#Currency reward for beating levels

Encourages people to play more. Rings perhaps? (Since you have rings under your body in game.) They are colored like your player. The difficulty of the level determines how much rings you get. Only verified levels give you rings; unverified levels dont give you anything.
Easy - 1 ring
Medium - 5 rings
Hard - 10 rings
Very Hard - 25 rings
Impossible - 50 rings
Rings would show how good you are at the game. Leaderboards could be set up with the top ranking players. This massively encourages playing and would heighten the community by a long shot. Level completions would feel more rewarding (obviously) and would mean more to the community. For example, beating an impossible verified level not only gives you 50 rings, but places you higher on the leaderboard, which gives you more incentive to go out and beat more impossible levels.

In the future, maybe more difficulties could be added, with varying amounts of ring rewards.
Insane (replaces old Impossible) - 50 rings
Extreme - 100 rings
Impossible - 250 rings (Top levels only, maybe top 10 or top 15 only, using .index's list)

With this, one completion won't dictate your entire skill level. Rather, the amount of rings you have would dictate it instead. The top 1 player on the rings leaderboard would be considered the best player of them all.

The potential for achievements here is insane as well. You could add achievements for reaching 500 rings, 1000 rings, 2000 rings, 3000 rings, and so on. Players would feel more inclined to progress through the game's harder levels and play more to practice.

Even if this was considered, it would make me really happy. This feature is basically a free activity boost and community boost in every way possible.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. If you like this idea, spread it around and make sure it gets to Slin or one of the other devs!!

Actually peak idea right here

#

I love this

#

Only problem is if isn’t possible to track levels you’ve already beaten

#

No wait index can do that I’m sure slin can too

sterile peak
#

Yes we need this

#

Achievements would be sick

#

Mockup of a level page (500 rings is a placeholder)

#

Once you beat the level, you get that amount of rings immediately

#

I dont like rings as a currency

#

Feels weird to say

hollow gull
#

Yea the currency I’m not a fan of but the idea is great

#

Sparks?

#

Scrap

hollow gull
#

Scraps could work

hoary vortex
#

We are robots after all

hollow gull
#

But I do like how this balances beating a lot of easy maps and beating a couple insanely hard maps

So basically like geometry dash orb system

#

Are we adding demon keys too??

#

what if i get an alt use cheats and make it impossible for people to know i used any

#

like

dull void
#

That way no client interference would change your rings / scraps / whatever

mighty tapir
#

beating level hacks*

dull void
#

and that way they'll ban you from the leaderboards

#

like if you hack even a single level they'll ban you off the leaderboards so you cant hack anymore

mighty tapir
#

i think a perm ban would work better

dull void
#

yeah

#

either way the mods would have a bit more work to do but im sure slin will find a way to work around the whole hack problem

#

Just imagine how fun it would be to grind your rings / scraps

#

You'd get to play tons of fun levels and climb the leaderboards in return

dull void
#

But tbf gd's stars idea isnt too original either

hoary vortex
#

It doesn’t have to be original

#

I like gds approach

#

To currency

dull void
#

@leaden cove what's your thoughts? sorry for ping, but a lot of the testers thought it was a great idea

accumulating something for every time you beat a level is just gonna suck. The result will be that after a longer time some players that have been grinding from the start will have some huge number that no new player could ever reach no matter how hard they try. A system like this doesn't really reflect skill that much.

#

I am sure there are decent ways to do it, but I haven't fully figured it out yet

#

I think the outcome should be a somewhat meaningful ranking of skill

#

in a way that an incredibly good new player can get to the top quickly, inactive players get deranked over time and the top players can fight it out by getting on top of the hardest levels leaderboards

Perhaps a count of how many impossible levels you've beaten?

#

Maybe the leaderboard resets every month. That way, newer players can rise to the top easier

#

I feel like my exact idea except the leaderboard resets every month would be good for your requirements

#

But it'd be hard to get across to the player that the points they've been grinding for for the past month will all go away for seemingly no reason

#

Weekly could be better, that way it seems less grindy

#

Records could be set, like maybe "Breaking grab news: [top player] just set an all time record of 1213 rings in one week; the highest ever"
