Personally I think a glup shitto doesn't need to be a background character so much as someone that you wouldn't know in the context of the show at first. So like Ahsoka in Mando shows up for a second but you wouldn't know who she is unless you watched something else. I'd first like to remark how the show really wears the LOTR homage on it's sleeve. The crab people are just hobbits, the red samurai orcs, even with their own wargs, and the setting is very clearly similar to Rohan or that place they cross in the Hobbit.
One reference I particularly like is the smart mines, because I've recently been reading the marvel comics and those exact mines appear. I also like how they address that yes, ending up anywhere but their desired position will leave them stranded.
Aside from that I like how Ezra is portrayed, although the pacifist thing is a little cliché. But I'm still disappointed we got nothing as to what exactly happened in those 9 years. He's a little too laidback for someone who was stranded IN ANOTHER GALAXY for 9 YEARS. Same with Thrawn, it's fun seeing him in action but time this really doesn't seem to have affected him much.
Also I hope that we at least get closure with Baylan because him being so incredibly criptic is getting frustrating.
As for the initial meeting with the NR senate I really not sure how to feel. On the one hand, Siono is right Hera shouldn't be behaving like a hot shot in her position (it's even weird she's still like that even after the war, you'd expect motherhood, the escalation and subsequent fallout of the Empire to make her hardier but no, same old Hera), but at the same time, what's this guy's problem? Like his uptighness about this doesn't make any sense, at first he was worried about the missplacing resources, which fair but Hera investigated by herself with a couple of fighters, the fleet was doing fuck all, they didn't even say "oh we need you for a peace keeping mission in the mid rim" or something like that, he's just an ass about it for the sake of being antagonistic, couldn't they have given him a bit more ground to argue?
As a final note I'd just like to say. The stormtroopers having them encircled and just missing was just stupid, like c'mon. Stop feeding a meme.

Question: do you guys think the weekly episode release was necessary for this show so far? I know some people are very insistent that most if not all shows benefit from that format, but I've always considered it on a case by case basis. So far I don't think it's really been necessary.

Watchmen is one I definitely felt like I benefitted from watching it all at once, there were a lot of moving pieces and small moments that I felt like I would've missed if I had to wait a week between episodes.
Legion was another show I really liked but couldn't keep up with because each week I'd have to remind myself where I was in the story. It's very trippy and complicated with its narrative.
Missing one episode was enough for me to forget where I was and eventually I just forgot to finish it, and I still need to get around to it.
I've heard people say the Netflix Marvel shows would've benefitted from weekly releases, but outside of weekly hype on social media I don't really think the story would've benefitted. I think they mostly needed shorter seasons, since a lot of the middle sections would feel slow and clunky.

Ezra is unarmed, Ahsoka would still be under pressure if she had to defend multiple shots at once from all directions like her tales of the jedi episode. You can still have that fear that something might happen up in the air even if nothing does. It's no reason to just give up on trying to establish any semblance of stakes and make scenes that are very silly in hindsight

Also Thrawn never met Ahsoka before so he had no reason to look her up.
Thrawn sort of deduced that Vader was Anakin but he quickly saw that trying to nudge him about it would shorten his life expectancy.
Thrawn met Anakin when he went alone to rescure Padme in a very remote system under separatist rule, IIRC Anakin did mention he had a Padawan but didn't name her.
This of course as far as book canon goes but for now nothing contraddicts it.

Nah I wouldn't be a fan of that, I think the biggest thing Thrawn has going for him is the idea that he managed to keep his troops organized and loyal over years of being trapped in another galaxy. If they were just zombies or whatever then it doesn't really say much about him as a threat on his own, the only people he commands at that point are the witches who are the actual ones who would control the undead in that case.

Usually if you find a good kyber crystal in a sacred temple you can use it to craft a lightsaber you just need to pick up materials such as steel and weld it to make your hilt
