman 🤓
So you weren’t paying attention to this movie either
That dude’s gotta be so busy rn

The clone was named Ultraman
Yes. That’s why I said clone
Which is really funny, because you know Lex only did it because he thinks it's a better name

Jimmy Olsen:
Diabolical tweet
“PEOPLE WERE GOING TO DIE!”
Its still funny to be how some of the merch for the film has the empathise "DC'S ultraman" on the box because of the actually ultraman trademarks
He divorced Pam from the Office
Wow and Amy Adams played Lois Lane
Played is a strong word
holy shit a completely random unrelated person that's wild
Amy Adams was in a couple episodes of The Office where the characters described her as a hotter Pam
I'd be embarrassed that you were making a real reference but I'm proud of not knowing office lore
Get good. Know your Office lore.
It is cringe though when people quote The Office on dating apps
You’re very special, Circle
I didn't find Amy Adams believable as Lois Lane. I couldn't see her version of the character getting Henry Cavill pregnant
No no it was Snyder’s plan to have her get BATMAN pregnant
And everyone knows it’s supposed to be Superman that gets Batman pregnant
Because Bruce insists he can take it
Also if this universe’s Jor-El is that bad then I fear what this universe’s Zod is like

I saw this, made me wanna punch Shapiro in the face more than normal
"Truth, Justice, and Private Property" - Superman apparently at some point in time
Its funny how wrong the suit looks without trunks
Like this is actually a bad design without them. Which is insane with how much gunn talked about not being sure about them or if it would work
Why would they do a yellow and not a red belt
That’s the only way to make it work without the trunks
Even then I still think the lack of trunks leaves too much empty space on the suit
Making the belt red would help. But I still wouldn't make it good
Oh for sure it’s very awkward looking why is there so much space
Makes you realize how little red he has on his actual body without it
Do you think there's mpreg kryptonite
undoubtedly
Super Pink Kryptonite
I do lowkey wanna see this movie again
I wasn't even like insanely into it at first but it's like growing on me after the fact
Heheheh
I’ve thought about going and seeing it a 3rd time but just gonna wait for it to come to streaming or something

Perfect
This makes me think of Pretender Transformers
David Corenswet and James Gunn having a debate over the ‘SUPERMAN’ monologue on set.
People acting like they had some huge fight
See I love seeing them getting passionate about it
Yeah
I can’t wait to see all the behind the scenes stuff
Also might watch with the director commentary as well
They’re both respectful enough to challenge each other
I love how much david gets the character.
The movie honestly probably wouldn't have been as good as it is without him and gunn regularly having a back and forth one the character
Honestly terrible movie tbh
Superman Returns made me cry nine times
When Superman did the thing and then that thing happened
With the thing
What even happened in Superman Returns
real estate
catching plane
james marsden is cucked again
a kid throws a piano
superman gets shot in the eye
Lex Luthor was played by someone worse than Lex Luthor
This also applies to comic book fans broadly
It’s all dogs
Guy Gardner with normal hair doesn’t exist! It can’t hurt you!
Guy Gardner with normal hair:
Holy fuck, Corenswet voiced the Hammer of Boravia
Why is Hawkgirl soyjaking
Who wouldn't be soyjacking if they were standing next to Mr Terrific
Lex Luthor
Soyjaking Hawkgirl vs. the chad Mr. Terrific
Sex Luthor
If you guys were to replace "Luthor" with "Loser" in the scene where Superman confronts Lex, it would still be somewhat in character for the former.
"The Dog, Loser, you took the Dog"
I love that that is their first real interaction

Also this makes sense cause wasn’t the Hammer of Boravia just Ultraman in disguise?
I only watched the movie once so maybe I am misremembering something
Yeah it was
rewatching now
I do really wish the intro wasn't so expository, like he could've just muttered the message translation to himself without the robots narrating and then the sunlight could've been shown to heal him without explaining it
I guess I'm just mad that casual audiences are stupid
That would make sense
Clark generally rarely ever knows krypotonian and when he does its normally not a full comprehension of it.
Which can generally be a point of getting shit from kara for being ass at speaking and understanding the language
Clark was muttering the translation alongside them
So he knew what the message said, and like either way it can be implied he had that translated even if he isn't fluent
I'm just nitpicking end of the day
I'd reason there he's probably memorised it after listening to it so often. And doesn't really get the language.
Yeah he just memorized what they translated it to
that’s every day
anyways now I can go back to watching I got sidetracked by a phone call for like 40 minutes
fun detail I saw about, the background art is of birds morphing to a pattern of planes
because "it's a bird, it's a plane" which is cute
another small thing, I do prefer when it's LexCorp not LuthorCorp solely because I think Lex changing the company to be named after himself is funny and on brand
Same
My fan brained theory is I think Lex hired someone to shuttle him away at the end of the movie and make it look like they were putting him into a cop car
I think it might change to LexCorp later
Plus I think it makes sense with all the connections and shit he's very clearly shown to have in this movie
again though a whole scene of Lex monologuing to himself about why he hates superman before the engineer is like "yes I know Lex, and here's my reasoning behind my actions as well so that we all know what our beliefs are as the bad guys"
Yeah the expository stuff is definitely what brings it down a little for me but it's almost worth it bc of how fuckin bangin the action is most of the time
I do think I've come around a lot on how much Superman is kinda taking a beating in this, I feel like it maybe is important to show that good is genuinely under threat right now and not invulnerable, but that he never stops regardless
I find the criticism that Superman is getting beat up too much really fucking annoying for how many people whine about how boring he is for just winning all the time
I feel like a good Superman story has him getting his ass beat just a tad
I think what works so well for me here is that it is actually because lex is outsmarting him
It'd be annoying if it was just some asshole whose as strong as him beating him in some big empty fight
I feel like its better than the mindless action the last few superman movies have given us.
I'd rather him struggle every day. But continue anyway. Than breeze through everything
also just noticed this is Max Lord's building right?
I love the bit where he's running away like a little bitch once he knows he's caught bc it's like the first time he's fully vulnerable, he's in Superman's presence for some scenes but he has the upper hand in those usually bc he's already turned the public against him and before that he had at least something to use against him
It's just so fucking funny
Also i still wish the movie kept the day title cards. I think it would have helped the message of superman getting up and doing good everyday. Despite all the odds being against him
I love the dynamic and I really miss when superhero stories were personal
I hope they fucking fight for those to be in future movies
I want it to just be a DCU thing
It's so charming I love it
Honestly, I know "release the x cut" is annoying and overdone.
But I legitimately wouldn't mind seeing a directors cut of superman that includes the cool shit that got cut because of test audiences
Same
?
Movie was supposed to take place over a week, with title cards announcing the start of each day
You can still clearly see where they would have been in the film
Proof on concept people made
No but its about the week in the life of superman
yeah I wouldn't really see the benefit like we know time is passing considering we see you know...nighttime
Idk I just think its cool. And would follow on from gunn creative vision in the suicide squad. (The title cards were like a highlight of the film)
It doesn’t really scream as this is your average week for Superman. Maybe everything before he gets thrown in a box
A montage works because it shows you everything, and then you’re like “and that was just an average week. Wait’ll you see this”
Like its one of those things where being removed doesn't actively change or hurt the movie. But keeping it doesn't really hurt it either
It was neat in that movie
I still think that movie is his best work because you can tell the studio basically said “have at it”
I think doing it more than once makes it less special
And I still think that movie is far better than this anyways
The irony of his most underrated superhero movie also being his best
It's also weird I think I liked Corenswet and Brosnahan's chemistry more in interviews than in this movie
Now that’s a hot take
One of my favorite scenes from this movie was definitely the ten minute interview/dinner scene
I still don't really like that scene if not mainly cause there wasn't a resolution to it on his end
I actually love the pacing there. Cause it didn't feel like 10 minutes. The flow was so good
Like I think Lois by the end of the movie understands that Superman's naivety is a strength in many ways, but I think by the end Clark is still extremely impulsive and prone to outbursts of frustration when confronted with any disagreements from people
Completely off topic but it’s goated how much sauce this movie has
The fact that a quarter of Peacemaker and Rick Flag’s fight is filmed using the reflection on Peacemaker’s helmet is so sick
do you think they would've just called them the justice society if black adam didn't just use that group's name
I'm a diehard Snyder Zodd defender but that's only because I'm weird
Also I'm at work so I can't get into it
I’m assuming they were the Justice Society before Maxwell Gunn took over
Who is Zodd
Wait I know who that is
Tbh I kinda assumed they'd end up being folded into being the terrifics
Dude from The Flash
Superman robots
Army of Monkeys
This movie is so fucking stupid
I love it
The fact that we are going to have a Batman that takes itself ultra seriously in the same universe is funny
I can't believe it's a real ad
I still hope like, somebody smacks gunn on the head and connects the braincells that gives us like,a comic accurate batman to how he's been for the last decade. And not more nolan shit
At least his next movie basically confirmed to be a superman and supergirl team up (peak)
tbh I've given up hope on getting an actually accurate live action batman
When is Gunn going to have Oliver Queen and Dinah Drake on screen, that’s the real question.
We are long overdue for a great on screen Green Arrow
A green arrow and black canary movie would save me
also be based and cast a trans woman as dinah
Oliver is practically a character that’s perfectly suited for today’s conflicts and shit
not that there needs to be a reason, but like any particular reason for dinah?
Well she was trans in bombshells
And i feel like theres a elements of it that could work with like her voice and mother
you know that makes sense
between the wig, the punk elements, the legacy of her identity, there's a lot of that can be a lot deeper with that identity added on
Like i think you can apply the sentiment and direction bombshells took with her character pretty well too a main adaptation of the character.
Like "finding her voice" applying too both her identity and powers.
Dinah being trans is like, a legitimately natural and great take on her character. And its kinda insane its not really been done outside of bombshells
You know i believe they were gonna make conner trans at some point. But the story got cancelled
kent?
Yeah
or hawke?
Broadly i think the suit fine without the specific colour placement
the black in the middle with the yellow stripes breaking it up is what's hurting it for me
the original red pants blue top combo works a lot better
It was just like, a original pitch. So i assume the design would have been changed a bit if it was moved forward
But yeah, dinah.
Actually a shame dc are cowards
Cause her being trans would legitimately be like, a really good elements of her character
Maybe they can do it in the absolute universe
You know it's funny how they never actually say "being kind is punk rock" in the movie
This is what I remind myself every time a character in this movie gives a speech detailing their exact motivations and character traits
it happens like four times
I do the Jim Carrey Grinch thing “it’s for the kids it’s for the kids” but replace the word “kids” with “media illiterate idiots”
honestly my thoughts on the movie haven't changed
I do like the parts I liked a bit more but the parts I don't like are still bothersome
I also feel like the prison break sequence goes on a little too long
I need to watch it again to really firmly understand how I feel but it’s somewhere between a 7.5/10 or an 8/10 for me
yeah same
I enjoyed how shlocky it can feel at times
8/10 for me, it does a lot of stuff that shouldn't work really well
I’ll probably end up really liking All-Star Superman more because it’s the comic this movie is based on
we can talk about in the thread later but my hot take on that is I really don't like the art
superman's lips and tiny face weird me out
Well kinda
It’s more inspired by
Similar tone but the overall story is very different
Superman at the start and Superman at the end
Tonally similar is what I’m wanting
I mew, I rizz, I wake up every morning and despite not knowing what to goon to I stroke in one motion after another and edge the best I can. That's what makes me sigma
Thank you masterbuilt
I really dig the Trenchcoat
Lex is obviously the better villain but I do like how Zodd is a embodiment of Krypton's failures as a society in Man of Steel
Jor-El at least knew the shortcomings of their culture and was actively working against it even if it was too late, while Zodd just continues on everything wrong with it despite claiming to be better than those who came before him
why you always adding an extra d
Mixed up my Zods apparently
Anyways
I dunno what point I was making, I just sometimes think that the Snyderverse does get some bad faith takes made against it even though half the good DC stuff we have these days wouldn't exist without it
Like we wouldn't have the good Evil Krypton stuff without the funny meme man
I mean he didn't invent that
I doubt he did but it did popularize it
To an extent sure but also I'd argue it was the worst part about this movie
Fair
At the end of the day, part of why Man of Steel is bad is because its trying to fit Superman into the Nolanverse formula and it doesn't really work
Despite liking some of the stuff from of it I do have the self awareness to know that its mainly a me thing
it's just too jesus focused for me
Oh that lmao
I don't really see that in the movie aside from the surface level stuff that Snyder puts in all of his films
that's the issue
like the bane of christian iconography is it gets thrown into everything with zero thought behind it aside from "look how cool this is"
I’m Muslim and I don’t think religious iconography for Superman is needed like this 💔
oh good I still have this from when I watched the snyder cut
thank god that joker thing wasn't actually in the movie
that's what makes it even more funny
knightfall was legitimately the worst aspect of the snyderverse, and not even liking how batman shooting a gun triggered nerds can redeem it
bro was like getting itchy, he went too long without doing something christ related and asked leto to pose for a couple unrelated photos
I’m surprised I’ve never heard any “What the dog doin?” Jokes with this movie
It definitely does get unfairly shit on occasionally but I think that's bc of the fundamental misunderstanding Snyder has with the source material, even if some things were great the fact that he was trying to fit it into that Nolan-verse vibe like you said just sours the entire adaptation for a lot of people

Someone asked me how Clark couldn’t see his own face under ultraman’s mask
Honestly i feel it’s a pretty simple answer that being Ultraman’s Mask is Leadlined so Clark can’t see through it
Nah. It’s a plot hole. So the movie sucks. We should hate on it. Make change dot org petitions to decanonize it.
Ye this was my thought seeing those complaints too lol
Half of the things people complain about with this movie you can figure out a perfectly reasonable explanation if you think about it for more than 5 minutes
It’s interesting hearing HG explain why Superman didn’t completely land for him
He wanted the new DC universe to start with a Superman movie where it’s just Superman and no other heroes. And we’ve had such films with Reeve and later Routh that were in a vacuum, and then Man of Steel where it started a universe but was still just a Superman story, though of course the tone wasn’t to everyone’s liking
And while BvS was an attempt at rushing the worldbuilding, I don’t see Superman (2025) as being like that. Somehow, I feel like it would’ve been a step back if the DCU started with a movie where the only hero is Superman. Maybe because we already got so much of that.
And it still feels like a Superman story, just with some guest stars. He certainly has more meaningful focus than in BvS.
So to HG, I guess Superman is mainly the Christopher Reeve films, and maybe a few of the live-action shows would be to his liking. But a lot of other Superman content has other heroes, and while HG says he’s not really a DC fan so much as a Superman fan, Superman to me can work really well both on his own and with the wider DC universe.
I get that, and to some extent I do think it would’ve been cool, but having the others worked well. They were a part of the story enough to be like “yeah other superheroes exist, and they look up to Superman” which supports the message of the movie being how Superman inspires others
It doesn’t just feel like they are there because DC universe we need characters to crossover and show up to catch up to marvel, like Wonder Woman appearing in flash to be like “yeah zionist Wonder Woman still exists guys don’t worry”
Even Shazam’s headless Superman cameo at least meant something to the story about Billy’s relationship with Freddy
Yeah. And he wasn’t into some of the extra stuff like the Interdimensional travel. But it made the film feel more new since it hadn’t really been showcased in other live-action Superman movies.
It does track, though, that he’s not as into comic book stuff and prefers the Reeve films when you remember that A New Hope is his favorite Star Wars, and that’s where the Force is more subdued
There's this issue that most people have been trained (mostly by the MCU but also other superhero movies) to consider everyone in a costume a main character or at least important because many secondary characters that normally would be superheroes or supervillains just don't have their comic book costume or even powers in movies and are only there so nerds can find a cameo in the credits. Superman technically just avoided putting them in some generic tacticool gear like for example Winter Soldier did with Batroc and that other guy (Crossbones, I think..?).
It's people like that that shitty exposition dialogue is for and they still find reasons to be stupid
They should have a text box in the corner to explain stuff just like in the comics
Like Spider-verse
This somehow reminds me of someone who got mad that in The Last Jedi we didn’t see the hole in the Resistance ship get sealed up before they let Leia in through the door. People just too lazy to use their imaginations.
That happened in the movie?
When Leia is in space and goes back to the ship, she goes through where part of the ship had come off and puts her hand against the glass, and then it cuts to her being rolled away in the hallway
So this guy was upset that it didn’t explicitly show how everyone was able to not get sucked out into space as they let Leia in
Looking at the scene again, she does go through a doorway into a hallway leading to the glass
So it’s really not hard to imagine that a door closes behind her before they open the other one to let her in
Yeah the average larger ship seems to come with points where they can seal what’s still in it one piece
