Basically what I do is that I give my creatures some humanoid features. Like human hands, or eyes usually it brings a little dystopian look, here’s an example
Some abnormal anatomy also works well, extra limbs, unhinged jaws or limbs that randomly grow on the body, another example I coming
Dark/dull colors also do the job to bring in a more “scary” look to the art

well drawing animals and humans is hard (atleast i think so) because you already know what there sopposed to look like and if small details are wrong you will imideatly notice so you should can make your own stile of drawing them but if you want realism i strongly suggest using refrances
