IIRC, in this other reality, the SCP Foundation became part of the GOC because of financial causes or something, so now they help them destroy anomalies. But they are not very nice... they are evil! They kill all kinds of anomalies including this little "leech" boy. But yeah, in this site, they have this big ass "incinerator" they use to kill anomalies, but it's starting to break and leak "anomaly juice" or something like that. After some more kills, the incinerator basically creates an amalgamation of anomalies and it starts to attack everything, also a lot of other SCPs start to break containment ig. They had this other machine that teleports them to another reality in case of a containment breach so they don't harm anyone else I think. Now, picture this, it's a site in the middle of the desert with A LOT of SCPs and other weird stuff, the reality is unstable and there are still survivors inside. They send some MTF units inside and they either die or get lost. After that they decide so send in MTF Unit Tau-5, which are like, badass robocops. Now, they are inside a haunted site with a lot of anomalies trying to stop the incinerator and some other thing while trying to survive and find the survivors. One of my favorite parts is that SCP-993 is kinda like SCP-079 in this universe. He's been broken by this evil foundation and now he is helping them, which is ironic because he's the one that used to torture children. Oh yeah the director of the site is now a terrible abomination called "Malidramagiuan" as his punishment for his terrible acts against anomalies. Anyway they find the survivors and their new plan is to send Site-13 to another reality, they get to the machine or something (IDK I might have messed up the story a little but that's basically it) and they try to do the thing... However the Leech Boy is there! And he isn't a little boy anymore, he's a terrible giant leech monster! He begins to attack the group, but suddenly... SCP-001 THE GATE GUARDIAN APPEARS ALONG WITH SCP-2845 AND THE THREE ANOMALIES START AN EPIC FIGHT WHILE THE GROUP TRIES TO SHUT DOWN THE MACHINE, ONE OF THEM SACRIFICES THEMSELVES TO LET THE REST OF THE GROUP ESCAPE AND WITH THAT... the group escapes and they activate the machine, now, Site-13 is floating in the space between realities forever...? Anyway I definitely messed up the story but that's basically it, you should read it because it's AWESOME, it would make a great movie or a game.

Currently starting out (for the 3rd time actually, played the game since 2018 but never managed to get past the first 5 levels), it is pretty scary and hard during the first steps, even with confidence and general lack of fear I die a lot without making any real progress, which is very frustrating. Either get a team, or wait until wipe where others appear in the same position as you, same equipment and need to learn new game additions

Or at least I suspect it would help, maybe just overcoming the barrier yourself is the best option, but I haven't gotten any successful at it yet

game has a steep learning curve but with some tutorials, the wiki and focusing on one map route you can get good at it

but also the leveling is hard, some parts of the game are locked off from the start and theres a lot of details you have to start learning

PvP is by far the hardest aspect obviously, at first it's not really a fight but rather you being beaten up by others, often from unseen places or unreachable distances. And even when you manage to meet someone in a fair fight, chances are enemy's armor is too strong for your ammo and your gun isn't good at recoil control
