i wouldnt say there has to be a complexity limit
do you want people wasting your complexity?
The limit would be 3000, and I guess you couldn’t spawn one in when there isn’t enough space.
the big issue with this is the preview tbh
I'd like to provide a nice 3d preview, but with 3k complexity stuff and having 6 or so on screen at once that's the same as looking at a 18k complexity level + your actual level
I'll also likely have a lower limit in general for assets like this
maybe 500
but that still doesn't really solve the preview issue
I'll probably have to generate 2d previews on the fly
generating 2d previews as thimbnails when you save the prefab, you could probably make them short videos to give off a 3d effect.
Or somehow merge the models into a singular more optimised version that only has the parts you can see. Plus if I remember correctly, things run much faster when they don’t have hit boxes.
500 complexity max, scrollable list, you could probably have it only display 3-4K max at one time
nah, hit boxes don't cost much
and the game is already struggling with some levels
having 3-4k on top is not gonna help
when I was messing with putting entire game models into the game, the ones with hit boxes took forever to load, the ones without were near instant
since it's all in view at once, it's even worse than a high complexity level
well, yeah loading hit boxes takes some time, but for after that it doesn't matter much
I guess that’s more load time than lag
Sounds like it’s gonna have to be 2d 😦
I feel like an experimental settings menu is becoming more and more useful.
- shadows
- extra watch customising
- 3d prefabs
- custom textures
Over time it would become a better and better feature
Especially useful on pcvr
