like i saw the 51 minute runtime and was like "Sick!" and i felt alot of the screentime (on heras end, the ahsoka stuff was fast paced) was soooo slow

like they were just drawing the jacen hera stuff out

like the whole "listen! hear the lightsabers!" bit where they just close their eyes and you just hear lightsaber SFX was just so drawn out and not really like

needed

it didnt really add much other than jacen showing off that yea hes got the force

I think after having her take a huge loss, taking ahsoka back to her roots to have her reflect on her behaviors was a good narrative throughline. She faltered with Sabine through some faults of her own, like her conditioned soldier-y coldness she acquired from unresolved trauma. When what Sabine actually needed was Ahsoka to be Ahsoka. She needed her to be empathetic and be what Ahsoka never had in her adolescence. Needed understanding.
So the entire extended sequence of Ahsoka with Anakin was her shelving the coldness in favour of the peppy ahsoka that was long gone after vader was born.

no yeah i get that I just wish we saw a tiny bit of what sabine was up to this episode

after the amazing cliffhanger in episode 4 that got me hooked

not the haydan thing, sabine actually going with the villains

I actually like that we don't know what's happening with her. I think revealing the new galaxy ahead of ahsoka getting there personally would kill the tension the characters are feeling about this uncharted territory nobody can make contact with.

I generally prefer slower stories that let characters breathe on a given event. I think its an important factor in making them feel like people and not just characters. I like seeing the subtle little things like ahsoka waking up and reacting to the sun or her just gradually examining the ruins.

is that the early parts REALLY taking their time, is gonna make it so the ending needs to be really fast

I wish they would go slow and explore the new locations and we get alot of screentime with ezra and thrawn and our new villians

they've taken so much time in the first 5 episodes that now that we have only 3 left

if the show DOEST speed up now than idk how they're gonna wrap up the plot

but again, we'll have to wait and see

Basically the demo feels more like an actual song you'd get on an album or something, while the final version comes off as soundtrack piece. Which it you know is, but you get what I mean

Just finished watching Ahsoka Episode 5.I really like this episode; the storyline, plot, and subplots are very interesting.One of the scenes that I like in this episode is the fight scene between Ahsoka and Anakin in the world between worlds.I think Jacen will later become a Jedi knight, even though it's not time yet. Jacen's figure in this series is very similar to several characters I know in the Star Wars universe.

During the Ryloth flashback, Ahsoka and Anakin discuss the difference between the Jedi's traditional role as peacekeepers, and their current role as soldiers; Ahsoka voiced a similar musing to Rex the day the war ended.
When a young Ahsoka asks Anakin what will happen if she chooses not to fight, he replies "then you'll die"; Anakin would repeat those words, in a much darker context, when he faced Ahsoka as Darth Vader.
In the beginning of the Ryloth sequence, Ahsoka complains about being trained by Anakin in the middle of the battlefield. Just two episodes back, Sabine was complaining about being lectured by Ahsoka as Shin's squad of fighters fired at them.

something being "better in animation" is only the case if they make use of animation as a medium in a meaningful way that cant be done in live action.

As much as I love TCW and Rebels they never really use animation as a medium to benefit the show in any way. It was just the only option they had on the budget.

compare to something like say an anime or an animated film. Typically there's obvious artistic direction that lends itself into the animation.

a dynamism to it unique to an animated product like that

but both filoni animated shows are for the most part pretty standard affairs of 3D renders of characters interacting like normal humans would

the outlier actually would be resistance which has incredibly expressive and bouncy animation; so I honestly give that show a lot of credit for making use of animation in that way.

Just watched ep 5 and...eeeehhhhhhhh.....
Like the World Between Worlds segment felt 95% pointless for the sake of fanservice. It's nice to see Hayden still has it for lightsaber fights and that he can pull off a quipier Anakin (even if his tone was weird at times) but it kinda felt like a huge waste of time to say very little.
It feels like the typical problems of the weakest parts of mando seeping back in, plot doesn't know where to go so it just wastes time and pads out scenes.
I don't even know why they had her go to the WbW if all it amounted to was a dream sequence while she was unconscious in the water. The scenes in it were awkward at times but I think you can chalk it up to dream world.
Use of Force Eco was Nice but man the purgril plan seems very reliant on the whales conveniently being fast enough to keep up with the eye. Image if their intergalactic migration to them a few years, or even decades.
I think it'd have made more sense if Ahsoka used the fact that she was just in the WbW to figure out there's probably an entrance somewhere on the planet similar to lothal and used that.
Overall I don't think this was a particularly strong episode. It has some decent elements but I felt like it wasted 30 minutes.

Also do you guys think they are going to ignore the need for hyperspace charts once they get to the new galaxy?

All I want is for the mechanics of hyperspace to actually be meaningful as it'd make a new galaxy truly mysterious and uncharted and if they go "oh I'll just use the force to guide us so we can go functionally everywhere" will feel extremely cheap

All the Force hyperspace stuff is just a consequence of the precognition abilities that come with the Force, no more, no less.
If anything it's more viable for hyperspace rather than other uses because a supernova that will be there if you go straight for the next few minutes won't just decide to be somewhere else like a person could (which is the big limit of Force precognition: the future isn't set and people might just decide differently, hence why it's mostly useful in combat when people have to make split second decisions and Force prophecies long term are either extremely vague or downright unreliable).

honestly my biggest complaint is that gideon is the one to break the darksaber

bo should have been the one to realize the darksaber was holding her people back, and that a weapon being a symbol of mandalore, and not their armor which is meant for protection, why why their socioty was so violent and warmongering cause they were so focused on the attack part of being warriors, not the defense

so her choosing to be rid of the saber and lead her people by example instead of how good you duel would have been perfect

but nope gideon breaks it

takes away all of bos agency in the story

makes the entire seasons arc feel so disjointed

most of my underlying issues with the show in terms of directing and acting are still there but this episode by far was the most streamlined and cohesive. The pacing was actually really good in this episode compared to the poor pacing in the rest of the show
