#Popper suspension is broken

The Popper is undrivable, i've spent a few laps trying to drive it with different approaches but oh my god this car is horrible, its extremely prone to oversteering and spinning out. But the WORST part about this car is the suspension, its bad, the car randomly bounces off after bumps and or jumps leading to a loss of control. It needs a softer suspension that bounces less to be competitive, and a lower center of mass.

We will see what we can do to make it more neutral. We had an understeering version of it that was just hard to drive quickly. But the worse part is the bounce on harsh landings. This is an area we're generally still figuring out design-wise, because the cars don't all agree with our track design atm. It handles regular bumps and small jumps, but for example Sandpit before last corner is brutal as well as the canyon jump.

Making it softer alone wouldn't help, it hits its bump stops and deflects tires which guarantees a very harsh rebound. Increasing its ride height and damping would help, but that would affect its handling which finally holds together for a reasonably quick lap if you know how to drive it. Center of mass is already quite low, can't go too low or physics get weird overall.

i've flipped at least maybe 10-25% of the time

Wouldnt extra downforce make it more stable?

A lot that can be done to tune balance without touching downforce which we'd like to leave to actual downforce cars or upgrade parts in the future.

I feel like people might hate this but after driving the popper for an hour or so, it feels very nice to drive.. this isn't a joke or a ragebait. I feel like the way it drives is perfect for learning a different car, it does take a decent amount of skill to use but once you get it my god is it fun to drive.

I did drive it before in the update #3 and yeah it was almost undrivable but ever since then, its amazing.

If you change it, please don't do too much to it as it's so much fun.

I agree with Tyrone. Before the previous update to say it was undrivable was an understatement. After the update on most tracks its very decent now. About the main issue you'll have is landing the jump on Savo with its recoil on the landing. Finncross main I think it is you'll lose a bit of grip as the car raises up for the little bump through the last corner but its only really i'd say.. a second and a half or two seconds off of the Buggy on that track. Miles better than what it was previously.

I have also been driving it a lot in internal testing out of principle, dogfooding it so to speak. It is a bit different to the other cars, but once you get used to it it's easy to hold neutral balance through corners, steering wheel straight. It's fundamentally a tricky chassis to balance without resorting to hacks that show up somewhere else, because it's short and narrow.

My biggest gripe with it still is landing some of the jumps such as Savolax like PikaKuu mentioned. Other than that we (or at least I) found that this balance is the fastest version once you get used to it. Probably not everyone's cup of tea atm. but I don't know that any car can be or should be if we make them sufficiently different with their own characteristics. Not that it couldn't be better, but it's not easy to improve its balance without losing its pace which it's still lacking to a degree.

Though note that we generally model suspension to be less absorb-everything than Wreckfest 1 had. At least for now. Remains to be seen what upgrades or categories can do once we get there. But it can happen that two cars hit their bump stops, but only the other one consistently flies off the track after. I think it's fair if these cars are pointed out.

but yes tuning would fix a load of these problems

and yeah once you get used to a car they are all fun to drive ignoring crusader sorry amy

Ah yes for the balance tuning would help and gearing is probably always going to be a little off once you get really quick (I wouldn't let the thought distract you unless you're close to the world record at any given track). There are some simple tuning options that could help fine tune cars more to your liking. But jumps and suspension is trickier than that.

Tuning not being in yet does make it really hard to balance things farther. I can imagine we'll see more cars pull ahead of others and some fall behind again once thats included. For now the Popper is competitive for the most part which is good enough for me.

Il loved the Killerbee S in WF1, since the Nov 3 update, the Popper feels better, but still not Killerbee efficient level.
I think the Popper is on the edge of feeling as good as the Buggy with a few tweaks.
